The Best Hotel Breakfasts We Ate This Year

"Villa Pescadores is a (seriously) eco-friendly hotel in Tulum’s national park zone modeled after a traditional fishing village, so you can count on their meals being made from local, fresh ingredients. ... The avocado toast and acai bowl with homemade granola, local honey, and seasonal fruit was anything but basic, and I have yet to find a worthy match."

Villa Pescadores | Best places to stay in Tulum

"Location, location… There is no better in Tulum. The broadest, whitest beach, the ruins perched on the cliff right outside your door. Each cabin is glass-fronted and comes with a large deck. Interiors are dominated by queen sizes and decked out in polished rustic local woods and palm-thatch and fashionably furnished with distressed wood wardrobes. Walls are painted ochre and warm yellow. And while the palm-thatch cabins are very simple, they open onto the ocean. The most luxurious resorts in Tulum don’t have this view or this quality of beach; let alone at such a great-value price. There is, however, no pool. " - Alex Robinson

THIS WAS THE BEST PART OF OUR MEXICO TRIP! The room was so cute, it even had a coffee station. The hammock was so relaxing, that we ended up napping in it instead of doing our planned activities. Our room had a ocean view, and it was incredible. Living in the middle of the jungle with trees giving you shade on a sunny day, while you feel the cool breeze from the ocean just washes away any stress. All of the staff were funny and friendly. The trees grow through the room and is part of the furniture almost. It was so cool. Our kids 8 and 5 both LOVED IT. Would certainly highly recommend it our friends and we are already making plans to come back to the same room.🏝️

For anyone looking for a super lovely and chill place to stay in Tulum, it really doesn’t get any better than this! With a slightly rustic and bohemian vibe, this hotel is perfectly situated on the beach with everything you need. It is an eco friendly hotel, which I really appreciate, and the food and drinks are all fresh and delicious. It is located within a national park, practically in the shadow of the Mayan ruins and away from the clubby, loud bustle of other parts of Tulum. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful, arranging anything I needed including massages, taxis and airport shuttles. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone wanting a super relaxed and cozy stay in Tulum.

10/10! Francisco was amazing and extremely attentive, while still giving space to relax. The place is beautiful with ample seating. There’s tables, loungers, etc all with the choice of shade with a great view of the ocean. It is right on the beach and very accessible from the street or ruins.

A truly unique experience! Quite and clean with only 22 units. You are staying in the protected Jaguar park within walking distance to the Tulum ruins and the lighthouse. This section of Tulum has the best white sand beaches and clear blue water in the area. There is a reef just out front to take a short boat ride to for some snorkeling, also on the protected maritime waters. Don't worry too much about being a "prisoner or in a jail" like some other reviews have stated. That area of the beach does "require" daily access for walking the beach. That being said we stayed 5 days and purchased one additional $120 peso wristband as we left for the day mid stay. Those red $120 wristbands also allow you access to the electric taxi vehicles to travel all through the park. If you show your reservation at the gate they pretty much wave you through. Our vehicle was never searched and we weren't interrogated or anything. Everyone at the gate was pleasant and helpful. Just keep your initial wristbands on from the ruins and park and you can then pretty much wander the beach with no issues. The police will just remove the expired one and have you buy another if you do happen to run into them. You won't be arrested or imprisoned and they won't shake you down or anything like that. You can walk the beach to the lighthouse (entrance is free of charge). It's kind of a small price to pay for the quite, secure and tranquil stay you will enjoy free of vendors on the beach. Sure the units may be slightly dated but they are part of two protected areas that require massive amounts of red tape to make any sort of additions or remodeling which also keeps the new resorts and construction away which also preserves the unique stay you will enjoy here. Restaurant was good with service to your door. Prices are slightly higher than the city of tulum because of the addition taxes the government assess to businesses operating in areas like this. We were never able to get any drink specials or anything here. We inquired but were told the next tomorrow, tomorrow came and there werent any. We did find more cost effective dining options, and buy one get one drinks close by but you just have to explore. Overall a pleasant stay at a very unique property..

Rooms: We all had small electric shocks in the room (number 7), my husband when he touched the kettle, my daughter as she washed her hands and myself when I stepped on the porch with wet feet. They had technical team come in and check, it did improve but not completely. Service: Restaurant staff doesn’t speak good English, they misunderstood our orders twice. Dinner menu can improve. Prices are a bit high. Location: Great location, we were able to enjoy the sea and the beach in November.

My mom and I stayed here for a birthday trip and had a wonderful experience! We were pleasantly surprised after reading some negative reviews. The national park entry was not a hassle at all and we only paid it one time since we entered back in after the park closed most times. We felt safe here and everyone was friendly and helpful!

Great escape in paradise for my daughter and I to celebrate our birthdays. If you are looking to disconnect with all that is toxic, electronics and embrace nature with all of the beauty that the world has to offer this is certainly the place to go! |From moment I reached out freaking out that I had to find parking for a rental car I had not expected and Victor was like, no worries I have a space for you to when technology called us at the end when leaving and could not process final payment, the team at the villa was gracious, helpful and so welcoming! |So a few things that are true and some misconceptions and mis truths that other reviews stated.|1. Yes, it is inside a beautiful National park! What a bonus to live for a few days in such a beautiful, well maintained space! |2. Yes there is a small fee to enter park only between 8am-6pm however it gives you access to the entire park with beautiful walking/hiking paths, beaches, free drinking water, restrooms and trolly service! What a true value!|3. No, they do NOT charge to you come and go from the resort! The parks fee is all that is charged. And if you leave during business hours there is no fee, nor if you come in after 6pm.. we only ended up being required to pay for 1st day. |4. No they do NOT turn off all power during the day, only the AC. No ones fridge is loosing power, ceiling fans and everything works just fine. |5. Staff was amazing! I had a “porch” light out mentioned it and while we were gone for short walk it was repaired. |6. Felt super safe! You are not only in a National park but the resort also has security on staff 24-7! We accidentally left our safe open and we everything was there including several thousand pesos and our passports. We walked under moonlight from a restaurant more than a mile away along the beach late one night and never felt unsafe.||Finally… bottom line if you are super fancy and need TVs, and a bunch of worldly things maybe this isn’t your place, however if you want great people, beautiful nature at all corners and peaceful place to escape, this is your place! |Oh yeah and yes they have wildlife everywhere so if lizards scare you maybe you should book the fancy fake experience! |I

Google
This hotel is situated in Tulum’s National Park, which means that you need to pay a daily fee of 120pesos/day + an additional base fee 450 pesos to access the hotel. Every time you enter the park, you need to go through security, which was just a big hassle for us. In addition to a long list of rules of things that are not permitted to do (including the fact that you are not allowed to turn AC on from 9am-6pm). All this is NOT mentioned on their website and I think it really should be. The place itself is quite nice, open to other clients during the day, which can be a bit crowded. The huts are as they appear on the pictures, but they do smell musky. The service was inattentive and slow, much worse than other places I’ve been to. Overall, I feel like Villa Pescadores tries to be this bohemian eco-resort, but it is just an expensive vibe-less inconvenience. Needless to say, a staycation watching Netflix from my couch would have been better than coming here.

Yelp
We really loved staying here! I came to Tulum with my mom and a friend for my birthday weekend. The hotel is nestled in a construction zone and makes it sort of difficult to find as the entrance is now only an exit and cannot find on google maps. We were able to put the entrance of the archeological zone in the gps and go through that way. Once we found it once we were able to easily go in and out. We had a car rental which I highly recommend. As soon as we got to the hotel we were warmly greeted and checked in. We got much needed welcome drinks and shown to our hut. We loved our little hut, we had three of us comfortably in the two double bed hut. The AC is only from 6pm to 9am but can text the staff on what's app to turn on outside of that window. The AC was very cooling at night but wasn't much of a benefit while getting ready around 5pm. We were there in May 2023 and ended up putting our hair up and wearing minimal makeup. The hotel itself didn't have a ton going on since it was low season but we didn't mind, it was nice and quiet most of the time. The beach front restaurant was a great first night meal. We ordered the whole fish that was flavorful but full of bones. The guacamole was delicious. All of the staff is amazing and super responsive. I've never stayed anywhere where the staff was that responsive to everything we needed. They were also super helpful in getting us set up for the things we wanted to do. We went over to the sister hotel Ahau for yoga and a beach day which was so amazing. The seaweed is a huge issue here and the beach in front of the Pescadores was not swimmable. But we rented bikes and rode over to Ahau where it was definitely swimmable and had a great time. We were only woken up by the construction one morning and able to take naps later that day. This hotel is off the beaten path and you definitely need a car to get around as the taxi prices are outrageous. There are some really cool restaurants within walking distance too and we walked along the beach on our way back. Overall this was such a great place with amazing staff, Alex took great care of us. The price in my opinion was great and I would highly recommend. And they deliver you coffee to your porch in the morning! Doesn't get better!

Yelp
Best hotel ever! The staff are awesome and friendly, the room was a dream come true, and the view was something out of this world. We were greeted with a mezcal house specialty drink with mint and cucumber, dogs yo-yo and bullshita were so sweet, and the fish tacos for lunch. The best. Coffee was delivered to us every morning with delicious cookies, they had dinner under the stars, movie night, and much more. If you want pure Tulum beach paradise with a quiet white sandy beach, with the best cocktails, this is the spot. I wish I could keep this amazing diamond in the rough all to myself.

Yelp
My wife and I had an absolute blast at Villa Pescadores this past September. Kique and Rolando greeted us with delicious craft cocktails and the adventure began from there. The entire staff was attentive, friendly and fun. I notice that another reviewer said "What's even more incredible is the staff. The staff is BOMB." I really couldn't agree more. The huts were comfortable, the room service was a real treat, and the food was spectacular. We didn't want to leave! We rented a motor scooter and that took our trip to the next level. We were mobile and able to visit the cenotes, downtown Tulum, and the surrounding area anytime we wished. It was a sense of freedom that really made our trip come to life. This was a trip that I'll remember for the rest of my life. Villa Pescadores was amazing and I would definitely stay there again.

Yelp
The property is a working construction zone. Nothing offered in exchange for the major inconvenience. Expensive hotel. Spend day and night listening to heavy construction while paying hundreds per day. Nothing offered in exchange. Hotel ownership essentially told us that this is our problem.

Yelp
Had a great time at this bar!!!! They take cash and card which most bars don't on this beach. Try the tacos, the guac, the ceviche, and coco loco drinks in the coconut! Good service and gorgeous views.

Yelp
This hotel is amazing. It's not a big place it's kinda a small boutique hotel. Right on the beach with the most incredible open air tiki hut restaurant. It's the closest place to the Tulum Ruins. In fact you can see the "castle" from the beach. The beach is lovely with tons of space to lounge, with several hang out areas. There is also a beach side bar that has swings! It also serves awesome food & drinks beachside. I had a salsa one afternoon that was made with pumpkin seeds omg so incredible! The fishing boats come up on the beach in the afternoons & as the sun sets over the Pacific Ocean the surrounding beauty is beyond compare. Pure tropical paradise. I spent a lot of time hanging at the beach bar swinging in the swings drinking margaritas & shots making friends new & old. It's hard to beat this spot on the beach. I'm 100% a beach person & this spot has to be in my top 5 EVER. It's really that great. The tiki cottages are the epitome of tropical paradise with all the creature comforts you could possibly need including AC. A little rustic but stylish, Bohemian chic, simplistic, yet romantic & very cool. What's even more incredible is the staff. The staff is BOMB. They are so sweet but so professional. Just totally cool, upbeat happy people that make you feel like family. Very very special staff at this place. Hanging in this drop dead gorgeous place it's impossible not to be in a good mood. It's not the kind of place that has super brand new modern floating sinks in the bath, super lux marble tile surround, chandeliers & that kind of urban upscale city stuff. It's nothing like that. If that is what you want this is not your groove. If you like a rustic tiki hut style, a natural tropical ambiance, in a romantic setting with super comfortable beds, incredible local food & the most incredible friendly staff, your paradise awaits. You can walk around this whole place barefoot in the super soft white sand. It's like your on your own little island. The sand is so WHITE, soft & luxurious! The extra touches at night like all the candlelight & the little galvanized tubs of water to wash your feet when you come & go from the restaurant are extra cool. I tried hard & racked my brain to come up with something that was bad here & the only thing I could possibly think to improve is the water pressure of the outdoor shower by the beach. And it was still not bad! Please don't stay here bc I want to be able to get reservations, often. Ha ha ha. I can't wait to return. This place is perfection.

Yelp
Please read this review in order to fully understand what you are getting into. Beach: tulum and nearby areas are suffering from almost a permanent invasion of algae that cover the beatch and water. It smells terrible and you CANT swim. The hotel is made up of huts. These structures do not have proper cooling( my opinion). The ac units are small and turn off during certain hours of the day and the ac control is not in your room. Unless your use to hot and humid, this will be a shocker. The staff is great and the food is overall good ( don't eat the octopus..too dry). Fyi: the huts that are beach front are right next to the bar/dj so if you are looking to rest on a Saturday, I hope you enjoy base music. One last thing: the hotel has 2 boat structures that are used as pools,, they are small and can be a disappointment if you can't swim in the beach and themes somebody in the boat.Overall great place

Yelp
Of course staying in air conditioned huts right off the beach is a luxury few get to experience, and one I absolutely appreciate, but there's a few things about stay that kinda dragged down the experience. * I paid to get an ocean view casita, but ours was well off the beach. You could only view the ocean from the patio if you looked 90 degrees to your left through a bunch of vegetation. It was a peekaboo view. I would say only 1 of the ~18 casitas here actually has an ocean view. * The beach unfortunately is covered by sargassum seaweed, as are most beaches in the Yucatan region these days. It is what it is, but if you're flying somewhere, you can/should choose to fly someplace without seaweed. * Besides the Mayan ruins (which are worthwhile), there really isn't that much to do besides chill on the beach and maybe walk down the beach to find beachside restaurants. For more sophisticated restaurants and pretty much any shopping, you need to taxi into Tulum. Which is totally fine but it's a trip. For a hotel near the beach in Tulum, Pescadores is pretty decent. I would have preferred Kai. But I think with the sargassum seaweed and the high prices vs. e.g. Playa del Carmen, it's maybe not the best value.

Yelp
This was our first stop on our Mexico trip. Tulum is such a beautiful place. Nice gorgeous beaches and the night view is so peaceful. Stargazing was an absolute treat. Villa Pescadores is close to the ruins. It's a bike ride away. Great staff! Special shoutout to Donna who checked us in. Very nice, friendly and so helpful. Our first night we opted to eat dinner at their restaurant and service was just awesome. Servers were super friendly.. Special shoutout to Fernando, knowing that we were not locals, he even offered to show the kids around after dinner. Would definitely come back to this resort!

Yelp
This is my favorite hotel in the world by far. If you're looking for a relaxing getaway, you would love it! Every villa has a small front beach patio with a hammock, the beds are beautiful, the beach has comfortable beds with excellent service of food and drinks. I also enjoyed taking long walks on this beach every day. The Tulum archeological zone is about five minutes away! I strongly recommend villa pescadores. I will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
Eco-terrific. Great reception/concierge folks. White sand beaches! Walk to ruins (those astounding Mayans). Unique and wondrous nearby cenotes. Well worth the o

Yelp
Stumbled across this hotel and restaurant parched and sweaty after a long trek around the Tulum ruins. What a perfect oasis to kick back and relax for a bit! We were seated at one of the tables under a canopy so we got some respite from the hot sun, but still had a killer view of the ocean. I went with a piña colada which was delicious if not super boozy, and shared a heaping order of nachos. I'm pretty sure nachos aren't considered an authentic Mexican dish by any means, but they were delicious and I'm not ashamed! The service was friendly and efficient, and they were totally fine with us lounging and lingering for a bit. We came back a few days later to stretch out on the beach beds and enjoy some more cocktails, and I had a wonderful mojito that I think was even tastier than the piña colada! A wonderful place to enjoy Tulum's incredible beach and rest up after a day at the ruins... or any time!

Yelp
Everything you need in Tulum! Quaint little oasis. Bungalows right on beach are simple but definitely adequate. Beach is beautiful and restaurants (one on beach one at check-in), are so, so good! Staff is friendly and accommodating. **only disappointment is that "ocean view" and "partial ocean view" rooms are really not different at all from the other rooms. Definitely not worth paying extra for the "view". Would definitely stay here again

Tori S.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I went for a celebratory vacation and this truly was the best place to stay in Tulum. Adorable villas right on the beautiful beach. It's about 20 minutes from a lot of the bars and famous Tulum restaurants, but it's just a quick taxi ride. We also really liked coming back to more of a quiet area after the craziness of a day. The hotel is VERY accommodating to every guest. They make sure you are very taken care of. The main thing that huge for me was safety here. There are security at all times checking license plates and drivers coming by at the entrance. We were so pleased and impressed with our stay. Definitely recommend staying here and will be recommending to everyone!

Yelp
**BEAUTIFUL RUSTIC BOUTIQUE HOTEL IN TULUM** Couldn't get enough of Tulum. Couldn't get enough of this place. Short walking distance from the ruins. PROS ===== Rustic cabanas on the beach front Private beach Hammocks everywhere Beach bar (with swings) Best fish tacos Best pina coladas Picture-worthy everything Taxis everywhere The music on the beach CONS ===== Rooms sell out quickly Call ahead to make sure that there will not be a rave during your stay A/C available 8pm - 8am only WILL RETURN. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Yelp
I'm giving this place two stars because for the 3 nights we stayed we didn't have working water for 2 days and it was a hassle not being able to use the restroom, shower , or wash your hands when you wanted to. Also, this place is pricey for the food quality that's mediocre for example I had a regular steak (not fancy) and my boyfriend had an order of ceviche with a bottle of water and the total was $50.00, which is insane prices for Mexico. You're able to eat agh their sister hotel, Kai, which has a really good breakfast. I had the açaí bowl with scrambled eggs and it was delicious. My boyfriend had chilaquiles which he enjoyed. We tried their burgers and I would not recommend them, they tasted really bland and flavorless but the fries were good. The service of the waiters aren't really attentive either which was a surprise to us because the previous all inclusive hotels we've stayed in their service is phenomenal. The Villa is close to a little bit of everything such as a local gas station, stores, restaurants , bars, places you can get souvenirs from etc.

Yelp
Better late than never! I stayed here over my birthday weekend in March with a friend. It was a last minute trip and I Could not be happier that this hotel had availability. What better way than to arrive at a hotel, early at 9am(no problem!)and be welcomed with a cucumber/basil juice+ vodka!!! I cannot say enough about the staff!! How sweet and accommodating everyone was including Ivan, Angel Perez, Wik, Dona, and Elonka. Our bunglow was decorated with lovely decor and only two back from the beach. The property is lined with palms and hammocks. My two favorite things about the property were 1) location and 2)large beach area. This hotel is very quietly situated at the northern most point of the "beach strip" away from all the noise and traffic, yet very accessible to it all by bike(beach and town). Also, we stopped in many beach hotels for cocktails, and quickly realized we had the best beach in Tulum at Villa Pescadores. The food was delicious, and again the staff was amazing! I hope to return soon.

Yelp
Best place in Tulum! Our stay was fantastic from the moment we got there the service was impeccable. At your check in they had everything prepared from you cenote tours, bikes and any information requested. They even bring you a welcome drink that we ended up having probably 2 times a day! Delicious! I cannot be happier with this hotel. The rooms are huts on the beach with a canopy bed. Very romantic :). Most importantly the rooms are extremely clean! Only down side is you cannot turn the AC on till 6 pm but it's ok because we were out all day anyway. Perfect touch to this is lthey bring you coffee every morning on the balcony. It really felt like paradise. Nothing better than coffee in the am on the porch. Also the restaurant was delicious! Breakfast and lunch were insanely good. Fresh ceviche , Tuna toast, Mexican corn, and grilled fish all on the beach. Couldn't be better. Our plane left very early in the morning so we had to be picked up around 4:00 am. The restaurant even had sandwiches ready for us for breakfast. Thank you Villa Pescadores! I highly recommend. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
So glad I chose to stay on the north end of the beach. The hotel is quiet and unpretentious with a laid back beach feel. Staff are thoughtful and responsive. Lots of locals frequent the north end of the beach. Rooms are spacious, clean and adorable. Great views from your cabana or your private hammock.

Yelp
I simply cannot imagine a more suitable place for a relaxing and invigorating quick getaway where convenience, comfort, friendly and welcoming service & a "low-impact" environment are very affordably offered in prefect harmony. We thoroughly enjoyed our 72 or so hours here and what this space and experience offers: - beautiful, spacious and spotless modern palapas with a comfortable bed and all the bathroom features one would expect from a modern hotel just footsteps from the Caribbean - soft white sand everywhere, with a beach that looks out on a working fisherman's launching & returning point (provides great entertainment as they come in mid-afternoon) - great beach services including plenty of beach beds and seating areas, full service bar and food options - a very good restaurant that has an extensive breakfast & lunch/dinner menus along with a huge drinks menu that is very reasonably priced Highlights of the kitchen/beach orders: *shrimp lunch/dinner item *jugo verde *ceviche mixto *fondant chocolate (amazing cake!) - complimentary coffee or tea brought to your palapa at the time you prearrange - friendly concierge services to help book any tours or arrange plans if needed - located approximately a 15 minute walk to the Tulum ruins, it makes it an ideal place to stay in order to check that out not only to see the Mayan buildings but to swim on the gorgeous beach there It had been over 10 years since my wife and I had been to QR, but staying at Villas Pescadores this time around for about three days has me convinced that this will become an annual tradition for us.

Yelp
VP is close to our hearts for a few reasons, and in the context of Yelp, I give it all the thumbs up. But it depends on what you're looking for. If it's a kind, attentive, genuinely friendly staff, charming and cozy accommodations, fair rates and a beautiful location, seriously, look no further. It's also worth noting that the food is good. You won't find "amazing" food in Tulum. We have been here three times and in our experience the food at Villa Pescadores is very good. Great ceviche, yummy avocado toast for breakfast and a damn good burger. Now. If you need to feel fancy and you're looking for a night-lifey, high end vibe, it's not the place for you. If you need perfect lines and a "scene", it's probably not for you. You will share the resort with the occasional family and a sweet dog or two, but overall it's a relaxing, charming, super chill spot. You'll definitely feel like you got your money's worth, and we think it sits on the prettiest part of the Tulum coastline. It's the last property right before you get to the Mayan ruins. So cool. Enjoy! We will keep coming back. It's our third visit.

Yelp
This is paradise. We stayed here for four nights at the end of November and we didn't want to leave. Property/Service: We were greeted with smiles and a complimentary drink. Everyone was so nice here. Concierge was always helpful with anything we needed. If we needed a cab, they gladly called them for us. They even helped us with our plan to go to a nearby cenote via a cab. They spoke to the driver and arranged a $ amount for him to drive us there, wait for us, and take us back. We also rented bikes through them, which we used to go to the Ruins, the supermarket on the edge of town, as well as ride them to the south side of the beach. The waiters were also very friendly & helpful. We loved being able walk thru the sand to get to the main restaurant (no shoes required) to grab breakfast, or grab dinner there a couple times. We also became local fixtures at the beach bar. Everything can be charged to your room, which is very convenient. Also, I had mentioned to them that my night stand reading lamp wasn't working properly, they took care of it immediately the next day. Location/Beach: Walking up and down the beach and checking out some nearby hotels, I realized that we definitely picked the right place. Pescadores has a team out at the beach at sunrise, picking up a lot of excess seaweed, some of the other hotels did not and there were piles of seaweed in front of their hotels (they also didn't seem to keep their hotels as well maintained as Pescadores). Pescadores is also a beach club, so there are a lot of people/action on the beach during the day. At night, it's extremely quiet & peaceful. This is the quiet end of the beach. It is not nearly as built out as the south end. Getting to dinner at other hotels or local restaurants required a car or cab. Cabs are readily available (negotiate the price beforehand is what we realized.. ). The reason is that it is a jungle road 'off the grid', there are no street lights. The only lights come from the entrances to the sporadic hotels. Tulum ruins are only about 1/2 mile north of the hotel, easily reached by bike or foot. Room/cabana: Our cabana faced the ocean and was right behind the beach bar. Perfect location and very romantic. The cabana was beautiful. It is rustic...wood floor boards, palapa roof, wooden sliding doors, gauzy window linens blowing in the wind (no bugs got in, except for some mosquitoes that we never saw but felt), large wooden deck and a private hammock. The bed was very comfortable and the linens were very nice, and the ceramic water jug was a very nice touch. In addition to the a/c that ran from 8p-8a, there was also a ceiling fan (w/ light) inside your canopy bed. This truly felt like paradise. I'd love to go back. You should stay here.

Yelp
We stayed here 3 nights while on our honeymoon thinking it would be a nice romantic stay. The setting is really cool on the beach and the staff is all very friendly and helpful. The wifi was strong and fast. Only a few comments: 1. The cost is quite high considering the accommodations. This was the most expensive place we stayed on our visit and had the least comforts. The mosquitos prevent use of the outside patio and hammock in the evening despite good efforts to repel them. 2. We had 3 cockroaches in our room the first night. The stay took it seriously and informed us this was not normal and we didn't see any more the rest of the stay, so they took care of the issue quickly and effectively. This is not unexpected in this region, it just puts a damper on the stay. 3. The service charge is included on anything you charge to the room, however one of the waiters asked for an additional tip telling me it was not included. I especially do not appreciate people trying to take advantage of me especially when I am already paying a premium for the room. Overall I think it's an OK place to stay, perhaps it was just Tulum overall that I did not enjoy.

Yelp
Cons: -the staff sent 2 requests for info before our stay about special occasions, food allergies, etc. I sent it back notifying them we were traveling with friends to celebrate our husbands' 40th birthdays. I also informed them of my gluten allergy. They requested the info a second time, which I again responded. Not once were the birthdays mentioned or was I asked about my food allergy. Btw, I did eat there without getting sick and there are gluten free options on the menu but don't expect for the wait staff to understand gluten allergy and know what has gluten. -our room did not have working soap or shampoo dispensers. -our a/c did not cool as well as our friends' room. They needed a blanket but our room was barely comfortable. -the shower head needed to be replaced. It was barely working, as was the toilet. -the resident dogs' barking at night woke everyone in our group up multiple times every night. -the hotel staff was ok but not super friendly. (Most spoke some English). -near the ruins but not much else. -the outdoor bar and beach service closed at 6 pm. -no spa or yoga. No place close for either. Our massage options were in public type places. -this is a public beach. There are vendors. -no phone in room to order room service or call office, house keeping, etc. Pros: -the food is pretty good. We ate ceviche and didn't get sick so that says something. -Tony was great and made our stay better. He was attentive and very friendly. They need more Tonys! -easy beach access. -plenty of beach chairs for guests. -towel exchange (you have to exchange in office but they do offer decent towels). -the bed was clean and the room was cleaned daily. -they didn't offer bottled water in the room but provided plenty of filtered water with glasses for drinking and teeth brushing. -transportation was easy. Almost always a cab near and the airport transport was clean, easy and safe. -coffee on porch every morning was a nice touch. Overall it was an ok stay for an ok price. But if you are used to 5-star treatment and accommodations, this is more like 3.

Yelp
This property has not refunded any amount of the 50% deposit after I canceled 3 weeks before our stay. The cancellation policies have multiple windows depending on seasons, but even the 50% of deposit refund hasn't been returned. Multiple emails, website direct contacts, and Instagram have gone unresponsive. They'll take your money, and just ghost.

Yelp
Nice hotel on the beach for the price, hotels on the beach in tulum are very expensive. Nice individual traditional hut rooms, nice little entrance with hammock, chairs Nice beach, good service, good food, friendly workers

Yelp
Drove to Villa Pescadores after visiting the ruins at Tulum following a recommendation by a friend from Cancun. (Note: Google Maps gave incorrect directions down a pedestrian only road.) We ordered their guacamole + tortilla chips for a starter. The chips came hot and it was great. I had the shrimp main w. garlic and it was fantastic! Others at the table had the seafood pasta, which they also greatly enjoyed. The menu was both in both English and Spanish making ordering easy, and my main cost MXN $180. The only thing that might bother some were the flies that showed up when our food arrived as it is an outdoor venue. Would definitely return & while we didn't stay there the hotel part of the location looked lovely.

Yelp
Your first experience will be with the friendly but professional staff who immediately make you feel welcome and in good hands. Next comes the rooms, which are cozy and comfortable with a beach feel but with all the amenities you could ask for this close to the water. There's also a gorgeous front porch where you can view plenty of activity but without excess noise, so you can easily relax in one of the chairs or in one of your private hammocks. The restaurant has great ambiance and service but you might as well stroll down to the beach (100m away) to get the same food and service from the beach bar. If you wanna get away from the room and into town, a cab ride will cost about $4. Highly recommend.

Yelp
I've been to very high end hotels in Cancun & Tulum, but this hotel is where I choose to come back on my next trip. No bells & whistles here, just very cozy private cottages under tropical trees with huge balcony situated in front of the ocean. Staff "all of them" couldn't be any nicer or more accommodating. "Excellent" quality restaurant right on premises. Hammocks, serenity relaxation under the trees with sounds of exotic birds/Ocean waves is what you'll get here. We had a rental car as well and made few trips to akumal, cenotes & Tulum city center. Fresh coconuts, yummy tacos and drinks and much more served anywhere on the facility, from your room, on the beach, under the trees on hammocks... One minor inconvenience I experienced was the lack of A/C till 6pm, though they have ceiling fans and a lot of breeze to minimize discomfort. The level of attentiveness by the staff makes a big difference on your overall experience. Give these guys a try, you'll become another happy camper like us!

Yelp
We love love love this place! We've been going back for the past 3 years and are can't get enough. Everyone is always so nice. If you want to get away and relax in a peaceful serene environment, this is the place. I don't want to say much more because it's our little secret and want to keep it that way :)

Yelp
If you like peace and quiet, this is not the hotel for you. I'm writing this at midnight trying to sleep while club beats from a nearby hotel continue on. When we informed the desk at 11 (closing time) we were told they would check on it but all we could do was call the police. This used to be a great hotel but I would caution anyone looking to relax or sleep to find someplace away from the noise. Otherwise, it's a great hotel with friendly employees, clean and comfortable rooms.

Yelp
This is probably the cutest hotel I have ever stayed in. Even if you stay in super luxury hotels you would fall in love. There are very limited amounts of rooms but each room is their own little hut, some are attached and if you have two families or couples staying you can have them open up into each other. The rooms are pretty large and have a fan and a misquote net around the bed for at night. There are rooms with A/C but they only work at night, I think they start on at 7pm and turn off around 6am but I can't remember the times exactly. Although it does get very hot during the day just jump in the ocean and cool yourself off, because it is literally steps from your hut. The hotel is the closest to the Ruins, and is within walking distance. They have a small restaurant and the food is really good. We ate there every morning for breakfast. We also ate there for dinner one night and lunch one of the days and every time we thought the food was great. We went into town two of the nights and it is only about 150 pesos one way. It was my birthday one of the days and my husband set up a morning with champagne, orange juice, coffee, cake, and flowers! He said they were so nice and accommodating when he talked to them and honestly it was the cutest set up I have ever seen. We really enjoyed our short trip to Tulum while at Villa Pescadores and definitely recommend this hotel.

Yelp
LOVE Villa Pescadores! BEST beach, bar and management. Can't wait to visit again. Thank you Ramon + Hugo!
