La Villa Lorraine

We celebrated my husband’s birthday at Villa Lorraine and had an amazing experience. The food was exquisite, the wine selection was excellent, and the location is beautiful. It was a bit crowded, but the atmosphere remained elegant and comfortable. The staff was friendly and professional, and parking was easy. A truly memorable evening—highly recommended!

Amazing experience at villa Lorraine. Had the opportunity to attend a delicious dinner on a private part of the restaurant. We enjoyed a large set of small dishes which I managed to take a picture of a few as I couldn’t resist them.

The area around the restaurant is beautiful. Very green, very forestry. Looked like a perfect running trail. The Interieur matched the neighbourhood perfectly. Indoor trees, very considerate lightning and comfortable, stylish seating. The service was very friendly and attentive, yet there were a bunch of small hickups, for example dropping the caviar in to the sauce while serving. It did not influence the experience much, but that was usual. The amuse bouche were a great start. Small bits with interesting flavours. The first course impressed with its presentation. While the scallops and sauce were fairly basic, the frosted coconutmilk was a great addition, that added a sensoric deviation. The second course was my highlight of the night. Perfectly cooked celery with truffles and a perfectly matching consommé. Strong flavours, clear combination, pure enjoyment. The fish course was excellent in flavour and very well rounded at that. It was not the most exciting, but there is no need to constantly reinvent the wheel. The lamb was another excellent dish. As usual the jus was the real star of the meat course. Once again nothing overly fancy, but absolutely well done. The tartlet offered another great experience for the taste buds. The pre-desert was nice, but nothing overly memorable. Very much in contrary to the main desert with it’s quince. Lovely dish, very fresh and fruity, creamy and not too sweet. I had a great evening. My highest regard for Yves Mattagne and the team!

Beautiful setting and elegant atmosphere, but the overall experience didn’t quite meet the standards expected of a two star restaurant. The food was good but not especially memorable. Service was inconsistent, when we ordered cheese, the server needed to be briefed on the selection and no accompaniments like quince or nuts were offered. It was also a bit noisy, which may suit group dinners but took away from the fine dining ambiance. As one of the last tables, we had trouble finding staff to settle the bill. We visited in early April, and it’s understandable they’ve since lost a Michelin star.

Very nice dining location, great atmosphere, and exquisite combination of textures and tastes. Friendly and welcoming staff, although mostly french speaking. Food was excellent, great place in one of the more exclusive areas of Brussels.

Absolutely fantastic in all areas. The atmosphere as welcoming and comfortable, the service sublime, the food delicious, and staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. And thank you for the extra special touch for my husbands birthday!

Fantastic restaurant with a great location, delicious food, and an amazing team. Prices were surprisingly reasonable. Loved the personal touch of the chef coming out to check on us. Highly recommend!

It has always been our favorite place for quality time around the table (private or professional). Our last experience was on Friday 8/11/24 to celebrate an anniversary (4 people) with a five courses menu and wine pairing.The place is gorgeous, the valet is a gentlemen, the food is outstanding but the team and service was not welcoming. For instance, the oenologist looked like he was irritated working, serving quick and leaving fast. At some point, he even stopped making a wine presentation and description. When we asked the manager for more information about the wine, he called the oenologist back who showed up annoyed and just mentioned the name of a grape variety and left as fast As for the rest of the service, the all team seemed to be in a rush and puting pressure on us to move on. Two times, they removed the plates before everyone was finished eating. This time we haven’t seen the chef -  Yves Matagne - which might explain the behavior of his team. Anyway, the quality relaxing time was not there which is a pity knowing that it was what we loved about that place. It’s like getting a massage as if everybody around is stressed, pushing you… Anyway, we paid more than 1K and would  really appreciate it if the issues described above would be addressed, as this is what is expected from a 2 star Michelin restaurant.

With all the star restaurants I've been to, this was my least favourite. The overall experience was extremely mediocre; to begin with, when we arrived and got seated we waited for 15 minutes before someone could notice that we weren't attended or offered aperitif yet. After we had our aperitif, the man who brought our 1st appetizer should have informed the main waiter, that my partner wasn't a meat eater (which we had clearly started) The main waiter then came along with a meat suggestion. However, this wasn't the main concern. Few things that I would like to point out are: * Food was very mediocre (especially the dessert, it seemed like a brownie from Starbucks and nothing of a star restaurant) * We were at the restaurant until midnight and most of the customers had gone, but a few were left, to my surprise I notice the waiters went to bar and were cheering to the left-over champagne. I believe they could have just waited a bit. * The wine which was presented with the fish dish was empowering the fish taste, therefore I believe it was a poor choice. * It spoilt my evening because it was the birthday of my friend and in my reservation email and confirmation phone call I had specifically mentioned to do something during the dessert and they had promised that they would. (They totally forgot about it and I couldn't remind them while I was being seated there) * After we paid the bill, there was not one to thank us for the visit or to check if we were fine or ready to leave, no one offered to get our jacket either) * Cherry on the cake is when I arrived at the Vallet Parking no one was there and I had to run around the restaurant parking in rain looking for someone. All of the above is not a big deal but it's something I would expect out of a Brasserie not a "STAR" restaurant, if I were from Michelin I would drop the *.

We don't often go to Michelin star restaurants. However when we do ... wow! Our lunch at La Villa Lorraine was pure perfection. Classic dishes with a modern twist. A perfect service. Fantastic wines. The surprise was that the lunch overall is more than affordable (for the quality for the meal) and bonus point - La Villa Lorraine also offers a special youth price which I would totally encourage those young enough to take advantage of. Went there for the lunch menu, impeccable service and fantastic food. Very creative.
