Villa Dubrovnik, Dubrovnik, Croatia - Explore & Book

"From the moment we stepped into the glass lift and swept down to Villa Dubrovnik’s spotless pale stone reception, we knew we were in for a treat. With its modernist rooms, chic spa and wonderfully atmospheric restaurant, this is the perfect romantic retreat. Each room comes with a private terrace facing the sea and sleek glass bathrooms; select suites have private whirlpool baths. Built into the rocky coastline just outside Europe’s best-preserved medieval walled cities, the hotel is blissfully peaceful and secluded. Soak up some culture amongst the marble cobbles and open-air cafés of Dubrovnik Old Town, before returning to unwind on the hotel’s beach or in its world-class spa. As dusk falls, ascend to the cool rooftop bar for sunset cocktails overlooking the Adriatic and Lokrum Island. Our favourite moments were spent over dinner on the alfresco restaurant terrace; lights twinkled in the trees as we dined on exquisite Mediterranean cuisine, captivated by the moonlit sea and the distant glowing walls of the Old Town. Highs Excellent service from the pleasant and knowledgeable staff - our dinner was accompanied by some exquisite local wine thanks to our waiter’s recommendations Walking distance from the Old Town but blissfully removed from the hordes A private beach area with steps into the sea and a pretty garden for lounging and alfresco breakfasts An outstanding spa, with a huge range of treatments (massages, facials, mud therapies) and a sauna, steam room and large indoor pool Romantic rooms and private terraces; some also have Jacuzzis or private gardens - honeymoon heaven Lows The hotel is tucked down some particularly narrow streets so drivers will need to have their wits about them, but there’s good private parking once you get there Though all rooms have their own balcony, some are more private than others (the Comfort Room is the only one without sea views) The hotel’s beach is a rocky outcrop where guests can sunbathe and swim, but don’t expect sand or shallow water This kind of luxury doesn't come cheap We haven't visited since its recent facelift, but the renders look gorgeous (photo shoot due in December 2025)" - Melissa Burfitt

"The way Dubrovnik has exploded onto the international travel scene, you might expect to see a massive amount of brand-new development. More cheering is the sight of some characterful old faces getting a bit of a makeover — old faces like the Hotel Villa Dubrovnik, long a fixture on the Croatian seaside, surveying the old city and the waters of the Adriatic from its late-modernist cliffside perch, in what's possibly Dubrovnik’s prime location." - Tablet Hotels

Villa Dubrovnik | Best places to stay in Dubrovnik | Bucket List Travels

"Built into steep cliffs overlooking the azure Adriatic, this minimalist white hotel was reconstructed in 2010. All 56 rooms have a contemporary design, glass-walled bathrooms with under-floor heating, and private sea-view terraces (some with Jacuzzi). It suits sophisticated couples who want to explore Dubrovnik’s medieval historic centre, while also indulging in 21st-century luxuries – a spa with an indoor pool, a chic rooftop wine bar, and creative Mediterranean cuisine. Enjoy a la carte breakfast on the pine-shaded restaurant terrace, swim, then slumber below a white parasol on the rocks above the sea. It’s a 15-minute walk from Dubrovnik’s old town. We stayed at Villa Dubrovnik in August. It was a 10/10 stay. The entire hotel has been renovated and re-opened 2 months prior. The rooms have spacious balconies facing the sea. We had a superior sea suite and it was large for European standards. Beautiful views of Old Town, free shuttle to Old Town hourly starting at 4pm, high quality breakfast. The highlight is the location; situated on flat rocks complete with sun-beds and direct sea access. The hotel provided multiple floats and access to kayaks/paddleboards. The bathroom had dyson hairdryer and a large rain shower with soaking tub. The staff was very kind and helpful. I’d highly recommend for Dubrovnik. We looked at Excelsior too and this was 100% worth the extra money.

Recently renovated and redesigned by Arthur Casas, this iconic hotel has, through various owners, shapes, and restorations, managed to preserve everything that makes it not only Dubrovnik’s most exceptional and exclusive retreat – but the most remarkable in all of Croatia. What truly sets it apart is its phenomenal staff, composed of local experts deeply rooted in the region’s history, gastronomy, and traditions of hospitality; its direct access to the sea, where the raw, authentic beauty of the Mediterranean has been carefully protected; and the sense of privacy and warmth that defines every guest’s experience. The recent renovation, thoughtful redesign, and refined new branding have preserved all the qualities that first made us fall in love with Villa Dubrovnik – while adding layers of charm and beauty we never imagined were possible.

First of all, the photos currently shown online are outdated – the entire hotel has been completely renovated. The results are breathtaking: our bathroom was entirely made of marble, and every detail of the design reflected the highest quality and style. We were more than satisfied – we were impressed. Breakfast was absolutely first-class, with impeccable presentation and taste. The service team was friendly, highly professional, and consistently attentive without being intrusive. The location, the tranquility, the atmosphere – everything was simply perfect.

We just checked out of a three night stay at the newly renovated Villa Dubrovnik. Everything was exceptional! The food was great and the views all around the hotel were breathtaking. The hotel was immaculate and the service was professional and friendly. They went out of their way to accommodate any requests. Two of our bags were lost by Delta and the reception at the hotel called the airport to coordinate transfer of our bags to the hotel when they were found. Highly recommend this hotel!

Beautifully renovated hotel. Our room was lovely but on the smaller side. The location is secluded yet accessible. However the level of service did not justify the cost for a 5 star designation. Most things met expectations, but nothing exceeded expectations. The staff is friendly and professional and did what's asked of them, but nothing more... no one went above and beyond. No one went out of their way to anticipate needs or to problem solve, et cetera. No, one offered any help.We didn't expressly ask for. And when we ran into roadblocks with reservations or taxis etc there was no problem solving or strings pulled or anything like that. As guests we never felt special. It was particularly notable because the hotel was at less than 50% capacity when we stayed. They had literally dozens of staff members standing around waiting for something to do. We saw more staff than we did guests. One notable example is we had a problem with the hotel shuttle (which for some reason has very limited hours). We were in old town were running about 5 minutes late to get to the shuttle. We asked the front desk if the shuttle could wait or come to the other gate to meet us. We were basically told no. So we literally had to run through Old town after my birthday dinner to make it. Only to find out there were no other clients using or waiting for the shuttle. We were the only ones who needed the shuttle. Despite this the shuttle was not willing to commit to waiting 5 minutes for us or come closer to meet us. That is not 5 star service, and definitely not what you expect for the price this hotel costs. Also, the hotel shuttle only running 3pm-11pm is strange considering the distance of the hotel is about a 15 minute walk to the old town. Why would the shuttle not run all day? For that price point and a five star designation, the hotel should be outstanding. Whereas our experience was simply "good." The one exception I would say was the spa. We had a couple's spa treatment (Dalmatian Extravaganza) both of our therapists did excellent work. It was really well done.

The staff. The facilities. The ability to jump directly into the sea. We love this place and that it's away from the noise of the city center, but close enough if you want to explore. The warm hospitality wasn't forced here, it was authentic and we absolutely loved our experience. If we ever come back to Dubrovnik there's no question where we will stay.
