Wow! This place is fantastic. Have been there several times with a friend who lives in the area and look forward to return visits. My favorite food item so far is the breakfast biscuit sandwich. But I've tried a few different things so far and have never been disappointed. The owner is such a nice and friendly guy and I'm always happy to see him behind the counter because I know we'll have good conversation. His cheesecake is just amazing. He's created a fun and whimsical environment in which to sit and enjoy the delicious treats. The coffee is wonderful too. Check out the fun collections of various memorabilia, such as the Pee-Wee Herman items in the back corner. I'll definitely be back even though I live across town!

Google
Okay, pop off! First time in today after a friend of mine (who is a regular) has been suggesting this place for literal months. Very impressed. I got a breakfast sandwich with bacon, HUGE and very satisfying. Service was great. The owners obviously invested time into the aesthetic, which is very fun! Will definitely be back <3

Google
I had the chocolate chip cookie and a caramel late. Both were excellent. Also picked up a couple of day old cookies that were also very good. The staff were very nice and helpful and answered all my questions. The shop is also very warm and inviting. I will definitely come back when in the area because I love local shops with great food like this one. The prices are also very reasonable.

Google
VilleVelo and Jeffery are Alberta neighborhood institutions. I’ve been going here for years and everything has always been delicious. I’m more of a savory person. The biscuit and gravy is my go-to but the breakfast sandwich is also a solid option. The savory tarts are always changing and really good. I typically will grab a cookie or something sweet for later. Really no bad options.

Google
A friend recommended this place. It is fabulous including the atmosphere and service. We ordered a variety of items but we first munched on the sausage roll and it did not disappoint. It was delicious and savory. We then skipped the other breakfast items and jumped right into the chocolate cookie and it was heavenly. Please give this bakery a try if you’ve never been.

Google
One of the best parts of moving back to NE Portland is being within 5 minutes of this incredible bakery. I forgot how absolutely mind-altering the biscuit sandwiches are - if you get there early enough to try one. Love this place and will continue to eat my weight in Bavarian cream almost every Sunday. This is a "must try" kind of place!

Google
So glad I was introduced to this bakery! The owner is very nice and made my experience very enjoyable! He let me have a sample of his homemade lemon curd and it was so good! The homemade pop tarts are amazing and they were filled with peach I love peach jam and always wish pop tarts would make a peach flavor so that was do nice! The hermit 🍪 are incredible also!! This little quaint and cozy bakery will not disappoint!

Google
VilleVelo is an incredibly cute bakery with a multitude of different pastries and dishes (meals) to choose from. All of the pastries that were on display when I went in the afternoon looks delicious, but I sided to try the biscuits and gravy which was really yummy and incredibly affordable at only $7!! I absolutely adore the look of this bakery and I was greeted with friendly service. I highly recommend a stop here, I'll definitely be back in the future for a coffee and a pastry!

Yelp
Charming owner/baker, good pastries, fair prices. Loved the quiche here, the cashew cookie and the fantastic flourless chocolate cake.

Yelp
An overall okay neighborhood bakery/coffee shop with friendly staff. Not much seating inside but they do offer a lot of baked goods options! The good: Chocolate cookie looks unassuming but ordered anyway due to other reviews and it didn't disappoint. Perfect chewiness and it was not too decadent. The okay: Hummingbird bread: it's good banana bread and I didn't taste the pineapple that's supposed to be there; Dulce de leche brownie: this one was decadent but tasted just like regular brownie. The not great: Sausage roll: after it was heated up, the roll was burnt and the sausage was lukewarm. The baguette sandwich: the breading was very (too) dense although the cheese and jam made it edible.

Lanette A.

Yelp
Once again, the hummingbird cake and cupcakes for John's birthday were yummy. Ready on time. A very pleasant experience!

Yelp
We tried a plethora of items in which none were bad but also nothing mind blowing. After seeing all the 5 star reviews on Google and Yelp was expecting something more i suppose but didn't feel it was above and beyond other options. - sausage dog was pretty light, maybe a tad overcooked bun and more of a hot dog than i what I think of sausage - hummingbird bread was probably my favorite, didn't taste the pineapple but the other ingredients were great (the frosting also brought back memories of homemade pumpkin bars) - chocolate chip cookie, also quite good. It isn't gooey soft but also not too hard/crisp - browny, flavors were all really good just wish a tad softer - sando, ingredients were good but the bread was bringing it down a bit unfortunately Ambiance is unique and staff is very welcoming/nice.

Yelp
Went here and it ended up being so busy we decided to grab everything to go, it's a really cute shop with fun decor. The staff is super super nice and friendly and it just seems like a fun place. We grabbed a few items, breakfast sandwich, biscuits and gravy, and a couple of treats and I grabbed a mocha. Overall everything was really good. My only thing I wish was that the pastry case had no sign so you couldn't figure out what you wanted. The person behind the counter did go through every pastry with me and we had lots of chit chat about each but if there was anyone behind us in line I would've felt bad. So I think it'd be more clear if you knew what each pastry was but it also seems like they make diff pastries all the time so maybe that's why, or maybe they just like the chit chat. Would go again.

Yelp
I loved how much character the bakery had, it felt like time traveling to a simpler time. The biscuits and gravy were the best we've ever had, can't wait to come back

Ed A.

Yelp
VilleVelo is a gem. I'm tempted to not write a glowing review to avoid my favorite bakery getting too popular, but I have to do it. The best selection of fresh baked treats you can find. Definitely get the popover with crème anglais the first time, or get one every time like I do. Also don't miss the bathroom decor.

Yelp
I'm so glad this place is in my neighborhood. It's cute, it has everything I like in a bakery, and the owner makes damn good chocolate cakes. It's the type of establishment that makes Portland Portland. I almost always get a slice of quiche. He usually has two types of quiche ready on any given day. I really like the spicy sausage roles, which are really just gigantic pigs in a blanket. I order a chocolate cake every year for my birthday, and I don't even like chocolate! There is always some sort of cookies and dessert bars available, too. Be forewarned, you aren't going to find authentic croissants, salads, or the precious little desserts you might at Jinju at this place.

Yelp
Excellent experience. I really enjoyed the breakfast sandwich and the coffee was great but what I really appreciated was my interaction with both staff members. I visited with a friend who is disabled, and sometimes difficult to interact with, and the care and concern for him was perfect. They remembered what he got the last time he was there and were so patient in working with him. Impressive. Thank you.
google avatar

Yelp
The flourless individual chocolate cakes are absolutely out of this world. I recommend heating it in the microwave for 45 seconds to a minute and pairing it with vanilla ice cream. Mind blown the owner is also very adept at customer service. If there's something of theirs you like and it's not available that day he'll add it to the menu on a day that you can return. Exceptional.
google avatar

M F.

Yelp
Lovely bake shop. We had a special request that was not available, but they worked with us to make it work. Very accommodating!
google avatar

Benny R.

Yelp
The yummy treats are always delicious, and the service is always next-level. What's not to love?! I'm fortunate enough to imbibe in this shop's baked goods on a regular basis, and I'm always impressed. Also, the shop itself is really charming!

Yelp
I researched the best Bread Pudding in Portland which led me here. VilleVelo DID NOT DISAPPOINT. I purchased a piece that I took home and warmed up. (I assumed I would lose some moisture warming it making it a little dry.) After warming... It was moist, light, fluffy, custurdy, creamy sweet but not overly sweet and simply divine.

Louis b.

Yelp
This place is a hidden little gem. It is completely amazing. The coffee and espresso are amazing and the food is out of this world.
google avatar

Ricky R.

Yelp
Cute little coffee shop/bakery. The guy behind the counter, assuming owner was super nice. The coffee was good. The baked goods we have tried so far are delicious. Plus next to a great little dispensary and across from a cool plant shop. This area is awesome. This shop is fantastic. I enjoyed the vibe a lot and you could tell some people are lifers at this place. They came in and just hung out. Highly recommend this place for sure.

Yelp
Talk about a feast for the eyes as well as the body! On the morning I visited, I selected a marionberry Danish pastry with cream cheese and paired it with a latte...it was as if my body was celebrating the literal meaning of bon appetit. The owner and staff were friendly and kind. This is the kind of business that should be present everywhere: good products, good people, good decor, and most of all, good vibrations. Thank you for a wonderful food memory, Ville Velo.

Dave C.

Yelp
Just had THE most delicious brussel, cheddar, sausage quiche and olive oil cake. So much love that goes into everything I've had here. The warmest, sweetest most open environment. Like coming into a nurturing sweet home. Can't recommend highly enough!

Cynthia C.

Yelp
My family stopped in this afternoon while in the neighborhood in search of a good cookie. Oh my goodness, it is now our favorite bakery in town! Got several treats and all were delicious. The atmosphere is super cute and the staff was so so nice. Can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Fletch F.

Yelp
Best chocolate cookie in Portland! Overheard a regular of theirs talking about his top 5 chocolate cookies in town. Eaves dropped until I heard #1. VilleVelo! A dense hockey puck-sized cookie that's somehow not heavy or too sugary, and has just the right amount of chocolate. That guy wasn't kidding. It's now my favorite cookie in town. I've been in multiple times since and all three of the staff I've interacted with are super kind. Fantastic neighborhood bakery worth savoring. The Stevie Nicks and Peewee Herman decor is the frosting on top. Where's the emoji for chef's kiss?

Kristy C.

Yelp
I love the amazing baked goods, charming atmosphere, and fantastic owner! I can't believe we have not been here sooner and we continue to go back!

Yelp
I'm very happy to have discovered a new favorite spot in portland for a quick breakfast, delicious baked goods, and coffee. The business owner is incredibly kind and welcoming, and all of the employees are lovely. Very cute atmosphere, feels like a little Parisian cafe on Valentine's Day. The bathroom is very quirky and a big homage to Drew Barrymore. I also love how affordable everything is here especially these days when it's hard to find breakfast for under $12. The breakfast sandwich is only $7 and it's a very generous size. They have a wide selection of baked goods and a variety to choose from that changes each day. Everything I've tried from the pastry selection was fresh and delicious. The coffee is good too. This is becoming a regular spot for me!
google avatar

Yelp
Best bakery in Portland! My friend and I did a "bakery crawl" and made numerical ratings on several factors (taste/texture of baked goods, ambiance, service, etc.) and this bakery blew the others out of the water! Top scores all around. Jeff is so friendly and darn good at his craft. Everything we tried was incredible, perfectly balanced flavors and flawlessly moist crumb. My favorite was the marzipan danish. Make this a weekly stop, you won't regret it! Go early in the day for the best selection.
google avatar

Kirsten T.

Yelp
Friendly, delicious and moderately priced. The mushroom and goat cheese tart was the perfect breakfast!

Surina K.

Yelp
LOVE this place. It's our official birthday cake go-to spot, the owner and staff are so friendly and the cakes are just phenomenal. Selfishly want to keep them a secret but really the world should know how great they are :)
google avatar

Ofer F.

Yelp
The owner of this little gem is absolutely wonderful! We spoke with him for close to an hour when me, my partner, and a friend recently visited for the first time. And that's just icing on the cake on top of the delicious baked goods he makes. I wanted to get one of everything, it all looked so good! The items I did end up getting were delicious: breakfast sandwich on a yummy biscuit, chocolate chip cookie (this cookie was AMAZING), puff pastry filled with a yummy sweet something
google avatar

Mary R.

Yelp
A small shop filled with yummy baked goods. They had me at cream filled popover. If you like pastry cream as I do, you will enjoy this light popover filled with delicious cream. They also had biscuit sandwiches on offer and in a show of rare restraint, I didn't order one and now wish I had. Also, as others have mentioned owner and staff were very welcoming.
google avatar

Sarah S.

Yelp
Holy good gawd this place is good! The owner really has a passion for baking and it shows. He's extremely friendly and makes such amazing pastries. I drive 40 minutes to get a selection of items from him every few weeks. The treats are so worth it!!
google avatar

Tommy B.

Yelp
I love, Love, LOVE! this bakery and coffee shop. Expanding to add on the barista bar made this the perfect coffee shop for me. (I love the remodel!) The pastries are so damn good: sweet, savory, you absolutely cannot go wrong. The biscuits and gravy is delicious and filling and the breakfast biscuit sandwiches are awesome - they are big enough to share (though, they are quite substantial and it can be a bit messy to eat as a sandwich so you might want to just use a fork...) The owner is a fantastic fella and his staff is super awesome: I enjoy chatting them up each time I go in. I am so lucky to have this place in my neighborhood!

Robin F.

Yelp
Food is great, owner nice gentleman. I love this place. Biscuits are my favorite and I have to go here every visit to Portland!
google avatar

David O.

Yelp
Great experience all around. Flavor and texture profiles dialed in. Super friendly folks. Very chill ambiance inside and on the patio. We had two different tarts, a quiche, and a scone and enjoyed every bite.
google avatar

Alex M.

Yelp
Incredible fresh pastries and coffee. Get there early for the full selection. Jeff is a wonderful owner and always happy to see you; makes you feel at home

Yelp
Just made a quick stop in the middle of a Sunday afternoon. Everything I picked up was very good!
google avatar

Sonja F.

Yelp
Yes yes and more yes. This sweet little shoppe is snuck in between Kings of canna. I appreciate the uplifting French vibe and homemade touch. The owner and baker was hard at work and able to direct me. The pastries I had were arguably some of the best in Portland. The marzipan glazed almond danish and succulent chocolate cupcake. The cake was the most moist and the pink sprinkled frosting had a touch of raspberry? The ratio of frosting to cake was finally done right! Will definitely bring my friends and family here. Thank you!
google avatar

Tyler B.

Yelp
WHOA. Instant new neighborhood fav. The bakery items were delicious. Coffee was great. Jeff was delightful. He knew everyones name and order that were in line ahead and behind me. Blueberry scone and quiche were 10/10
google avatar

Danny D.

Yelp
Best bakery in town. Super yummy sweets and great savory treats. Tarts, cookies, sausages in a blanket. You name it. Oh and the biscuits and gravy. Big ass biscuits!!!
google avatar

Brian H.

Yelp
I had a wonderful Sunday morning experience here - super friendly folx, the food assortment was excellent - the peach and habanero pasty I had was just the right balance of sweetness and heat - their dirty chai is also worth a try. Finally, the space was clean, comfortable, and had a great chill vibe. High recommend.
google avatar

Chavi H.

Yelp
Best bakery, breakfast sandwiches, espresso, cakes, and so much more! We came every day we stayed in the neighborhood and feel so lucky to find this amazing place.

Yelp
Great reviews so decided to try this NE bakery. First off, it's really tiny and the parking is super tight in their parking lot. By the time we got here it was super picked over. All the baked goods had a rustic, home made look rather than a professional shop and not the appetizing. We decided just to order a scone to share with some coffee then get breakfast elsewhere due to the lack of selection and appeal. However they rang us up a muffin too and kinda made a big deal that we didn't want the muffin, just 1 large scone to share, and had to do a return. We also did not know that they did breakfast sandwiches. Many locals were coming in after us and ordering biscuit breakfast sandwiches. There's no menu and they didn't tell us about this. This was disappointing because I was hungry for a real breakfast and would have ordered a biscuit breakfast sandwich if I had known this was a an option. To be honest, the scone was really delicious but the experience was off putting and uncomfortable. It was out of my way to get here and likely won't be back.

Cynthia O.

Yelp
Outstanding baked stuff. I got a slice of lemon cake and it was pretty close to perfect. Portland bakeries can err on the side of a light but dry crumb, and this cake wasn't dry. Icing could have been a little more fluffy and buttery, but it was still really good as local buttercreams go. My friend got a couple of savory items and seemed to really enjoy them both. We both got a fancy poptart for later, and that was super tasty too - very flaky crust, very fun "poptart" filling. Definitely gonna head back here soon! Dear baker, please consider doing a coconut cream cake next and then Yelp DM me when you do, kthnx.

Daisy W.

Yelp
We tried 3 things from their menu and everything was amazing. All 3 things had the perfect texture, right amount of sweetness, not heavy at all. Felt like they were baked by someone who knows what they're doing! Will come back to try their signature chocolate cake.
google avatar

Charles B.

Yelp
VilleVelo is an amazing bakery. It has a great selection of baked goods, and they're always rotating in different pastries, cakes, and other delicious items. We love the breakfast sandwich also! The coffee they have in the new location is great as well - the espresso was very sweet. The prices are also very reasonable!
google avatar

Nicolas M.

Yelp
Oh my god this was/is the best chocolate cake I've had in my entire life. The staff is so friendly and kind, they make you feel like family. They are the sweetest. Everytime I come to Oregon I make it my priority to come here.
google avatar

Stephanie R.

Yelp
As an avid home baker and cake maker, I am super-picky about commercially- baked cakes and am often disappointed by bakery cake. My husband brought home some VilleVelo chocolate cake that was very nearly flawless. The cake was dense, moist, dark, and fudgey. The ganache was spot-on. I found the white icing to be grainy and far too sweet, but there wasn't a lot of it and I could easily scrape it off. I'm excited - and a little nervous for my waistline - to try more treats from VilleVelo! Delicious!

marsha s.

Yelp
Simply the best real pastry in the city, now also serving one of the best coffees. Get there early in the day for best selection. Breakfast tarts are nearly poetic. Worth finding on the street - best to avoid parking lot at 14 and Prescott.
google avatar

Tara W.

Yelp
Cute bake shop in Alberta Arts! The owner is so nice, and he really enjoys the art of baking! I have tried his biscuits and gravy (oober tasty), english muffins (which he so graciously toasted/buttered/& jellied for me, walnut brownie, Marion berry pastry, and rainbow rice krispie! If you're ever in the area or even far away, show this shop some love! Next door you also have Capitola coffee - fantastic lattes served in a reusable jar that you can keep or return for $1 off your next purchase!

Yelp
This bakery has been here for seven years, and I've lived in this neighborhood for three, yet it took too damn long for us to cross paths! I randomly discovered this place while picking up sushi around the corner, and as a bakery connoisseur, I couldn't believe there was a bakery nearby that I was unfamiliar with! The baked goods reflect the shop--an unpretentious small business with a relaxed feel, like you're visiting Aunt Martha for Thanksgiving. Except for Aunt Martha is actually an uncle and you have to purchase what you eat. I'll start with the quiche. I tried a slice on a whim. Why not, it's my first visit. The owner recommended the mushroom goat cheese quiche, and it was AMAZING! He says it's his favorite and I totally understand why. He does not skimp on the goat cheese, the flavors work really well together, and that almond-y crust is crumbly and fresh. No sogginess like you'd find in a lot of quiches. Next up, the cream cheese chocolate muffin--I'm a sucker for these, and the muffin was moist throughout. No sad, dry muffin bottoms here. I also tried the brownie, which was super moist--the right amount of cake-y-ness vs. fudge-y-gooey goodness. I have a slice of cake that I'll be having after dinner tonight, and I expect nothing less than excellence! This is a must-try for baked goods in Portland. Super chill, delicious, and comes with a side of great conversation if you're into it!

Yelp
Excellent chocolate cake. Maybe the best ever. Worth the $. Friendly customer service. Great local, family-owned business.

Yelp
To die for pastries and treats in a tiny, hole in the wall bake shop. Clean, comfortable table seating with ample distancing space.

Yelp
Amazing, friendly, lots of tasty treats that show the creativity and talent of the baker! Just ate the most delish quiche tart... Brussels bacon cheddar and goodness. Perfectly done. Also tasted a spoonful of the most delicious chocolate pudding I've ever tried! Yep, he just handed me a spoonful when it came up in our conversation! And popovers with Bavarian cream!? This lady is happy! Grab an excellent coffee next door... and just enjoy! This is worth standing in line for! Tho there was no line this morning at 9!
