Where To BYOB in LA - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Don’t trust anyone who turns down pizza and beer. This Larchmont favorite is one of the more reliable pizza-by-the-slice spots in the city, and its BYOB policy is just a little icing on the cake. While pretty much any pizza is good here, the power move is the clam and garlic pie. And your previously purchased booze of course." - brant cox

Fun little pizzeria not far from the Hotel Del Coronado on Orange Street. We ordered a build your own small half pepperoni / half sausage pizza to go. It was a decent pizza, but not my favorite. I would say it's better than your regular pizza chains. The crust was lovely - soft and chewy while the sausage had some kick (spicy), which was a nice touch. I ordered extra sausage and they were very generous. It was VERY light on the cheese and the red sauce wasn't the type I enjoy - almost sweet tasting. That being said, pizza flavors are often personal and other people's taste buds may enjoy it more.

Google
I was craving a margherita pizza and was going to get one at the hotel Del. However, Village Pizzaria was along the way so I thought I'd try them. It was good but not the best I've had (the best margherita pizza is at the Fountainebleau in Vegas). This version is salty and very garlicky. But it was saucy, which is how I like it. I got a small, which was generously sized.

Google
amazing tasting pizza, probably top 5 in san diego in my opinion. Whitestone is definitely top. You also have the og Pepperoni/Cheese that's always good. Amazing and friendly staff as well. Ryan is highly professional who has helped our group place orders, decide what to get, also with top recommendations numerous times after the beach!

Google
Happy hour is 3-6pm, or all day Tuesday. Pizza slices were $3.75 for a generous slice. $6 for craft pint. Great crust on the pizza. The slices were bigger than a Costco slice, and thin crust. Convenient location.

Google
I stopped here for lunch on a whim to get something quick, and wish I’d come hungrier! I really enjoyed the pizza — not gourmet but really good and fresh ingredients. I super appreciated the specials on offer, I think I got a huge slice and a beer for $7 during lunch. Would eat here everyday if I was staying on the island.

Google
Pizza was great. Most of the crust is a doughy warm inside, with a nice crisp on the outside. The outside patio is a lovely place to kick it for the better part of an afternoon. Their happy hour for pizza by the slice (3.50) is pretty respectable, 2-6 PM i think with beer specials as well. I'd go 5 stars, but they do happy hour all day (sick) but when I was there Tuesday around 620, they told me they were out of slices and didn't make any more after six. Felt pretty disingenuous that the extended special only actually lasts 20 minutes.

Google
Guys!!! F’ing good pizza at an awesome price! Arrived in Coronado late after a LONG day of travel (and a hangry hubby) a few days ago and this place was perfect! We got an 18” BBQ Chicken pizza and it was amazing! We’re kinda Midwestern BBQ Pizza snobs and this place nails it! Ordering again tonight!

Google
A good Spot to stop for a slice of pizza and a drink after being at the beach . Just a chill vibe while enjoying some delicious pizza with the Fam. That Napoli slice was so thin ,hot and Tasty 😋..
google avatar

Yelp
This is only very delicious pizza. I lived in Italy for a few months and the Napoli is pretty close! The girl that took our order was new. So, there were a few hiccups but overall the staff was joking with each other and having a good time. So that good energy goes into the food, for sure! I'm from Az and my daughter was recently stationed here. So, we will surely be back while she's here. I will say, they are a bit pricey. 1 large Napoli (1/2 pepperoni) , a small cheese pizza, and a a small sprit for $65.00. It did hurt to take out the card but it was worth it!

Yelp
This spot is in a great location, just a short walk from the Coronado Hotel and beach. They've got really good happy hour prices, which makes it a nice option for families. The indoor seating has that classic old brick pizza house feel, and the outdoor area on the side offers some shade which was nice. The cashier and waitress were both really nice and attentive, which we appreciated. We ordered the meatball sliders, garlic Parmesan wings, a slice of pepperoni, and a slice of Hawaiian. Everything was fine, nothing bad but nothing that really stood out either. It's not the kind of food I'd find myself craving later, but for the price, location, and overall vibe, it was worth the stop.

Yelp
Great food! Italian chopped salad and Sicilian pizza were both great. Three stars for service. Young people taking our order seemed disconnected and either did not listen or could not hear. Went yo the counter to ask for water (which we had asked for with our order and never received)...employees did not make eye contact with me, just kept walking by. Finally when I excused myself and asked for help and the employee said she would be right back. She was right back alright, and just walked on by totally forgetting me. I got another person's attention and was able to get water. Tables needed wiping down. Probably won't be back due to poor service. As a customer I felt like a total inconvenience to the employees. Just taking our order was a chore for them, they'd much rather be huddled together chatting away.

Yelp
After a long day at the beach, this hits!!! We got the Meathead. I don't like Canadian bacon aka ham but everything else was delish!! Blonde ale was yummy. Add the pepper flakes ... kicks it up.

Yelp
Two large pizzas and a small salad - $100! This place price gouges! Both pizzas had barely any cheese in them. Had they had a normal amount of cheese, they would have been average pizzas. But not worth the money. Salad was good. Order Dominoes for better pizza at 25% of the cost.
google avatar

Marty L.

Yelp
The restaurant serves its intended purpose: quickly produced food that is available for either self-seated dine-in or carryout. Self-dining will get you a paper plate or dish or bowl depending on what you order. Other than delivery to your table, there is no interaction with wait staff unless you seek them out to ask for something. The food is average in my opinion, but service is fast and prices are reasonable. We had our two young girls with us so the fast service mattered more than quality, price or service. Mom and dad, however, were totally underwhelmed. Onward and upward from here.

Christopher T.

Yelp
Ordered 2 large pizzas - both had hardly any cheese on them! And the bill was $95!! This place is price gouging and the pizza isn't worth it. Get Dominoes for $20.

Yelp
Amazing view! We went around 4 pm on Tuesday, 8/20/24, so not crowded. Large, the Works pizza was $40, which is expensive but it does feed 3 to 4 people. Refillable drinks are $4. Order at counter or online. No waitress service. Pizza was ready quickly. Pizza was very good. Came out piping hot. Ample parking, free for 2 hours. No restrooms I the restaurant but they are nearby.

Yelp
First time here for us. Let me tell ya it was fantastic. I believe they use a brick oven as well

Yelp
Stumbled into this pizza shop while walking around during sunset. We were lured in by the happy hour sign and i'm so glad we stopped in! We got a few pizza slices to share and it was such a good decision bc we got to try so many different combinations! We're not from the area but i would definitely stop by again if i'm in the area.

Yelp
We came to Coronado for the live music by the ferry landing and decided to stop by for happy hour pizza slices. We tried the vegetarian, the sausage and mushroom, and the Whitestone. We enjoyed them all but some slices were much larger than others, which was a little strange that they were such different sizes. We ordered at the right time because our service was fast and we got our pizza fairly quickly. As soon as we ordered the place got packed! It was nice to be able to get seating under the heat lamps since the sun was hiding behind the clouds and it got a little chilly. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
I ordered a pizza to go and ended up eating it at the restaurant. It's a nice and casual place to dine in. Once we received the pizza, I definitely noticed it had way too much green peppers and less meat on it but, nonetheless it was delicious. Service was okay considering they were extremely busy but there needs to be more of an effort to notify guest when their orders are ready. I'm pretty sure my pizza was waiting there a while based solely on how hot the pizza was and it was just warm. Maybe a PA system should be considered.

Yelp
Listen this was a place I had been dreaming about since the last time I went to San Diego. It's the best little pizza place on the beach! We walked there from Coronado beach at our hotel and it was just so good. Very fresh and hot, our pizza was gigantic and I wish the lady would have offered maybe a better deal to us with our little kids, but we had a ton of leftover so it was okay. She was so nice and helpful in other ways. Try their garlic knots for sure and if you're on the island and need a bite to eat check them out. They have salads, wings, pasta. They have outdoor and indoor seating, which is nice since the weather is so beautiful. Love it will recommend 1000000 Times again!!!!

Yelp
Visiting area and we decided to try this pizza place, it smelled good lol. We ordered at table thru scan on table. Pretty cool btw. We got our pizza and it was perfect for us. Good flavor and not too thick. A definite place to come back again.

Yelp
My son and I live nearby and love coming to Village Pizzeria on Orange Ave. The food is always good, the service is quick and the prices are fair. We like sitting outside and watching all the activity. My son usually gets a pizza slice or the Fettuccine Alfredo. I'm a big fan of the zucchini sticks. They are always crispy and perfectly cooked. Last time we tried the garlic knots and my son couldn't stop talking about them. It's a great place for a casual meal in Coronado, especially with kids.
google avatar

Yelp
Great pizza spot in Coronado island to go with a group of friends or solo. They have a QR code on the tables and it makes it easy to order from and pay. Service is pretty fast and the staff if very polite. The food was good and it fills you up quick with just one slice of pizza and an order of garlic crinkle fries which I HIGHLY recommend!
google avatar

Daisy G.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place during their happy hour with my family and it was definitely a great place to get a quick eat! Their happy hour pizza slices were all really delicious and we all ate a few bites each. Would come back!
google avatar

Sherri S.

Yelp
Not a good place to eat! The manager through a fit like a 5 year old over garlic knots. Pizza was missing ingredients, dinner salad never got delivered, asked for no cheese on salad, the salad came with cheese, asked for a pizza riser and they were hesitate to bring one. At the time we were there it wasn't that busy. I think they need better training from the powers to be!
google avatar

Aly Y.

Yelp
Pizza and knots were so yummy! We got 2 slices, 2 drinks and an order of knots for $20. Staff was really friendly, place was clean, food was good. We will for sure come back!
google avatar

Yelp
Great service and good food. They have an amazing all day happy hour on Tuesday for pizza slices, appetizers and beers!

Yelp
We arrived after 8:00 and didn't realize they closed at 8:30. By the time we were ready to order, we were told the kitchen was closed. Last we ate there (we live about 150 miles away) we ordered through a server that came to our table but now you go up to the counter to order. My husband is disabled and has difficulty going place to place. I asked to speak with the manager, Jamie and he was incredibly accommodating! While there were certain items we couldn't order as the fryer was already turned off, he made suggestions for our order. The food was delicious especially the meatball sub! Jamie came to talk to us during our meal and was so personable and gracious...he really made our dining experience wonderful! While most restaurants would rush customers out, Jamie told us to take our time. He is truly an amazing manager and the perfect person to represent your company.

Yelp
Pizza slices 3.50 for common toppings. Hot wings Buffalo and Garlic definitely spot on. Service was not very fast or friendly. But you can order at the table and pay for it without needing service. Recommend. Ambiance is a busy pizza joint by the beach.

Elizabeth F.

Yelp
I got a slice to see how it was--I didn't expect to be served old pizza which was reheated in a dirty toaster oven, and took 20 minutes to be ready. It smelled like the dirty toaster oven, and tasted like it. Old, reheated pizza, from a dirty toaster oven. Won't be back, ever.
google avatar

Tatum F.

Yelp
Great customer service during a very busy Saturday night! They went above and beyond when issues arose with our order.
google avatar

Bree Z.

Yelp
We are huge fans of their Bayside location which is hard to compete with due to its view BUT I think the crew here is just next-level when it comes to being into what they do -- this is the real OG crew and I think Jamie in particular helps that pizzeria vibe! We were lucky to go there on a Tuesday which has so many deals and discounts so we got a few slices of the Whitestone which I can now confirm is my favorite slice of pizza in all of San Diego -- try a slice or a whole pie, you won't regret it.
google avatar

Yelp
After strolling around Coronado we love stopping in at our favorite by the slice pizza shop in Coronado! Great friendly employees and an outside dining area tucked away off Orange. The pizzas and Stromboli's are massive! My 1 year old son can eat their meatballs all by himself, he loves them.

Yelp
My friend and I went to Hotel Del to see the Christmas decor, and singing trees. We decided to grab a bite here afterwards for dinner. It's a cute, quaint, casual pizzeria. There's limited seating inside, but a huge patio seating available. You order at the counter, and they will bring your food to you. They have a great variety of pizza pies,as well as appetizers and other food options, such as chicken wings and salads etc. My friend is a vegetarian, so we ordered the Mediterranean pizza pie. We also order the mozzarella sticks. We got a small pizza pie, and it was definitely more than enough for two people. I'm not a bougie pizza person, but I can definitely tell how good a pizza is based on the quality common freshness of their bread. And I was not disappointed! The bread tasted very fresh, light, and still crispy. It is honestly really good quality Pizza. Also, the service was very friendly and tentative to bring us plates, napkins, etc. I would definitely go back. If you're hanging around hotel del, or just exploring Coronado Island and want a quick bite, quality food, I would highly recommend this place!

Yelp
Do yourself a favor and just avoid this place and go anywhere else nearby. The food is passable if you like doughy pizza and overcooked wings. This place is clearly unstaffed. The tables are dirty and not cleaned up after customers leave. The staff looked stressed out and overworked. I ordered a pitcher of beer and they put ice in it! Who puts ice in beer?! When I asked for a pitcher of water, I was told they ran out of pitchers! The kicker - there were still empty tables. We asked them to turn on the heaters since it was chilly and drafty outside. I was told they ran out of propane for their heaters.

Yelp
Yelp profile and pictures looked so good so I decided to try it. We ordered salad, meatballs, pizza and beer. Beer was great. Everything else 6/10. You only pay for convenient location, I wouldn't go there again.
google avatar

Tyiesha T.

Yelp
Pizza was supposed to have garlic and did not. It also had so much sausage you could not taste the cheese. They really didn't us much cheese though. I don't need leftovers and spent $50 on 2 small pizzas with no cocktails.
google avatar

Anastacia H.

Yelp
A nice little spot in Coronado. Employees were great. I ordered a Sicilian sausage and pepper pizza, pizza knots, an Italian chopped salad. Everything was very good. I think in the future I will ask for extra cheese and garbanzo beans in the salad, just because I like them so much. Refillable soft drinks are available, you just have to go to them to refill which was not a problem at all.

Andrew B.

Yelp
I previously wrote a review on this place saying my port experience but I went back here to eat again and it was awesome. The food was great, the service was fast, and they had many different options for my family to try. I completely apologize for my review earlier as it did not replicate my experience and it has been removed. This place deserves 5 Stars! I would really recommend to others! 5 Stars

Yelp
This pizza was amazing! We had a large group so it was ordered to go and taken to the beach. The pizza we got was huge and people were coming up to us asking to take photos of the pizza because it was the biggest they had ever seen. The flavor was delicious and there was enough pizza for everyone.
google avatar

Yelp
CORONADO, CA / PIZZA / 03-18-23 / DINNER +Our Bluewater Grill waiter, Tony, recommended this place for dinner. +The pizza was magnificent. +The crust was super crispy and the sauce/toppings were delicious. +The crispy Brussels sprouts appetizer is a must-get.

Catalina B.

Yelp
AMAZING PIZZA! Must try the Billy Goat! The crust was my favorite and all the flavors made it unique. Ordered 2 small pizzas for 3 of us and it was perfect!
google avatar

Yelp
TL;DR: come back for HH for $3 slices and $5 beers Ordered: - Napoli (MVP): best of the bunch - tomatoes and basil tasted really fresh - Pepperoni: interesting that our slice had a mix of both flat and cup pepps - Sausage and Pepper: note that this is a grandma/Sicilian slice. Knew this fact before placing the order and we were still surprised how thick the crust was - Mushroom and Sausage: good but nothing special Beer selection had about 6 on draft - went with the Robot Panda Hazy from HopWorks Decent spot on Orange to grab a slice and brew while saving some $ especially for Coronado
google avatar

Brent N.

Yelp
Awesome spot to get pizza I'd say one of the best in Coronado. Quick fresh made on the order and has a great staff.

Yelp
Amazing garlic meatball sliders & marina sauce. Side salad was very fresh & croutons. Calzone - OMG!! So huge and amazing! Pizza Unfortunately I failed to take pictures, food was gone quickly Customer service- EXCELLENT! I know food service can be rough & younger generation just work for a paycheck, however all the waiters were exceptionally polite & accommodating. I appreciate good food & even more , good service . Owner please take note, these young ladies & bus boys truly represented your restaurant well! We will be back..

Yelp
Chill spot. Bring your appetite. We came in shortly after opening for weekday lunch. Hubs and I shared a small Meathead pizza and a side of mozzarella sticks. The mozzarella sticks (5 in our order) came out with a side of red sauce. The sauce is thin but flavorful. The sticks themselves were a good size, cheese had the right amount of ooze without being too stringy. We asked for a couple sides of ranch dressing (which we weren't charged for which was a surprise). Most restaurants have gross ranch dressing, but when kiddo #2 said I would like it, I gave it a try. It was tasty! Whether or not it was made in-house, I cannot say--but it tasted better than most. Good enough that we brought the leftover dressing home to eat with the pizza leftovers. The Meathead was good. It was a hand tossed style crust, but not as thick. A 12" was more than enough for hubs and I to share. It wasn't overwhelming with toppings, but the toppings were enough to fill us up. If you have small kids that don't eat a lot, the kids pizza/drink combo will be way too much food for them. Our 2 kids each got a kids meal, and their pizzas were closer to 12" jn diameter, with a slightly thicker crust. Each kid was full after one slice of their pizza. Counter service was friendly and attentive. I noticed that none of the tables had Parmesan cheese, so I'm not sure if they hadn't been put out yet, it was something you had to ask for, or if they didn't have any. It's not a make or break for me, but I would've loved some extra parm sprinkled on top of my pizza.

Yelp
Came for my mom's 78th birthday celebration and was HIGHLY disappointed appointed with the service and unprofessional actions of staff and management. I ordered knots I was told all the knots were gone but the other part of that family orders knots and got them no problem. I also asked about the toppings on the pizza the cashier told me the wrong toppings. The toppings were very scares for a 30 dollar 4 topping pizza. They did not add the toppings I asked for. When we asked for a pizza riser the lady was very hesitant to give us a pizza riser so we could create room on the table. They had just taken 3 from tables. When I address the manager he was very rude. I told him I would be writhing this review. If I could give negative stars I would. I told the manager about the knots he told me that they ran out before I ordered with is impossible due to the fact that the rest of the family continued to have Knotts even when ordered after me. I told him he was lying to me due to the fact that they ordered after me. Got mad grabbed the tub and told me that this is what they had left. At this point was mad. He said that he acted in the way because I told him he's lying. Though didn't believe that I orders before the others. I told him his actions are not professional and I would leave him a review here I am. Then he wanted to be nice. If you're looking for good service DO NOT come here. In the end he did comp my pizza never once apologized. Other than my order 3 other orders were not correct. POOR management = poor employees.

Yelp
We have eaten here twice now, both times that we have been at Coronado, and it's a great meal for those with kids. It is very casual, you go up to the counter and order, and can sit inside or outside. The food comes very fast. I love their meatball sub, and my kids like the spaghetti. We also get a few pizzas by the slice, pizza is decent. The food is not very fancy but it is perfect for those with young kids. Also the servers are young but they are so sweet and kind.

Yelp
The service was fast and the female worker kept coming back to check On us. The pizza was delicious !!! We also ordered the mozzarella sticks , meatball sliders and the zucchini sticks. The meat ball sliders were seasoned to perfection. And the breading in the zucchini sticks was perfect. Best fried zucchini I've had. We will definitely be back !!!

Yelp
Great Pizza! Service was friendly and the pizza came out hot and fresh. Small inside but big outdoor patio.

Yelp
The food and service were amazing this is a place to must stop if you just craving a slice of pizza I mean

Yelp
We went on a super busy night because of the Hotel Del Christmas lights. People were super friendly even though here was a two block line! Pizza was really good and so was the salads and bread sticks! Def recommend!

Yelp
Came here while in Coronado area. Was wandering thru the area looking for a comfort meal and voila VP OG popped up. Menu had variety with regards to slices and full pies ( red or white ). So we elected to stay and order. Ordered a Mediterranean Pizza and a side of Mozzarella sticks. Overall, food came out quick and pie was tasty and crust good. Overall, a good spot for pizza in the Coronado area.
google avatar

Yelp
Not sure about this place.. Our Napoli pizza arrived incredibly hot, yet super soggy in the center. The crust was a bit tough and rubbery. Toppings, however, were delicious but sadly slid off our soggy pizza dough. The cashier asked if we were dining in or to go. We said dining in but received our order in a to go box with no plates or napkins. It's very hot inside the restaurant but there is lots of outdoor seating. I recommend not going on a busy Saturday night and hopefully you'll get a pie that isn't so rushed!
google avatar

Maryanne Z.

Yelp
Great service, placed 3 orders via online feature, and they were ready for pick-up as soon as I arrived. Kid's pizza is a decent size, very filling. Garlic knots were a bit hard, we left before realizing that we did not receive our kid's drinks or condiment sauces, be sure to check your order before leaving to ensure accuracy. Staff was friendly. Easy to find, street parking is limited. Closes early between 830pm/9pm.

Yelp
Village Pizzeria OG is incredibly well located about a block from the Hotel Del and from the beach. They serve an East Coast style pizza. And, yes, to those familiar with the Island, they also own the pizza place at the Ferry Landing. This is basically a walk-up order place, and they will deliver to your table type of restaurant. It is simple and straight-forward - no checkered tablecloths. If you visit their website, you can see their rotational Pie of the Month, for the adventuresome. We sat on the side patio: great shade for the afternoon. I had NO idea what I was getting when I ordered THAT calzone! It was huge. Look at the crust, incredible browning - which added to the flavor. Inside was a fair amount of melted cheese and pepperoni and sausage. It was filling and flavorful. The chopped salad was just as the pic shows: basic and standard. We also had a slice of pizza. What you can't see in my pic is that I enjoyed the pizza much more than my hat! The pizza is a thin crust but it held up well to being folded in half to eat. The sausage was as crunchy to chew and flavorful as it looks. The mushrooms were fairly standard. Tables can be a bit scarce, but the shade was great and so were the people watching.
