The 22 Best Restaurants In SoMa - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"This Chinese restaurant is the neighborhood’s casual dumpling destination. When the clock strikes noon, nearby office dwellers descend from their high rises and ergonomic chairs to devour crispy sheng jian bao and excellent boiled dumplings with purple-tinted wrappers. At night, the deceivingly large space is also filled with groups of tourists fresh off a MOMA visit or coworkers debriefing a dramatic all-hands meeting over shareable dishes. Go for any of the steamed, boiled, or pan-fried dumplings for the best path to success, along with the dry-fried chicken wings drenched in a spicy-sweet glaze." - julia chen 1, lani conway, ricky rodriguez, patrick wong

Google
This place deserves more recognition! The food was wonderful and very prompt! The waiter genuinely went out of his way to make us feel welcome. I would recommend the pork chili oil wontons and the pork and cabbage dumplings for sure!

Adam B.

Google
This is my new favorite dim sum in SF. Great service, the dishes come out quickly (no carts) and I can’t say enough about the food. So good. The shimp dumplings were distinctively better than any I’ve ever had.

Julia C.

Google
No wait to sit down which is uncommon for dim sum in the area. Friendly and quick service despite being understaffed. They were out of quite a few items on the menu. The scallion oil noodles just tasted like soy sauce, I don't recommend those. I do recommend the bbq pork buns, string beans, and pork sheng jian bao. The last two are a must order!

W. L.

Google
All the food came out hot and perfectly cooked. Everything was delicious and we couldn’t help but finish every last bite even though we were full.

Google
Ordered pickup here and did not realize they were closing early that night until after we arrived. They were super nice about it! The food smelled so good that we ended up wolfing down most of it on the bench right outside the restaurant because we couldn’t wait. We ordered the pork XLB, dan dan noodles, Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce, chili oil wonton, and pan fried shrimp and chive dumplings. All of it was fantastic, but I think the shrimp and chive dumplings were my favorite. So good!

Alice L.

Google
The Dan Dan Noodles here are exceptional. I ordered both the Dan Dan Noodles and the chili oil wontons. The sauce for the Dan Dan Noodles is rich and flavorful, and the portion size is perfect—not too much, not too little. The noodles come with a generous amount of minced meat. The wontons are generously filled, with a noticeable amount of shrimp in each bite. They are not very spicy but still quite delicious. The service staff is very courteous, and the interior decor is clean and well-maintained. The food is not overly salty, making for a very enjoyable dining experience. The seating by the window offers a particularly pleasant atmosphere.

Google
The food was amazing. The portions were great for the price or to pick different things to share which I highly recommend. There is a variety of options for dumplings, buns, and side dishes. The hot and sour soup was the best I’ve had. The scallion oil noodles and spicy chicken dumplings were great!

Google
This was a good experience from the moment we walked in the restaurant. The staff made us feel like old friends being hosted by extraordinary culinary experts. Loved every bite. In descending order of wonder for me: WOW: Dan Dan noodles 1. Chili Oil Wonton 2. Shrimps. Woodear. Chives dumpling 3. BBQ Pork buns 4. Pork Sheng Jian bao 5. Pork Xiao Long bao. For dessert, the Coconut Pudding. It was a mystical experience that brought me back to eating fresh tender coconut from Cayo Sombrero in Venezuela. My heart left full as well as my stomach.

Yelp
Summary: Quick and good dim sum in Soma. The green beans were surprisingly the star of the night. Details: Grabbed dinner with a friend on a weekday. Focused mainly on the dim sum--dumplings, pork BBQ, shen jian bao, as well as the green beans and some tea. Dishes came out as they were ready, as expected. The dumplings and pork were good, good flavoring and texture in each dish. Shen jian bao (pork) is worth trying especially--good crispy outside and juicy inside (careful it's hot though). However the green beans were easily the best for me, which is surprising as a veggie side: very savory and well seasoned. Definitely getting it again when I return.

Yelp
Ordered the Dan Dan noodle, soup bun, and Thai iced tea. Dan Dan noodles were not spicy at all (I can't handle spicy either) oily dish. good flavor nice soft chewy noodle 8/10 Pan fried Soup bun- juicy and good amount of meat. Soup was tasty. Bread was a but too hard from the pan frying than I prefer. 7/10 Thai ice tea was solid Wouldn't particularly come back.

Yelp
Nice super clean modern tea house. Yummy fresh and hot , delicious dishes. Friendly and quick efficient service . Would highly recommend!

Yelp
Tasty spot for a light lunch or dinner. Food: Tried the Honey Walnut Shrimp, the Shrimp Dumplings and the Chili Oil Wontons. I would order all of them again, but my favorite was the Honey Walnut Shrimp - they were decently sized and were not overly sweet. The only thing is they were pricy for the amount of shrimp you get, but they were really good. Service: Service was professional and quick on a Wednesday evening. Ambiance: The restaurant has a modern feel to it and gets plenty of natural light from the windows during the day. Overall: it's a good option if you are in the area and looking for a bite to eat.

Yelp
A group of us on a business trip were looking for an affordable place to get dumplings, and we came across this hidden gem. The service was quick, it wasn't crowded at 6 pm on a Tuesday, and the menu prices were very cheap. We ordered the Pork Xiao Long Bao, the Pork Sheng Jian Bao, the BBQ pork rice, and the stir-fried garlic string beans. Everything was incredible - highly, highly recommend everything!

Yelp
Stopped by this dumpling spot for a quick weekday lunch and was pleasantly surprised how yummy everything was. The highlight was of course the Sheng Jian Bao with a nice crisp bottom and lots of soup in the dumpling. The flavor was good but personally I like the soup to be a bit sweeter but overall really well made. We also got the Garlic String Beans and Shrimp, Woodear, Chives Dumplings to share. The string beans were nicely blistered and great to snack on and the shrimp dumplings nice and light. The shrimp dumplings definitely needed some sauce to go alongside it but was great for something different. Happy to have found this spot closer to SoMa where there aren't many options for homestyle Chinese food.

Yelp
This is a good quality dim sum restaurant that is reasonably priced for the location in downtown SF! Arrived with a friend around 12:40 on a Tuesday - it was busy but we were seated within 7 minutes. We shared Oolong tea (4/5) and 3 dim sum dishes: -shrimp dumplings (4.5/5) good size, came with 4 -Pork soup dumplings (4/5) pretty good, though I've had better XLB in SF -BBQ pork bun (4.5/5) very tasty, good filling We wanted to order one more dish but no one came around in time to take the order before we had to leave. I recommend ordering everything you want up front, as it can be hard to get someone to take your order again when they're busy. We didn't get offered any drink refills. Food came in a timely fashion after ordering. A decent sized, clean dining room with nice seating, but I'd recommend going as a party of 2-4 people.

Yelp
I stopped by this place on a whim! my boyfriend and I were craving something hot in the gloomy sf weather. we came by this place and were pleasantly surprised with their dan dan noodles, they were the best! the pan fried and steamed dumplings were good

Yelp
A solid Chinese place a block from the main Market street in Fidi. The place is spacious with comfortable, modern furniture, and the menu is extensive with a variety of dumpling, rice, and noodle options. Went on a Wednesday night and it was plenty busy at a 5:30pm, the food coming out quickly and attentive staff with water refills. . Sheng Jian Bao: (5/5) Perfectly crispy bottoms with plenty of soup and nicely seasoned pork. . Chili oil wonton: (4/5) Strong spice in the chili oil but the meat isn't as flavorful as the meat in the pan fried pork buns. . Char Siu Rice: (3/5) It's okay, for a clay pot rice I expected the rice at the bottom to come out more crispy but the flavors are as you'd expect. Small portion. . Pan fried String Bean: (5/5) The string beans are addictive, with the perfect texture and crisp with each bite.

Yelp
Got this last Tuesday - the food was delish! Was craving something hot, temperature wise. Got the 'stuffed eggplant & tofu with shrimp' under the wok section of the menu. Service was not bad. Definitely a cozy (not small) industrial modern spot kind of vibes. Would go back to try dumplings and maybe get tea next time.
google avatar

Melissa P.

Yelp
I came just for the XLB, and they were amazing! I loved the seared bottoms. The service was slow at 1 pm, even though they were winding down and closing at 2 pm. I can't complain since the food was so good. The ambiance was also nice, with decorations for the Lunar New Year. I will be back to try some more delicious items like the Dan Dan noodles.
google avatar

Anvita S.

Yelp
Dan Dan noodles are deliciously bouncy, and go super well with their chili oil. Pork dumplings had a bit of a thick skin for me but enjoyed the honey walnut shrimp and chili wontons.

Yelp
Stopped by on a cold & rainy day and their food just hit the spot. Many of the Dim Sum places in the city had long wait times but we were able to stroll right in. I found the prices comparable to similar restaurants. Village Tea House had a very cozy feeling although I happened to be seated under a harsh spotlight, so that was a bit uncomfortable. As for service, everything was great. They did run out of Thai Iced Tea so that was a bummer. My kids did not enjoy the Rose Iced milk tea as it had a very "flowery" taste. Also, if you have mobility issues, you may want to avoid coming here because the restroom is on the 2nd floor accessible by stairs only. Overall, nice dining experience!
google avatar

Yelp
The people were very nice. We got seated immediately and it was definitely a quaint little spot. My coworker took us here because she loves the place so we had to try it. We got an assortment of things but my favorite was the soup baos! They are the best and I'd get them over and over again. Just be careful to not toss the entire thing in your mouth or you'll burn your tongue. Will definitely come back.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this spot on a Thursday evening in the city. Were seated right away without a reservation for dinner. Shared soup dumplings, fried soup dumplings, salt and pepper wings and ended with the sesame balls. Everything was delicious. We had never come across the fried version of soup dumplings but those were definitely a favorite. The sesame balls are the perfect small dessert to end the meal. The service is fast and attentive and friendly. Really enjoyed our food here. There are so many dim sum spots in the city but glad we stumbled across this spot.

Yelp
Good place to go with a group (ambiance is clean and nice) but the food is mid imo. I came here with five friends after work and we ordered several dishes for the table. I wasn't very impressed by the garlic green beans (which Dumpling Home does better) or dan dan noodles (which didn't taste very authentic). The shengjian bao was fine but also pales in comparison to some other Chinese restaurants in the city and South Bay.
google avatar

Yelp
Staying in SoMa and in search of a dim sum spot for lunch, I stumbled upon Village Tea House and I'm so happy I did! I was sat quickly and service was super fast. The pork xiao long bao are delicious, a thin dough with a lot of soup, so good! The stir fried garlic green beans are soooo good; they have a perfect crunch & lots of flavor... needed a little more heat from the chili oil on the table! Be careful bc the pork sheng bao came out soooo hot it burned my mouth but it was so good & different, I'd never had a pan fried soup dumpling! All in all, check this spot out for good sit-down & clean dim sum in downtown SF, you won't be disappointed!!

Yelp
Absolutely a hidden gem in SF. Quality of food was excellent . Would have loved larger portions of noodles though. Looking forward to going back . Convenient to BART .

Yelp
This place was on the list for lunch with some co-workers and boy, did it not disappoint. I am from the midwest where Asian food isn't too present, so I didn't really know what to expect and was so glad I was with people who knew what to order. We ordered several different options and shared them family style. Pork Sheng Jian Bao Green onion pancake Stir fried string beans La Zi chicken Dan Dan noodles Scallion oil noodles Mapo tofu Shrimp dumplings Everything was so incredibly delicious! The service was great, the restaurant was quaint and cozy, and the food was unmatched! Make sure to order the butterfly lychee drink. Not only was it gorgeous, but beyond tasty. I wished I would have grabbed one to go!

Yelp
Came here for lunch while visiting SF for a work conference. Had no idea what to expect and did no research on the menu ahead of time, but was extremely delighted by our experience. We split a bunch of things family style, and I will list them out in order of my favorites. Our server was attentive, and our food came out quickly and piping hot. Pork Sheng Jian Bao - my first time having pan fried soup dumplings and I'm in love! Green onion pancake - always a winner Stir fried string beans - so flavorful! La Zi chicken - i love that Szechuan peppers tingle!! Dan Dan noodles - always a winner Scallion oil noodles - delish Mapo tofu - I've never seen it done with a block of fried tofu instead of the silken tofu but it was still delicious! Shrimp dumplings - not my thing but others loved them. Great amount of food for the price.

Yelp
This is a solid downtown dim sum spot. The service is truly a standout here. Very polite and attentive staff. Even though the place was churning, they sat us and took our order quickly. The food was hot and fresh. The pan fried pork buns were tasty but maybe less complex than others I've had, I'd say the same about the shrimp dumplings but these are all still worth ordering. The mapo tofu with rice stood out! So complex and flavorful, perfectly tender tofu. The spot is also cute and wooden indoors for a slightly more upscale dim sum feel. Very clean and great for a quick dinner or a date!

Yelp
Came here during a First Thursday event in SF! We shared the pork sheng Jain bao and the Dan Dan noodles. We could've had one more dish but we didn't want to carry leftovers between the two of us. Dan Dan noodles: yum! Rich and thick sauce. Not as schezuan-spicy as other ones I've had, but added the chili oil on the table and it was great! Pork sheng Jain bao: super hot temperature-wise and the waiter fairly warned us. This was my first time having pan fried soup dumplings, and I just didn't like it as much as other soup dumplings I've had. The flavor was good and it was full of soup. Super clean and spacious interior. Friendly service. Food came out fast but the restaurant got busy and had to wait a bit to get our check.

Yelp
lunch on a monday with coworkers, immediately seated. cozy environment with pretty decor and nice place to chat without being too loud. started with jasmine tea, then sweet and sour soup, then wontons in chili oil, siu mai, bbq pork buns, pork xiao long bao, and their pan fried soup dumplings. So mu juice in all of the soup dumpling! they were super hot and fresh so make sure you take a bite to get the hot air out first. Spicy wontons were so flavorful and paired well with the soy/vinegar/chili sauce we had at the table. Pretty standard dim sum in sf with average prices, good service, and satisfying fix if you're in the area.
google avatar

Yelp
Beautiful furniture, it's never crowded, at least not when I've dined there, the food that I've ordered have been consistently amazing. The items that make my mouth water are the chili oil wontons (ABSOLUTE MUST ORDER) and the garlic green beans. The chicken wings are also amazing! It's a bit pricey but it's so worth it!
google avatar

Nat W.

Yelp
I had a dinner tonight here and everything was delicious. Even my picky 3-year-old was eating some of the dishes we ordered. The sesame balls for dessert is a must. The service was good as well. I would love to come back and try other items. Note: last order is 7:35pm.

Yelp
Wow. My mom and I were in the area at YBCA and needed lunch so figured we'd give village tea house a try. Expectations met and exceeded. Came on a Wednesday at lunchtime (noon?) and no wait. The servers were quick with taking our orders and food came out one at a time, but quickly! - Dan dan noodles: thick flavorful sauce. The noodles were thick and chewy, and I love that the sauce was balanced, not too oily, not too chili. I will say that I wouldn't call it authentic or what I think of necessarily when i think of dan dan noodles, but they were still great. - Green onion pancake: SOOOO thin and SOOO crispy. If you like your green onion pancakes a little more doughy and a lil more sustenance then these aren't for you. I was a fan tho of the crisp flakiness. - Xiao long bao: wrapper was thin, broth was flavorful, filling was good. My only thing for these was that they were a little small and one order only comes with 5. - Chili oil wonton: different than din tai fung chili wontons, but still phenomenal. Not overly oily, super good umami flavor, well rounded - Sheng jian bao: I have been looking for a good sheng jian bao for so so long and this one is pretty damn good. Dough is solid, the pan fried bottom is great texture, so much soup inside, filling isn't mushy and has texture and flavor. What is not to love. Extra shoutout: We ordered a sheng jian bao to go (since they were so good), but left before we got the to go order (slipped out minds). We had already left the city when we realized and I called 5 min before they closed to ask if we could come back! They offered to venmo us the amount of the baos but we really wanted them so they accommodated and though they were closed, made us a new order for us to pick up 30 min later! Will be coming back next time in the city! Thank you village tea house!

Yelp
Went here for an early dinner, wasn't packed or loud, food quality was great. The soup dumplings in particular were amazing. Asked the server for a few other recommendations and they were all great. Didn't feel like he was trying to push more food than we could order as well. Would definitely come again for a quiet conversational dinner.
google avatar

Yelp
So much soup!!!! Can't believe how much soup they keep in these buns but it was incredible. If I had to nit, I'd say the dough is a tad thick, and not as crispy as I would like, but otherwise 10/10!! Definitely give these a try
google avatar

Sonal P.

Yelp
Great service, good food. Best green beans I've ever had! Xlb was so so. All other dumplings were good but not somewhere I'd go out of my way to return to.

Yelp
Food: 5/5 Service: 4/5 Price: 4/5 Atmosphere: 4/5 TL;DR: Randomly came across this place with a few friends & decided to give it a shot, and we were pleasantry surprised. Everything we got was pretty good, the service was fast, and it's fairly reasonably priced (esp for SF). Would def come back here! Dan Dan Noodles: *5/5*: Really flavorful, you can already tell by looking at the color of the sauce/broth. Compared to traditional dan dan noodles, it is on the sweeter side but I really liked that. Would've preferred if there was veggies in this dish to cut the richness but still delicious. Also wish portion was a little bigger Xiao Long Bao: *4/5*: The filling is really good, soft, and savory. There's perfect amount, if not a lot, of soup inside the dumpling. The wrapping was delicious but a little too thick on the top. Overall, pretty decent. Shrimp Paste Doughnut: *5/5*: I always order this when I see it on the menu. The doughnut is nice and crispy and there was a hefty filling of shrimp paste on top. Could've used more sauce, as ours barely had any on it. But great dish to order as a shareable app -- won't be disappointed.

Yelp
I wasn't expecting too much when I came here for dinner. The first thing i noticed was how well decorated it was, i loved the interior design. We decided to order a variety of dishes to test out what was good. Hot and sour soup - one of the better ones i've had! It has more ingredients which is what i like Pork sheng jian bao - it is difficult finding a place that makes these correctly but this place does this so well! Beef brisket soup - not as good compared to the other foods Lazhi chicken - very good and will order again!
google avatar

Felicia L.

Yelp
It's fine Chinese food but not particularly amazing. It works for a quick lunch if you work around the area, but I definitely wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. If you're looking for something more authentic and has more depth of flavor, I would visit elsewhere. The service was fine, although once more people came in during lunch hour it felt like we had to try really hard just to flag someone down for our check. It felt like they were understaffed. The decor was pretty and everything looked clean. This place does get swamped during weekdays at lunch time to the point where you probably have to wait for a table, so just keep that in mind!
google avatar

Mei T.

Yelp
I hosted a team luncheon here for work and reserved a long table for 17 people. We ordered a large variety of food and everything was really good! This was one of my favorite restaurants in San Francisco. The ambiance was really nice. I loved the contemporary decor, especially the giant sized dim sum steaming trays and ladles at the entrance. Our servers were a bit overwhelmed by our large group, but did a good a good job taking care of our party. The music was a bit loud, but they were able to tone it down a bit so we could have our business discussions. Overall, we had a positive experience and would recommend this restaurant!

Yelp
Went solo for lunch and had a great experience and great xio long bao! Very kind staff

Yelp
Good dumplings! Would come here on a quiet night but it gets crowded often, esp during conferences

Yelp
Highly recommend this spot for dumplings. Had a local recommend it to me and so glad I listened. All the dumplings we ordered were great. The pork bun and soup dumplings stood out the most. I also had a Thai tea which was wonderful. The service was great and food came out very quickly.

C M.

Yelp
We arrived on a Monday at 12:30 pm and were seated right away. The waitress was attentive and friendly. The ambiance was chic and upscale. We ordered Dan Dan noodles, Pork Bao and Sui Mai. All were delicious. We would have liked to have ordered more, but the prices were on the higher side as you might expect for the business district location.

Yelp
The dining area at Village Tea House is spacious, simple, and nicely decorated. Their Pork Sheng Jian Bao and Aha Jiang Noodles are must-tries. I also thoroughly enjoyed the Xiao Long Bao (XLB), Fried Tofu with Spicy Sauce, Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings, Minced Pork Rice, and Stir-Fried Garlic String Beans. The only dish I would skip is the Cucumber Salad, as the sauce had an off-putting flavor that was hard to pinpoint. For dessert, we had Sesame Balls and Lava Buns, both of which were very tasty. The service was excellent, with all the staff being very friendly. I just wish they were open on weekends too.

Yelp
Mediocre Chinese food :( My friend and I eat a lot of Chinese food and we were pretty disappointed with place. We ordered a variety of dishes and while we were full, we weren't happy with what we had eaten. However, they did have decent prices. We got the: - Fresh Watermelon Juice (4/5 - hard to go wrong with this) - Dan Dan Noodles (1/5 - the sauce flavor was just not there at all and was super watery & just didn't feel authentic Dan Dan noodles but not sure if they were trying to go for their "own version" - either way not for us) - Pork Siu Long Bao (1/5 - there's 3 things that go into a SLB for me and it's the soup, meat, and wrap; the only thing good here was the wrap and how thin they were able to make it but they definitely need to work on the placement because even if they expand, they shouldn't be all sticking to each other bc then, it'll rip when you try to pick it up) - Chili Oil Wonton (2/5 - the sauce tasted very similar to the Dan Dan noodles but was ok overall) Overall, I wouldn't come back. The service was also nothing special; when we tried to get the check, the place was empty and we waited a while for a waiter in the back to come out.

Yelp
Contemporary decor of East meets West when dining. Pleasantly surprised that this place exists. It can be easily missed from walking by. I adore their Pork Sheng Ji Bao - it had the right amount of dough layer and soupiness. My favorite dumpling here. Their other steamed dumplings were of the norm. Dan Dan noodle sauce is something unique and makes one slurp for more to embrace that flavor. Beef noodle soup was solid and their beef was tender. Their green onion pancake was thinly crisp and tasty. Stuffed eggplant tofu and string beans were spot on. Sesame balls were freshly fried and were complimentary to us. Steamed egg custard buns, were soft and just the right amount of sweetness. Service was superbly attentive and nice! Yummy tapa bite sized dishes and great for casual gathering kind of dining.

Yelp
Great spot for soup and pan fried dumplings! The location is great for office employees near the salesforce tower area. The interior is spacious and well decorated and the food is super solid. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
These were some of my favorite dumplings I've ever had! We went big on ordering and got the following: Dan Dan noodles - absolutely delicious, not that spicy, just a tiny bit of heat, tasted more of the peanut(who in I loved) - easy to share but if you have a bigger group get two orders because you'll want more! Pork Sheng Jian Bao - nice crisp bottom and oh so good, but HOT! Burned myself on the soup in this one Pork Siu Long Bao - a crowd pleaser, not too hot and so delicious Shrimp Dumpling - one of my favorites, absolutely stuffed with shrimp Chili Oil Wonton - full of flavor and a top contender, expected this one to be spicy but once again not too bad, just a little heat Shrimp, Woodear, Chives Dumpling - really liked this one, needed that salty soy sauce though BBQ Pork Bun - normally don't like buns but this on me was good, had a decent amount of stuffing Basil chicken nuggets - more like popcorn chicken, good but not a top contender for me. Garlic trying beans - exactly what you'd expect BBQ pork rice bowl - pretty good, probably my least favorite thing because it was really about the dumplings for me, but others really liked it Food was also very reasonably priced, def didn't break the bank. Came here for a team lunch on a busy Thursday afternoon. The spot isn't necessarily designed for big groups, but they were able to accommodate! All that food was for 6 people and we left stuffed. Food came out one item at a time, not sure if that's because they were busy or it's how it's always done, but I do prefer when there's more items at once so that I can bounce back and forth between items/end on my favorite last.

Vivian L.

Yelp
The food was sooo good! Everything tasted amazing, but I was disappointed by the small portion size for the honey walnut shrimp and stir fried garlic string beans. I came before 12 noon and didn't have to wait for a table. The staff were friendly and the interior has a nice vibe with brick walls and nice tables. Would recommend checking this place out!

Yelp
This place is decent. I didn't have high expectations when I picked this place. It had good reviews and I saw pics of soup dumplings so I had to come. I'm always in search of dim sum because Austin doesn't have good places. My coworker and I ordered the bbq pork buns, dry fried wings, string beans, soup dumplings x2, pork bao, sui mai x2. I really liked the soup dumplings and string beans. I was pleasantly surprised by the soup dumplings. My go to place in the USA is new York's Joe Shanghai. This place was good enough that it hit the spot. Usually it's too sweet, no soup, or no flavor. This one was just right. I would say it's tied or second to Joe's Shanghai which says a lot. The dry fried wings were too sweet and I didn't like the sauce on it. I rather it be dry with sauce on the side. The sui mai was okay. My coworker liked it enough to get a second order. I preferred the soup dumplings. I would come back to get 2x soup dumpling and 2x beans lol.

Yelp
Need a lunch spot? Go to this delicious place. Dim sum hot spot: you order from the menu instead of seeing food carts push by your tables. Pork dumplings were hot, perfect soup broth inside and crispy at the bottom. One of the better dumplings I've had. Crispy tofu with spicy sauce - I didn't care for the spicy sauce because it had an odd tang or pickled taste. I would skip it. Chili oil wontons - it was good and tasty. Not spicy. Shrimp paste on Chinese doughnut - my favorite dish. The doughnut was crunchy and not too oily. The shrimp paste was flavorful and a great combo with the doughnut. I think they could cook the top of the shrimp paste a little longer so it has a bit of brown to the top. One of the cleanest dim sum Chinese restaurants as well. Service - fast, efficient, and very friendly Highly recommend to try this spot!

Yelp
Highly recommend this place if you're craving dumplings, noodles, dim sum, and more! The owners of Village Tea House are the same family who run City View, one of the best dim sum restaurants in San Francisco. Because of this, you can guarantee that Village Tea House serves food of high quality. They offer steamed, boiled, and pan fried dumplings. We had the shrimp, wood ear, chives dumpling, pork siu long bao, and pork sheng jian bao. All three dumplings were flavorful, delicate, had skin not too doughy, and were generously filled. The other dishes we ordered were great too - shrimp paste donut, minced pork rice (basically pork belly fried rice topped with an egg and veg), dan dan noodle, and stuffed eggplant and tofu with shrimp. My favorite was the dan dan noodle, which were chewy noodles in a thick peanut, chili, minced pork sauce. For dessert we had sesame balls and steam custard buns which were both delicious. Definitely come give this place a try and support a new business! You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Date of Visit: 9/21/2023 We visited the Village Tea Hosue located in downtown San Francsico near Financial District and SoMa on a Thursday evening. This is my second visit and there is no wait on a weekday evening for dinner. Watermenlon Juice $7 We ordered the drink special, and the freshly made watermelon juice was very tasty! Pork Sheng Jian Bao $13 This deep fried soup dumpings are my favorites! There are 6 of the soup dumplings, and each of them were crispy on the bottom, and yummy with many soup inside. Stir Fried Garlic String Beans $13 We also got the stir fried garlic string beans, which is a great option to have as a veggie side. Minced Pork Rice $14 This is quite a big bowl of minced pork rice. Not the authentic Taiwanese version but was good too. A good amount of minced pork on top of rice, and with some steamed vegetable and a braised egg.

Yelp
Really good dim sum in the Fidi. Prices are reasonable and comparable to other dim sum restaurants in the city. Ordered the Dan Dan noodle, pork sheng jian bao, and pork xlb, which were all delicious. I was so eager to eat I forgot to take pics of my food, but did capture the restaurant, which is a beautiful space (I got there right at opening and it filled up quickly after taking these pictures). Service was fast and friendly. Would recommend to anyone looking for really good dim sum in the Fidi.

Yelp
Wow what a great spot! Came here for brunch with colleagues in a big group and had an excellent meal. The dim sum was fantastic - lots of delicious dumplings, vegetables, noodles and buns. The BBQ pork bun was a favorite, as were the soup dumplings. The butterfly lychee tea was excellent too! Really nice staff - we had a great time!
