A New Portland Cocktail Bar Donates 100 Percent of Its Profits to Youth-Centered Charities | Eater Portland
"I learned that the Oregon-based distillery Dregs Vodka, owned by Mike and Courtney Nierengarten, was founded from a desire to give back rather than a beverage-industry background: after researching that just over 74 million cases of vodka were sold in the United States in 2019, they decided to specialize in vodka and partnered with Swallowtail Spirits in Springfield, Oregon to produce the vodka under the Dregs label rather than distilling themselves. I report that the Nierengartens distribute Dregs to liquor stores, restaurants, and other businesses (including Tini’s), and that the after-tax profits from Dregs and Tini’s sales go to 14 different nonprofits and organizations; Dregs first donated to Portland YouthBuilders (where Mike served on the board), which provides free vocational training for underserved young adults, and has since expanded to include Oregon nonprofits like Project 48 (which gives kids in foster care backpacks of new clothes and toiletries) and the Shadow Project (which works with schools to build equitable programs for students with learning disabilities), with the couple specifically choosing nonprofits that benefit low-income youth in communities where people can find Dregs." - Eater
I love this place. The workers are great and make you feel welcome. Best liquor store in town. Wouldn't go anywhere else.

Accidentally worked for the North Korean government and used to do liquor runs for my handler here when I was a kid but owner is very old patriot embodies Appalachian vibes. Never sold us Moonshine but has the Louis XIV on the shelf always. Met good people from Wisconsin in the store.

The absolute friendliest and accommodating staff. Willing to help in anyway and everyone takes the time to know their customers. Great selection and if they don’t have what you’re looking for, they’ll happily order it for you. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Village Square Liquor Store is a keeper! Their staff is friendly and always helpful. The owner is a hoot to talk with when he is in the store. He really tries to keep the staff up to date and knowledgeable of the products they carry. My favorite liquor store in the area...

Yelp
Owner is always in store and extremely helpful. They know where all their products are and they rarely move products so they're easy to find. Sorted for convenience and they sell mixers, garnishes, minis, ect

Yelp
Like an old general store throwback, the place is large enough to have a terrific selection but comfy in feel. The staff are helpful, the owner is often there sharing his wisdom and wit, and I'm in and out of there is about 5 minutes!

Yelp
This is a good little store. For it's small size they have a pretty decent selection of alcohol and chasers.

Yelp
Nice selection for a smaller liquor store. But the best thing about this place is the welcoming, friendly staff. They're always willing to answer questions and offer suggestions, and they never make you feel stupid or out of place.
