This bakery has been here for seven years, and I've lived in this neighborhood for three, yet it took too damn long for us to cross paths!
I randomly discovered this place while picking up sushi around the corner, and as a bakery connoisseur, I couldn't believe there was a bakery nearby that I was unfamiliar with! The baked goods reflect the shop--an unpretentious small business with a relaxed feel, like you're visiting Aunt Martha for Thanksgiving. Except for Aunt Martha is actually an uncle and you have to purchase what you eat.
I'll start with the quiche. I tried a slice on a whim. Why not, it's my first visit. The owner recommended the mushroom goat cheese quiche, and it was AMAZING! He says it's his favorite and I totally understand why. He does not skimp on the goat cheese, the flavors work really well together, and that almond-y crust is crumbly and fresh. No sogginess like you'd find in a lot of quiches.
Next up, the cream cheese chocolate muffin--I'm a sucker for these, and the muffin was moist throughout. No sad, dry muffin bottoms here.
I also tried the brownie, which was super moist--the right amount of cake-y-ness vs. fudge-y-gooey goodness.
I have a slice of cake that I'll be having after dinner tonight, and I expect nothing less than excellence!
This is a must-try for baked goods in Portland. Super chill, delicious, and comes with a side of great conversation if you're into it!
