As I entered, I was greeted by the inviting aroma of freshly baked goods. The kitchen is open and faces the shop area at the back. Improving ventilation could enhance the overall experience as the smell lingers inside. The lighting is soft, creating a warm atmosphere. The central counter features the cashier and various baked items on display. The coffee was decent, and while the chocolate orange scone was acceptable, it wasn't the best I've ever had. The breakfast bread with zucchini was moist, while the red velvet cookie was impressive. There are several seating areas with tables and chairs available.

Our custom cookies looked amazing and somehow tasted even better!! The team worked with our very intricate design to create mini edible masterpieces for our engagement party. Decorated cookies often don’t taste great, but Village Sweet baked such yummy ones. Our guests couldn’t stop talking about them!! Thank you so much to the amazing team! Can’t wait to reorder for another event!

I’m always on a quest for the perfect cinnamon bun. I’ve found it. This bakery has a great selection of beautiful pastries and treats. They also have the most beautiful decorated, themed sugar cookies. I can’t wait to have a need/event to order them for! I love that the seating is varied. I enjoy cozy, dimly lit warmth, but you can sit by the window if you prefer that! I’m so happy to have found this place. Lastly, the offering are not only lovely, but HUGE! Beyond worth the money. 🧁

Decadent treats at Village Sweet is the best way to start your morning! This bakery in Westover shopping center has the best pastries and breads in Arlington ❤. They baking their hearts out before dawn every day. I love have coffee with a slice of their breakfast bread. They also make custom cookies that are little works of art.

Google
I ordered custom cookies for party I hosted and Dawn the owner was so friendly and easy to work with in getting these done within a week turn around. Very impressed! I will definitely be coming here for some other yummy treats :)

Google
Village Sweets has the best baked goods in Arlington, with a rotating menu to keep things interesting. I love going here before a morning business meeting and picking up a box full of goodies for my colleagues (and boss!). I have also had their decorated cookies at several parties, and they are beautiful as well as tasty!

Fabulous and friendly bakery! From custom orders like this brown sugar cake with vanilla caramel buttercream to their daily goodies, you just can’t go wrong. It’s fresh and delicious!

My wife picked up a key lime pie yesterday, and I’m having a second slice of it this afternoon. I can easily say that it’s the best pie I’ve had in my life. The world is a much better place with Village Sweet in it. Thank you.

Yelp
Let me start off by saying I ADORE this place. This is my fav bakery to exist and i've been coming for years now. Anyone who's an arlington native knows about this hidden gem. However, I was super shocked and disappointed to find TWO strands of white hair in my orange chocolate chip scones I bought the other day. While eating the first one, I saw and thought maybe it was just a one time thing. Unfortunately, the second one I ate with my sister also had a hair baked into the scone. It was disappointing since I had to throw out 2/4 scones I bought. Will definitely keep supporting this spot but hope changes will be made.

Yelp
Village sweet offers a daily menu of scones, breads, muffins, frittatas, quiches, and other baked items. I stopped by while in the area, and ordered: +a Blueberry lemon scone +a Rosemary Parm + cheddar scone +a S'mores cookie The scones were okay, but not as stellar as others have made them out to be; they were definitely generous in size, but were pretty dry, both in and out. The cookie was super chunky, but it was very thick and very 'bread-y'. I was disappointed that they ran out of the orange cinnamon rolls, so it seems as if one has to order in advance or get there early, as this seems pretty popular. Service was sweet and friendly, and there's a handful of seating inside. The place is a bit dark, though, and not much natural light is being let in. Parking is available in this small strip plaza lot. +friendly service +parking available in small strip plaza lot

Yelp
Had passed by this bakery a week or two ago when it was closed, and I'm so glad I came back! Part of me wants them to up their coffee offerings (lattes, etc.), but the iced coffee I got was great, and the slice of iced lemon cake I got was fantastic. So glad to know about this spot, and will definitely be back to try some of their other cakes.

Yelp
We could not be happier with how these cookies turned out for our sons first birthday! They took my vision and brought it to life. Everyone at the party was commenting on how cute these cookies were and how good they tasted too. We were so pleased with the service and with the easy simple process! We would recommend Village Sweet over and over again. Thank you!!

Yelp
I finally have come around to make my review. First, I'd like to say the company was very sweet through email. A little non responsive at times, but I understand they're only open for a short amount of time each day. I ordered 25 cupcakes and 25 decorated sugar cookies for a baby shower. I sent in pictures for inspo which I'll upload here as well. In total, I paid $220. I'm not going to lie, right off the bat, this was pricey. I waited until after the baby shower to write the review to make sure I tasted the goods too. To start off, the cookies looked like they really paid attention to detail and were very nicely executed. The taste, is what you'd expect from a decorated sugar cookie. It was a little chalky, nothing special but the size and decorations were great. No complaints on the cookies. As for the cupcakes, I ordered half of the 25 to be vanilla and the other half to be brown sugar. These cupcakes were HUGE! I was not expecting them to be so big. Not a bad thing, but two people could definitely eat off of one cupcake. Unfortunately, I found the vanilla to not really taste like anything but the icing helped it. Many people liked the brown sugar. My issue was with the cupcake icing. It looked extremely lazy to me. They're supposed to be pumpkins but the stem is not even recognizable and they used such a dull brown color for it. Some of the stems were even falling off the cupcake onto the cupcake liner. The inspo pic had some green leaves on it and I found it almost as if the bakery was too lazy to mix some green icing? Or they did the cupcake order last minute? Or weren't confident in the execution? Not sure, but I was totally disappointed in the cupcake decorations mainly because it was so expensive and it looked like icing I could've done. I thought I was overreacting but many people agreed with me. Regardless of this, they did make the order on time. My friend asked me why I didn't say anything at the bakery when I picked them up but I picked them up at 9 am and the baby shower was at 1pm. So I didn't have time to request them to re-do the icing on 25 cupcakes. Plus, there were alot of people in line and I didn't want to be that customer. Regardless, I'd probably pay again for the cookies although it was about $6/cookie and probably would skip on the cupcakes.

Yelp
Amazing baked goods! The best orange cinnamon rolls in Northern VA. Their staff is very friendly & helpful.

Ankur K.

Yelp
I absolutely hate scones...with that said, their berry scone is effing amazing! Hard exterior (but not burnt) and soft, fluffy, interior. They don't skimp on the berries either. Some sort of glaze and a sprinkled sugar finish to add that necessary crunch. Also got their brown sugar iced coffee- a tad sweet for me but still really great! Folks that work here are also very nice! Definitely coming back

Yelp
The cookies are absolutely beautiful. They can create whatever you imagine, but they are pricier to come back. If you are looking for an appearance to impress a client or friend, these would be a fantastic option.

Yelp
I have been to the Village sweet over a dozen times and they never disappoint. What makes this place so special are the women who make these delicious treats. Most often Bakery items are sweet or have a single strong flavor. At the Village sweet they have mastered the art of baking. Their scones are crispy, slightly sweet, chocolaty, hints of orange and have an amazing mouthfeel. The coffee is very good. The atmosphere is warm, they could use a few more chairs and tables. But the ones that are there are comfortable.

M P.

Yelp
Ordered custom baby yoda cookies for my daughter's birthday party and it did not disappoint. So happy with how they turned out.

Yelp
Village sweet has far exceeded my expectations every time I use them! These are incredible and unique and made us laugh out loud! Just perfect! Highly recommend!

Yelp
A hidden gem in. Village Sweet sits in the middle of a tiny strip mall just across the street from Westover Market and a bunch of other shops. I happened in after dropping my girlfriend off at the metro and that's when I discovered Dark Chocolate Orange scones. They make other things too and everything I've tried is delicious. That includes a number of gluten-free baked items. However, anyone can find delicious baked goods if they look hard enough. What I am talking about with their Dark Chocolate Orange scones is something that transcends deliciousness. The staff has always been pleasant and helpful. The space provides ample seating though they have chairs with metal legs and a concrete floor. That can produce a scraping sound which, to me, is the same as fingernails on a chalkboard to others except fewer and fewer people know what that is these days. Anyway, this is a place I stop at whenever I'm nearby and occasionally make excuses to get to when I'm not. You should stop by too and when you're there, try the Dark Chocolate Ora....

Yelp
I still really like Village Sweet's baked goods. I'm docking one star, however, for "ambiance" generally. These guys ***desperately*** need better ventilation. It's downright unpleasant in the shop some early mornings. Specific example: I walked out smelling like smokey pastries in just the 3-4 minutes I spent there Saturday to pick up cinnamon rolls and quick breads. (They must have burned something that morning, and the smell was dissipating.) The smell was bothering me and I literally had to go home, shower, and change clothing for the second time that morning. This seems like a silly criticism, but I've literally switched bakeries some mornings because I didn't want to run the risk.
google avatar

Erin F.

Yelp
I love this place, BUT do not order the gluten free scone if you actually need to eat gluten free. They don't keep them separate from the other items at all, use the same tongs, package things together, etc. Their gluten free items are not even close to safe for someone who has celiac disease or a serious gluten sensitivity. I've tried talking with them about food safety on this issue - to no avail. Given that I have celiac disease, we won't be going back.

Yelp
Ordered custom cookies for a birthday party. Absolutely beautiful and tasted delicious. We will be repeat customers for sure!

Yelp
Wow, what a great addition to the Arlington Westover community! Village Sweet features baked goods and coffee, but also has savory options such as quiche. I tried the Coconut Pound Cake and the Jammy Raspberry Oat Grain Bar. Both of them blew me away. One of the kids in our group exclaimed that it was the best pound cake he ever had! My wife had the granola parfait and loved every last bit of it. But before you even get to the food, the decor and atmosphere will lure you in and make you want to linger awhile. The warm decor reminds you of a friendly shop in New York City and is very tastefully done with lots of unique touches. The counters and bars feature beautiful reclaimed wood. If you look up, you'll find a wonderful pressed tin ceiling with very cool exposed lighting. Oh, and if you care about the environment, you'll like to know they offer a wide variety of organic and natural drinks as well as compostable cups. I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
It's my husband's 40th birthday and we were suppose to be on a West Coast trip. Due to Covid-19, we aren't and we instead decided to support small businesses such as Village Sweet in Westover. We always recommend this place and they've hit it out of the park in recent weeks with the pandemic. We did call ahead/pick-up. Ordering is easy, the scones, pies, cookies and drinks are fantastic, as is the customer service. Thank you for helping add some sunshine as we shelter in place.

Lorie B.

Yelp
I've been living three blocks away from Village Sweet for four years and never went inside until last weekend and I was sorry I hadn't found this jewel sooner. I ordered a chocolate chip scone and lavender honey bread and they were moist and delicious! I am definitely coming back. The only reason for the four stars it I would like a bigger selection of baked goods.

Audrey G.

Yelp
I had the best quiche here one morning. I can't recall the flavors but the quiche itself was light yet flavorful with a good crust. Their other baked goods are also great. I'd come back for more quiche.

Yelp
I can't tell you how long I've wished for a delicious, cozy and friendly bakery in Westover, a place to sit and enjoy a no-frills (but very good) cup of coffee and nibble on a sweet treat. Village Sweet is just that place!!! The staff are friendly and delightful to chat with, and my muffin choice today, known as the Breakfast Bread, was so insanely delicious without being overly sweet that I bought a second one! I can't recommend this little place enough!! And definitely try the Breakfast Bread! It looks a little small on the display stand, but I'm being totally honest when I say I don't think I've ever tasted a more delicious muffin. It's like a perfectly dense lightly spiced carrot cake muffin with apple slices and huge chucks of walnuts. A perfectly balanced set of flavors!!

Jessica M.

Yelp
Simply delectable scones! I get the fruit ones. Crunchy outside, soft inside, and bursting with fruit. Delicious.

Yelp
Village Sweet is wonderful. I love their scones, interesting flavors, great customer service etc. I have hosted many wine and cupcake decorating parties and it is such a special evening. I have also ordered custom cookies for my company every December for the Holidays. They are a unique, small batch bakery we are truly lucky to have in Westover.
google avatar

Yelp
I love the vibe and the coffee is really good. I like supporting smaller businesses and was thrilled to find a non-chain coffee place in Westover. While they do offer non-dairy milk, they do not have soy milk. And their hours are a bit limited. Other than those two things I think it's a great gem in a chain-filled area.

Yelp
This review is way overdue, but I would be remiss not to mention what a wonderful experience I had working with Village Sweet and, specifically, Dawn. I had wanted to some custom cookies for a cookie table at our wedding (we're from Pittsburgh originally - cookie tables are a weird and delicious tradition there). We got married in the George Washington Masonic Temple in Old Town, so I wanted a cookie themed around that - I had a bakery (which shall remain nameless) lined up to make them, and about two weeks before the wedding I found that what they had promised was not really what they were going to deliver. Two weeks is not a lot of time for a custom order, but Dawn is a champ and accepted the challenge. She took the time to meet with me in person as she didn't want any confusion about what I was ordering as opposed to what she was going to make. She was sweet and helpful and a joy to work with. The cookies were delicious (as was the coffee and scone I had when meeting with her). Everything about the experience was great and I would recommend Dawn and Village Sweet to anyone looking for custom sweets or just a good cup of coffee and a pastry. Thank you, Dawn! You're amazing!

Yelp
The breads and the scones are so delicious here! You will never wonder what flavor any of the selections are because all the flavors are so pronounced and evident. What makes this place so special is that everyone behind the bar is so incredibly nice and helpful. Cheers and enjoy this wonderful place!

Yelp
I'm always weary of hyped up new spots, but this place is the real deal! I went a little nuts and ordered three things: the bacon cheese quiche, the cheddar dill scone, and the strawberry rhubarb coffee cake. And a coffee, of course. The quiche was perfectly fluffy, the bacon was just right. Everyone can make a quiche, only a select few can make it this well. The dill in the scone was so fresh! However, my favorite was the strawberry rhubarb coffee cake. Oh my gosh, it may be the best thing I have ever eaten! It was soft, moist, but fluffy. The strawberry balanced the rhubarb so well. How am I going to keep myself from going every Wednesday for the coffee cake?!? They serve Counter Culture coffee, which was a perfect accompaniment. This is s neighborhood gem! Too bad it's like five neighborhoods away from my own!
google avatar

J B.

Yelp
So, I make finding good coffeeshops and bakeries my second job (because good coffee and cookies make me SO happy!). And finding village sweet in my neighborhood was like striking sugar-dusted gold. This place is better than Baked and Wired (my favorite sugar vendor in DC), and there's no line. Their beverages are good--Counter Culture coffee is consistent served hot or iced, and their iced tea is strong and naturally fruity. But their baked goods are beyond. Everything I've tried I've been impressed by--scones, quiche, bars, cookies, whatever. And anyone I've shared them with has had a similar reaction. I brought some bars and cookies to a party in WV and I heard "OMG", "Wow, they don't bake like this in WV", and "why have you been hiding this from us??!!". Try their chocolate salted oat cookies or their berry oat bar. Also, free wifi and ample seating always available. Nice decor, more masculine than your average pastel-wallpapered bakery--and it's always impeccably clean.
google avatar

Brian K.

Yelp
Counter culture coffee, delicious scones, amazing quiche. Their brownies are a must. Interior is very understated but gorgeous. I really like this little place.

Heather J.

Yelp
This morning before school I took my son to Village Sweet as a little surprise. He was, literally, thrilled, and a little bit speechless, when he tasted his scone. The set-up the bakery uses to address Covid is so pretty and friendly, the quality of the bake goods is second to none, and it is a joy to support such a lovely local business. Delicious!
google avatar

Erik H.

Yelp
Great little bakery. I tried the strawberry rhubarb butter bread and the blueberry lemon scone. Both had just the right amount of sweet. Their coffee selection is limited but what they have is good and pairs well with the sweets. Lastly, their decor is rustic and fun. If they added a few couches in their it'd be a great place to relax. Currently they have a handful of tables you can sit at.
google avatar

Bjorn J.

Yelp
First time ever reviewing but thought I had to. I go to this place a lot and first of all the servers are very friendly, secondly their food and coffee are really good too. But oh man... they started making this new Maple Blueberry scone and holy F&$# is it the best scone I've ever had in my life.

Bill B.

Yelp
I've been a regular since VS opened more than five years ago, darkening its doorway several times a week and inhaling the mouthwatering sweets and savories and the addictive iced tea (even in the dead of winter). There's no better place in Arlington--make that in all of northern Virginia!--to treat your taste buds, and no friendlier owner and staff in the restaurant biz. Village Sweet is a treasure!
google avatar

Ed K.

Yelp
Arlington does not have enough small, hip coffee & bakery shops like this. There's little more to ask for: good coffee, and a daily rotation of savory baked goods that are appropriate for breakfast. All this is served in an environment that is (not yet) crowded by people who seem happy to be serving you. It seems like every day there are two savory options, which is great. It would be nice if they would add 1-2 more. Like many folks, I don't like sweets for breakfast because it gives me a blood sugar crash later in the day. The owners should do a little more to advertise their presence. It is hard to see the edison bulbs from the street and their awning sign is pretty unassuming. If you don't look very closely you wouldn't know this place is here.
google avatar

Patrick K.

Yelp
Best Bakery in Arlington!! Cookies, Cake, & Cupcakes were awesome. Really loved the brown sugar cupcakes! Frosting was to die for!!

Sam M.

Yelp
We had scones which were delicious. The dark chocolate is an obvious king, but cheddar and jalapeño pairs perfectly with a latte. Next to try is breakfast bread
google avatar

Felipe Q.

Yelp
Great baked goods like Mexican brownies, raspberry or apricot bars, pop tarts and different kinds of pound cakes. Also savory scones and quiche. Update pecan bars are outta sight.
google avatar

Anna W.

Yelp
I recently threw a baby shower and custom ordered cookies in advance. Perfect. The ease of ordering and the kindness of Brenda sold me from the beginning, but the final product has me a lifelong customer (if only I lived closer!). Delicious and exactly what I had envisioned. I also ordered cupcakes for the shower, and not a single crumb was leftover. Village Sweet is a perfect mixture of delightful coffee shop plus bakery extraordinaire. Can't recommend these guys enough.

Ellie E.

Yelp
Wonderful. They have these savory pop tart type things that I would really recommend and their cinnamon rolls are THE BOMB! Would highly recommend. Also they have a little chalkboard area for kids or toddlers to color or draw
google avatar

Stephen M.

Yelp
This bakery is sensational! I did not know about it until one of my friends in Italy was looking to treat me with something special. She did her homework online and found village sweet bakery. She called the owner and asked her to make something very special just for me and it was delivered to my front door on my birthday. Not only were the goodies beautifully presented, but they were delectable too! I think I just found my new favorite bakery.

Lucille H.

Yelp
The bakers here are so sweet... very good bakery goods too... try their quiche... very nice...

Lj M.

Yelp
Lovely coffee shop/bakery in Westover with a cool ambiance. They always have wonderful FRESH pastries-breads, muffins, granola bars, etc. The place never disappoints!

Lori F.

Yelp
Don't go anywhere else! I mean it!! I go here just about every other Saturday morning to get some treats for hub and I. Always the cinnamon roll, a scone, and 1 other thing (yes, we pig out in Saturday's!). All I can say is yum! -Cinnamon rolls are sticky sweet on top and bottom and light and fluffy in between. - Scone flavors are different all the time - today's was chocolate on chocolate. That is never a bad combo! - also got a slice of the "health" loaf... but I doubt it would pass muster with weight watchers anywhere: yes, it had zucchini and raisins and walnuts... and also TONS of butter. Pretty delish. If you are looking for some excellent baked goods, served up by some of the nicest counter people ever!!, come here. But come Saturday mid-morning so I am assured my cinnamon roll "fix"!!

Yelp
Absolutely love this neighborhood coffee shop. Delicious coffee and amazing pastries.

Mark R.

Yelp
Delicious coffee and a very nice neighborhood place. Really good scones and cookies. I heard you can also place orders for custom cakes. Nice atmosphere...great place for remote work if you want clean and quiet.

Aryn G.

Yelp
Such a wonderful bakery, the perfect addition to the Westover shopping center. The pastries and cakes are divine. The bakers come up with fantastically interesting flavor combinations alongside the tried and true ones. They have great coffee too. The atmosphere is very comfortable and casual with beautiful design and friendly staff. Side note: even if you can't/don't eat gluten, you can still indulge. They have the best gluten free peanut butter cookies (about the size of a small child's head). Definitely worth every penny.

Yelp
Delicious food in a wonderfully cozy atmosphere/-reminds me of an Australian cafe because of its excellent service, delicious food, and yummy coffee

Yelp
About a month ago, I ordered 30 snowflake cookies to give out as favors at my daughter's bday party. I was supposed to pick them up on Saturday. They left a message that I didn't receive the prior Sunday bc I had damaged my phone. In the message they said they emailed me, but I never received an email at all. The message also said that I needed to confirm by Thursday. I didn't hear this message until Saturday, when I got a new phone. They didn't make my cookies bc they said I didn't confirm. I went in and ordered those cookies and filled out a form a month prior. Isn't that confirmation enough?!?! If that is not enough confirmation then they need to take a deposit or something. When I made that order I was under the impression that my cookies would be made for the date I said I needed them by. Then they were unable to rectify the situation for me. I was left scrambling at that last minute to come up with a favor for my daughter's party. It was beyond disappointing. It is too bad bc I have ordered cookies from them before and they were cute and tasty.

Yelp
What a great little spot! $3 for a large iced coffee, which was delicious. We also had a slice of butter pistachio pound cake, and even though I told my boyfriend I didn't want any, I ended up eating my fair share... Super delicious.
