Just finished up a three night stay at this property.
We booked Villa Song for it’s location a bit removed from the hustle and bustle of Saigon, as they advertise free transport via a private boat to and from the city. Worth mentioning that this property is a 20-30 minute taxi ride into District 1, depending on traffic.
Upon arrival we were informed that they no longer offer the boat service. Not sure why, the reception attendant offered a vague excuse about “the city doesn’t allow us to have the boat service”, something like that. I think at the very least, we should have been informed in advance as this is a main selling point of the hotel. They did offer to pay for one taxi per day into the city, after we expressed our dissatisfaction.
Our room was very comfortable, with a nice bed, view to river, good sheets, towels and pillows and a decent bathroom. The pool area is a bit tired; could do with an upgrade to the lounge chairs (stained cushions) and a paint job on the walls. The outdoor dining area, over the river, is very pleasant and the service is attentive.
Probably the best of this hotel is the dining. Excellent food. We had both “western” style breakfast as well as Vietnamese style and all were simply incredible. They have a strange beverage policy at breakfast; you can have either a coffee, or a juice. But if you want both, they charge you for one. 🤷🏻♂️
Don’t bother with the cocktails, watered down. Stick to beer and/or wine.
Also worth mentioning that the property right next door is in the construction phase. It seems like a lot of the materials are delivered in the middle of the night, with men screaming, trucks in and out, and literally a CHAINSAW running for 10-15 minutes at around 1am. This is clearly not the fault of the hotel, but it was rather inconvenient one night.
All in all, a pleasant stay with a couple minor glitches. If the boat were running, would probably give 4.5 stars.
