"At Village Bread Cafe diners can start their day off with items like biscuits and gravy or lox and bagels, which are all made with the bread from its sister company Village Bread and Bagels. For something more personalized opt for the “create your own” breakfast with choices likes omelettes, pancakes, waffles, oatmeal, French toast, and breakfast burritos." - Megan duBois

Google
We tried this place when we were looking for something new and we were very pleased with it. I have a gluten allergy and they were great about looking at ingredients and answering my questions. The food was very fresh and tasty and the portions were very generous and priced affordably. We will definitely be back.

Diana Autry

Google
Food was incredible! We had the corned beef Ruben w the slaw on the side, and the curry chicken salad w bread pudding. The flavor profiles of everything were absolutely amazing. Will definitely be returning to try other items

Didn't get a chance to order off the menu and was only able to grab some bagels to go. They were OK. Basically a nice store bought bagel. I think they actually market these in grocery stores but they were not what I expected 🤔 The lady at the counter wax very friendly. They do have a lot of seating space and would make a great spot for a small business meeting, if they allow that there.

I absolutely love Village Bread! It’s the kind of place where you can sit down, break bread, enjoy a great meal, and relax with a nice cup of coffee. I usually go for the bagels and lox with salmon — always fresh and delicious. The service is consistently friendly, and the atmosphere feels welcoming and comfortable. It’s one of my go-to spots, and I truly enjoy every visit!

Great place to have breakfast and lunch. Plenty tables & chairs. I think this location needs more lights or something ( felt little dark inside), but food is always great and friendly staff.

Google
Not bad. Not great. Nice ambiance. Very clean. Not crowded on Saturday @ 9am. Masks worn by most staff if concerned. Music was the best part of the experience here. All older classic hit music. As far as the food goes... Got the biscuits and gravy. Tasted okay. Kinda average like a prepackaged taste rather than fresh. Country sausage was just a standard round, over-sized sausage patty. Lots of bland tastes. Nothing to get overly crazy about. Scrambled eggs cooked thoroughly and flat rather than fluffy. Hash browns done nicely.. seems like they flattened everything to make it look like more on your plate. Toast was over-sized, very nice. No sour-dough option. Just a squeeze high on pricing for what you get. $24 with tip for everything mentioned including a bottle of orange juice and really old decaf coffee. Overall, a very average experience.

Google
The service was on point and amazeballs. The food was astounding, as a person who doesn't normally finish their food (bird eater here) I devoured my meal. Would definitely come back.

Yelp
Came for breakfast a few weeks ago and it was delicious, the service was great. It was quiet and nice which made for a perfect breakfast location. Thank you guys :)

Yelp
Food is always perfectly cooked and arrives hot and fresh. So friendly. Atmosphere is bright and cheery, lots of windows. Easy to hear each other. It is one of our fav jax b'fast spots!!

Ridge S.

Yelp
Great breakfast today... Cheese Skillet with added sausage Pattie's with a beautiful buttered grilled biscuit and a delicious cup of coffee... had my eggs done soft scrambled which were perfect... a hearty and tasty meal... great place to hold a networking breakfast with others... call me happy

Ingrid S.

Yelp
Fresh Baked Bread and Greek salad with salmon and Cobb salad... a crawfish and pepper Jack soup. All delicious and the environment feels like a granny house.

Yelp
Walking in, the restaurant is very clean and it is set up to walk up to the counter and order, sit down, and the food is brought to your table. The ladies working are extremely kind, patient, and quick with their service. The food had an average taste that left much missing. In ordering the omelet, it was asked to have the hash browns crispy, and that did not occur. There was a fair amount of onions and bacon included, but such a small amount of cheese and even the cheese that was there, it never fully melted. The eggs were bland and tasted like egg substitute. For the hash browns, it tasted like the black on the grill top that gets scraped off. Unfortunately it seems like there was much more cleaning of the grill needed. The fruit had great flavor and variety for a fruit bowl. The pumpkin bread French toast was not very flavorful, so not something we would order again, but it was ok and eaten by our children. The nuts were the most flavorful part of the bread. The crawfish soup tasted good and not something that can be ordered everywhere. For the panini, the bread and sandwich were the best out of the meal, added avocado to the sandwich. The only downfall to the sandwich was that same dirty taste of unclean equipment, but only on the edges of the sandwich, like the press was cleaned well in the middle but the outside needs to be scrubbed more. Quick and friendly staff, large establishment, but the food tasted more like the build up of the grill and press not having a thorough clean, making it an unpleasant experience and leaving an unpleasant taste. Hopefully easily fixed!

Yelp
I and my wife decided to go here yesterday for breakfast. She decided to order the California BLT sandwich and said that it was very good. She also decided to order the Potato Soup and said that it was good as well. I decided to order the Country Breakfast. The scrambled eggs were very good. The sausage patties were very good and not overly cooked. The hashbrowns were very good, and the outside had a good crispy textire to it. I also decided to have a bagel on the side because the toast is usually either a little cold or slightly burned. Unfortunately, We couldn't use the bathrooms because they were mopping and waxing the back portion of the restaurant. Parking is a little difficult to find, being that it is a shared parking lot. We will return here again.

Yelp
Clean nice atmosphere Good eats Good coffee Lots of spots to sit Nice staff Awesome waitress 3 of us went for breakfast today we got The biscuits and gravy & pancakes & so good. Side note- This music the all religious music not a fan maybe if you mix it in with all other music. It was playing the whole time if maybe at least mix it in with some other music. Reminds me of here 24 hrs of Christmas music over and over just mix it in with All music Thanks

Yelp
There is a Village Bread Food truck here at the hospital every Tuesday. I ordered grits and bacons and the grits tastes like someone accidentally pour a salt bottle into it. So I threw the whole thing away. You're at a hospital for goodness sake. Please reduce your salt Give them another shot, so for lunch, I ordered Chef's salad. Half of the lettuce were rotten. There were no bacons or Swiss cheese as it indicated on their menu. What's going on Village Bread?

Yelp
Hidden gem. This place is hidden in a big office/warehouse complex on Phillips blvd near Emerson. We went here cause our neighbors raved about it. We are not your common going out for breakfast people as I think I can cook most egg dishes at home and pretty well if I say so myself. Everything we tried was really good and we love their coffee as it is stronger than any other restaurant we have been to for breakfast until now. They also have several different sandwiches that I gotta come back for as I want to try them all!

Yelp
For several years, the Village Beard Cafe has been a favorite 'local' brunch for me to break bread with friends and real estate clients (Philips Hwy location). This morning I ordered a delicious Country Sausage, Over-easy Egg, and Cheddar Cheese Sandwich on their famous Multi-grain Bread...grilled to perfection...with a side of golden Hash Browns! YUMMY! They truly put LOVE (and quality ingredients) into everything they serve and at a fair price. Say hello to Alma, their fabulous server! I always feel at home there and know that you will too...

Richard L.

Yelp
I've been in here twice in two months and both times my expectations were exceeded. Today I tried the Meat Lover Skillet. Oh my gosh was it delicious! Everything was cooked to perfection, just as ordered, topped with (my favorite) marbled rye toast. The meats, the cheese, and the egg to order were dinner perfectly. From the moment we were greeted and our order taken, to the delivery of our food to the table, and our departure out the door, we felt like long time customers and family. The friendly atmosphere, the catchy quotes found everywhere, and the delicious food, returning is a no brainier...we'll be back!

Michael B.

Yelp
Went to Village Bread Cafe for lunch this past week and had a California club sandwich. It was delicious with thick slices of bacon, tomatoes, lettuce, and an avocado spread. But I really want to go back to try their breakfast items. They serve breakfast all day! And sometimes you just want a late omelette or stack of pancakes. Service here was great too. Very friendly and welcoming!

Kim T.

Yelp
This place is awesome. The staff is as amazing as the food! Very clean and great service! A positive atmosphere and music!!!!!!

Mike D.

Yelp
I've only eaten here once, so the three star it's just based upon my one time eating there, I went to have a breakfast burrito although it was good, it was very thin was not very full. I had the egg sausage and cheese the menu price I think said 595, which I thought included the meat and the cheese, guess it didn't because I had nearly slightly over eight dollar burrito which definitely did not satisfy my hunger. I can go to Chick-fil-A and get a big ass burrito with egg chicken sausage potato for seven bucks and be totally satisfied. They need to step up their game on this breakfast burrito thing The staff was very nice the wait was OK it was takeout, but the restaurant was clean and very modern. The bathrooms were clean. Also, which I like I know it's hard to compete with someplace like a Chick-fil-A but it definitely didn't feel like a two egg burrito and again it wasn't clear to me on the menu that I'd be charged extra for meat and cheese.

Yelp
Very yum:) a great place to meet up with family ! Everyone was so sweet and professional. They have a good selection of brunch and breakfast/lunch. I hope everyone can enjoy this place!

Amanda P.

Yelp
Food was amazing. Would highly recommend the soups. I can't wait to try everything on the menu!

Courtney K.

Yelp
Food has changed, lower quality for sure. Also it takes 30-45 minutes to get a sandwich!!! It's insane

Eboni T.

Yelp
I went to Village Bread Cafe to get fresh baked bread for my avocado toast. I bought a multi grain loaf and it was delicious.

Jowell O.

Yelp
Wonderful breakfast spot on Phillips Hwy. A great variety of breakfast options. My goto is the build your own omelette special. Highly recommend if your looking for breakfast restaurant.

kristen e.

Yelp
Friendly staff - perhaps the best service we've ever had! Amazing food... my kids are usually picky eaters and they finished their meals! Can't wait to visit here again!

Jerry H.

Yelp
I know the food will be fabulous but this is the second time I had to wait for a to go order. About a year ago I came to the same location for a to go order and I was mistaken for a door dasher. I was given a complimentey coffee. Today, I was pressed for time and decided to come to Villlage Cafe again. I must say the food is amazing but I had to wait for my to go order again. Customers want to see how you operate when you open and when you are overwhelmed. I think next time I will just dine in. It is much safer lol

Dianne P.

Yelp
I have written reviews under my other account "Dianne M". This place has the freshest bread here. The sandwiches and salads are wonderful. I love their potato soup. I've had breakfast and you can look into the kitchen area. They are a well oiled machine. The kitchen is clean and the service is friendly. The chicken salad is wonderful. I usually grab a muffin for the next day's breakfast. I also grab a loaf of freshly made bread. Today I ordered a potato soup and 1/2 pastrami. Everything was good except they gave me a fish chowder instead. I didn't send it back because in looks- it looked like potato soup and it wasn't the front of the house's fault. I was able to get a loaf of bread even though they were running short for the next day. I also got a cupcake to go. This is our go to place when we go to Jacksonville. I'll be back in a week.

Yelp
I'm not sure how we ended up here for Sunday brunch, but we did. I wasn't sure of the clientele as mostly everyone looked to be over 60 and coming from church. We heathens were in our sweats and sneakers. We ordered our food, our friend order her food and we sat down to wait. I will say the staff is really nice. They are very attentive and entertaining. My friend asked for eggs fried hard and they came out runny. The waitress was quick to correct the issue. My bacon, egg, and cheese bagel was so dry and chalky I almost scratched out my larynx. My wife ordered some kind of scramble with cheese and they sprinkled 6 shreds of cheese on and sent it out to the table. Cheese not melted or anything. I thought I would give them another chance, my coworker raves about the cookies from there. Burn me twice, I'm good. I'm sure others will have a better time.

Charmaine M.

Yelp
If you work in the area it makes sense but I certainly wouldn't go out if my way. Too much unnecessary seasoning for breakfast

EricA C.

Yelp
"You might win some, but you really lost one" If I'm basing this review purely on the staff, this place is 5-star all day. The employees are extra friendly, which is a nice change of pace these days. They're all willing to go above and beyond to help. Now, this can't be just about the service because we're all really here for the food. Due to the fact that I'm low-carbing it out here lately, I couldn't try the village's bread. Maybe the bread is where they rise (no pun) and in the words of Queen Oprah, "I. love. bread...I love BREAD." I digress. I ended up getting the Meat Lovers Skillet Sensation with no hash browns. I was expecting vegetables, cheese and eggs all two-stepping together on my plate. Unfortunately, that is not what I got. I got vegetables having an uncomfortable blind date with cheese and cheese brought its socially awkward cousin, eggs. The cheese wasn't even melted, like they really didn't want to be there. It was a tense moment between us all. My wife had a bacon, egg and cheese on a bagel. She wanted a croissant, but the village doesn't make croissants. She said the sandwich was decent, but she wasn't wild about it. Now, I may consider going back to try some of the bread that the village has to offer, but it may be awhile.

Yelp
So we are visiting from Orlando. When I tell you this place has the BEST BREAD PUDDING!!!!OMG!!!! Like seriously the best!!! This is my first time here but my friend suggested this place. He kept raving about the food. Of course I gave him the side eye... he was freaking right. I had the village veggie. Awesome!!!! The right amount of veggies. Fresh baked bread. Oh did I forget to mention they make their own bread. I will definitely return. Let's support local and not so Local businesses. We all we got. Listen during this tome they are to go orders only. But get this they have 2 tables outside. So of course being that I am a fatty. I sat my ass down and tore into my food. Everyone be safe.

Zena K.

Yelp
Very friendly staff! Solid breakfast for a reasonable price. I ordered the country breakfast and I loved it! The eggs were cooked perfectly and I really liked the flavor and texture of the bacon. The hashbrowns were crispy and buttery. I loved their marble rye toast.

Dianne M.

Yelp
Great chicken salad made with uniformly cut squares of chicken. The multigrain bread was great! The potato soup had chunks of potatoes, bacon, green onions and loaded with cheese. You walk up and place your order at the counter, get your own drink and they bring you the food. The kitchen has a large window and it is clean and busy.

Christina P.

Yelp
We were on 95N and saw good reviews, so we figured- let's try it. this is a great stop for breakfast, only 23 minutes from JAX airport. It's legit the best breakfast spot spot Cafeteria style aka food pronto. Upon walking in we had a large menu to choose from, we placed our order immediately with the cashier and paid. Following we Hit their help yourself coffee and drink station with everything you could need; their coffee is real good! The sweetest waitress delivered our food to the table. Portions were plentiful and cooked perfectly. I had eggs and the Belgian waffle. So yummy!!! My family also thought their food was delish with plentiful portions. If I was traveling on 95 in Jacksonville, I'd def hit this spot again!

Sarrah F.

Yelp
I came here today for some soft foods because I just got my wisdom teeth removed. I called an placed an order for the potato bacon soup and soft scrambled eggs. I went to pick up the order and stood in a short line since everyone picks up and orders at the same counter which was fine. I got my order and went back to the office. I opened my eggs and was disappointed to see some dry scrambled eggs. I specified soft scrambled eggs and I would have rather been told that they don't make soft scrambled eggs because of a flat skillet or whatever the case may be. The eggs also had a weird brown spot on it. I figured it could have been done msg seasoning line Maggi but Village Bread doesn't seem like the type to use that and it didn't taste seasoned. Next, I tried the soup. It was really good and flavorful. Several spoonfuls in I found a lovely piece of wavy hair. Needless to say, I lost my appetite. I can't remember if the kitchen staff was wearing hair nets or not. I'm definitely disappointed in my experience. I've heard people rave about Village Bread so I was excited to try it. Hopefully this was a one off incident.

Vickie Travelz E.

Yelp
COVID restrictions in place. Person taking the orders was not wearing a mask but all other employees were. First lunch visit - had a BLT with coleslaw and turkey vegetable soup. We shared the BLT and it was very good and big enough to share. The coleslaw had feta cheese and was surprisingly good. The soup was also good. Fast Service. #VickieTravelz

Kristen M.

Yelp
Have been here several times. Service is consistently good. Food is consistently good. Isn't overly inventive, but solidly classic. Boyfriend usually orders the skillet thing. We've had great muffins and chocolate chip pancakes. The decor is a bit blah, but we love that on the weekends it isn't too crowded when they open and the booths are huge- can sit fairly far apart to socially distance with friends.

Beth R.

Yelp
Village Bread Cafe is our "go-to" breakfast spot every Sunday (and sometimes during the week!). They NEVER disappoint! The cashier is always friendly and efficient and the servers are pleasant and helpful. The food is always hot and pfresh and the orders are always correct. Kudos to the staff and to the owner for consistently going above and beyond. Keep up the good work!

Tyler R.

Yelp
I love the bread pudding! Everything else is good but the bread pudding is what stands out at Village Bread Cafe. I've been to the old location on Philips, as well as the one in Mandarin, but today was my first time at this new location. The new location is nicer and the dining area is nice and relaxing. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the line wasn't too long and kept moving, even though it was lunch hour. I had the Reuben with their Bread Pudding. They were great.

Sarah S.

Yelp
okay so first, no masks. like at all. My boyfriend and I sat near the back and we could kind of see into the kitchen and we saw them microwave their "house made" Mac n cheese. It tastes frozen. The burger was also definitely a frozen patty as well. I got the village club, the meat tasted like Walmart deli prepackaged meat. Not good. Definitely not worth the money or the drive

John R.

Yelp
This restaurant was great. It was cleanest breakfast place I ever visited. Tables were spread out so u had "morning space" The hashbrowns were crispy and perfect and the "Over medium" was just right. Service was great and unlimited refills on Hight tier medium and dark roaset coffee.

Gina G.

Yelp
VBC is our go to local spot for lunch and they never disappoint. Service is always friendly and the food is always delicious. Tried the bread pudding today and omg, mouth watering good. Will be ordering a pan for the holidays. Must try.

Fontella P.

Yelp
Bagels and waffles were amazing. I I would recommend being very specific though about what you want. My waffles were good but they were cold and had to be heated up. I asked to add butter to 1/4 of them and a whole lot of butter was added to each piece instead. I just wiped it off and enjoyed my waffles.

Alisha M.

Yelp
We have been looking for a great bagel place around Jax. I was not disappointed! The atmosphere is a bit "office like" but the food was VERY well done. I had the cheddar bagel with medium egg and ham.. it was the size of my head!! I wish my body would allow me to eat bagels more often cuz this is the place to get fresh toasted bagel breakfast sandwiches!

JiMmy P.

Yelp
I come here because of the bread pudding. Oh man! Awesome! The sandwiches are good too. I've had the Philly cheese steak and roasted turkey. Their sandwiches comes with one side and you can pick the bread pudding as a side item. Cheap too. If I'm not mistaken, their side only cost $1.95. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE BREAD PUDDING! Please get the bread pudding!

Jason T.

Yelp
No one is wearing masks that work here and barely any people are wearing them at all that are customers as they are walking around bunching up at the counter or drink area. Social distancing also doesn't happen either. To be fair- if this weren't covid we probably would enjoy this place.

Jason S.

Yelp
This is a fantastic breakfast spot. The staff is very friendly and personable, not just a next order mentality. The restuarant is very roomy and impeccably clean from carpets to table tops to condiments. The portion size is great and all of the food was top notch as well. Not only will we be back, but we will definitely recommend this to all of our friends.

Kelly M.

Yelp
Village Bread is the gem of all gems in my eyes when it comes to classic breakfast spots. I remember when they first opened up in Mandarin and my family would go every single Sunday, even my grandparents who drove 45 minutes from St. Augustine. At this point we have probably tried everything they serve and have not regretted a single bite. Fresh bagels and bread, simple and delicious omelettes, fluffy and warm pancakes, there is nothing that Village Bread Cafe gets wrong. Equally notable as the food is the service. They have become an extension of our family, greeting us personally every time we come in and always noticing when someone in the family was absent. They are all so kind and they truly round out the experience. I hope one day they can return to mandarin, but a location change would never stop me from my weekend helping of cafe breakfasts.

Katrina M.

Yelp
So yummy. We tried finding an affordable breakfast place near downtown and this place wasn't far so we gave it a go and got the breakfast skillets. They hit the spot!

Matt M.

Yelp
I do like Village Bread, but I never love it. The food is good, and I mean really good, service is kind of no nonsense and the location is less than optimal unless you plan on rolling down the seedier parts of Phillips Highway. So we were headed to a brunch and we got the times wrong so we needed a place to eat. Yep steered us to Village bread and as always the food was delicious. I had the lox and bagels and it was terrific. My daughter gave the Caesar salad high reviews. The rest of the family all showed me clean played, so their food was good too. Service was good, not great, not very professional but serviceable. But this is also a great place for takeout.

Jay B.

Yelp
Decent option for breakfast or lunch, a little pricey though. Restaurant Does not take Apple Pay or Samsung pay. Food is good and there are a lot of options on the menu. Ordered turkey egg and cheese sandwich with avocado on whole grain.

Caron S.

Yelp
I like Village Bread Cafe - it's consistently good and serves up decent portions for the price. The atmosphere is inviting and clean, and there's plenty of seating. It's not too noisy either. I usually get the combo (6.95) - where you pick two items. I love the ciabatta veggie pizza paired with the bread pudding or side salad (mixed greens, mmm!) and the balsamic dressing. They bring out bread and oil to start but it's not nearly as good as nearby French Pantry. We tried the coconut cake on our latest visit and it was a treat - moist cake layered with icing (not too sweet!) and coconut. Eight thumbs up from the four of us.

Yvonna S.

Yelp
Worst customer service I've experienced here. Hannah L was not friendly and seemed to be more worried about going outside for a vape break! Definitely ruined my experience from the beginning, not to mention a guy taking garbage out, through the lobby with a cigarette hanging from his mouth!

Juliet K.

Yelp
The location is a bit sketch. It looked like a warehouse, and If I wasn't actually looking for it, I would have probably missed it. Parking is also a bit of a pain. BUT....Once you walk into the cafe, you are totally transported. Very cute cafe atmosphere. Food: ordered curried chicken salad on field greens with a side of bread pudding and a bottle of water to go. The curried chicken salad was awesome!!! The curry is not overpowering but just enough to hint the flavor and the addition of the raisins is divine with a pop of sweetness. Amazing. I ordered the bread pudding based on reviews on yelp and even though I'm not a bread pudding fan, I found it very delicious. Warm and soft and sweet all at the same time. This bread pudding might have converted me!! They also packed some fresh baked bread with an olive oil dip. Perfect lunch for $10!!!!

Ronda W.

Yelp
The food was fantastic and the customer service was even better. I really appreciate the time taken out to make my husband, son and I feel welcome. I will be returning for a delicious meat scramble even though I couldn't eat but half.
