The 20 Best Restaurants In St. Helena

"Loved by locals who order takeout in droves and cram in on the tight patio, Villa Corona is a great spot for chips and overstuffed burritos and it’s one of the only places in town you can eat for under $20. We like the chile relleno and sopito, or the huevos con chorizo and papa breakfast burrito to get the day started. The portions are serious, so whatever you order, plan for leftovers." - christina julian

Google
Fun place with Mexican food in Calistoga. They display kids art all over the restaurant. Clean with good service.

Google
Came for lunch, and this restaurant didnt disappoint. Enchilada, giant burrito, chile relleno, some guac and chips. Loved all these dishes, and especially the creamy, mildly seasoned guac. The staff was so kind, beginning to end. Very happy.

Good food. Very nice, clean restraint. Friendly people.

Google
What a cute place. What makes it special is the quality of the food, the actively engaged owner, his friendly efficient staff, and the charming artwork from his children from when they were little (they’re grown now) and other patrons’ kids under glass at each table. He truly cares about quality of food and service and one of the children drew him in a cape as “burrito man” of which he is understandably proud. Charming place with good food, quick friendly service, and low prices on a nice walking around shopping strip in lovely St Helena.

Google
Really good food and even more amazing service!!

Google
The carnitas tacos at Villa Corona in St. Helena are decent, but not quite the standout I was hoping for. The flavor was good, with tender meat, but they felt a bit basic compared to other places that really elevate their carnitas. The tortillas were a little on the dry side, and I think they could use a bit more seasoning or sauce to make them pop. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was cozy, so I’d give it another shot, but I wasn't blown away this time around.

Google
The best beans, rice, and tortillas I’ve ever had! The staff members are warm and welcoming, it felt like eating with family. This was a last minute decision for us and we are so glad we stopped in, we’ll make the trip from Vacaville to St. Helena just to eat here ❤️

Google
We popped in here when visiting St. Helena and were very pleased at the quality of food and friendly staff. My steak tacos were delicious and fresh. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Chips and salsa were excellent. I know that's a basic thing to mention, but they were that good. Ambience is chill. Service was stellar. We had an excellent server, he explained the menu and was super attentive, gave our dog water on patio. What a great find!

Yelp
Service: ***** Food: **** Value: **** Ambiance: small, counter service restaurant in downtown Napa with a few extra tables outside on the sidewalk parklet Entree(s): Wet burrito & ceviche Order at the counter but they still bring the food out to you. Both guys taking orders and running food were very friendly. The wet burrito is huge and the red sauce has a bit of a kick but overall good flavor mixed with the carne asada. Ceviche wasn't bad but nothing about it stuck out in particular.

Yelp
This time around I got what it looks like food poisoning from here. Last time my daughter got it too. Diarrhea, extreme headache, nausea, and fever.

Yelp
Ambiance- Crowded. Get to know your neighbors, even if they aren't speaking English! It was nice not having a COVID approved distance again. Service- Pretty good. They had to locate us amongst the not-so-distanced crowd to deliver our food. Food- So good. I ordered one fish taco and it was plenty. Looked like a tostada all piled up with goodness. Also ordered a shrimp scampi-ish platter and that was a savory gem. Came with rice, beans and some corn tortillas. Also ordered chips and salsa. Chips were lovely and they were okay with extra salsa delivery. Tried this place at its Vacaville location. This one was a bit smaller and it had more of a local feel to it. Regardless, the VV location is going to get visits more often than it has (by me anyways) because of St. Helena! Maybe for breakfast?

Yelp
Savory and healthy-fresh ingredients are used in both traditional and house recipes. The staff are awesome. Genuinely happy and eager to provide awesome food.

Stash Y.

Yelp
This is for the guy at the counter. He pretended to be nice but was very weird he stared at me while I was writing down my information for a job offer and then squeezed my hand as hard as he could

Marieta L.

Yelp
We loved this place! The food was excellent and the service was great. They were fast and the food tasted delicious. The ambience was very nice. We would highly recommend it.

Yelp
So happy we came here! We were on the way to another restaurant and passed by here and thought we'll try it out since Mexican food sounded good. It's a small little mom and pop restaurant with a homey feel to it. We ordered at the counter and found a table. While you're waiting for food, they bring you complementary chips and salsa and they even brought us spicy salsa. The food was sooo delicious!! I haven't been to a Mexican restaurant with authentic food like this in so long. The staff was so friendly also, I believe the owner was there and she was lovely and kept checking on us. Highly recommend coming here in between wine tasting during your visit!

Lisa H.

Yelp
This place is amazing!!!! I had a chimichanga and loved every bite. We happened upon it luckily so sweet of the servers to keep checking on us. and the chips and guac were so fresh. Definitely going back!!!!!!

Yelp
Great little spot in downtown- customer service is great, food and prices are very affordable. I had the shrimp tacos were good and sopito was delish.

Yelp
We wandered into VC after a long day of wine tasting. I was able to take a good look around while we waited for our take-out order. VC is wonderfully decorated! We ordered about $100 of food and everyone in the group raved about their choice. One said the carnie asada tacos were the best he ever had. The carnitas burritos were on point and the chimichanga was just right. Thumbs up to the chips and salsa as well. Everyone enjoyed their choice. The folks that helped us were so nice and helpful. We had orders from our group coming at us via text and phone and we were passing the orders to the order taker real time. The order was 100% accurate. We were able to park out in front. What a great Mexican restaurant/taqueria!

Helal A.

Yelp
Great food and service. Always love coming to this place. Best comfort food, full of flavors.

Yelp
Cute mom and pop, casual eatery with a variety of great options including pasole, which I didn't see on the menu brought to the table. Maybe because it's seasonal. Excellent, warm and friendly, personal service from the minute you walk in until the moment you leave. And to top it, the burritos are huge and they definitely don't jip you on the meat.
google avatar

Carlos M.

Yelp
The food was excellent. Friendly staff. The adobata burrito was a hit. Look forward to my next visit.

Yelp
Some of the best Mexican I've ever had! My family and I were looking for a casual lunch spot while wandering around St Helena between wine tastings and stumbled upon Villa Corona. A few things to highlight: -The food was so flavorful and delicious (Pollo Asado Burrito, Guac, Quesadillas) -The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating -Service was super fast All in all, would 100% recommend. The food is amazing!
google avatar

Joyce T.

Yelp
Very inviting restaurant and very dog friendly. Almost more dogs sitting outside than patrons! Thick crispy chips and salsa. The burritos seemed the specialty and got that with sauce/gravy. Very friendly staff.

David A.

Yelp
Stopped by Villa Corona on our way back from a winery to our hotel and the food was amazing! I grabbed a steak wrap while my wife grabbed a fish taco and both were pleasantly surprised by the waility of the ingredients! What even made the experience better was the service from Thiago! Keep up the good work guys! Highly recommended

Mauricio M.

Yelp
So happy I found this place. If you want authentic Mexican place this is it. Great food. Ordered the menudo and it was one of the best I've ever had. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
Everyone in town loves the Villa.. family run business.. Daniel and his wife are amazing, and they make you feel like family. Their food is always delicious, and the restaurant is always clean. Each dish is made perfect... You will always come back, once you try their food...
google avatar

Yelp
We love their Pollo Verde Burrito (simple, no sour cream, guac, etc.) ... a super soft flour tortilla (which I think they make themselves at a different location) filled with juicy, soft shredded chicken cooked in a spicy green sauce, rice and cheese ... topped with more cheese and green sauce ... so simple ... so yummy. Their guac is also delicious ... fresh, bright and simple, with freshly made chippies.
google avatar

Dave T.

Yelp
I've been here many times. My usual go-to is the Pollo Verde Burrito, although I quite like their Pollo Verde Enchiladas as well. I was perusing the menu and way down the list of burritos I found a flavor I've been searching for...Adobada! I asked if I could have an Adobada Chicken Enchilada and was told yes. Adabada reminds me of Fajitas, but there is something different. I got it with rice...(I Love their rice!). It was a bit spicy, but the enchilada was as tender as any other. I'd usually have a photo to share with you, but I left my phone in the truck. Recommended!

Yelp
Quality, family run Mexican restaurant. Food is of excellent quality and service is top notch! Tom and his wife make you feel welcome and are very attentive to their customers. I would definitely go back!

Yelp
My go-to place in St. Helena for a delicious lunch. Family owned, friendly service. Delicious chips and salsa. I like the whole menu but my regular order is a Chile Relleno. Hard to beat!
google avatar

Corey S.

Yelp
Nachos were awesome and my burrito was large and delicious. Fast and friendly service. Everyone really enjoyed their dishes and there was plenty leftover for the next day. Best Mexican food in St Helena.

Yelp
While having my Honda Silverwing FSC600 serviced by the Honda motorcycle dealer in Saint Helena, I decided to look for a lunch place. I found Villa Corona. I ordered a #3 combo plate with hardshell chicken taco, beef enchilada, refried beans, and mexican rice. You order at the front, get a number, and then pick where you want to sit. I sat outdoors which was really nice and much less noisier than inside. The taco shell was a bit greasy but that's expected when you order a fried taco. Chicken was tasty and the beef enchilada was very good. The mexican rice was fluffy and the refried beans came with a good amount of melted cheese on top. Definitely will return to try other menu items when I get my bike serviced in Saint Helena.

Yelp
Dropped in for a quick bite between wine tastings. What a great recommendation from a local! Fast, friendly service. Crispy chicken tacos were amazing with a lot of meat and great fresh cabbage slaw - NOT slathered in mayo dressing. Friend had the special Chile Colorado burrito - easily weighed 5 pounds. Amazing home made green sauce. Owner brought out a creamy Serrano sauce which was delish. Table salsa also home made with an increasing slow burn. Def go for fresh Mexican!

Lily Ann P.

Yelp
A Family run business that gets it right every time! So kind and sweet. I have been ordering the chicken flautas plate for years and it's one of those cravings I get that can only be satisfied by Villa Corona!

Yelp
My family and I happened to be in the St Helena Area and wanted Mexican for so found this place on Yelp and so glad we did. In fact, one of our daughters wasn't with us so we are going to make the hour plus drive there with her. IT WAS THAT GOOD AND SERVICE WAS WONDERFUL!!! We all had different things and they were all great!!! Enchiladas, chimichanga, chile relleno burrito, fried rices, were all great! I could not more strongly recommend this place!!!

Tricia A.

Yelp
Amazing food, Great service, and such friendly staff! I highly reccomend, I will be returning on my next trip.

Kassandra S.

Yelp
Totally recommend this restaurant...it's very yummy, the service is excellent and friendly staff.

Yelp
It's a clean place. Off the main street in Saint Helena. It's nice to sit outside in the shade. I ordered a shrimp cocktail and 1 taco of carnitas. The carnitas was not great. At all. It came warm borderline cold. My biggest concern is the cocktail. It came Hot. Like soup almost. I had to ask for a cup of ice. That is not a good sign. It's about 93 degrees outside right now, and I've just been served a hot cocktail. Wtf. Never again.

Charles I.

Yelp
What an excellent experience. The owner Yesinia (sp) has put together a wonderful team. Excellent food, a casual friendly atmosphere. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Great service, fast, tasty, home style service. Everything was large and fresh. I am so happy I discovered them!

Yelp
Growing up, I used to love villa corona. The burritos were always amazing. This weekend my husband and I decided to stop by... we were both very disappointed. He got shrimp tacos. Literally 3 pieces of under seasoned shrimp with spicy Mayo, that was it. I ordered a shrimp burrito and it was also missing so much flavor. I hate to say we probably won't be back... on the bright side, the services was good.
google avatar

Yelp
Great food, great service, gracious hospitality by Yesenia and the rest of the staff. We highly recommend this very popular restaurant.

Yelp
I've heard of Villa Corona in Napa and St. Helena and have meant to try it. Well, last night I finally did. We got right in and were greeted by the friendly staff. After we ordered at the counter, chips and salsa were brought to our table. Our food came out super fast! We split the Super Nachos with Carne Asada and queso. They were really good!! For my entree, I had the Super Chile Verde Wet Burrito, which was HUGE and very tasty with big chunks of pork. My daughter had the Veggie Burrito with mushrooms, onions, beans, and in her opinion waaaay too many green bell peppers. My husband loved his Carne Asada Burrito. The food was great, the service excellent! A lot of locals were in that night, & the staff took great care of them, as well as us "tourists". I enjoyed the clean and bright decor. We had a great experience and will be back.

Yelp
What a gem in the heart of downtown St. Helena! Epic authentic Mexican and the nicest of staff. They're doing covid right also, so get over here! We had the carnitas nachos, super burrito, and the quesadillas and all were !

Guerdon A.

Yelp
Have been eating lunch here for years. The chili verde pork, pastor salsa etc all worth the stop if you are in the area.

Alicia D.

Yelp
Excellent food, fresh and delicious. Excellent service. They went out of their way to make sure my husband and I had a great experience. They even were extra sweet to our pup. We'll definitely be back!!!
google avatar

Yelp
We love eating here when we visit St Helena. It's fresh delicious food with attentive friendly staff. I love their homemade chips, guacamole and salsa. On our girls weekends we always plan at least one visit to have this great Mexican food for lunch! Fun to sit out front on sunny days.

Yelp
Great place ! Hard in the wine country to find an unpretentious place for lunch but this is it. Small place, also with an outdoor patio with tables. Great tasting tacos (and a beef quesadea) and a wonderful posole soup. Owner super nice. The tell tale sign of a good place: the tortilla chips are made right there ... not bought by the pound at Costco. I asked the owner if the posole soup was good and his response: "I wouldn't serve it if wasn't !" Bravo Villa Corona.
google avatar

Jimmy O.

Yelp
I was able to order a burrito carne asada there and the chips and sauce the San Francisco's quick professional courteous and awesome I really appreciate them being there and St Helena
google avatar

Amee F.

Yelp
This is a definite diamond. Being a vegetarian and always in search of a Mexican restaurant that services rice without chicken broth and rice without lard, this was a treat. And it was dee-licious! When we will be in the area, we will make it a point to pick up some yummy food for the ride home.
google avatar

David J.

Yelp
Why this place doesn't get a full 5 stars is a totally perplexing to me. Six stars for me. After a very hot bike ride yesterday I had one of the best lunches I have ever had anywhere at this place. A friend and I split-- an order of guacamole--order of ceviche--and a Chile verde burrito. I had a Jarritos. I was overwhelmed at how much food they delivered for $34. But that was not what really impressed me. The quality was top notch. The ceviche was ice cold and so delicately seasoned it was one of the best I ever had. The guacamole tasted like they made it for us in demand--it was bright--with just a hint of citrus--and there was so much we barely finished it--no two tablespoons of preamps stuff--but a genuine bowel full as fresh as can be!! The burrito was slow cooked Chile verde and delicious. The people simply could not have been nicer--and kept offereing more chips to knock off this large bowel of guacamole. The help could not smile enough--or be more welcoming--or have provided better service. We actually hung around at a table outside for while because we felt so welcome there. Can't say much more than that--except we'll be back--!!!

Yelp
Stopped in for a bite, an upscale hole in the wall. The staff was pleasant, the service was quick! The food: my son had Carnitas tacos, very flavorful and a sizable portion. I had the carne asada burrito, very tasty and spiced well. I was expecting salsa in the burrito but they didn't add it, you have to ask
google avatar

Yelp
Found this little lovely place thanks to fellow Yelpers! Quaint little shotgun size restaurant in downtown St Helena right on the main strip. The only bad thing I can complain about is there is literally only ONE restroom. The food was good, authentic Mexican food with a Tex-mex flare. We have been craving some and this filled the void. The ground beef chimichanga- just get it! Heaven! My husband was pleased with his ground beef taco, chicken and his beef enchiladas equally. The guacamole and salsa we also fresh and delicious. We really liked their chips too. They do not have house made tea so you will be getting bottled Snapple tea. The little front patio are is nice and shaded in some places. The smell from the flowers lining the patio was really nice too. Some of the tables felt like we were giants though. I did not, however, enjoy the large trucks driving down the main strip where this is located. It is on St Helena Hwy so it is a main thoroughfare. Otherwise the 'downtown' location is good. Give them a try when your in town and looking for some authentic flare!
google avatar

Kelly T.

Yelp
This is the real deal and it is so great that it exists in the valley! I love their burritos, chile rellenos, guac, etc.. I rarely sit and eat here, I usually get a burrito to go or some guacamole but sitting here is also fun, it's bustling with locals. The location right on the St. Helena downtown strip is ideal. They make excellent authentic tacos, delicious enchiladas (LOVE the enchilada sauce), a lot of combination plates, but they are really best known for their burritos. So many options of meats and sauces, you really can't go wrong with anything you order. I recommend the chile rellenos with chips and salsa while you dine in and a nice heaping helping of guacamole with a beef, bean and cheese burrito to go. --Next time I'm there I'll snap some food pics, this was the only villa pic I had from many moons ago.
google avatar

Wendy C.

Yelp
It is Great to be able to enjoy chips, salsa and great guacamole while sitting outside people watching.

Yelp
Spent all your money on wine tasting? In an area of ridiculously high-priced meals (think $15 for a grilled artichoke), this taqueria hits the spot in more ways than one. Counter service, menu on a chalkboard, nothing more than $16. We had a tostada and shrimp diavola with a side of guac. Service with a smile. I wished for some sort of dressing for the tostada. The guac needed A LOT of salt and lime and hot sauce to liven it up. The diavola were sooo good! We saw a man get a wet burrito the size of my forearm and annihilate the whole thing, a woman on a bluetooth call down 4 tacos while waiting for her to-go order. That says something about how much people like this place. The food was warm, not hot. This is a locals joint with basic Mexican fare. Doesn't wow, but the bill isn't painful to look at. I'd totally come here again.
