D.C.’s Mayor Wants to Okay Drinking in Public — With a Bunch of Caveats | Eater DC

"I can already wander around the Village at Leesburg with to-go booze in tow under the specially zoned alcohol-area approach that exists in parts of Northern Virginia." - Tierney Plumb

Drink Law Brings To-Go Cocktails to a Leesburg Mall | Eater DC

"Aiming to bring a small taste of Bourbon Street or Las Vegas to the sleepy Northern Virginia suburb, I found The Village at Leesburg — home to eateries like BurgerFi, Firebirds, and Plaza Azteca — is now letting visitors carry alcoholic drinks and shopping bags as they walk the center. Owned by Rappaport Management Company, the shopping center is the first Loudoun County outlet to tap a new Virginia ABC program that lets customers purchase a glass of wine, beer, or cocktails from participating restaurants to carry through designated areas, provided the drinks are in the disposable “Drink in the Good Life” cups and no outside alcohol is brought in. On-site restaurants allowed to sell to-go drinks include 5 Tara, BurgerFi, Eggspectation, Firebirds, Plaza Azteca, The Conche, Travinia, and the soon-to-open Vino Bistro and ChefScape; the center hosts over 60 stores, restaurants, and entertainment venues, though it’s unclear whether red wine will be discouraged at shops like White & Ivory jewelers. The change follows a state law permitting “lifestyle” shopping developments (at least 25 acres and 100,000 square feet) to let patrons stroll the site with alcohol." - Tierney Plumb

The Village at Leesburg boasts a wide array of dining and treat options – from restaurants and tea room to coffee shops and ice cream shops. It’s also a charming, walkable spot with lively events on weekends and special occasions. Lots of dining options to choose from: Frank & Teressa's Anchor Bar, Travinia Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar, Firebirds Wood Fired Grill, Spitz, 5 TARA – INDIAN CUISINE, Bandit Taco, BonChon, BurgerFi, Dana's Cake Shoppe, Gogi 92 Korean BBQ, Mochinut, Noku Sushi, Hibachi, & Ramen, Noodles & Company, Plaza Azteca, Rita's Italian Ice and Frozen Custard, The Conche, Vino Bistro, and Weird Brothers Coffee.

We were at the village at Leesburg January and thought it was a really nicely laid out place with lots of parking that was convenient and easy to find. We came here to go to Weird Brothers coffee and it was awesome. One thing we didn't love is that there was more to do with food there than with other types of shopping. But we did like that there were services there... a spa for instance.

Variety of food and live music. Family friendly with kids running around and a bar with food truck kind of options. Good for date night bringing a small kid out meet your friends for a drink and a snack.

First time experience. We were welcomed with warm smiles, friendly conversation and gracious attitudes 😊 they heard me say happy anniversary to my husband and gave us a flavored tea to take with us because she heard I liked peach. 😊

Not the best that Leesburg has to offer is community with regard to shopping centers in my humble opinion. I sat this because I spent a good 45 minutes observing this location, and my conclusion was this location is dated. It looks more like a truck stop than a shopping center. Some of the store fronts had dated signs and it just didn't look appealing. Maybe this is not a shopping center, maybe this is an industrial place. However, the worn appearance of this site really begs to question why the property looks worn out and outdated versus other sites. And this is a particularly large site with some really good shops - but the buildings don't scream come inside we're open for business. At least not all of them do. There is a bank located here, a good eatery and a bike cafe, but just entering this property makes it feel like you're parking in a Park & Ride. The property looks underdeveloped and really needs to upgrade it appearance. And I really hope I don't offend anyone, but I travel and shop quite a bit, and what draws me to shopping centers are the appearance. I certainly workshop if noticed this location if it wasn't for the fact there is a business here I had to patronize, otherwise I wouldn't stop here at all because it's not noticeable.

Google
By far the best place to go to in Leesburg. It has it all from great restaurants like Firebirds and Burger Fi to a top notch Wegmans, a classy spa, bowling, movie theater, clothing and much much more. Everything looks beautiful and its also just a lovely place to walk around. If you are in town and want something to eat or have fun this is your best bet. The parking is really spacious and lots of room to get in and out without paying. If you like sweets you are in luck with a cake shop, a bubble tea store, donut shop in the Village. CMX Theater is a very new well maintained theater at the end thats great for everyone. Right now door is a bowling alley, a pizza joint Wildfire and 5 tara Indian cuisine which is delish. Also includes a nice Ulta with a kind staff for makeup fans and a nice Spa that is very relaxing named Woodgrove Spa. This Village has it all! If you love a good burger check out Burger Fi - its killer. So much to do here and I might be selling it short. Go have fun walk see a movie eat laugh

Great community to shop, eat, or live. They have great events here as well.

Many restaurants, pickleball center/courts, a few dessert shops; not much shopping for other things (no clothes shops, purses, shoes, jewelry, etc. that I can remember); Oktoberfest at brewing area offered German Mosel River Valley wine tasting for free

Yelp
Our first time here. We were in the area to visit a restaurant. There is street parking, as well as four parking garages located throughout the Village. They have a nice variety of dinning and entertainment options. To name a few: 5 tara, Bean Bar, Bon Chon, Bowlero, Atomic Trampoline Fun Center, Luv2Play, BurgerFi, ChefScape, Flame Kabob, Firebirds, eggspectation, Noku, Plaza Azteca, noodles & company, Fractured Prune Doughnuts, The Conche, Vino Bistro, Travinia Italian Kitchen, etc. There are new stores popping up as well, check out their website for updates. I love that they have a Wegmans here as well. Cobb Village 12 Cinemas is also located inside the Village. This is a great place to meet up with friends or to have a date night.

Yelp
Moving up to four stars. Good movie theater and plenty of parking. The additions of The Conche, 5 Tara, and Noku have vastly improved the restaurant options. They are starting to have some interesting events like http://www.beerandbourbon.com/leesburg/show-info and with Wegmans and Lowes as store anchors they have a solid foundation.

Yelp
I feel like if One Loudoun and the Village at Leesburg had a baby you'd have the perfect mix. Most of my visits here are generally limited to Wegmans but we decided to explore a bit. Parking situation, there are some spaces available between the stores on the street however there are a few garages where parking is plentiful. However figuring out the best way in or out I have yet to master when coming here. Stores there are a lot of shops here which gives this place an advantage over One Loudoun. One bit of fair warning we went on a rather hot and humid day and unfortunately when walking around there wasn't a lot of shade to walk into give you a bit of a break from the heat. There were some restaurants here but not as many as One Loudoun so they lose out in the advantage here. Overall I'd come back mostly to explore the shops more, with two teenagers in tow who aren't super into shopping I didn't want to belabor things. The one downside is that the shops are on a long corridor, so if you want to come to one particular place then trying to figure out where to strategically park to get in and out quickly could be an issue. Overall I was glad we decided to come here and I got the chance to check this place out a bit more.

Yelp
Love this place great shopping restaurants grocery stores. Apartments are really nice. Dog friendly kid friendly somewhat traffic friendly. I wish the doggie picture with Santa wasn't canceled today.

Yelp
Now this is an excellent mixed-use/shopping/dining area! They have great stores, like Orvis and Wegmans! They also have many amazing restaurants, including Vino Bistro and Firebirds. Everything is very walkable and there always seems to be great parking when I get here. Overall, I really love coming here!

Yelp
In a word, meh. I'm not a big shopping guy at all so I can't really comment on the store selection here but there do seem to a lot of empty storefronts here along with many chain stores. They have a movie theater, a mini-golf place that's worth a try, and a bunch of chain restaurants. They also had their Christmas tree up by the start of November.....lame. Okay if you're in the area I guess but don't make a special trip unless you're gonna check out the mini-golf, see a movie, or check out one of the restaurants.

Yelp
Today we spent the whole day at the Village at Leesburg taking part in the holiday festivities they had planned. The day began with Breakfast with Santa & Mrs. Claus at King Pinz (see separate review for King Pinz), which was fun and included a souvenier photo. Then we enjoyed a free horse drawn carriage ride. That was cool. (We did tip them driver & footman) Next up was taking the kids to play in the snow globe. EXCELLENT concept, good pictures... but... the "snow" is plastic pieces and my son was choking for about 30 minutes after leaving there. They need to get a different kind of snow. (FREE) Then we headed over to do "snow" tubing on the HUGE inflatible slide. My son chickened out, my daughter and husband went. I had a blast taking pics of hubby falling while trying to climb up, and crashing at the end. The girl had a blast, but admitted a second ride - by herself - was not as enjoyable. ($1/ride) THEN.. we headed to King Pinz for an hour of bowling to kill some time before a movie. And because we really, really needed more... we went to a party with Rudolph and his Friends. It was really for kids younger than mine, so we only stayed for a bit, but it was FUN and I wanted to stay longer. It was a sing along with characters including Bumble - the snowman from the Rudolph story. My 7 & 10 yo probably won't admit it but they really enjoyed singing and dancing at the party. (FREE) Last up we headed to the movies to see "Frozen" at Cobb Theatre (you can also see that separate review). It was a great time overall, and a long overdue "fun with the family" kind of day. Thanks Village at Leesburg for keeping it fun. We really could have done most of this for about $5. Of course, with breakfast, bowling and movies it cost A LOT more. Honestly - the highlights of the day were the free things. THANK YOU FOR A GREAT DAY! (King Pinz and Cobb should thank you too because we wouldn't have come if all the holiday festivities weren't happening today.)

Yelp
This is a bit of a hidden gem, and for a commercially planned out area I like it a lot. The W&OD trail is nearby, there's ample parking, a collection of surprisingly good restaurants (like BugerFi), a solid movie theater, nifty bowling alley/arcade and a few good stores. They even have a tiny bit of night life (Finnegans & Kingpin). The Village definitely needs to attract more stores into some of their empty spaces and I'd love a bit more (okay, a lot more) nightlife but for someone who prefers "the city" it's a nice little oasis to be able to go and walk around at while not feeling the overwhelming boredom I normally associate with the burbs. Sure, it's not actually "city" by any stretch, but sitting at a restaurant on the outside on a pretty day while music from one of their many festivals flows around you, you can sometimes forget.

Yelp
My family always enjoys going to the Village at Leesburg. You wouldn't even know it's there unless you happened to swing by Wegman's. We enjoy eating at Burger Fi, playing on the playground, and shopping at Frilly Frocks. The Cobb is our #1 favorite movie theater for all flicks -- mommy, daddy date night or a movie with the whole family. There's always something for everyone at the Village at Leesburg.

Yelp
Lots to do here with loads of parking. You can go to a movie, shop or play glow golf. Plenty of places to choose from to grab a bite to eat, everything from quick places to sit down nicer places that have waits at dinner time. Really easy to find and get to and from. Plan on going there a lot and would recommend to someone who is looking to look around or kill some time, especially if waiting for a movie. The movie theatre recently introduced s new menu back in December and it is actually really decent. A must try.

Yelp
So I came here yesterday for the Movies Under the Stars. Free movies every Wednesday starting around 8:30pm. The location is great, right near restaraunts and behind the Leesburg Wegmans in a grassy field area. I am not a huge fan of Disney movies, however, they were playing Brave, which is a newer one, and not incredibly boring. So I begged my best friend to come with me, because who doesn't love Disney and Junk food with friends. My main complaint is the ground was incredibly damp. We did bring our blankets, and of course tried to find the driest area. We still ended up leaving fairly early because the soggy pants just weren't comfortable after an hour .I am excited to possibly return again, but will either bring a lawn chair, or a very thick blanket. Also, if you're an adult like myself, beware of children running with italian ices, it's a danger zone at ground level!

Yelp
It seems sort of strange to write a review of a whole shopping center BUT Village at Leesburg puts on some amazing community events and free activities on a frequent and regular basis. I want others to know about this so that other families continue to come out and attend these events and the VAL will be encouraged to keep up the good work. Specifically we love VALs Pals - every Wednesday, two very nice ladies organize a preschool-age-friendly hour-long activity... and the content varies every week. And the activities are cool! Some of our faves have been hula hooping, the Frisbee guy, free bowling, and free movies. We also love the seasonal festivals that are held in the Fountain area of the shopping center at Halloween, Christmas, and more. There are always musicians, horse rides, a guy on stilts, and door prizes. It is all FREE! Then we end up happily spending a little money at one of the restaurants afterwards, VAL also does a great job with their social media on Facebook, so I am always informed of what is happening there, which is great because I am always looking for free or discounted things to do with my family. VAL promotes specials at the business that occupy its retail space, which is helpful, because there are some really great shops and restaurants in there. Hopefully the empty storefronts will keep filling up with more unique businesses.

Yelp
Spokes from Village at Leesburg parked a truck near the route of the Reston Century- took care of my slipping chain in a few minutes so I could finish the ride. Big thanks!

Yelp
All of my kids (4/6/9) like the play place here. They have lots of free festivals, too. The "bubble show " is basically bubbles blown out of high vents near the play area and lasts about 5 minutes, but is fun. A spray area has been added, so bring a swimsuit and a towel for your kiddos. Plenty of shopping, places to eat, a bowling area and movie theatre!

Melinda G.

Yelp
We love Village at Leesburg! They've had some really fun events here, including a carnival over the summer as well as a safety day with all sorts of trucks and emergency vehicles which really appealed to my 3 year old son. My family and I frequent BurgerFi when we come here to shop, and Firebirds is a great date night spot. I also love that there is ample parking and a variety of family-friendly options here (movies, bowling, play area, shopping).

Yelp
I work in this area and the Leesburg Village security towed me for me accidentally parking in another company's parking spot. There are no signs telling you what to do/who to call if you are towed. I called the Leesburg Village security office to figure out the towing company's information and the security person I spoke with: 1. patted himself on the back that he was the one who called to tow my car (as if me parking there was somehow something I did intentionally and not by mistake), and 2. was trying to make me feel bad for me calling him at 6:30pm bc he was on his way home. Here's a tip, before you tow people, why don't you email the companies who hold parking spaces in the garage and send out a warning email. I know you won't get to pat yourself on the back as much, but that way, less people will be towed and you won't feel so terribly inconvenienced if someone is trying to find out the towing company information while you're on your way home.

Yelp
I like going here with my son. There is a lot to do here and free entertainment on the weekends (usually in spring/summer). They have BurgerFi, Cupcakes Actually, a great movie theater, Wegmans and the list goes on.

Seth D.

Yelp
This is a special place. You can spend your whole day (life) here! Wake up in the morning and get fit with The Stroller Striders or working out at LA Fitness. Then grab a coffee at Bean Bar and an omelette at Eggspectations. Stop by the new pop up water fountain and children's climbing area or attend a VAL's Pals children's event like Rocknocerous. Then do your grocery shopping at Wegmans, pick up shirts at the dry cleaners. Off to lunch at Bonchon, BurgerFi, Flame Kabob, or a slice at the Pizza place. Get the bike tire fixed at Spokes and then jam out at the weekend Plaza Party! Then off to dinner--so many choices! Travinia, Firebirds, Plaza Azteca, Smokehouse Live, Noodles & Co! Then desert at Cupcakes Actually, or Rita's Ice. Now the fun part! Catch a movie at Cobb Theatre, go bowling at King Pinz, or catch a live band at Smokehouse Live! So tired now... Luckily I don't have far to go, b/c I live upstairs at The Metropolitan Leesburg apartments! And don't forget all the fun weekend events like Great Grapes, Block Party, Car Show, Monster Mash, and the biggest (60') and best Christmas tree in the region!
