"Seattle has plenty of breakfast and brunch spots—but not many true diners where your coffee cup is never empty and a server named Sassy quickly becomes your new favorite person at 7am. Village Square Cafe fills that diner void with its warm wood trim, cozy upholstered booths, and a chalkboard urging you to share a plate of specials like citrus-spiked cinnamon rolls (just do it). It’s hard to go wrong with almost anything: buttermilk waffles have the perfect crispy-to-fluffy ratio, and the scrambles are packed with every ingredient you can imagine. Just make sure to arrive around 7am on weekends, or you'll be stuck with a long wait." - kayla sager riley, aimee rizzo

Google
Decent Spot, But Overpriced and Disappointing Omelette Village Square Cafe has a cozy atmosphere and friendly staff, but my experience didn’t quite live up to expectations. The coffee was shockingly expensive for what it was—nothing special, just an average brew at a premium price. The biggest disappointment, though, was the omelette, which was overcooked, dry, and lacked flavor. For the price, I expected something much better. That said, the service was good, and the cafe has a nice, welcoming vibe. Maybe other menu items are better, but based on my experience, I wouldn’t go out of my way to return. If they improved the food quality and adjusted prices, it could be a great spot.

Multiple veg and vegan options. We had California Benedict, Grilled Veggie Hash and Fresh Berry Waffle. 5/5 for Waffles. Removing one star for portion against the cost. Service was good and friendly.

Google
We had breakfast at Village Square Cafe in Redmond and tried the California Benedict and avocado toast. The Benedict was okay—nothing special, just average. The avocado toast, on the other hand, was really good, with fresh avocado on crispy toast. The cafe has a cozy feel, and the service was friendly. If you’re looking for a tasty and simple breakfast, the avocado toast is a good choice.

I had the cornbread hash with an egg, and it was delicious. My daughter ordered the French toast, and she loved it. The wife ordered the eggs Benedict, and she also loved her meal. I would say the place is an excellent breakfast place. We thoroughly enjoyed this place.

Google
Wait time was 1 hour, but worth it. The food was awesome. We had veggie hash, fruity waffle, hash browns, m&m hot chocolate, English tea, orange juice, chicken strips with french fries.

Saher Arif

Google
Great place over all, the food was a bit of a disappointment though. It’s nice for a family breakfast atmosphere wise, but if you’re looking for great food, then it might not be it.

Google
What a lovely place! The service was outstanding, everyone was friendly and attentive. The food is very delicious. I especially recommend the egg Benedict. It’s a pleasant surprise when I find the gravy has a light lemony taste, better than the typical rich heavy gravy. We will come back.

Google
Good experience, good food, and a good atmospere. We tried the breakfast quesadilla, lemon blueberry pancakes, and California Omelet. All the dishes were very good, but just a little over priced for what we got. However, still a good stop for brunch.

Lonnie K.

Yelp
Wow!!!!! Friendly staff, cool decor, and amazing food. I had the Corner Beef Hash. I can say, without hesitation, the best Corned Beef Hash I have ever had. It canned with a side order of biscuits and gravy that was equally perfect. Thank you for a great dining experience.

Yelp
When you're in Redmond for three days and you have breakfast at the same place There must be something going right. We had excellent service great selection on the menu for both lunch and breakfast. The menu has items for vegetarian. I did not see anything vegan on the menu if you would like fruit instead of hashbrowns just ask the right toast is excellent homemade pumpkin pancakes. They listed fresh pies on the menu. I did not try them because breakfast was so large on day one I ordered a full order on day two and three we ordered half orders for breakfast. The restaurant also has cinnamon rolls for large rolls with frosting on top freshly made. they look great. My coffee cup was always filled. They do have tea and hot chocolate on the menu. You can sit at the counter if you'd like, you may want to make a reservation on weekends because it can't be a 20 to 30 minute wait. There's no actual place to wait inside the restaurant and it's cold outside. You'd like to minimize your wait. Reservations are online you may be able to call in advance. Parking is easy centrally located. They have multiple locations but all with a different name same menu though.

Yelp
Came to Village Square for the first time ever. Boy was it crowded. So expect to wait at least an hour when you arrive. I was able to sit with my niece and we had breakfast at the counter which actually saved us wait time. The food was good hometown breakfast cooking. Thick bacon, great fluffy pancakes. They didn't really have any like diet syrup or sugar-free jam, which is often a challenge for me since I am all allergic to sugar. But overall, we had a good time eating there and people watching. Service was average, I wouldn't say anything special or over attentive. I think we got forgotten, even though we were sitting at the counter. But think of more diner feel so if you're looking for great service, don't come here. But if you're looking for good breakfast this is a spot Check out.

Yelp
Went here for lunch on a Monday holiday and it was really busy. My friend knew it was a popular spot so he put us on the online waitlist so we were seated in about 5 minutes after we got there, he had put us on the waitlist 30 minutes prior. It was a fun diner and the service was very nice and very fast, the food portions were really large and everything was pretty good. I enjoyed it!

Tripti B.

Yelp
We had been here a couple of months back on a weekend and it was jam packed with a long wait, so we returned for lunch on a weekday. It was pretty full for a weekday, and it is no surprise because the ambiance, food and service are all stellar! We ordered the California Benedict's and they are by far the best I have tried! Our server was courteous and prompt. The restaurant is clean and has a pleasing vibe with a few bicycles mounted on the wall and a lovely wall painting of Redmond. All in all a great experience for which we will no doubt be returning! Two thumbs up!

Eric H.

Yelp
Food is good as ever. Unfortunately the main dining room is as loud as ever. Acoustic treatments are badly needed. What's that? Couldn't hear me? I said ACOUSTIC TREATMENTS NEEDED!!!!

Kevin W.

Yelp
This is hands down my favorite spot in the city of Seattle. It feels like a nice quiet diner. The wait staff was doing their best to handle the rush and I think they did an amazing job. I ordered the monte cristo with a side of fries and it was everything that I could ask for. The food was filling and I loved the strawberry jam sauce. I wish I lived near this place so I could come back all the time.

Adam G.

Yelp
This is my wife and I's favorite breakfast/diner spot. Every time we go it's like a step into the past where you had a neighborhood diner in walking distance and it's so cozy and relaxing being there. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. I've had most of waffles and pancakes etc. but my favorite is the blueberry lemon pancakes--so good. Unlimited refreshes of coffee, and everything tastes great.

Nikita S.

Yelp
I've tried nearly all the sister restaurants (Issaquah, Woodinville, Saw Mill, and this one), and I had my worst experience here. First off, the waitlist time was inconsistent. It said 65 minutes, but we ended up waiting over 1.5 hour. When we finally met the host, she told us we'd get seated in 2 minutes, but it took another 15. It felt pointless to join the waitlist when people who arrived after us were seated before us. The server kept saying "2 minutes" to everyone waiting, which created unrealistic expectations. We ordered an omelette, pancakes, and hash browns. We prefer to order one full dish and split it, rather than paying extra for a half portion. However, the server kept pushing us to get the split option for "better value." The pancakes were the highlight, and the food was good overall. Unfortunately, the poor service really detracted from our experience. I won't be returning to this location. After trying them all, my favorite remains the Issaquah Cafe, where the service and food were much better.

Judy M.

Yelp
Today was my first experience eating at the Village Square Cafe. It will also be my last. The wait staff were great - friendly and helpful. And the restaurant is charming. Unfortunately, the food, which was the reason my friend and I went there, was horrible. My french toast was bland & boring. I can handle that. However, my friend had a caesar salad and a grilled chicken wrap. She felt queasy on the way home and experienced severe gastrointestinal distress. She's an experienced cook and observed that the dressing on the salad and the ranch dressing on the wrap were inferior and probably left unrefrigerated. Beware if you dine there.

Julienne P.

Yelp
This is one of their handful of locations on the Eastside. All of the locations are consistent in their great customer service, and amazing food, which is delivered quickly. They offer breakfast and lunch, and there is something that everyone will enjoy. Everything I have had there is very good and there are many options for people that are gluten-free and dairy-free like myself. My favorite and the favorite of many of my friends is the scramble. You get a list of items to pick from in which will be scrambled in with eggs and hashbrowns. You can keep it at that or you can complete the meal with toast or pancakes. They do have gluten-free buckwheat pancakes!! But sadly they do not have gluten-free toast. Warning - this scramble is addicting!! Food is great! Service is great! So exoect a wait! (I rhymed!).

Aparajita S.

Yelp
After checking the Yelp reviews, I decided to stop by here for brunch! We arrived around 10 and were seated quickly. While there was plenty of seating, I can see how this place gets crowded. I also liked how this place resembled a diner! For my meal, I decided to go with the make your own omelette and chose spinach, onions, chicken sausage and pepper jack cheese. It also came with it a side of toast (5 choices) and hash browns. Everything was very delicious and our food came out super quickly! I also didn't realize this place was a chain, and they have quite a few more in the area.

Raul S.

Yelp
Amazing chicken sandwich and sidewise fries! First time visit and it was packed but worth it

Chris C.

Yelp
Stopped by here for a hearty breakfast before making the long trek back to Portland during rush hour. The young woman who greeted me asked me "can I help you?", which confused me at first, but I replied "I was hoping to eat?". We laughed and she seated me right away. Nice cozy booth by the front. She got me coffee and water immediately, and I settled into the menu. Lots of delicious options from breakfast to lunch fare... I knew I needed something with GRAVY. Chicken fried steak it is! Eventually I ordered and the food came out pretty quick. Holy crap... it was a huge spread! I proceeded to get down... everything was perfect! I ate almost all of it, knowing full well I'd be in a food coma for the drive home. Worth it! This place is really cool, with nice people, and tasty food. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in town!

Dee M.

Yelp
We went in for brunch last weekend, and realized there was over an hour of wait but it was worth it. We got a California Scramble with pancakes & hash browns and a veggie omelette with toast. Their strawberry & marionberry jams were delicious. Food was tasty and the service was quick. The ambiance reminded me of the diners we've been to during our road trips on the East Coast.

Thomas S.

Yelp
Multiple veg and vegan options. We had California Benedict, Grilled Veggie Hash and Fresh Berry Waffle. 5/5 for Waffles. Removing one star for portion against the cost. Service was good and friendly.

Arya N.

Yelp
Breakfast is served all day. I ordered the triple fruit waffle with two eggs. I appreciated the generous portions of fruit on the waffle, but otherwise the food itself was okay. Service was quick and friendly.

Allie Y.

Yelp
Cozy diner with a great variety of breakfast options! The Hobo Scramble came with pancakes for a delicious, comforting meal. Wasn't impressed with the Banana Pecan Waffles though, which seemed small in portion size and had little actual topping. Loved the bike-themed decor - it's a cute tie-in to Redmond ("Bicycle Capital of the Northwest") and makes the spot feel truly local. Friendly service too. Would totally call this place the town's favorite diner!

Steph F.

Yelp
Tried Village Square Cafe for breakfast this morning. Food was great: we had the banana pecan waffle, triple fruit french toast, and a side of bacon. Bacon was really quite good. Service was friendly and efficient. We were able to snag some seats at the counter to avoid the hour long wait. Nice to have a solid, affordable, option for breakfast!

Loudy O.

Yelp
This place during the weekends is always packed. Had to wait for an hour and half to get the table. But because it was the planned for 5 people I couldn't back out with the plan. Too bad they can't take reservations a day before. But if you're there you have to wait at least an hour. So, when we got the table for 5, we were in the middle of the aisle to go to the bathroom and it was crammed like a sardines and we can't hardly heard each other because it was too closed to the other tables. The food was okay, it would be nice if they can do something about it to make it bigger and be feeling like comfortable and not in a hurry to finish the food and leave.

Ms. A.

Yelp
Saturday brunch we were lucky to be seated under 30min because there were people waiting outside as well. I love the atmosphere of this restaurant and one of my favorite restaurant for brunch. Omelet is always fluffy and service is quick and friendly.

Fiona Z.

Yelp
Food is great, and service is wonderful. Will be back soon. The avocado toast is delicious.

Naomi Z.

Yelp
I've traveled many places and I still am obsessed with their California eggs Benedict. Their sauce is amazing. I love the cozy feeling of an old vintage looking cafe. The wait is long on weekends. I prefer their breakfast over brunch options. Their soups are good and my kids love their bacon and pancakes! We're regulars.

Glenice A.

Yelp
Me and my husband usually come here on Sundays and has been our new little tradition. I love the food the interior and nice staff

Joe S.

Yelp
Food was delicious. My second time eating at Village Square Cafe. Omelets are great and so is the corn beef hash. Yum Yum Yum.. Staff is very friendly can't go wrong breakfast or lunch.

Kavana A.

Yelp
I went here on a Sunday for brunch. It gets crowded so I recommend adding yourself on the waitlist at-least an hour before. The place has old diner style charm. Staff here are kind and courteous. We ordered a bunch of things and it was a typical brunch dishes. I was expecting a yummy French toast but that was mediocre with the bread being hard and chewy. However, the lemon blueberry pancakes were great and I recommend that to everyone.

Aditya P.

Yelp
One liner: delicious diner food with relaxed service and not pricey: $30 for two people. This is my favorite diner in the local area. It is a delightful way to start a weekend or a Sunday with comfort food, cozy ambience and a friendly staff. While everything on their menu is great, I specifically love their almond crunch french toast and the scrambles they have to offer. Their huevos rancheros is also a personal favorite. The potions are also quite big so I'd suggest getting the half potions if you're not particularly hungry. The service is a bit slow, or may be the right word is 'relaxed' so don't go if you're in a hurry. There is seating at the bar or inside booths and sometimes outdoor seating as well when the weather is good. Parking is never a problem since it's in redmond. :) PS: their coffee (brewed) is great too especially with hazelnut creamer!

Matt J.

Yelp
Friendly people and tasty food. A delightful Friday morning breakfast with my daughter!

Alison L.

Yelp
Was not that impressed. Called to place take out order and after 4 min on hold i gave up and called back later. I ordered a omelet. Was $22!! They charge a "packaging surcharge" of $1.52 for take out. My omelet was horrible. The eggs were runny inside. I hate uncooked eggs. Seemed like it had more cheese than the actual ingredients i ordered. Really wanted to like this place but was super dissapointed.

Wendi K.

Yelp
Old school diner type spot with an expansive menu. Went around 11 AM on a Friday and got a table right away. I tried the corned beef hash half order with a biscuit and gravy ($17 after tax and tip - maybe they charged me for the full on accident?). The biscuit was large and fluffy and the gravy was hearty and savoury. It definitely was a stick-to-my-ribs type of meal. The corned beef was chunked and the hash was pretty oily. Portions are great and the staff is also attentive/kind.

Palak G.

Yelp
Celebrated Mother's Day at brunch! If you haven't tried this cafe (or any sister locations), you're missing out! They have so many vegetarian options! We got the Banana pecan waffle, Grilled veggie hash without eggs, with a side of toast & fruits and Berries waffle. They have a separate kids menu and we got the 1/2 grilled sandwich with a side of french fries. The fries were so crunchy and fresh! The waffles are thin and crisp, with large portions & loaded toppings. We tend to keep coming to this cafe so often! We've been to the Mukilteo Cafe, Sammamish Cafe and this one! All knock you off the park! Must visit for a nice family meal feeling. The service is super fast, ambience like 90's speed cafe with relaxed seating.

Bakul W.

Yelp
If you're looking for some good places for a nice breakfast - you should definitely checkout Village Square Cafe in Redmond! I live nearby however, still need to join the waitlist because it gets crowded too quickly specially on weekends! So if you're planning to visit, please join the waitlist atleast an hour before! Their menu offers too many things and everything is so good! Anything with eggs is my favourite here! And just so you know - their serving quantity is huge! Be ready!

Ting A.

Yelp
Returned for nostalgia as I had often frequented this breakfast spot in the past. This place serves solid breakfast and brunch dishes of huge portions. ----- Migas: eggs scrambled with seasoned taco beef, Tillamook cheddar, red and green peppers, onions, and crispy tortilla strips. Topped with our authentic ranchero sauce, avocado, sour cream, and green onions. Served with either pancakes or hash browns and toast ($18.50 Whole | $15.25 Half). One of my favorite entrées to get whenever I dine here. I picked a whole serving with hashbrowns and whole wheat toast. The crispy tortilla strips and ranchero sauce pairs well with the egg mix. Hashbrowns had a crispy exterior and the toast was buttery but not overwhelmingly so. ----- Came close to 10:30 AM on a Friday and was surprised to find all the tables - both inside and outside - were full except for bar counter seats. Weekends always have a long wait and had thought it would be less crowded on a late weekday morning. After waiting for a few minutes, we opted to sit at the bar.

Andrew W.

Yelp
We have been going to the cafe for years but hadn't been in since before having a second kid. We went for Mother's Day and were nervous of getting a table so we came in early. It turns out that everyone slept in and we had no wait. We got a nice table with plenty of space and enjoyed a good breakfast there. Prices are laugh out loud levels of astronomical. I guess Microsoft easily affords a $21 dollar crepe. I can't knock VSCafe for scaling prices up like everyone but it's still a pretty crazy value proposition for me to pay that kind of money for a couple eggs and a crepe. We'll be back in 2024 for a $30 coffee. Cheers

Dennis I.

Yelp
Smaller than the Crystal Creek Cafe. Food was good but the size contributed to too much noise. Crystal Creek is still our favorite.

Scott T.

Yelp
Found this place on Yelp and it was very clean and extremely great service and excellent breakfast! Will be back next time in Redmond.

Rigo S.

Yelp
We're in Washington and one of our collogues took us to this place for breakfast and I like the food and the hometown customer service they were very welcoming things you don't find in the big city's anymore

Jeff B.

Yelp
Noon lunch for 2 on a weekday. AMBIANCE: 3.5. Comfortable. Counter seating available, but we waited for a table to become available. Crowded, so we had about a ten minute wait. SERVICE: 3.5. No complaints. FOOD: 4.0. Had a Reuben Sandwich with a side Caesar Salad. Salad ingredients were fresh and the portion was generous. Sandwich was nicely done with good volume. Though I finished a Whole sandwich, a Half order would have been sufficient.

Brandon B.

Yelp
Wonderful food, big menu. Friendly and approachable service. Charming small-town vibes.

Carol G.

Yelp
Great food wonderful service a bit loud but tolerable! Loved my peppermint tea leaves tea!

Cherisa M.

Yelp
Friendly staff, typical diner feel. Food was good. The only thing is the place is super small and gets busy very fast. So if you're going, be patient.

Derrick G.

Yelp
This is a very good breakfast and lunch eatery. We visited in the morning, so we decided to order breakfast. We ordered the corn beef hash and one of the scrambles, both were excellent. For sides we ordered biscuits and gravy and pancakes, both sides were very good. The biscuits were extremely fluffy and noteworthy. Our server was very friendly and efficient during our visit. I highly recommend this restaurant for breakfast, the next visit I may try the lunch menu items.

Jonathan C.

Yelp
Service was fast and friendly, and parking is plentiful. However, the food was just average. The country fried steak and biscuits and gravy are as good as any Southern diner, but the hash browns tasted like cheap oil. I've never had hash browns where I could taste the oil. Their cooking oils are not hydrogenated. I did not break out after my meal.

Emma V.

Yelp
Tried their sister restaurant in Issaquah first, which is also FANTASTIC. But, this is by far our favorite place for breakfast in Redmond. Their breakfast tacos are good and all, but the breakfast burrito is unreal. Since trying it the first time, it's my go to. My husband loves getting the hobo omelet, and we get sweet potato fries for our toddler, because that's his thing, even at 8am. My only critique is that their syrup is thin, but the good thing about VSC is that they typically allow pickup orders, which means I can use my favorite syrup at home. :)

Taylor B.

Yelp
Good breakfast place, very nice and helpful staff It was reasonable price Their breakfast is big definitely enough for 2

Anisaa M.

Yelp
I'm not gonna lie, this place had the worst French toast I've ever had. I got the strawberry rhubarb French toast. The rhubarb sauce was great but the French toast itself was not good. There wasn't enough cinnamon in the mix. It just tasted like bread and yolk. The eggs were good, the chicken sausage was good but man.. I don't know if I'd return back to this place. $20 on a French toast meal that I didn't even have more than 5 bites of because of how underwhelming it was. Very bland. The rhubarb couldn't make up for the lack of taste in the French toast.

Nithya R.

Yelp
Excellent food and even better service! The only downside is the long wait time during weekends. I'd suggest joining the waitlist at least an hour ahead. We'll definitely return as this is a cozy brunch spot, perfect to catch-up and spend time with family!

Richard P.

Yelp
Certainly a big fan of Village Cafe's in general, quite a pleasant place to grab a high quality legitimate usually breakfast, lunch etc. Staff is always very friendly and helpful. Pleasant fun Americana nostalgia decorations and art all around. Mostly just an all around great place with a comfortable and pleasant atmosphere would most certainly recommend.

Thy C.

Yelp
Great place if you are craving a traditional American breakfast. The ham was a bit salty in the eggs Benedict this round but not too bad. They handled our request for crispy hash browns spot on!
