Good Luck Wine Shop - Review - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Not many wine shops in town have an in-house brand, but that’s just one of the ways Good Luck Wine Shop in Pasadena separates itself from other spots. Their Vin de California winery is in the back of the shop, and they sell the bottles out front. They’ve also got a bunch of other bottles of natural and small-production wines from all over the world - all handpicked by the couple that run both the shop and the winery. Order online for pick-up or free local delivery. In-store shopping also available. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

Google
I could rave on and on about how great Good Luck is. Kate and Adam have a great setup going here with both (extremely) locally made wines through Vin de California, and also have a huge range of imported wines as well. The staff is always super helpful and pleasant to work with and the events they host are top notch.

Google
Great, unique wines with friendly staff. I know nothing about wine but wanted to be fancy and layout some bottles for a summer dinner. They gave some great recommendations so I went back again and again. Now we're wine club members. It's a very friendly laid back vibe, low pressure for people like me who can only describe what they like in unsophisticated lingo

Google
Kate and Adam and the rest of the Good Luck/Vin de California family are quite simply the greatest. Good Luck always has a diverse stock of natural and low-intervention wines and all staff are super friendly and knowledgeable about the wines they sell (and make!)! Whether you are a natty wine fanatic or just getting into the scene, Kate and Adam are always so happy to recommend wines that best suit your taste. Truly I cannot praise this shop enough ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Google

Yelp
COVID-19: Social distancing is not enforced at this establishment. Some of the staff wears a mask. All customers are not expected to wear a mask. It's optional now. Some of the staff also wears gloves. There are some hand sanitizers available for customers to use. This place is open and available with no limited capacity. They are not sanitizing in between customers. COVID-19 Vaccination Proof: This establishment currently does not require proof of vaccination. While I was grabbing some wine from this establishment several days ago, I asked if they had any special offers and they weren't offering any at the moment. They currently don't have happy hour. They also do not allow pets in their establishment including service animal. Parking: The parking lot for this establishment is nonexistent. Street parking only. Staff: The store itself is clean, organized, and tidy. The staff here are very friendly and knowledgeable. They accept both cash and credit cards. There is no credit card minimum.

Yelp
Very cute spot, we came here for an event with a pop up burger stand so I can't say I've tried all the wines but I'd like to come back and do a tasting. Their shop next door is very cute, I do wish someone would've asked what sort of wine I was looking for, it was intimidating, I'm not that saavy with natural wines.

Yelp
What a true gem of an establishment. The whole presentation is a true master piece. Straight to point! Fantastic service and knowledge of Natural Wine! Don't be afraid to ask, Adam and Kate know what they are doing, and the are doing it damn well. From Reds, to whites, oranges, sparkling, rosatos, to your favorite rosé. You name it! This is a natural wine store for the ages! You will and can never go wrong, picking up 1 maybe 2 maybe 4 or even 6 bottles. I know that escalated quickly, thats call true love. Adam and Kate are real pioneers in their craft. I praise people like this who not only appreciate a form of art but they know how to execute it all. Especially during COVID. Toughest times in our lifetime and yet we can get buzzed like it's 2019 pre covid! Just asking them about a certain vino and getting the back story behind a producer is just spectacular. I love it. The past couple times we have visited after discovering this amazing gem, I have never left disappointed. Never. The knowledge is outstanding with Adam and Kate, so much fun just listening to how they describe any specific bottle. True passion. I can't appreciate that anymore. Thanks for coming into the neighborhood and showing people what's up! Natural wine is the way to go, and you will never find quality and proper pricing the way they do it. To top it off they are wine makers as well and till today I wanna say their own creation, Cinzento (from what I remember is dunzo!) had to be one of the best wines I have ever had. Small batch is the way to go, and always, always, always support your local small business! Parking is easy right in the front and you're never gonna have an issue waiting long to enter. They respect Covid rules which makes me respect them even more! So patience is a virtue, just hang out side till either the store is empty or just wait till you're greeted to come in. Remember we're in a pandemic and we are all in this to win this. See y'all soon!!

Yelp
Natural wine in East Pasadena!!!!! I am absolutely here for it. I discovered Good Luck Wine Shop before the brick and mortar shop even opened, when they were doing wine deliveries around Pasadena. I was lucky enough to meet the owner, Kate, back in May when she hand delivered me a bottle I ordered from their website and was happy to see her again (along with her awesome husband and son) in the shop last night. The shop is perfect: one whole wall with a fabulously curated selection of wine, beautiful wood elements, and some accessories and wine books. Kate gave me some fantastic recommendations (one so good that I drank an entire bottle alone during election night) and let me know they'll eventually be expanding toward the back to offer some housewares and a tasting room. It's worth noting that the owners of GLWS also make their own wine onsite (Vin De California) and will be selling it in the shop soon. Parking was easy right out front on the street and if you're not wanting to leave the house, they're still offering wine delivery via their website ($55 minimum order, free in Pasadena, Altadena, San Marino, and South Pas and $5 for areas in a five mile radius of Pasadena). In a tough and a divisive year, I'll leave you with a hopeful statement from the GLWS website: "Good Luck Wine Shop is a space for everyone and does not discriminate based on race, sex, gender expression, sexual orientation, legal status, age, religion, or disability. We are committed to contributing and giving back to our community and a percentage of sales each month are donated to youth programs, mental health organizations, and legal funds." Eastsiders, check this place out!

Yelp
Awesome owners and wide range of natural wines. It's hard to come by with a shop with natural wine, so I'm glad I found this. Lots of fun and experimental wine! Price is in the $20-$30s Street parking only (I believe), but I usually don't have trouble finding.

Yelp
My absolute favorite go-to wine shop, a destination unto itself. I schlep all the way into Pasadena to re-up on my natty wines, my favorite of which are made by the owners of this shop and carried exclusively therein. Odysseée tastes like tonic water-cranberry-orange, a mocktail my grandpa made me when I was a youngin. And the Cara Cara is unexpectedly dry, but ripe with flavors of Japanese muscat gummies and pink guava. The whole staff is adorable and so knowledgeable and have yet to steer me wrong. It's one of those local businesses you feel great supporting AND you're obsessed with the product and the people. A win on all fronts.

Yelp
Chock full of tasty local and international environmentally friendly wines. Definitely the best winery in all of Pasadena. Their wines have few ingredients. Did you know wineries and bottlers can add antifreeze, egg whites and all sorts of things to wine and the do not have to disclose it on the label? None of that at this place. Warning if your a 2buck chuck aficionado Trader Joe's is around the corner, don't go in here. Husband and wife with their dog are there most days. The person on Sundays and other days knows her stuff just as well as the couple. Happy happy hunting.

Yelp
Kate was amazing in my guided wine tour and selection, which was bountiful and amazing. She humored my relatively uneducated palate, and I walked away feeling more refined in my approach to choosing my wine. The space was charming with a hint of underground New York and a welcoming neighborly vibe. I will return for sure and I will definitely recommend to friends and family. This is where you want to purchase your wine. You'll feel right at home. Looking forward to the opening of the wine tasting area! Cheers

Yelp
Hurray for this adorable neighborhood wine shop. I don't profess to be an expert on wines but Kate, the shop owner, was kind enough to share her enthusiasm and know how of their very specially curated selection of whites, oranges, and reds. While modest in size, the shop contains more than enough beautifully labeled wines to catch your eye and excite you to come back for more. In addition to the front area which holds the wines, there is a mid section of gift and homeware offerings, as well as the back of the building that contains the owners' very own winery operation. I have yet to try the bottle of their own brand's Arrakis that I picked up today, but was tickled by the reference to Frank Herbert's Dune. Amidst this difficult year, it's hard not to be inspired by small business owners who continue to hustle and pour hard work and love into keeping their livelihoods going. Wishing Kate and her husband all the luck with their shop, they definitely have a new fan here with me.

Yelp
Love love love this natural wine shop! You have to try their house brand VDC (vin de California) as well as all the other lovely brands from independent wine makers. So glad I have this store close by. I still have to go to one of their tasting events where they just pour by the glass.

Yelp
Wonderful little natural wine shop in Pasadena!! Kate was so friendly and helpful in picking out our wines. We had a bottle already (one of her recommendations!) and it was great.

Yelp
What a local gem! This small shop has an amazing selection of wines and ciders. They have two of their own wines (if you walk to the back of the store and look to the left, you can even see the barrels aging off stage. You will find in addition to natural wines, wines using grapes that wine makes don't typically use for wine to great effect. In addition to wines from places you've heard of in terms of winemaking prowess (France, Austria, Sonoma, Santa Barbara, Paso), but places you've never thought of for wine (Texas and Wisconsin). Kate has an incredible amount of knowledge about all the wines in the shop. Listening to her help the customers is like taking a really fun wine class! Please check them out!

Yelp
So happy this place is just around the corner from me! I just found out about natural wine from a friend so I'm still just finding my way through my favorites. I picked up a rose and a white, the rose was so good and I'll definitely be back for more. I met kate the owner and her husband Adam, both were so lovely and great customer service. Can't recommend this wine shop enough, such a pleasant experience.

Yelp
We recently found this WONDERFUL wine shop! Intriguing and unique wines that you won't find at the mega wine stores. Kate is SO helpful and can help you find exactly what you're looking for. Kate can tell you about each bottle of wine in the store. This store is a hidden gem!

Yelp
I plan to be a frequent in-person customer. In the meantime, can't go wrong with "don't think just drink 6 pack" of excellent and interesting wines delivered to your door. Thank you.
