As I write this, I'm unsure of how many stars to give...
ZERO stars to the staff
TWO stars to wine
FIVE stars for view/atmosphere
Location/Atmosphere
Located a 15minute walk or 5 minute drive from downtown Chelan, it's quite convenient to get to. Tucked back and surrounded by vineyards, the atmosphere is divine. Sitting above the lake with views for days. They have a few picnic benches on the grass, some with umbrellas and some without (they really all should have umbrellas). Large tables and chairs to accommodate large groups and smaller tables for 2.
Staff
This is where the place goes downhill...
When we arrived for a wine tasting, we selected our wines and while she was pouring, I went to peep the seating. All tables were full except for a table sitting in the direct sun with zero chairs. I asked if I could move it into the shade and grab some chairs. "We'd rather you not..." was the response I received. This is why I often don't ask and just do.
Then, the women handed us our 3 glasses of wine for tasting at once. Odd. I've been to my fair share of wineries from Italy to Napa and never experienced this. Ok, let me juggle my wine glasses to my no-table, thanks for your help ma'm.
Luckily, someone was leaving and we scored the perfect table for 2 in front of the water.
It gets better...or worse. We originally only ordered a tasting as we had just eaten brunch at Campbell's (highly recommend-see my 5 star review) and I felt the staff completely dismissed us because we had not ordered food. Little did they know, we were staying for 4 hours ordering more wine and food. They helped all the tables around us but did not make eye contact with us until I got up and went to order. Oh...then they came over to fill our water & ask how we are. Very rude!
It gets worse...next, I go up to the same counter to order food and get more wine The same older woman was there but a younger girl with red hair (?) don't remember, trying to erase her from my brain... was at the counter swiping cards. She treated me like "oh here's the menu" then turned her back to me as she went back to scolding the older woman. It was SO unprofessional and rude. Go in the back, wait until a staff meeting, if you're a manager and training, be kinder to your employees. It was SO off-putting, I almost stepped in and said something but I refrained. I did step in to order my damn food, waited for my Rosé and gave my credit card. As she was still scolding and I continued to wait, I finally was so disgusted with what I was watching, I politely said, "when you get your shit together, bring my card and I'll sign". They brought it. No apology for unprofessionalism or rudeness.
Wine/Food
We ordered cheese, olives, crackers, fruit etc. I mean, you can't go wrong here so it was good...and I was a lil tipsy so..
The wine was so-so. Nothing to write home about (or write here about). After my tasting I had a few glasses of Rosé because you can't really fuck that up on a hot summer day.
I'll say, if we hadn't had a beautiful spot in the shade on the water, we would not have stayed. I would not recommend or come back here and suggest you don't either unless you like shitty staff and mediocre wine over a beautiful view.
