"Although it takes a while to get to this restaurant, following the magical Jezersko valley to a setting just a few kilometres from the Austrian border, once you’ve reached your destination you realise that the journey was well worth it! Surrounded by splendid mountain peaks, this boutique Alpine hotel and its excellent gourmet restaurant of the same name provide a warm, welcoming haven for guests. The chefs here create elegant, refined dishes that showcase the best Slovenian ingredients, paying careful attention to local recipes. Specialities include bear prosciutto served with bread crackers, hazelnut cream and pear, and smoked trout with camomile-flavoured frothed milk, carrot reduction and pickled celery. We had a truly memorable stay and an exceptional New Year’s Eve celebration at Vila Planinka. The staff were incredibly attentive from start to finish…warm, professional, and thoughtful in every interaction. We were there for the 9-course New Year’s Eve tasting menu, and it was creatively inspiring and truly Michelin quality. The wine experience was equally impressive, thanks in large part to Veronica, who was so friendly and knowledgeable. Her recommendations from the local wine selection elevated the entire experience and made each pairing feel special. The rooms were very cozy and comfortable, and the atmosphere throughout the hotel struck a perfect balance between refined and relaxed. The live guitarist was the perfect choice for the evening, setting a wonderful tone for the celebration. We had so much fun ringing in the New Year alongside the other guests and the staff! A fantastic experience all around, and a place we’d happily return!

A top tier hotel with an outstanding atmosphere and, above all, exceptional people. The staff are warm, relaxed and genuinely hospitable… experienced, attentive and truly professional. The hotel itself is beautifull filled with unique details that create a special sense of place, perfectly complemented by the surrounding nature and breathtaking views. Our room was stunning… spacious, elegant and extremely comfortable. The food was simply phenomenal… incredibly flavorful, refined and memorable. An experience that stays with you long after you leave.

This is our favorite hotel we’ve ever been to. The attention from the staff (special shout outs to **Dechen and Esteban** — but really everybody was super friendly and offered incredible service), the food (the restaurant is in the Michelin guide), the Finnish sauna (free use) and the walking trails around Jerzesko are beautiful with views of the mountains and pine tree forests filled with green moss-covered boulders. Picturesque. Beautiful stay. Thanks again to the entire team for making our stay truly special.

Is a nice lovely boutique hotel where you can go for good hikes from the hotel exit. Room is spacious and bathroom is modern, sink is great and they provide good quality body lotion and showel gel/shampoo. No electric flask but they'll provide if you ask for it. At least they've wine glasses in the room so I guess their customers drink wine in the morning. Lovely views from the room. |Their staff are all very polite and helpful especially the Asian lady at reception - very nice! Sommelier lady is knowledgeable however they like to take their time to explain the wine and food so be prepared to go for dinner not too hungry. If you're impatient like me, best to tell them in advance you just want 1 or 2 course and serve it fast, then they'll act accordingly. |The spa area is disappointing as the main sauna is not working 2 days I'm here. Only Infra red sauna is working but is not that hot, and that infra red sauna is only for 1 pax. No steam room or jacuzzi. |Breakfast is the best we'd so far we stayed 3 hotels. They've eggs to order and presentation of breakfast is well thought out. If I come back here to Slovenia and need a good hike, I'll consider coming back here again.

I’m sharing an honest review, and unfortunately, considering the price and the hotel’s positioning, I was very disappointed. If it weren’t for the two gentlemen at breakfast, who were extremely kind, cheerful, and professional, I would have given an even lower rating. As someone who travels frequently and regularly stays in 5-star hotels, I can honestly say that this was one of the weakest hotel rooms I’ve stayed in. This is not about design or style. The main issue is that many things feel worn out, poorly finished, and neglected. For example: • the toilet seat is peeling • the sink faucet opening in the countertop is far too large and poorly finished, leaving visible gaps around the fixture • wooden elements are already coming loose • it feels like lower-quality materials were used, which is why everything is slowly deteriorating There were also white stains on the decorative pillows, which is unacceptable at this level. Small but important details were missing: • a water kettle in the room • a spa bag or tote, which is usually standard for hotels in this price range On the first day in the spa, herbal tea ran out early and was not refilled for the rest of the day. The spa lights were not working; we were told they were not charged. The speaker kept playing the same song on repeat, and later started loudly announcing a low battery warning, echoing through the entire sauna area. Eventually, I had to personally inform the staff about the lighting and speaker issues. Breakfast was very good, tasty, and served in a pleasant atmosphere. We did not try the dinner. The view is unfortunately spoiled by a gas station located right next to the hotel, which is not apparent from the photos and came as a surprise. Overall, the experience did not meet expectations for the price and the advertised standard. Unfortunately, I would not return.

Probably the best hotel experience I've ever had. From the minute we arrived the staff were attentive, genuine and helpful. I appreciated the truly warm welcome. Dinner was exceptional and so was the service. My massage was also exceptional. I adored the sauna/spa area. Marja is an absolute asset to the hotel, suggesting tailored activities, arranging our days around what we love to do, and making us feel better connected to Jezerko. Thanks for taking such good care of us, we'll be back to experience the valley in another season.

Our four-night stay at Vila Planinka was truly exceptional! The staff delivered the best service we’ve ever experienced. Klemen welcomed us warmly at check-in, going above and beyond to arrange dinner reservations and recommend exciting local activities that made our trip unforgettable. The entire team was incredibly friendly and attentive, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The coffee and wine were outstanding, and the tasting menu at the restaurant was a highlight—every dish was phenomenal! Breakfast was equally delightful, starting each day on a high note. We met Mo briefly during our stay but got to know him during checkout—what a professional! His warmth and expertise, alongside the talents of Miha and Dechen, made every moment special. The staff’s dedication elevated our experience to another level. No regrets choosing Vila Planinka, and we’re already excited to return! Highly recommend this Slovenian gem.

We brought a group here through our Active Vacation company Fitcation. The rooms are beautiful with incredible views. The service is excellent. The staff was attentive and extremely knowledgeable. We had the wine tasting experience. It might've been the best wine tasting experience I've ever had. The sommelier had us pare various Slovenian wines with different flavors. She was passionate, expert, and funny. The location was perfect; nested in a valley of the Julian Alps close to a variety of fantastic trails. I can't wait to stay there again.
