Food is fresh, hummus flatbread had the perfect crunch. Would be awesome if they served Halal.

Google
The food was really good, but pretty expensive. The line to order food was pretty long, so I recommend using their online ordering menu and just go find a place to sit rather than waiting in line. They had options for most dietary restrictions but the options weren’t many of your diet is highly restricted. One thing that stuck out was their pizzas had an option for gluten free cauliflower crust, and vegan cheese.

Google
We sometimes love and sometimes don’t love. When the right person is working, the roasted veggie and hummus panini is amazing. Other times it’s ok. The last time it was pretty sad so considering the price, idk if we will keep risking it. Bummer, as it truly is my and my daughter’s favorite. We’ve also had the plant based burger(average) and the smoothies (decent). Sweet potato fries are good too! The salmon we had twice. Once great, once just ok. Consistency is the problem, I guess.

Google
Didn’t think it was possible to mess up breakfast tacos, but the strip of sweaty cheddar, burnt eggs and chopped microwaved sausage patty did it for me. Did I mention it was served lukewarm? No seasoning, sides or garnish. Straight to the trash.$22 breakfast disappointment, but at STJ for a meet with no other options.

Google
Nice space. A bit pricey for what it is but it’s convenient after playing in SA&A. The music is really loud in the bathrooms but normal conversational level in the restaurant.

Had the Beyond Meat burger which was properly cooked however the sauce and the fries were very much underseasoned. For $17 not great... The service was terrible! We were greeted by a hostess who was wearing black rubber gloves from cleaning tables which was rather uninviting. The food took almost 30 minutes to arrive even though it was past 8pm and only two tables were there. Overall very underwhelming experience.

Google
I ordered a Hummus and Veggie Panini for my daughter for lunch today. She loved it so much, she said it was one of the best sandwiches she had ever eaten. The fact that they cheerily checked be sure the cheese was within her dietary requirements was amazing. Also, she had an açaí bowl and loved it just as much.

Google
despite the fancy appearance and high prices this is not a sit down restaurant as you'd assume it to be it's actually more of a café like Panera Bread, there was no option for dine in as the only option is to have your food put into to go containers, the outdoor seats were dirty, the food was really not good (lemon pepper wings didn't taste like lemon nor pepper just tasted like they dumped a cup of salt on them and the price for just 8 wings is already outrageous, despite having a poké bowl on the menu there were no chopsticks, and the toppings on the Vic burger were just incredibly lackluster

Yelp
Always a pleasant experience! We are not members for the gym but our kids engage in their sports camp and teams. The facility is amazing with multiple basketball courts, ice skating rinks, golf simulator, batting cage, swimming pool, weight training, gymnastics room, and their indoor football field turf. The staff is helpful and the coaches are very knowledgeable! They have a bar/restaurant convenient to sit and wait while your kids are in practice. Pricey but you are getting what you are paying for in terms of facility and staff. Overall a great place for sports! Enjoy!

Yelp
Coming from D.C. where land is limited, The Saint James is worth the drive for the sheer size of it. An expensive gym facility, the price may be worth it for their three level gym, two ice skating rinks, a water park, fields, courts, a kid area, and cafe. Friends who are members invited us to come using their guest passes one Saturday afternoon to use the indoor water park. My seven-year-old loved it. They also have a ninja course, ropes areas, and more for kids. There's parking, but sometimes it can be hard to find a space on weekends. It's a popular place!

Usamah N.

Yelp
St James has everything you need with the membership from free HITT classes, turf, 3 floors of gym, heated pool, etc Really excited for the cold plunge that should be opening in the next few months as well. The staff is always on top of things and they're always cleaning up Abbas making sure the gym looks great! Worth the membership Only downside is the weekends, there's always a tournament going on which attracts 100s of kids but I've never had an issue parking in the members only area and the actual gym isn't full either so I don't have any complaints there

Mark O.

Yelp
I went to The St James recently to watch a couple games during their MLK basketball tournament. The facilities are very well kept. There are two turf fields, two basketball courts, one ice hockey ring and multiple other facilities. They even have a dining area and a shoe store. This review is solely for the food. I got a Açaí bowl and chicken tenders with fries. The prices seemed a bit high to me but the portion sizes were good. The quality of the food was good as well. I was actually pretty surprised to be honest. Never I'd get a book by its cover.

Yelp
AJ Hill Provided the Best Customer Service A few weeks ago I experienced an issue in the women's locker room. I waited a while before writing this post because I wanted to give management the opportunity to post the policy in the women's locker room, newsletter, and or signage. We both agreed on the following: It is necessary for members to understand the following: Outdoor shoes are not allowed in the sauna or steam room. A male child is not allowed in the women's locker room Female child is not allowed in a males locker room. Note: The gym has a family changing area Towels should not be left in the steam room or sauna after use. While changing my clothes a 7 year old boy with his mom stands next to me while I am naked. That is highly inappropriate and mom should know better. I made AJ (management) aware of my concern. Right away, he understood my frustrations. I appreciate his customer service and willingness to resolve the issue. Even though he did not create the problem, he was empathetic and his apology was sincere. Kudos to AJ Hill!

Yelp
Came here for a basketball tournament with my younger cousins while their parents were out of town. I had no idea what type of facility we were going to so I was greatly surprised! The space is massive, with a basketball, hockey, football/soccer, and swim space. On top of that, it is a full service gym with a spa and food court, along with a children's play area and water park . There is literally something for everyone! The food court is a bit pricey, but expected in this area. Would definitely come back to experience the water park!

Yelp
I signed my kids up for the super awesome and amazing summer camp. The camp promised a variety of activities every day. I was willing to pay the premium for the camp (it's more expensive than other camps) because they promised a water slide, ice rink, rock climbing, etc. Out of the 30 hours of activities I expected, the kids only got one hour on the ice rink, 2 hours on the basketball court doing dodgeball and 2 hours doing a nerf battle. The remaining 25 hours of activity involved unstructured activities (i.e. the kids play by themselves) on the indoor field monitored by bored teenagers looking at their phone. It was a bait and switch. Don't sign your kids up for this camp, it was a waste of their time, your time and your money. Other items of note. Customer service is nonsenscial and basically ignored me. When I sent an email complaining about the camp the response was essentally 'maybe your kids are too old for the camp'. Two responses to that, first my kids being too old is not a good reason for promising one thing and delivering the opposite. Second, I signed my kids up based on what the age group advertised. If my kids were too old then stop accepting kids that age into the camp. My kids thought the provided lunch was ok. They fed the kids under a tent outside during some of the hottest days of the year, so some of the food essentially liquidfied. The carpool pickup line was a disaster. They have so many kids and they have to go from the inside field to the car and that can take a couple of minutes. When you only have 4 cars picking up at one time with the long walk, the line was ridiculously slow. I waited about 40 minutes in the line before I left. I ended up parking in the lot and picking my kids up in person, much faster. The drop off line in the morning was actually convenient and the highlight of the entire camp.

Yelp
Enormous and very attractive multi sports complex, to include two separate competition level swimming pools. Super well staffed, to include valet parking during sports events. It's in a somewhat industrial area of Springfield, and parking is generally not an issue as people float in and out. They also have a really nice spa, and an athletic apparel store on site. And... are you ready for this? A full size soccer field inside the complex! Don't care about soccer and ice is your thing? Then head for the ice rink!

Lindsey B.

Yelp
I joined the St. James believing I would attend a high end gym and have a great experience; unlike the others that are much cheaper. I was wrong. Don't get me wrong, The facility itself is really nice. However it's SOME of the staff including one of the managers; Eric, that made it uncomfortable. I went to Eric with a concern about one of his male staff members months ago, and he was dismissive. I then had another situation happen with a very rude female staff. When I went to express concern to Eric (as that is my right as a paying member), he then deflected and told me" Since you have issue with staff I'll cancel the membership!" That was shocking and extreme. There's no accountability. Instead I'm retaliated against. My membership and voice doesn't seem to matter. Sucks there's no HR department. For what I paid I just thought I would receive better customer service. Instead I've gotten dirty looks and rude treatment. Nobody has followed up about the issue or a refund for the month I paid for! This place doesn't seem to care about retaining their individual members or fixing the bigger issue.

Laura W.

Yelp
Full disclosure: I probably could not afford a membership here, but the activities offered are open to all. Also, my kids are too young for any activities beyond the interactive waterpark, so this is just a review of the interactive water park. The water park is really awesome for young kids to middle school age. There are a few different waterslides, including a set of smaller ones that my 3 year old had a blast on. There are lots of dump buckets and sprayers; it's pretty hard to stay dry. In fact, I found the singular spot that seemed to be dry and snuck my iphone there so it'd stay dry and I didn't have to carry it around anymore. The waterpark is only open Saturday and Sunday 10am-6pm. Cost is $20 for two hours; however, no one was actually checking if people left at the two hour mark. This is a unique experience that will be a good resource in the winter; we will be back!

Yelp
We came here yesterday for a kid's birthday party. We had no idea a place of this magnitude existed near us until now! It's very big, very impressive, and kind of overwhelming. The weather was very cold and rainy yesterday but the place was super PACKED. It was so busy that we couldn't find parking and kept circling the lot for about 25 minutes. The kids area had A LOT of people and birthday parties going on. The party host seems somewhat inexperienced or maybe it's just that the place was so busy so they were short staffed. Overall, my kids had fun. We might come back to check out the water park next time!

Danielle G.

Yelp
I visited the facility for a birthday party on their SAA space and the water park. I was Impressed pulling into the parking lot. I was blown away walking through the facility. I was sold by the end of my time there! I wanted to stay and enjoy any and everything. I wish the facility was closer and membership information was available at the front desk or online. I HIGHLY recommend and will be back any chance I can.

John L.

Yelp
Heard a lot about this place but this was my first time visiting. It's a massive sports oasis! There seems to be a full gym as well as space for every sport here (indoor basketball, volleyball, ice hockey, soccer, baseball, golf, and probably a few more. Items ultra modern and gives participants and their spectators great access. There are plenty of tables and seats to watch the action. This place may just be 2 years old, but is busy! Jump in on the action at St. James!!

I Review Y.

Yelp
A lot of hype and a lot of potential, but we were so disappointed with our overall experience. It's a very nice facility with lots of variety...if you can get availability. It's almost always overrun with parties and leagues. It ran from clean and fresh to moldy, dirty and mildewy over the few years we belonged. There was no consistency. Same with the staff. From front desk to sales to other support staff, some were great, many were not. For the premium price and sales pitch, it wasn't worth getting there, parking, battling the crowds and having an average or less-than-average experience. There are other sports and wellness brands popping up in NoVA who are giving them a run for their money. The other places don't have the ice rinks and indoor fields, but so what. You can't use the ones at the St James most of the time, anyway!

JD C.

Yelp
Traditionally, sports complex facilities are boring, but not at the St. James. The St. James is co-owned by two black men with facilities across the US. The Springfield location has indoor soccer, indoor basketball, a spa, an elite sportswear clothing store, a fitness gym and casual dining. Specifically, I stopped into Strivers (sportswear store) and they carried some of the most sought after sneakers - Jordan's, Nikes, Yeezys to name a few. Additionally, I ate in the eatery; they served sandwiches, fries, salads, smoothies, etc. The eatery also had indoor/outdoor seating, flat screen televisions and a bar. This place is the ultimate sports complex that I wish I experienced as a youngster. Even as an adult, I can't wait to go back.

Sean O.

Yelp
The facility is nice, but the people in charge of it straight up do NOT care. Case in point- I play in their adult hockey league and am done with it as the manager of the league, Tanner Jones, could not give less effort in being in charge of it. He makes a schedule that includes games on days when the rink isn't actually available (ie- a youth tournament is booked for that same time, or it's literally Christmas day, New Year's Day, etc), then has to scramble and cancel/re-schedule at the last minute. This happens multiple times a season. The refs he finds to officiate the games are often clueless and occasionally high as a kite while on the ice. The St James also has different leagues based on skill level but that's a farce. Guys who belong in the B level often play in the D league. We had a former ECHL player on a roster in the D league this season and he did absolutely nothing about it. Complaints always fall on deaf ears. His attitude is emblematic of the majority of the management as well. They seem to think because the facility is very nice, which it is, that they can basically let that speak for itself.

Yelp
Overrated, not enough parking, my son played hockey here 1 season so un organized for what they are charging

Brooke T.

Yelp
I had no idea what to expect coming here as I have never heard of this location before. I came here for a child's birthday party. Walking in I was surprised because it was nothing of what I expected. The St. James' set up is so much that everything you need can be done here, from working out, grabbing a bite to getting a massage afterwards. All of the sporting areas appeared to be full size to me. From the football, swimming and ice rink. I was most jazzed about the area where my nephew had his party. There was a climbing wall, a small trampoline area, and a maze where kids can shoot it out with nerf guns! The kids were provided with socks and wrist bands and served pizza and chicken tenders. A good way to tire your loss out before they go home!

Sandy S.

Yelp
Tried to book a birthday party here for my child a few months ago and was in contact with the event coordinator, Violeta Arteaga even spoke with her on the phone with questions about how booking birthday parties work. She was minimally helpful on the phone and after a few back and forth emails, she never responded to my last two when I replied with I wanted to move forward and book. Their loss.

Daniel B.

Yelp
Is it a premium gym? Yes. Is it more than your standard corner gym? Yes. But does it provide more value than just some machines, weights, and occasional classes? Yes. Calling the St. James a gym is not even close, it is a compound that has amazing facilities, offerings, while still providing the basic and expected gym features (and even going above what you even expect on that front). If you do join, do try everything from swimming, to rock climbing, to golf, to the gym. Also try the classes, the instructors I have had so far have been excellent!

Jessica L.

Yelp
We went for the kids climbing gym and it was definitely fun. All of us (2 kids & 2 parents) paid to climb. Honestly I'd let the kids go and not pay for the adults next time. That said, they had a great time and 2 hours was just right - they were tuckering out and getting bored by that point. It's challenging enough for a 10-12 yr old not to get bored but perfect for a 4-7year old too. I'd go back.

Stacy H.

Yelp
This place is huge. It has facilities for pretty much any sport plus workout facilities. It is kid team sportsplooza on the weekends. I enjoyed the golf simulator with my group. Parking can be challenging at this place. It's nice but I don't think I'll be a frequent user.

Sabrina A.

Yelp
My husband and I wanted to try the rock wall at the St. James. So I called to confirm that someone is always at the rock wall to belay people. After I got confirmation, I hired a babysitter, and we made the trek out to the St. James. We bought tickets for the rock wall, but no one was there. We waited for a bit and then went back to the front desk to ask what was up. A worker came down with us to check, and indeed the rock wall staff person wasn't there. The front desk person was very kind, and we got a refund, but it was still very disappointing.

Leah Y.

Yelp
I joined in January with a friend. It's a very nice facility but it was difficult to even get them to answer a phone or e-mail to tour. Eventually I showed up and demanded a tour and Carolyn helped me. She was absolutely amazing and the sole reason I joined this location (I planned on only joining Reston for the founders' rate). What I like: I enjoy the little carry out restaurant. I really enjoy bootcamp and my monthly guest pass perks. I also went to the spa for a wax-- (separate review but I will probably not go back because they double dipped with wax sticks which is unsanitary.) The trainers seem very competent but very expensive. I was quoted a rate of $1300/month. For reference, I paid $75/session a month for a private trainer in a private workout space so at over $100/session I opted out. This gym is very expensive but it's less a gym than it is a complex for children and sports leagues with the gym being the after thought. If you go on the weekend you even have to wait for the teenagers to get done with the weights before you can use them. I get so many e-mails about programs-- for kids. There's even a flag football league-- for kids. What about the adults? Their fitness class offerings are sparse. I pay a hefty sum monthly but still also pay to go to Solidcore because the only times the trainers can do Pilates Reformer is at strange times midday where no working person can go. I am a previous member of VIDA and I was expecting something similar in terms of variety. Lots of room for improvement but this is absolutely not a gym but a sports complex with a training facility as an afterthought. I am looking forward to the Reston location's opening so that I can evaluate how to proceed when my contract has completed.

Andreas I.

Yelp
I have done 2 tournaments at this location. Terrible. Kids are running the clock and the Referees are clearly not educated enough to run tournaments. I travel all over the east coast and by far this place is just a circus thin only cares about the bottom line, and definitely not the kids. Pulling our kids out from tournaments at this location.

Yelp
Tuesday night my daughter attended a all night grad party. Sponsored by South County High School paid for by each Senior in attendance. This was held from 9pm until 5am. I thought great togetherness also a safe idea of celebration for our young adults. However proven not to be accommodating for my daughter. First upon arrival my daughter was searched and had her deodorant taken also insinuated upon for having alcohol in a water bottle. Then she found many of facility activities not available to them. Also what was available were rooms very hot, and uncomfortable. Therefore my daughter drank a lot of water. Around 4:30 am she had to use the bathroom and was told " no". From the security and the police officers on duty. My problem is with The St. James if they weren't going to allow proper facility bathroom availability the "lock in" shouldn't have happened. I will pursue this further. Concerned Parent

Lauren O.

Yelp
I recently became a member and am excited to use the facilities, but the initial experience left room for improvement. Connecting with the sales staff was challenging, leading to frustration with unanswered calls and long hold times. Considering the limited sales team, exploring a more efficient outsourcing strategy could enhance customer communication. During the in-person sign-up, I noticed a lack of proactive engagement and amenities. Providing water or refreshments in the office, along with attentive sales assistance, would significantly improve the first impression. Taking inspiration from Equinox's pre-sales approach, emphasizing customer experience from the start is crucial. The onboarding process could use enhancement. An informative email outlining the app and activation process would help ease confusion. Currently, there's a lack of support or clarity on assistance availability. Improving onboarding is essential for a seamless integration into the system. This feedback aims to contribute to a better pre-sale and onboarding experience. I believe there's room for improvement, especially when compared to lower-tiered gyms. Additionally, implementing a scanning fob for member-restricted areas could enhance security. Hiring college staff for high-risk areas could also contribute to a more mature approach. Drawing from my experience leading top-notch employee experiences in a billion-dollar company, I see the potential for heightened customer satisfaction with refinement in these areas.

Tanar W.

Yelp
Personally, not a fan of the Saint James. This establishment is ginormous. My first time I asked multiple employees on how to get to the pool and each one gave me a different direction. By the time I got to the pool I had walked just about half the establishment. The locker room was not very clean and when I informed the staff, they redirected me to inform another staff member. I brought two children to go to the waterpark, which was very nice however very small so within 20 minutes you're pretty much ready to go. In addition you're not allowed to go in the lap pool without a membership so for me a little overpriced just for a quick run around in the water park. Maybe I'll have to give them another try but due to my first time experience not to quick to want to return.

Michellelynette H.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic workout and post recovery supplements available. Personal trainers are warm, welcoming and dedicated to your success.

Dirck H.

Yelp
Just a quick note to thank you and your awesome staff. Tara is phenomenal at making guests feel welcome. Jeff met my AV needs without making me feel like a Luddite. I didn't catch the names of the 2 blonde ladies who along with Eric secured my tuxedo until a came back later and used the Members' Locker room. The young men and women at the lobby and gym entrances were all equally pleasant and welcoming. Superlative service is so rare that when I experience it I am compelled to amplify it. Thanks

JOHN H.

Yelp
"If and when available" let's be very clear. Even the manager of this place now admits you the PAYING MEMBER Is now secondary to every other possible money making scheme they can come up with. The courts are only available if they haven't rented them to someone else. The pool is only available if it isn't rented to someone else. You are paying 165 dollars a month and you don't get to use the basketball courts or the pool when you want to. This is a SCAM of EPIC proportions. I literally cannot believe this place isn't being sued. You want specifics... Saturday morning November 10. The entire gym facility is off limits because they have rented the entire facility to a basketball tournament. They didn't even set aside one court. Not even ONE court for PAYING MEMBERS on a SATURDAY. That pretty much is all you need to know about the priorities of the st. James.

Chris H.

Yelp
Rude staff. Facilities are new and flashy, but without quality customer service it's just not worth it. Not to be trusted, and that's crucial in business.

AK ..

Yelp
Such a FUN place! We LOVE it! Everything is GREAT: instructors, classes, staff, workout equipment, facilities, store, café, ... everything is super clean and well maintained.

Stacy M.

Yelp
All around sports multiplex you just have to come see it for yourself. State of the art and modern throughout. They offer great sports programs. The super fun amazing climbing and virtual gaming area is such a good time for kids of all ages. They often feature specials on Groupon for discounted day spaces. Their gym is expansive. While it's on the higher end it's well worth everything the facility has to offer.

Christopher James D.

Yelp
Great place if you want to pay a ridiculous amount of money to work out with adults--yet have to compete with 60 children under the age of 17. All while the 'gym' uses your space for their school-age children programs. Meaning, don't ever expect to get to half the equipment they show you on your tour. Why? Because the gym uses the space that you're renting and paying for access to--for disrespectful and distracting children in the same space. Not in classrooms, but in the main spaces at the gym. So, you don't get to use the equipment you are paying to be able to use. If you're an adult, skip membership here. NOTE: You also have to deal with rude an inconsiderate behavior. The locker room is tossed apart every time they have large groups in. No towels. Unless you're looking for one on the floor in the locker room. Plenty of those.

Sarah D.

Yelp
I signed up my child for summer camp here. Based on the lack of communication from the staff there regarding my emailed questions for the past month, I wish I could get a refund but I can't. A business that caters to children and is awful in responding to questions from parents says a lot about them. Their confirmation email that confirmed my child's summer camp registration include one email address for questions (info@thestjames.com). For about a month, I contacted them with questions about the camp. No one ever responded. So, I searched for a different email address on their website. I emailed that new email address and the person replies that info@thestjames.com email address is not for the camp. Even if their general email address is not for their camp, someone should reply. It's ludicrous. Why would they include the general email address in the confirmation email for summer camp if that email address has no connection to their camp. I've dealt with another summer camp that had awful communication and summer camp was disorganized. I should've read the reviews DC urbanmom but didn't think to look up reviews because I Just heard great things about St James (but not specifically the summer camp). Also, I should've read the Yelp reviews about their summer camp because a few of the reviewers who had a negative experience specifically said that the camp is awful with communication. How does this place charge sooo much when it has absymal customer service especially on matters that concern children.

Yelp
A couple things 1. This place needs more machines for lifting more variety cause I was kind of disappointed when I came to work out. 2. Pool is nice.. HUGE.. the water park is so cute so many kids love it. 3. It's very fancy, nice, spacious but can again definitely add more machines for lifting, cardio etc 4. The road to enter the gym is so dangerous I almost died not over exaggerating at all when I was leaving.. people speed and I got hit people block the road on the sides it's impossible to see 5. The staff here is nice, one front lady was rude looking at you all funny up and down I felt uncomfortable for a second but other than that everyone else is nice. 6. Now.. SOME (not all) people here (members) make me feel really out of place.. giving entitlement and " I was the middle school/high school bully" "I have more money than you so get out of my way, stuck up" vibes just witnessing how they look at other people and talk to staff (lots of attitude and eye rolling, snarky comments about their bank accounts) Example: "this is a nice place but I can afford it easily. I bet your glad you work here and get a free membership cause you don't look like you could afford it" They are human beings who are literally just working there to put food on the table, pay bills like every other person. Finally, I like this place ofcourse there Can be improvement here and there. I recommend.

Yelp
Highly recommend the St James gym. Its a one stop shop. Helpful and friendly staff. Variety of equipment weights and machines. On-site trainers. On-site healthy snacks. Good AC system - which is ideal after a hard workout. And as one of the coaches for the volleyball program, the resources, equipment, training and support is top notch.

Yelp
The St. James is off the beaten path, but once you find it, it's huge! They have so many things to do there, we've mostly gone for birthday parties. My only issue with the St. James is they're pretty pricey.

Yelp
Reading the rest of the reviews here, I knew three things when I joined St James: 1) this is a great gym 2) the onboarding personnel will lie about anything to get you in the door 3) the system will absolutely not let you cancel once it has its hooks in you Knowing these things, I opted to pay one lump sum in an attempt to avoid the kafkaesque nightmare that is cancellation. Still, and despite my explicit request, a card was left on file and I was erroneously charged, a second account was erroneously created, and upon leaving, I pleaded with the service department to remove my card from the file and they did not. I ended up freezing my card permanently and using a different card for everything. I called today to yet again try to get the erroneous charge reversed and was told I apparently have not one but two accounts-- this after having allegedly cancelled my account 3 months ago. In checking my frozen card statement, sure enough, a $270 unsuccessful charge attempt. I clocked multiple calls and a sum total of four hours on the phone (holding, transferring, escalating) to finally get the money they stole back. That said, it really is a great gym, and if they offered a way to pay $135 in cash once a month, I would recommend it.

Yelp
I have always appreciated the affordability of this establishment in comparison to pricier alternatives like Equinox. However, my recent experience regarding my membership cancellation left me with some concerns that I believe need to be addressed for the benefit of potential new members. The crux of my dissatisfaction revolves around the parking facilities, which I found less than ideal, and this did influence my overall gym-going experience. I communicated my decision to cancel my membership to Sajag, the membership experience representative, adhering strictly to the stated cancellation protocol. Regrettably, Sajag was unavailable at the time, and my correspondence was taken up by Matt, the general manager. I explained my situation in detail to Matt and believed my cancellation request was clearly communicated and understood. To my surprise, I was billed for another month. In response, I reached out again via email, only to have Sajag respond, seemingly unaware of my previous conversations with Matt. After forwarding the prior email chain, I received no further communication. I visited the gym personally to resolve the issue, and the front desk confirmed my membership cancellation, promising that Sajag would reach out to me. Unfortunately, after several missed calls and unresponsive emails, I finally got a hold of Sajag only to learn that my membership was still active due to an unprocessed Google form. Despite my numerous emails explicitly stating my wish to cancel my membership, Sajag insisted that the Google form was essential. I was assured that my membership would finally be cancelled, but I was disappointed to learn that I would not be eligible for a refund of $235. This experience has unfortunately soured my perception of the gym. It was a journey that felt unnecessarily complicated and frustrating, especially considering the clear communication provided about my intentions to cancel. I believe potential new members would greatly benefit if the gym could improve its communication channels and streamline its cancellation process. If this process were more straightforward and customer-centric, I would likely have considered returning in the future. However, with the current experience, I find myself leaning more towards pricier options like Equinox for their reputed customer service. This feedback is provided in the hope that improvements can be made to enhance the overall customer experience.

Yelp
So expensive and so empty. They say "you pay for the exclusivity" which is why it's empty. I guess. There were maybe 20 total people working out when I took a tour around The St. James. They have huge fields and courts; personal trainers; a fancy and expensive clothing/shoe store; a spa with reasonable prices for manis, pedis, and massages; a pool; two huge skating rinks; ballet/dance rooms; indoor golfing; and a bar/cafe/restaurant. However, I think the main attraction for some is that Kevin Durant's dad works here (owns the place?). I asked my tour guide how often his dad works there and she said quite often. I asked how often Kevin Durant comes by and she said once in a while. I don't know. I wasn't convinced enough to pay $110-120 a month for The St. James. I guess I didn't like how dead it was when I went. It's not very motivating. I also didn't really like my tour guide's standoffish-ness. She also kept checking her phone or texting while giving me a tour and responding late to my questions.

Yelp
We love The St James summer camps! We did three this summer: Wizards basketball, Adventure and Gaming, and The three-day swim. Our son raves about the counselors, and enjoyed making friends in a fun and safe environment. His favorite was the adventure and gaming camp. A healthy balance between physical activity and video games. A win-win for parents and kids... My only hope is that they adopt the practice of sending parents photos of their campers. The capability is on the app, but it wasn't used. Can't wait to sign up for next year!

Yelp
Update 2 years later. Facility is 5 but sales manager Brittney is terrible. If you want to join I advise to ask "Carissa"

Yelp
OMG! Okay, read the reviews but let's face it, this is a top notch place. You're coming here daily if you're rich or famous. Hands down. The trickle of people that come are for parties and/or group events. I'm not sure what this place intended to be. I can definitely see the exclusivity of this place. However, I'm not sure the location is right. I absolutely love this gym and if I lived in VA, I'd be all in. But it's in VA, in Springfield. It's in the cut. Not easy to get to. Other than being in a weird spot, the place is drop dead gorgeous. The staff, I'll admit, they were too consumed with themselves. They all talk amongst each other. If I were running the St. James, I would make it clear that if a staff saw a patron, you immediately greet and say hello! This is your Million Dollar Facility, make your staff acknowledge everyone who comes in your house. We are the guests. I felt like I was an uninvited guest just by the service. I had to ask about the place. Should have been the other way around. Sometimes I wish I could give a class to owners on the culture they have to set with employees. Not every one believes in The St. James and it's their own employees who aren't sold. Its not the employees who are at fault, that culture sense comes from the top. Your managers all have to believe in what you made. Those managers have to be the best customer service people out there. Customer service is what is going to drive this place. Make it or literally break it. You can't teach genuine customer service. I literally saw nothing of the short. On to the food! I tried the food and it was delicious. The house salad came with dressing mixed in and I don't eat salads with dressing but I ate it. I hope this place does well! Kudos to the owner for making this! Athletes Rock!

Yelp
We've been going to the St James for years -recommended it to many family/friends/neighbors and school. We were unofficial ambassadors. Lots of memberships between us. Then one year our child did a camp there - got injured by camp counselor - no report or contact. Follow up response was abysmal/unresponsive. Apparently others feel similarly in reviews with one person calling it dangerous camp. It's a huge facility - wish they cared or had a basic level of professionalism at a minimum. Never again. 2 other parents have shared with me, similar experiences of incompetence and neglect. Good thing this was not the 5 yr old twins. Of course YMMV.

Yelp
I've been going to The St. James (or just "The James" as my friends and I call it) for a few months now. I had obsessively read reviews because I'm always nervous about fine print and user reviews from gyms. I've been a member of so many different gyms in the area (Golds, Xsport, Planet Fitness, Lifetime in Fairfax, OTF) and The James is certainly a league of their own (ha ha sports movie reference...ok anyway) I think my biggest concern was the parking. I get that I joined mid (not early) pandemic so they aren't at full capacity, but I've never had an issue with parking. I tend to go either early in the morning, or 3pm, since my schedule allows for that, and it's not a busy time. I can see how once they start operating at full capacity on the weekends, how parking could be a challenge but thankfully I haven't had to deal with that. Price - I do think at first I had a bit of "sticker shock" since $170/month ain't cheap. But what you get for that amount does make it feel worth it. I suggest getting a free tour to see all of the amenities that The James has to offer. PS this gym is CLLEEEEEEEEEAN. They clean almost obsessively (in a good way, especially during covid) I hope they keep that up even when this is "all over" because I really appreciate how spotless it is. I always feel safe. Overall - pricey, but easily worth it. PS in case they read this: you really need a jacobs ladder. How do you not have a jacobs ladder.

Yelp
I'll give it to them, this place is visually pleasing all around. Interested in what all the hype was about I dropped in for a self guided tour. The ladies at the front desk were nice after asking a few questions equivalent to an interrogation. Total turn off. I had to ask if I could view the facility and was given the impression I could not do so if I did not have an appointment. Kinda odd but okay. Another lady came up and asked if I had been helped and if I was interested in a guided tour. I advised that a guided tour was not necessary, since I really just wanted to look around and see if anything spoke to me as I did so. She advised that was okay after I filled out a visitor information sheet and given the run down of the areas I could not go into because they were got members only. I was not feeling that customer service at all at this point. The facility is huge but also very well kept. It was virtually spotless and hopefully it remains that way. The amenities offered are vast to accompany the large facility. In addition to the standard things you expect from a sports complex there is an indoor watermark, rock climbing walls as wells a cafe upfront as you walk in with not only bites but also what looked like a full size bar too! Plus for the pare ya who need an adult sized tone out while waiting on the kiddos. Bathrooms are spaciously located throughout the facility as well. I was not there long enough to get the full run down on costs of membership and all but I can only imagine!!! However, the facility itself is absolutely beautiful!!!!
