Villa Barbaro (Villa di Maser) – Landmark Review | Condé Nast Traveler

"What’s this place all about? Villa di Maser, an elegant Palladian villa, with it wide portico and interiors filled with Veronese frescoes, is just as architecturally interesting as the others in the region. But it's also a working vineyard, with wine tastings and farmhouse tours on offer as well. It's open to the public Tuesdays through Sundays, from April to October, and advance booking isn't necessary unless you're with a larger group. What’s it like being there? Festive and intriguing. Is there a guide involved? There are no guided tours originating on site, but there are suggestions for third-party guides listed on the villa's official website. Who comes here? People here for the wine, people here for the architecture, or people here for a little of both. Did it meet expectations? It's fun and fascinating. For those who cringe at the idea of yet another tour, the fact that the villa is also a working vineyard will make this one more interesting. So, then, what, or who, do you think it’s best for? People who want to get a sense of the region's history, as well as the wine production it's known for."

Palladios first veneto villa..this was ground breaking literally..ancient Greek ideals of architecture brought back to life after 1500 years...fabulous frescoes and restaurant for lunch..lovely hilly walks. it's Unesco and the family still lives there..I loved the stables...

Book a guided tour which includes the Tempietto church, and wine tasting plus lunch at the Casa Diamante on the estate. That will make for a perfect morning.

Villa di Maser is one of the Palladian villas and the last one to be inhabited by a Duke, the husband of the late Contessa Diamante. It is beautiful, the frescoes are incredible. They make their own prosecco. It is a must see if you are in the Veneto region of Italy

Good option to visit one of Palladio villas in winter time, because most of all are closed. Nice walk around and inside. By the way, it is looks like owners are living in that villa too! Because there is a private part. Near by there is a cafe and shop.

Stunning Palladian villa, with wonderful frescoes. Sadly, no photographs are allowed inside the building.

The most magical place in Maser! Not to be limited to a single visit, to be able to notice a new detail in Veronese's frescoes every time. Nice little dogs (the same ones found in the frescoes) welcome visitors, and some cats appear as well (must check behind the sofa!).

We went for a look at the villa today and a glass of wine it was great, they had all info sheets in all languages which was really helpful
