A longtime favorite for generations of Stanford students, the deli was known for its hearty deli sandwiches and house spread — a mysterious 'mixture of pickles, mayonnaise, mustard and maybe even cheese,' according to one fan of the deli. Town & Country Village, the shopping plaza where the deli was located, is reportedly looking for someone to take over the location and continue running it as a deli, but Palo Alto Online notes that the space had already been emptied out completely by this past Monday afternoon." - Luke Tsai

Not at all what I was expecting. I thought it was a cheese focused cafe. But what I found was more of a average Bay Area deli that features a few grilled cheese sandwiches. The inside has odd decor and choice of items to sell. On one side are warn couches that are not conducive for eating. Another wall feature a broken display case. And a larger wall features random convenience store items that were bought at Costco. I had a grilled cheese sandwich that wasn’t bad, but wasn’t great. It came with soup that was obviously store bought. The service was friendly but really slow. It took almost 20 minutes for three people to order ahead of me. Lots of other options in this shopping center. Please try something else instead.

Ok food, somewhat pricey for what I ordered, very crowded with young kids from the local school. Staff not too friendly. Came here from a recommendation, I didn't like my experience. From what is it, if you have to, give it a try

The food and ingredients were super fresh and delicious. I had a perfect salami & swiss on a fresh, chewy sourdough roll with all the fixings and it completely satisfied my "deli sandwich " craving. The shop atmosphere was a little vacant and chilly, hence not 5 stars.

A friend of mine took me here while visiting the area. The service is great and the food is fresh and delicious. Oddly, when I visited they didn't have any indoor tables, but there are many tables outside. I wanted to take a photo of the food for this review, but I ate it far too quickly. :) You should definitely give this place a try!!

One of the best restaurants in T&C. sandwiches are fresh and delicious. I've probably been here a few dozen times at least. It's often very busy and slow, but it's worth the wait. No real seating is available here. It's a deli.

I had an issue with my doordash delivery. I called Village Cheese House and spoke to the owner, Bernard. He was so helpful in resolving my issue and offered that I can order direct. Their food is delicious and I will definitely use the direct order in the future for catered lunches. Thank you for your outstanding customer service and reliably, delicious food.

The "old fashioned" is the greatest sandwich from anywhere! Over the last 40+ years, I've had sandwiches from great delis in SF, NYC, Boston, Seattle, DC, LA, and Chicago. Unless you just have to have lots of veggies, these are the best pure sandwich available. Noah and Lindsey have been true to the original recipe that I first tasted in the late sixties!
