We stayed here a week and found it absolutely perfect - in my opinion you can spend more but you won’t *get* any more at another property. We’ve done some high end 5 star Tuscan places and honestly prefer Villa Poggiano, it’s a more authentic, relaxed vibe that really nails Tuscany.
The breakfast is fantastic, very well curated. Lunch you can preorder a few items, the lasagnas are incredible (both of them), I’m not a huge lasagna person but they were *spectacular*.
Pool is big and comfortable, so relaxing to listen to the wind blowing the trees. Guests were mostly couples when we were there. Cooking class is highly recommended, ended up being about 5 hours long, very well done.
It’s actually possible to walk to Montepulciano only using small local roads (ask front desk for instructions). We did it a few times and it’s a beautiful relaxing walk, very safe being able to avoid the main road.
I prefer not having a restaurant on-site, there are a bazillion incredible restaurants nearby, the times we have stayed at 5-star hotels in Tuscany with restaurants.. they’ve disappointed in quality. For one night we wanted to stay at the hotel and just did a simple wine/cheese setup from the local shops, amazing views all around.
Really can’t recommend it enough, everything about the stay was perfect. The owner Stefania is always on top of everything and provides such a classy, gracious vibe, it’s like you’re visiting extended family.
