"Although the eggplant parmesan and homemade potato gnocchi may draw you in at Villa Barone, the pasta fagioli is an excellent menu item to start off the meal. Enjoy this popular Italian culinary starter alongside the restaurant’s house-made rolls before sampling the rest of the cuisine on the menu of this Collingswood dining spot." - Kristen Kwiatkowski

Yelp
On a recent visit back East, my wife and I met up with an old friend at Villa Barone. We have lived in the San Francisco area for 16 years, so you never know how your Jersey favorites fared after Covid. But I am here to tell you VB is as good as we remembered it: same Italian rustic decor, same 3 rooms and same down-home Italian goodness. I also forgot Collingswood is still dry (thank you Carl McIntyre), so I called first to see if anything had changed on the wine front - no - it's still BYOB. (As an aside, you can bring a bottle to CA restaurants but you'll pay a $25-$35 corkage fee.) I had forgotten how good the little bread puppies are; we made short work of them. I ordered the eggplant parmigiana. Which came with an ample side of pasta. My wife had chicken cutlets, which she used to get whenever we visited, and her friend got the same thing, again with plenty of pasta. It's good to know places don't change. They find a formula that works for them amd their customers and stick with it. That's Villa Barone. We will be back on our next visit.

Yelp
Service was wonderful and organized. The atmosphere was very warm and welcoming. Reservations were easy to make. It is BYOB. Complimentary rolls were warm. It comes with an olive oil dip and we asked for butter. All our food came out piping hot and fresh! The fried calamari texture was perfect - a light crisp and tender; not too chewy. I really enjoyed my penne tartufo. The pasta had so many depths of flavor from the truffle cream sauce to the smoked prosciutto and mushrooms. My friend had a short rib pasta and I really enjoyed the flavor of the wine sauce that it was made with.

Yelp
Food- delicious with terrific menu options Service- friendly and consistent Drinks- BYOB, unless you want to buy the bottle, but no Moscato! Parking- meters, unless you are lucky w/ off street , or across the street near train station.

Heather L.

Yelp
Came here with family for a late lunch on a Sunday afternoon. The service was great, we had a large party too. I got the half and half soup and the linguine positano but I subbed in rose cream sauce. The warm fresh bread was also a nice touch.

Mary M.

Yelp
We enjoyed a delicious dinner tonight at Villa Barone! The chicken saltinbacca was so good and the prosciutto was perfect on top! We loved the calamari and gnocchi too. A shout out to our server Michele for her sweet nature and smile! Michele was kind and attentive especially to my little grandson! Thanks Michele!

Yelp
There's no shortage of Italian restaurants in the Collingwood area in Villa Barone is one of the good ones. We arrived for a late night dinner, and were immediately seated and taken care of. They stored you with complementary rolls and olive oil dip. All meals were prepared, fresh and arrived hot. Each member of our party seemed very satisfied with their choice. There are several off menu specials, as well as a large selection of your typical Italian dishes. It's a BYOB so bring your own bottle. Would recommend a friend.

Yelp
Bland food in a dull atmosphere. Okay - it is June but we were seated in a big room with one other table for two. Nothing overwhelming. With all the great Italian restaurants around, it will be a while before we try this one again.

Yelp
I've been on an Italian kick and decided to try Villa Barone. I honestly wasn't expecting much. I remember this place from decades ago and for some reason thought it was average. However, it blew me away. Bread was the best I've had in the area served with dinner and meals were all fantastic. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
It's been a long time since I dined at Villa Barone, but tonight's experience makes me want to go back often! Our server, Angela, was a phenomenal-she was friendly, knowledgeable, and when we had a special request, she talked to the cooks and made it happen-we commented that we were impressed that she could converse in Spanish when needed and she explained she had minored in Spanish in college. My friend ordered the filet special with crab meat and Gorgonzola cream sauce and I had the eggplant rollatini-good sized portions and very tasty! For dessert, the tiramisu was a great way to end our meal.

Allie A.

Yelp
So many times I've been in Collingswood for crafts fairs and Villa Barone has a table set up where they serve up fresh, hot slices of pizza. And every time I say, DANG, that's just about one of the best, simplest, tastiest cheese slices you can possibly get. It's not foo foo, it's not over seasoned, it's not complicated. On my list for a nice, sit down dinner.

John W.

Yelp
Delicious as alway! Great byob place. Food = 10, Ambience = 10. Must try if you're in Collingswood.

Jennifer M.

Yelp
Stuffed mushrooms smelled and tasted very fishy! Chicken was dry and veal chewy. Very disappointing for $70.00

Yelp
I was expecting a better meal than my wife and I had on our 25th wedding anniversary 5-8-2024.We like to try different places in Collingswood(I grew up there) but I was very disappointed for several reasons.Upon our arrival we were greeted by Angela and seated at our table. The first disappointment was we were handed a piece of yellow paper that looked like a note with the dinner specials(what has happened to the server knowing them and letting us know what they were by making eye contact instead of just leaving it on our table and walking away?) We placed our order and upon arrival we were given the house salad that looked like it was bought from a supermarket and overloaded with dressing(not good). We received our entrees my wife ordered the linguini, crab and spinach and I the eggplant rollatini.I had a hard time finding the eggplant due to the fact it was overloaded with mozzarella(way too much) and my wife's dish looked like the crab came from a can!). And finally the dessert was a cannoli which tasted very stale. With this being said we were Very Disappointed with our First and Definitely Our Last Visit to this restaurant!!! Looking forward to the response from the manager of this establishment!!!

Maureen J.

Yelp
There's a reason they've been in business so long. The food and service here is always consistent and quite delicious! The fusilli short rib and the veal saltimbocca were terrific! And, we finished nicely with the profiteroles!!

Fawn M.

Yelp
We visited here for dinner before a show at the Scottish Rite Auditorium. Our server was very attentive and nice relaxed atompshere. We had calamari for appetizers, not over cooked and served with 2 dipping sauces; we enjoyed it. You got hot bread with a olive oil mix, it was sooo good! We had the shrimp and salmon dish which was a special of the night, the salmon melted in your mouth and the accompanying vegetables were nicely prepared, not over cooked. We wish they gave you more than 2 large shrimps, it was a delicious dish. We also had Penne Tartufo pasta dish, the portion was enough for leftovers...2 more meals. I wish there were more mushrooms in it, but we also enjoyed that dish. I love that it is BYOB, I would definitely come back again.

Yelp
Astronomical prices for okay Italian food. We went here for Mother's Day lunch hoping to have a relatively light meal at noon, only to find that they took the pizza off of the menu (one of the biggest appeals of this place.... I mean, it's known for the brick oven...), all of the salads, and anything lunchy and replaced it with whole dinner entrees that were also up charged 10$ a piece. The service was ridiculously slow even with the smaller menu, and there was barely anyone in the restaurant too. I literally just went to parc and spent less money on a dinner with the same number of people, with cocktails. Ridiculous. One good thing I'll give them is they did refund me when I realized on the road that I had tipped on top of an auto gratuity, which was sweet.

Yelp
Omg! This restaurant is amazing, maybe bc their last name is the same as mine...no relation thought. OR maybe they do Italian right! Food is AMAZING! My husband and I had a 5:30 reservation and were seated very quickly. The ambiance was perfect for our anniversary dinner. Our waitress Dana was on point with her service. We watched as she was so attentive to all her tables and checked on us throughout our dinner. We ordered appetizers: Broccoli Rabe and Stuffed mushrooms. The Broccoli Rabe is so delicious we can't wait to take my MIL when she comes to visit. And my MIL makes the best Broccoli Rabe. Next we ordered our dinners. Hubby got Gnocchi - which he said were the best ever AND they were homemade. I ordered Penne Tartufo which was so tasty. It was penne mushrooms, peas, prosciutto, in a creamy white truffle sauce. The truffle sauce was perfect and not too overpowering...Dana said everyone whose gotten it never complained and I can see why it was soooo good. We split our meals to take portions home bc we wanted dessert. Soooo next came Lemon-cello Cake and a Crème Brûlée Cake both chilled and a perfect closure to our Anniversary! Thank you Villa Barone for a wonderful dinner. We will be back this summer with my MIL! Definitely worth a visit if you're in the mood for a GOOD Italian restaurant.

Yelp
Best value on Haddon Ave. Excellent service, good, and value! Male server a consummate professional- lobster rav with side of gnocchi & tiramisu for dessert! Great ambience, neighborhood atmosphere but royal treatment too!!!

Yelp
This was our first dining experience in the strange new world of phase 2 New Jersey out door dining. Tables are set up outside on the sidewalk. There are no menus, the menu is download to a phone using a Quick Scan app and the phone's camera. Diners do not need to wear masks but if entering the building to use a washroom, a mask is required. Our server wore a mask at all times. I felt the protocol was very good at Villa Barone. I ordered the Tagliatelle Cacio e Pepe - traditional Roman pasta with a creamy romano cheese sauce and fresh ground black pepper. They add lemon zest and fresh arugula. I liked this dish. The pasta was home made and the cream sauce was not overly heavy. The pepper gave the dish flavor. My wife had the salmon special with crabmeat. This was also very good. Service was great all night, 5 stars for that aspect. It was a beautiful warm evening and I really enjoyed eating out again. We have to support these local businesses as best we can.

Yelp
Collingswood block fair was on Saturday. Walking along I came across Villa Barone and they were selling slices of pizza. I bought a slice and turned back around to buy another because it was so delicious. On my way past again after walking the strip that day, I stop again it was that good. So we decided to go to dinner on Sunday and our experience was 180° different. My fiancé ordered tomato soup (that was excellent) and a grilled shrimp salad without tomatoes and artichokes, I ordered Gnocchi, terrible, watery sauce and gnocchi tasted burnt, I sent it back (feeling terrible in doing so) and asked for the same pizza I had the day prior figuring it would make my night being so good the day prior and not only was it so so so small, it was burnt and nothing like the day before. Disappointed I asked for the check and to go box. When the check I looked it over (typically I do not) just to make sure I was not charged for the gnocchi and I noticed I was charged a total of three dollars because my fiancé asked for no tomatoes in her salad and artichokes. I brought this to the staffs attention and they corrected it so be aware and I recommend looking over your receipt if modifying your dish.

Yelp
I've been to Villa Barone twice with family and enjoyed it both times. Great service and the food is very yummy. They start you out with warm rolls and a plate of olive oil with herbs for dipping which was excellent. People in my party got the mussels, two types of pizza (the margarita and the Napoletana), the lasagna, and the insalata mediterraneo. All were fresh and everyone enjoyed their meal. My previous trip I got the eggplant parm and it was delicious. A very nice size portion as well. The preference of pizza between the two was the napoletana as people said it was more flavorful but you can't go wrong with either one. Remember it's byob. It's definitely going to be one of our regular places in Collingswood!

Sneha W.

Yelp
The best Italian food - portion, preparation, service and food - all are made to perfection. This place came highly recommended from one of my mom's group - no wonder it does has great reviews. Everything about this place - decorum, ambience and staff was just fantastic. We will highly recommend this place to people and will definitely be coming back and probably be regular there. The pomodoro sauce is delicious.

Sal B.

Yelp
First visit I ordered veal parm. Veal was prepared very well but unfortunately the tomato sauce wasn't up to the same level. Lacked taste. My wife has the lasagne she was unimpressed. I had a couple bits and confirmed her opinion. Calamari was very good

Emily C.

Yelp
Came here with a girlfriend for a night out during the pandemic. We both had never been but had heard good things. We couldn't figure out what to get because the whole menu looked amazing! We got delicious bread to start and I could not put it down! Our kind waiter read us the specials and we both knew that we needed to try the lobster ravioli! We also got mussels in white wine sauce for an appetizer. The mussels were delicious! The lobster ravioli was also very amazing! I loved that it had shrimp with it as well. I had wished I saved some bread to dip in the sauce, so make sure you do! Overall, 10/10 food, staff, and ambience. The inside of the restaurant is nice and dim and would be a great spot for a romantic dinner. Wasnt too loud or crowded either!

Yelp
I came here for a belated Christmas celebration, with my family, for the second year in the row. We had a table reserved, so there was no wait. To start, the table receives rolls with an amazing herb dip. The rolls were warm and delicious. My mother and I split a side salad, which was pretty basic. Lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, and house made balsamic. The balsamic was very good- nice and thick. I had the crabmeat with linguini and spinach. There was a lot of crabmeat and fresh spinach. The linguini was supposed to have a lemon olive oil sauce, however the sauce was bland and devoid of all flavor. I think it's because my pasta came straight from the pot and didn't rest- hence the "sauce" became diluted. Another person at my table had the same dish and said the sauce was delicious. I would not order this dish again. My mother got the Ravioli Rosa- lobster ravioli with shrimp in a vodka sauce. That was delicious, but a ridiculously small portion. There were 3 ravioli and 2 shrimp, and a lot of sauce. The other people got eggplant parmigiana, chicken parmigiana, the special short rib tagliatelle, and a panini. They all said their dishes were delicious. Portions were large, and most people took food home. Overall, it was decent, but not spectacular. If the sauce on my pasta had more flavor (or if it was changed to a vodka or marinara) it would have been a 4 star rating.

Charles A.

Yelp
The service is the best, the food not so much. I understand they started as a pizza place, maybe they should have stuck with that (although the pizza is pretty mediocre)

Patricia F.

Yelp
I ordered Veal Saltimbocca there was no ham on my meal and the veal was very tough, service wasn't good there was only one waiter covering the whole upstairs area. We had reservations and waited for our food after other patrons who arrived after us. We will not be returning to this establishment. Very disappointed...

William G.

Yelp
This place did not disappoint! Some friends took us here to celebrate a birthday and it was a great celebration. BYOW, great food, great portion sizes, and great service. Calamari on point. Ravioli on point. Scallops on point. We'll be back soon and you should definitely check this place out.

Flora T.

Yelp
First time here for Sunday dinner with my sister. Ambiance: Old world Italian with lots of homage to the Tuscan village look. Food: we ordered to the prosciutto pizza, short rib pasta, salmon & potatoes, calamari. The pizza is just flat bread with cheese so skip it if you like NY style pizza. Their bread and oil for the table was very flavorful. The short rib pasta could have been better with smaller noodles. The salmon was very delicious in white sauce. The calamari was good too. Service: very understaffed which is pretty standard now a days. So water refills had to be harassed. Barely any check ins with food and overall experience. Overall: I would come back for the salmon and bread with oil... hopefully next visit it will be a better dining experience.

Amit M.

Yelp
Came here recently with a group of friends for dinner. It's BYO so make sure to bring your own bottles. We did family style and ended up sharing the bruschetta, salads, Margarita pizza, lobster ravioli, and vodka rigatoni. Overall, everything was good but my favorite dish was definitely the lobster ravioli.

Renee Nicole L.

Yelp
The waitress was so amazing. It's the only reason I even gave two stars. Otherwise, if it wasn't for her, I would give one star. my family and I have been going to this restaurant for many years always been one of our favorites. November 2019 we noticed the dishes weren't the same. We weren't too happy but we figured it was busy and maybe they just had an off Nite My family and I were just there on a Sunday wasn't busy atmosphere was great. All the food was terrible. Absolutely terrible. Calamari app was so bad, it was like the kind you get at a pizza shop. It was as if it has been frozen for two years and they just dropped it in the fryer. It was gross. It didn't even look appetizing. Then the crab meat stuffed mushrooms. There was no way there was any crab meat in those things strictly stuffing. Then came the meals not one person at the table. There were 12 of us said they enjoyed their meal. a few of us got the veal Marcella.. For one, the veal looked like chopped ground beef, and it taste like chopped ground beef. It was so dry there was not one tiny taste of Marcella in the slightest bit! I ordered broccoli rob with it that was so bad. It was so bitter and the big, thick green stalks I couldn't even cut with a knife. The linguine with crab meat, and spinach, there must have been four pieces of spinach. The crab meat was by no means fresh lump crab. It tastes, like somebody dropped a cup of salt in it. It was not appetizing at all. Two different people got ravioli and Yorky. It was so overloaded with the sauce you couldn't even taste that pasta that by the way was well over cooked. We will never go back there and we will never ever recommend for anyone to go. Food is horrible. if they want to continue to survive, they need to get some good Italian shops in there and make much better.Food

Yelp
Quaint, pleasant Italian restaurant in downtown Collingswood. Cute string lights adorn the interior and it made me feel like I was dining somewhere in Italy. Split cacio e pepe and Napoletana pizza with my aunt for lunch because we wanted both pizza and pasta. I loved the pizza; it was light and airy and contained fresh ingredients. I thought the cacio e pepe was just okay; I think it should've been cheesier but it tasted too plain to me. Friendly staff and very roomy restaurant. Check it out for some delicious, local Italian!

Rodger A.

Yelp
Terrible food! Chicken Parm way too thin. Neighboring table saw our food and walked out. LoL

AJ A.

Yelp
What is there to dislike about this place? Collingswood is such a cute town with one of the most charming main streets in NJ with a charming restaurant like Villa Barone to match it. This place follows COVID19 guidelines and their service is amazing. If you can, I recommend eating outdoors so you can enjoy what Collingswood has to offer while enjoying Villa Barone's delicious food. I enjoyed one of their daily pasta specials while my friend had one of their paninis (I don't remember which one she got tho!). Will be back soon!

Michelle T.

Yelp
Dined here for the first time this weekend, and it was wonderful! Easy to make reservations (inside and outdoor dining) on the Opentable app. Tables were socially distant, menus were accessible through a QR code to limit contact, and all staff work masks. They gave us complimentary bread with olive oil, and the bread was warm and delicious. Calamari was great. It came with marinara sauce and another green sauce - pesto? Not sure but it was good! Vodka rigatoni was absolutely delicious. Possibly the best I've had. A little more on the expensive side, but great for a nice evening out!

Paul S.

Yelp
We're never disappointed when we dine at Villa Barone. Yesterday's meal was delicious as always, but kudos especially to Angela who seemed to have more than her share of table to serve on a busy day; but she did it wonderfully with such a bright smile and so eager to accommodate..such a sweet and gracious person that made our dining experience all the more enjoyable. This establishment is fortunate to have Angela on their team!

Heather T.

Yelp
We came here and really just got great food and great service. It's definitely a great place for a good Italian food and great ambience!

Evelyn C.

Yelp
I've been to Villa Barone a few times. One for a Holy Communion gathering, with my friends for dinner and recently for a baby shower. The food, atmosphere and service is great. Our waitress was phenomenal especially since the shower was for a larger party. We had a 3 course dinner 1) salad 2) penne a la vodka 3) choice of chicken, salmon or eggplant. I ordered the salmon; came with a potatoes (my plate had 1-2 pieces?!), asparagus and veggies. My cousin had the chicken and allowed me to try it, it was also delicious. Even better, this restaurant is BYOB! love going to restaurants where I can bring the wine that I LOVE! Really enjoy it here and I'm sure I'll be back again soon.

Dana B.

Yelp
Came in on a Sunday night for a birthday dinner. Our waitress, Taylor, was amazing! 6 of us and all our orders were perfect, we had plenty of water, and Taylor was sweet, funny, and knowledgeable about the menu/specials. Unfortunately, the calamari was chewy, the dinner salads had a microscopic amount of dressing on it, and the vodka sauce was average. Taylor literally ran outside because someone in my party forgot their leftovers-that's dedication.

Mitch G.

Yelp
Food and service was excellent. My wife had dietary restrictions and they made a special meal for her which was great. Plus our server, Taylor was amazing! Great customer service!

Angelina S.

Yelp
I will preface this by saying one of my favorite foods at Italian restaurants is broccoli rabe. It really makes or breaks the restaurant for me. With that being said, I was here recently for my mother's birthday. It was not my first time here, but I haven't been in a while. I recalled the broccoli rabe being pretty good in the past, so I ordered it along with my entree, penne alla vodka. Well, everything was good and the food generally has an authentic feel. But the broccoli rabe was off that night. It's okay, it happens. It won't stop me from going back.

Kimberly C.

Yelp
Went here on Saturday for a friend's birthday dinner, I had their pumpkin ravioli special in a hearty mushroom sauce. The ravioli was divine. The filling was sweet which I wasn't expecting, like a pie filling, but somehow it balanced perfectly with the rich, earthy tones of the mushroom sauce the ravioli was served in, I was on cloud nine. We had to shout to be heard at times, but what Italian-American place doesn't have that issue? We shared a bottle of wine amongst ourselves (BYOB), and had a great evening.

Andre D.

Yelp
This is perhaps one of the best Italian restaurants in South Jersey. I took my wife and some friends and it was simply amazing. The food was exceptional, from the appetizers to the entrees they didn't miss a beat! The filet with lump crab meat was delicious. I've had this dish at other locations but they version trumps any I've had prior. They are generous with the portions. The pasta, the homemade sauces, the appetizers, all of it was excellent! Our server was Paul, he was friendly and super attentive. The service Paul provided is enough to make folks return! The desserts were awesome as well! They were as good as they looked in the pictures. Looking forward to returning real soon!

Molly O.

Yelp
an amazing spot, and also very fair pricing!! the decor is beautiful and makes for a lovely meal experience. the bread is wonderful as well as our entrees, the rigatoni vodka and the chicken vesuvio! every entree comes with a soup or salad, which is a bonus. for dessert definitely grab coffees as well as the chocolate cream puffs. a wonderful date night experience.

Fran H.

Yelp
Our favorite standard Italian. Great byob great outdoor dining options. Inside the table are adequately socially distanced . The byob is a great addiction as most all restaurants in Collingswood are . We started out meal with the bruschetta on toast which was perfect with really fresh shavings of Parmesan cheese . We love the fresh baked bread and oil and herb mixture . One suggestion would be to add cheese to the oil mixture it makes it so good. We had the pasta Positano which is always made with the freshest crab, shrimp and scallops. I also love the standard veal Parmesan . Villa gives you three generous filets of veal . I substitute the blush sauce it is so so good. The salad comes with the meal which is always a great addition . Service is always good and meal likewise. All in all a favorite of ours.

Clarice M.

Yelp
I had heard about how wonderful this restaurant was and I finally got to experience it. Well it was everything I heard and more. The food was old world Italian. I have traveled to Italy several times and this captured every spoon and fork full. The only thing better was the service. Taylor was beyond dictionary definition. She payed attention to every special detail and super exceeded any and all our expectations. Thank you Taylor for the great service and conversation. Clarice Maggio

Yelp
I heard great reviews about this place, hence we decided to give the place a try. The first red flag was when the server sat us down, they had a small plate of oil with seasonings sitting at the table. The waiter told us that it's just sitting out for the guest, so it's being re-used by multiple people which is unhygienic. Our food came with a salad which was wet and soggy. The vinaigrette that was on it was super sour. We ordered a lasagna and vodka pasta. The vodka pasta was good, lasagna was super greasy and had too much cheese. There was maybe like 2 lasagna noodles and the rest was cheese and some ground meat. Overpriced food and didn't taste good, very disappointing.

Malia A.

Yelp
Loved Villa Barone! After a fiasco with reservations not being acknowledged at Il Fiore down the street, we stopped in Villa Barone on a Saturday night with no reservations. We were greeted warmly and seated within five minutes. Our server, Megan, was friendly and wonderful! The food was delicious as well from the bread to salads to entrees and dessert. I would highly recommend Villa Barone! I will definitely be going back.

Raymond P.

Yelp
Just had an engagement party at villa barone and have to say they did a great job. Staffing is still an issue, but due to the good workers they do have, in particular Angela the service was great. Thank you for giving us a beautiful engagement party for my son and future daughter in law.

Chels C.

Yelp
It's hard to choose a place on Haddon Ave considering there's much to choose from. This place stands out for a few reasons. I've come here twice. Once for a birthday dinner and second on Valentine's Day. For starters, I suggest whether you have a party of 2 or more to make a reservation. This place is insanely popular and Either time I've been here they've been packed. They have two dining rooms. One has a bit more privacy and will be just past the doorway on your left. Service here is seamless. On my last visit (Valentine's Day), the menu featured a few of their resident dishes as well as a few specialties. You'll get as much bread as you like, complimented with a garlic pepper oil for dipping. I ordered the Linguini, Crabmeat & Spinach; while my girlfriend ordered Eggplant Parm. As far as dessert, a woman was going around offering a chocolate tasting. Honestly, the portions are huge so I don't ever have room for dessert. EVER!
