The place was completely dead when I arrived, so I sat down to have a drink. The bartender was fairly nice at first but continued to talk to me and pressure me to order another drink, even though I was clearly on my phone trying to take care of some business calls. She kept going on about how she used to work all over Minneapolis, which wasn’t really relevant or welcome in the moment.
What bothered me more was that she delayed taking my cash, almost as if she was waiting for me to leave a 50% tip. She even mentioned how she’s always trying to “save customers money” and that when she does, it ends up in her own pocket. The whole experience felt like an uncomfortable attempt to guilt me into tipping more.
I always tip, and I’m a no-nonsense person—but being pressured and bothered while trying to relax is just annoying. No wonder this place is usually empty.
