Villa Belle Epoque

"Occupying conjoined 1920s villas in Maadi, a leafy suburb created to house British civil servants and Egyptians working in the court of the Khedive Abbas Hilmi II, this whitewashed structure with dark colonial green window casings and balcony trim. Egyptian owner Tarek El Gendy and his Dutch wife, Beryl, have filled the 32 guest suites with a tasteful mix of contemporary Egyptian art and European and Oriental antiques. Guests can curl up in a library stocked with design magazines and books on Egyptian art and history, or lay by the pool in a lush garden of mature mango, acacia, and date palm trees. Both restaurants serve typical Egyptian dishes (the chef stirs coconut into his baba ghanoush, a tasty twist on an Egyptian classic). Amid the quiet neighborhood of historic villas, mosques, a synagogue, and low-rise apartment buildings, the hotel is a five-minute stroll to Road Nine, Maadi’s main street, popular for its mix of vegetable sellers and small souks offering shisha pipes, cartouches, and other souvenirs. The Cairo Metro stops here on the way to Coptic Cairo and Tahrir Square, while the Pyramids are 30 minutes away by car. The helpful hotel staff can arrange taxis, feluccas, and private guides."

Went there on a dinner date, place is full of couples, romantic, cozy place, dinner was really good, mushroom risotto is amazing and portion is great as well. Loved the overall vibes of the place where background music gives an extra vibe. Also prices are so reasonable in comparison to a fine dining romantic experience

Nice boutique hotel. Warm welcoming from the staff. |We enjoyed feeling the British style, and cosyness of this calm area in the middle of crowded cairo. I|would recommend the a la carte breakfast.|The diner is also very nice, and the service is great||

DO NOT GO THERE. The most rude staff ever, I just arrived 2:35 pm with reservation and they didn’t accept to give me a table at the pool… but gave it to other guests when I asked for the same they told me you have 1:30 hr and the you will have to leave the table!! 😅 I told the waiter I don’t want to be in such rush and with all audacity he told me “why are you causing us a trouble” 😅😅 I left the place immediately as I supposed to here to have fun not to be treated with such rudeness. Will never even go there.

Went for dinner. A well cooked menu, and a relaxed environment. No charge for corkage. I understand this is a rare boutique hotel option in Cairo.

We came for dinner, food was lovely but the service was far below average, we were forgotten by the waiters, had to get up and look for the service staff every time we needed anything, we asked for water 3 times and came at the 3rd time after the starters had already been served for a while, everything was very slow.. Overall not the service you'd expect for a place like this.

The food is delicious 5/5 Location is good 4/5 The issue was with the service, the delayed to serve us and their attitude was careless and aggressive little bit. For those reasons I choose 2 stars.
