Villa Gallici

"Luxury and tradition with not a hint of ostentation. Sun - drenched French cuisine to relish around the coffee tables of the superb salons or next to the plane trees on the pretty terrace. They have even fitted out a stylish wine cellar where you can sample a few vintage wines. The spirit of the South of France!" - Michelin Inspector

Villa Gallici

"Housed in an 18th-century mansion surrounded by lavender and cypress trees, this Relais & Chateaux property is a draw for both its proximity to Aix-en-Provence (it's a 15-minute walk to Cours Mirabeau) and quiet, countryside seclusion. The 23 rooms and suites have either a private garden or views of the sprawling grounds, and each one is outfitted in toile, cream, and crimson Louis XV furnishings. The outdoor pool is, of course, a highlight, as is the on-site wine cellar and spa. Head to the restaurant for a seasonal menu that pairs Provençale, French, and Mediterranean dishes with Bordeaux, Burgundy, and local wines—all served on the terrace during the summer."

Villa Gallici (Aix-en-Provence, French Riviera / Provence) 8 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Just five minutes from the city center, La Villa Gallici was created by three friends who, tired of lamenting Aix-en-Provence’s lack of a traditional country house hotel, took it upon themselves to create one. The result is delightfully excessive, more luxurious than most Provencal inns, and attaining what must be the Holy Grail for any post-modern reproduction: it seems almost more authentic than the real thing. No two rooms are alike, though all are spacious and luxe, decorated in rich fabrics and ornate wallpapers. Unique flourishes abound, from freestanding tubs in palatial white marble bathrooms to reproduction furniture to the occasional canopy bed, and private terraces or balconies are almost universal. And outside, the Florentine gardens offer a sublime retreat, shaded by cypress trees, the perfect spot for a bit of breakfast or an aperitif. Guests lounge around the pool by day, beneath the garden’s plane trees, and meals or afternoon tea are served in the salons, lit by candles at night. Just next door you’ll find one of the best restaurants in town, though this close to the city center you may find yourself spoilt for choice. Then again you might find it difficult to venture out; La Villa Gallici is something of an oasis, a quiet and unpretentious retreat, with the sort of personable service that makes for legions of repeat customers. How to get there: La Villa Gallici is approximately a 30-minute drive from Marseille Provence Airport and a 90-minute drive from Nice Cote D'Azur Airport." - Tablet Hotels

This hotel is fabulous. Interior decor is over the top…it’s just beautiful. Room #8 might be a little much if you’re a minimalist. But for a maximalist, welcome to heaven! I had thought the wall covering was simply a wallpaper but instead it’s silk damask. Stunning! And don’t miss the gardens and the exceptional sculptures. When you combine all this with a friendly and accommodating staff, spotless maintenance and a world-class gourmet restaurant, you’ve have a memorable and happy stay.

Exquisite boutique hotel (relais & châteaux) located on the hills above the city, at walking distance from the center. The historical value of the building cannot be dismissed. Beautifully decorated suites and rooms. Incredibly terraces and gardens. Spa, pool and restaurant complete the offer. Parking available. Service is welcoming and friendly.

I spent four nights at Villa Gallici and felt like I had landed in paradise. The staff are warm, welcoming and helpful. The property is stunning. I have never slept better! I took advantage of the gorgeous pool and booked a massage as well. The massage therapist was amazing. I also had dinner in both restaurants and my meals were fantastic. I cannot say enough positive things about Villa Gallici. I hope to return!

A beautiful property tucked in the heart of aix en Provence. The service was so attentive and the decor and whole environment was to die for. Our dinner at Taula was the most amazing meal we had in our entire two week stay in France. I will be dreaming about those cheeses forever! It was a magical experience. I loved our room and my only regret was only staying here for one night!!! Thank you so so much for a one of a kind experience and thank you to all the staff that made our stay so special.

Lovely hotel with very welcoming staff. Highlights were the complimentary afternoon tea, featuring a delicious daily pastry. The buffet breakfast was wonderful with an array of enticing offerings. |I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 for the following reasons:|Shower was located in an awkward tub which was hard to get into. There were no outlets for your phone. You had to unplug a lamp to get access to an outlet. And the signage for the hotel is awkward. Ubers can’t come directly to the entrance.

Staying at Villa Gallici felt like being swept into the 18th century—every detail, from the ornate furnishings to the romantic gardens, was pure magic. My partner and I were completely enchanted by the charm of the property, but what truly set our stay apart was the impeccable service. The entire team went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and cared for, anticipating every need with grace and warmth.||Having a car made our visit even more enjoyable, as Aix is incredibly well-located for easy day trips to nearby towns and the stunning Provençal countryside. Still, we often found ourselves eager to return to the peaceful elegance of the villa each evening.||We’re already planning our return—Villa Gallici is a true gem, and we can’t wait to be back. Thank you to the entire team for an unforgettable stay.

From the moment we arrived, there was a lack of attention in service paid to us. We were stuck behind a floral delivery person who insisted we back up to accommodate her, with no assistance from any staff member. There were no staff present, in fact, at the entrance / valet to the hotel at all when we arrived. We walked ourselves up to the hotel. We generally felt that we were bothering the staff when we requested anything. We asked for a glass of wine in the restaurant area prior to our dinner and were acknowledged, but never offered a glass of wine. There are staff everywhere but they seem more concerned with doing whatever duties they have been tasked with than actually attending to guests who are paying over €1000 per night to stay there. The rooms, while lovely, don’t function for the modern traveler. There is not enough space for baggage. The sheets are just ok and the pillows are not even real down/ feathers but fake down and very hard. Turndown consists of throwing a bunch of rose petals on the bed. No one wants that. Might be nice if you are 75 but not if you are 40. No one offered us anything when we sat by the pool for two hours. Not even water. Extremely disappointing. I feel it was a complete waste of money. We are staying at a much nicer and less expensive villa in the same town now and I am so much happier not being at Villa Gallici.

Went to Aix for the Cezanne exhibition and stayed at Villa Gallici because we had been over 20 yrs ago and after reading the good reviews. Looking at the website I didn't remember the rooms as so gaudy and just assumed it can't be that bad.|Tastes are very personal of course and it seems many guests liked the style, but I found the room very oppressive and suffocating. Wallpaper, curtains, bedding etc were a mismatch of colors and patterns and there were so much knickknack and ceramics and figurines everywhere. if you are looking for a provencal style, light and airy, southern, mediterranean, don't go there.|We paid 1400 Euros per night for a crammed deluxe room, I think it was 32sqm, with the bathroom up a creaky staircase. These are New York or London luxury hotel prices. |We asked for extra coffee capsules and were charged 10 Euros, which was petty and the Diet Coke in the minibar was around 12 Euro, also outrageous. |Staff at reception and breakfast were lovely however. But that doesn't make up for the extortionate prices and the bad decor. We wouldn't go back.
