The 12 Best Wineries Near Lake Chelan - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Vin Du Lac sits on the east side of the lake, and like many of the wineries, has an elevated and breathtaking view of all the jet skiers. What sets Vin Du Lac apart from the rest, aside from their short-but-solid wine list, is that they grow vegetables and herbs, like tomatillos, basil, and broccolini, to use at their bistro. When planning a nicer sit-down meal, skip Campbell’s and come here. Vin Du Lac also works if you’re just looking to snack on a cheese plate and sip on syrah or a glass of the sangria they serve occasionally." - emily burks, carlo mantuano

This venue has one of the best views of the many wineries in the area and has a very quaint feel to it. No huge "mansion" tasting room here. They have a large event tent on the lake side to sit, sip & enjoy the scenery. We chose the Pinot Gris.

Came here on March 03, 2024, for a ‘Sunday Farmhouse Community Supper.’ Maybe it was just our naivety, but we were expecting a, well, farmhouse or barn. Instead, we dined in a formerly open patio terrace that was enclosed with unfinished sheets of plywood and plastic sheeting. Since it was off-season, there was just the two of us and a party of 5 that sat on the other side of the room. The food was brought out course-by- course and was presented by a chef who explained all the items to us. I guess this was Southern Night, and although one item on the menu said ‘spicy pickled vegetables’ we did not expect everything to be spicy. Normally I do not do spicy, but got through it and enjoyed a new experience. There was so much food. I think they gave the two of us servings for four, which was nice since the meals were $40 each. We looked forward to having left-overs, but ... Come to find out, the staff combined our left-overs with the other party’s left-overs. I am not about to take that home. Sadly, so much food went to waste. The staff was really nice. GPS directions take you down the wrong road. In fact, a neighbor has a sign posted on the street that says, “Your GPS is wrong. Turn around and go back.” Maybe, hopefully, with time they will work the bugs out of their program.

Google
This small little place left the best impression and is a definitely a hidden gem in Chelan area . The location is perfect overlooking the lake but the staff is what makes this place even better and definitely one of my favorites places we visited over the weekend stay . The chef came to our table with some great recommendations about vegan options and the food tasted amazing and the presentation was wonderful. Wine selection was nice my favorite definitely the sparking rose. Do you self a favor and visit this cozy place! Highly recommended!

Off season is a great time to go have an amazing meal. The new chef is putting out some high quality stuff. We enjoyed one of the best Kale salads we've had in a long time. The meatballs and polenta are to die for and the gnocchi was top notch. For dessert a horchata Cream Brule. Everything was on point. We'll be back.

Google
Friendly service, amazing views of the lake, awesome food. We got the kale Caesar (highly recommend, the kale is grown onsite), pizza flatbread and curry mussels. Everything was delicious. The rosé bubbles was delightful. All around 5/5!

We went to the vin du lac winery for the first time. It was on a Sunday afternoon around 4 PM. There were two men serving wine in a tent. The tent was not air-conditioned. It seemed to be about 110°. There was one fan pointed at the employees.we asked them about a fan and they nonchalantly said we only have one. The two guys acted like they didn’t know why we were there, it took them forever to bring us our tastings, they acted like we were bothering them. We will never be back.

Google
Fantastic outdoor dinner! We had a wonderful dinner at Vin du Lac overlooking the water. A lot of their menu is farm to table with vegetables from the winery garden. Everything we ate was delicious and we will be back!

Google
Great wine and tasty adult (allergy conscious) + 4 year old approved food! Got take out the first night pictured, and we came back the next day to sit on the patio overlooking town and the lake which you can’t complain about. Even at 30 degrees we stayed warm with the kiddos and enjoyed a red tasting followed by a glass around little fire tables. The team was very helpful as a few of us have gluten egg allergies and the butter noodles for kiddos + fries were a hit while we enjoyed fresh trout and Kobe burgers! 🙌

Yelp
This winery is super cute and quaint. The staff is super friendly and they have a nice selection of wines. Plus, you can't beat the view!

Yelp
Stopped for lunch and wine tasting. Food felt very basic and what you might find at a Safeway deli. Skip the Mediterranean platter - decently not worth the price. Go for the wine tasting and views. Bottle felt expensive.

Yelp
This spot was okay! I was really excited by the wine selection, view, and food offerings, and was very happy with one of them. We got there and were handed a buzzer, as they had timed seatings and weren't able to seat us right away. This was totally fine, just something to be aware of. We were still able to drink some wine while we waited for a table to open up. The view was incredible and we loved our "table waiting" spot! The wine itself wasn't my style, it's pretty acidic, but almost to the point where the other fruit flavors don't come through. We didn't end up getting a bottle of anything after our tasting. For dinner, there were plenty of gluten free and vegetarian options. I ended up getting smoked salmon with lentils and it was just that: dry smoked salmon with lentils. It was super dry and had no sauce. My friend got the halibut and it was just a slab of halibut with some leaves around it. For about $45 per plate, we definitely left hungry. The staff and view are lovely, I just didn't really like the menu options we tried. I would go back for a girls trip or as a last stop, but wouldn't show up hungry again.

Yelp
Amazing views and loved sitting out on the lawn sipping wine. The wine wasn't my cup of tea but I never hold that against a place as it is mainly personal preference. Ate at the restaurant. The food and service didn't warrant the price point ($45 entree). Ordered the halibut, which was just a piece of fish on arugula. It was decent but not with the price.

Rachel G.

Yelp
The food was decent enough. The wine... meh. Not good. The ambience/experience for dinner was not great. We were told they had the heated tent up and since we had our little kids with us, and it was a chilly October evening, we were excited to have the option of a heated tent. It was not exactly set up for a great experience. Warm, but that was the only benefit? Zero decor. 3-4 randomly placed tables in there. No music or lights to create a nice atmosphere. We felt really awkward being in there. It was just the conversation from our table and the one other couple in there echoing in the tent. Seemed like they are going through maybe a management or ownership change based on the employee and club member conversations we overheard? Great location and beautiful view of the lake. But don't go for dinner if you're looking for a nice evening unless you're willing to sit outside.

Yelp
The view was great! We came during the off-season and got lucky with the weather and man the view is amazing. Even our kids appreciated it ;) Service was great, attentive, prompt and kind (especially our 3 kids.) Food was good - our kids raved about the butter noodles. Wife got the burger and side salad. Good 4 out of 5. I got the chicken cacciatore (half chicken) - taste was really good, but the chicken breast was dry. The dark meat part of the great. Only small complaint for the food. Wine - Cotes Du Lac was our favorite from the 2 (6 choices) samplings.
google avatar

Callie C.

Yelp
Everyone here was so friendly. They even welcomed our dog and gave him treats and fresh water. We did two samplings of wine so we could try the majority of them. The staff is knowledgeable and kind. We didn't know much about wine so they gave us clear instructions to help our experience! We ended up buying two bottles and the wine sampling fee is put towards the purchase of a bottle. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing. The view is spectacular and looks over lake Chelan.

Yelp
Beautiful French winery on the lake. Amazing views and friendly service! The heated patio is great even in early April. They were very accommodating when we wanted to do the tasting out by the lake and have lunch in the covered patio. We got a bottle of the Pinot Gris and enjoyed it with their delicious shareables. The food was absolutely yummy! Lots of vegetarian options. This should be a must-visit in your wine hop in the area!

Yelp
Love the view!!! Favorite winery in Chelan!! Food is very good. But their charcuterie board can use some improvement. Used to include chutney and good jam but last few times none was present and cheese was like a regular mozarella or cheddar and not spreadable. Used to be a really good charcuterie board even few months back. And please do not put unripe watermelon on that board, it really does not belong there. Otherwise wine and food is good, but especially the view- the best!

Yelp
Kind of a weird vibe, the waiters seemed like it was a hassle to help us. Asked for a food menu twice and was never given one. Wine was good though. Will try going back, hoping it was just an off day? I feel like the building had a bit of deferred maintenance.
google avatar

Erin J.

Yelp
Beautiful location and great food. Our group ordered several things to share. The charcuterie was nothing special and we didn't even finish it. French fries were good. Salad was good. Pasta fettuccine was exceptional! Chopped herbs on top brought freshness to a perfect dish.
google avatar

Christine D.

Yelp
Caters to white women aka girls getaway weekend. If you're a brown family, go elsewhere. They'll make sure bigger groups of white women are more comfortable than yours. Unfortunate, the view and Pinot noir rose are wonderful.
google avatar

Sue A.

Yelp
No tastings were being done nor were salads available from menu. Short staffed & not very friendly. Essentially had to order at bar. No one ever checked on us so we didn't order anymore wine. Nor did we buy any. The view is nice and wine was good but service is really bad!

Yelp
Vin du Lac is a beautiful winery with views of the lake. We arrived at 6:45 on a Monday and joined the waitlist to sit for dinner, because they don't take reservations anymore. While we waited, we were able to order wine and appetizers and sit in the adirondack chairs that they have all around the grass facing the views. We got some wine and a charcuterie board. I think they forgot our charcuterie board because we did have to ask about it after about 30 minutes, and ended up getting it right before our table was ready at about 7:40. No worries, they were busy, but if we had been on a timeline it could have been an issue. We ordered dinner and it came out fairly quickly. The rosé pasta was delicious, so was the shrimp pasta salad. Other people in my group got the french dip, fried chicken sandwich, and mediterranean pasta which they all said were delicious. I will definitely be returning here on future trips for the views and delicious food!

Yelp
The food was wonderful! The wine was delicious and the staff was extremely friendly! The Ambiance was amazing, lake Chelan at its best!

Yelp
Beautiful view. Good food. Friendly staff. We bought a bottle of wine. Lovely time. If you're in Lake Chelan, make sure you visit this place.

Yelp
When going to Lake Chelan, you have to stop by a winery. This one was a 30 minute walk from the Grandview. Breath taking view while walking to and at the winery. You can bring your children. No reservations required (unless it's a bigger party). There's a nice selection of whites and reds. I'm not too much of a wine person, so it's hard to review that. But the view while getting tipsy was gorgeous. There are multiple lounge chairs for you to sit back and relax. The service was nice and engaging. They accidentally gave me my wrong wine tasting and let me keep those and gave me my correct one. Service for the food was slightly slow but food was good. Lake Chelan has a thing for tachos (tater tots nachos).

Yelp
Visited Vin Du Lac on a Sunday afternoon around 12:45. Very popular spot - we checked in with the front and next available seating was 2:15pm. We ordered a bottle of wine and found some seating on the lawn and hung out until our table was ready. Venue was on the hill overlooking the lake - beautiful location. Menu had a good variety - we ordered a few dishes to share (Sandwich on raisin bread, salad, and Mac and cheese with chicken). As for wine - we tried the 2015 Syrah. Lovely afternoon in Chelan :) if you're looking for a spot to hangout with decent food and wine (you will not be disappointed).

Yelp
Cute little winery. We had wine tasting, which was $10 for three 1 ounce pours. Decent wine. Their food was good and service was fast. Kobe beef burger was good and cooked perfectly medium. The bread on the chicken and jalapeño sandwich was delicious and fresh. Tachos were good too. They gave our kids bubbles to play with, which was nice.
google avatar

Yelp
Fabulous views and a great way to enjoy the outdoors while drinking wine outside in Chelan. We had the French dip and it was phenomenal. French fries delicious. We will definitely be back.

Zoya E.

Yelp
Came in for lunch. Another group of 3 came in after us. The server said to wait, he'll organize more tables (all the tables were busy). The kids sat on patio furniture. While I was checking in on the kids, the group that came in after us was seated. We're still on the patio furniture. Next I hear the waiter is telling the group that came in after us about the food. We're still in the patio furniture, and no one had come over to even talk to us. Horrible service.

Yelp
Lovely!!! We came during a busy hot Chelan weekend during Phase 1.5 COVID. There was limited seating, all on the patio. Service was great!! The staff was friendly & helpful. The patio has great views, with umbrellas for shade and sunny spots to enjoy the heat. We ordered wine to start. The tasting allows you to pick three options. The white pinot noir was a perfect choice for the day. The winner w was sold out of the Rose', and as they said, a good problem for a winery to have. Our lunch was fabulous. We ordered a side of fries to get started -and it was a very shareable/generous portion. Hubs and I shared a burger (so we could get dessert). It was delicious, cooked perfectly. I opted to try the sangria after my initial wine tasting, sangria was delightful!! Perfect for a hot day, not too sweet. Did I mention dessert?? The strawberry shortcake was OMG good!! It's a must order item! Great spot to wine taste and dine!!

Yelp
Stunning views of gorgeous Lake Chelan paired with delicious, crisp white wine on a perfect 82 degree day - yes please! The Haricots Vert with Pork Belly was a stellar starter followed by an incredible French Dip with side salad matched the unrivaled view for a great dining experience. Don't miss this place!

Yelp
What a great experience! My mom and I stopped in around 6pm to share a meal and sample some wine .. I ordered a 3 white wine flat and it was delicious and I really loved the Viognier!! We shared a Kobe Cheeseburger and fries we loved every bite, the fries were delicious fresh made! TJ was our server and he was attentive and friendly and fun. Social distancing on point beautiful views can't wait to go back !

Susan A.

Yelp
Rude hostess and over priced food. Uncomfortable chairs Not classy . They should change the name to Lookout cafe and wine. It mostly exists to serve the Look out. Locals beware !
google avatar

Lili Y.

Yelp
We visited on a Wednesday evening in May. They were able to seat us right away in their outdoor seating area overlooking the lake. We did not do a full wine tasting, but ordered a bottle of Chardonnay, shared a large arugula and roasted beet salad, half baguette, and each ordered an entree. We had such a nice meal overlooking the water and the mountains around Chelan. I will definitely return here again!

Yelp
Stopped by twice during the weekend of 10.02.21 because the wine was wonderful and the views were breathtaking! When you walk up to the counter you order your wine, pay and seat yourself. Both times we sat at the corner front table that had a beautiful view. There are also lawn chairs on the grass afacing the water you can sit at. While seated a bistro worker will ask if you'd like to order food. (The bistro & Vin du Lac are separate businesses sharing space). Both wine & bistro server were very friendly! WINE: 5 stars The wine was delicious! A tasting consists of 3 wines and costs $10. Our favorite wines were the Tempranillo ($30 bottle) & Pinot Noir ($40 bottle). On the day of, they had 7 wines to choose from for the tastings. Tasting waived per bottle purchase. The Food: 2 stars The Charcuterie board was $22. It was a good amount of food but would've liked to see less of the olives and a bit more meat. The Kobe cheeseburger with bacon was $21 or $22. We asked for it medium and it came out well done. The fries were cold. The smoked Gouda Mac & cheese was $17. Good portion tossed in cheese sauce and covered in a mountain layer of panko crumbs. Usually I love Panko crumbs on my Mac & cheese but they weren't broiled or charred on. Meaning we had dry raw bread crumbs. Was not a great combination the dry toppings with cheesy pasta. Overall, would not suggest the food past the charcuterie board. We will definitely be back for some wine on our next weekend trip! Such a charming winery with magazine worthy views. Really makes for a romantic lively evening.

Yelp
Terrific food and service! Had the Coq AU Vin and it was sumptuous - great root vegetables and tender flavorful chicken. They made a grilled chicken breast for my picky child and wolfed down! Reds were good, wasn't a fan of the whites. Really nice service. Looking forward to coming back.

Yelp
So I highly recommend this place needless to say had dinner here 2 nights in a row. Both 2 nights bought 4 bottles of wine. Beautiful view, wonderful service and excellent food and wine. Reasonable prices . I can't wait to come back...
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped by to see my aunt who lives in town and grab lunch. Our server was super nice and on top of it. It's outdoor seating only at this time but can't beat the views anyhow. We had the French dip and the chicken salad sandwich, both fresh and delicious. I would come back for the French dip, was better than another I had in town the evening prior. The muscles also looked so good! The prices are similar to anywhere else. We both left with a bottle of rose, it's a good one.

Yelp
Gorgeous view- delicious wine/food-great service, what more can you ask for on a gorgeous day in Lake Chelan. This place was very close to where our Condo was for the week and it was our first stop. The view is just amazing overlooking the Lake. Ashley was our server and she was so friendly and amazing. We had food allergies and so she made a point to ensure everything was good with our orders. We ordered the chicken burger and the serving was big enough to share between two people. The Tachos were yummy and the freshly made banquette was just what you needed with wine. We did some tasting and it's $15 and waived if you purchase a bottle which we did. They a great rosé and delish selections of red. Very light reds that pairs well with everything. I loved this place and since been here for a week have stopped back here twice for view and wine. If you are around definitely a spot you wanna try. All covid precautions are in place- sanitizers, mask and social distancing. The have some Pinot specials by the case. I'm not a Pinot person but the deals are good. Thank you Ashley for making our visit there just great. Your friendliness and accommodation towards our dietary requirements were very must appreciated.

Yelp
Delish food, tantalizing wine, friendly service and a Devine view, this place is a must stop. Enjoy sunsets while enjoying their wine and food. Favorites things include fresh cut fries and hubby loves the muscles!

Yelp
Very beautiful locations one of the best Alfredo's I've had. Not your standard, thick cream crap. It was balanced garlic and lemon and fresh parsley. Divine!

Yelp
Absolutely fabulous menu and amazing views!! You will always be amazed with a fabulous lunch or dinner! The service is top notch

Laura D.

Yelp
Our meal was fabulous! The salmon was perfect with the local ingredients. The tater tots are the best! Ever! The waiters were so nice. The view is beautiful!

Yelp
At this charming setting we had an extraordinary evening overlooking the grape vines, the lake and hills beyond, as the sky glowed in pink. Starting with fabulous tasting wines, a hearty kelp salad, crusty focaccia was followed by a summer soup of corn, apple, peppers and cukes. We discovered a lovely white Cotes du Lac that was revealed during the tasting. Food is locally sourced as are all the grapes. Equally satisfying was great and congenial staff!! Agritourism at its best!!!
google avatar

Bob R.

Yelp
We stopped here in a whim and are so glad we did! All the wines are great, but the Mourvèdre is outstanding! We got two tastings, a charcuterie board and shrimp cocktail. The homemade cocktail sauce is fantastic, too! We will definitely be back, and we highly recommend.

Yelp
Seven months ago I left a 5 star review and said I would return. Well, this Saturday my wife and I were in Chelan buying wine and chose Vin du Lac for lunch. We started with a wine tasting and then had sandwiches with a mixed green side salads. Roasted chicken and French dip sandwiches. We sat in the shade on the patio with a beautiful view of the lake. The service continues to be friendly and attentive. The food was tasty, well presented and served quickly. The high point of this visit was the wine tasting. The staff were all knowledgeable about wine. We had conversations about upcoming releases and some of their prior vintages. At the end, we purchased a few bottles of some of the wines we tasted. On my prior visit I was wowed by their 2017 Cabernet Franc. I regret not buying a case back then as they have sold out. It was that good. As we left, I promised to return for the release of their next Cabernet Franc. Thank you Vin fu Lac Winery & Bistro for a delightful lunch.

Yelp
Beautiful view and great food. Loved this spot and the service was also good. Plus you can get excellent bottles of wine for $10! Recommend the king salmon for mains. Pastas were a little rich but also good. Great place to visit on a sunny afternoon/evening in Chelan!

Yelp
Sweet sweet vin du lac. Your wine is delicious. Your food is delectable. Your views are to die for. Your service is dazzling. Thanks for being here.

Yelp
I 1000% can't understand the reviews griping about the service or anything else - my friend, my dog and I showed up this afternoon post-hike and had the perfect experience. 1. The service is stellar - welcoming, friendly, quick, but not over the top and in your space trying to sell you millions of dollars of wine (like Napa). 2. The food is delicious and gluten-free/vegetarian friendly. We got the baked Brie, vegan protein plate, and lavender creme brûlée. All three were delicious. 3. The wine is delicious! Did a white/rose tasting and bought a bottle of the rosé - crisp, strawberry notes, not too sweet. And they brought the tasting out to us outside instead of making us run in for each one (like almost everywhere). 4. The views are incredible and they're super dog friendly (even brought a bowl of water with ice out for my lil dude). In conclusion, maybe if you got bad service it's because you're a dick. This place rules. (Or to be fair, maybe they got rid of everyone that worked there that sucked. You could still be a dick though, idk.)

Yelp
What a wonderful birthday celebration! Live music, great wine, fantastic food was all for the taking this afternoon. We had a baguette, charcuterie board, a burger and fries. The live music was such a treat. Carly Schoening is so good, and she is coming back Memorial Day weekend.

Yelp
Great service. Delicious pizza. Beautiful views. Yummy wine. We got the Margherita pizza with added pepp. Always get the pepp. Be sure to ask for a table with a view. That's why you're here, right?

Yelp
As I write this, I'm unsure of how many stars to give... ZERO stars to the staff TWO stars to wine FIVE stars for view/atmosphere Location/Atmosphere Located a 15minute walk or 5 minute drive from downtown Chelan, it's quite convenient to get to. Tucked back and surrounded by vineyards, the atmosphere is divine. Sitting above the lake with views for days. They have a few picnic benches on the grass, some with umbrellas and some without (they really all should have umbrellas). Large tables and chairs to accommodate large groups and smaller tables for 2. Staff This is where the place goes downhill... When we arrived for a wine tasting, we selected our wines and while she was pouring, I went to peep the seating. All tables were full except for a table sitting in the direct sun with zero chairs. I asked if I could move it into the shade and grab some chairs. "We'd rather you not..." was the response I received. This is why I often don't ask and just do. Then, the women handed us our 3 glasses of wine for tasting at once. Odd. I've been to my fair share of wineries from Italy to Napa and never experienced this. Ok, let me juggle my wine glasses to my no-table, thanks for your help ma'm. Luckily, someone was leaving and we scored the perfect table for 2 in front of the water. It gets better...or worse. We originally only ordered a tasting as we had just eaten brunch at Campbell's (highly recommend-see my 5 star review) and I felt the staff completely dismissed us because we had not ordered food. Little did they know, we were staying for 4 hours ordering more wine and food. They helped all the tables around us but did not make eye contact with us until I got up and went to order. Oh...then they came over to fill our water & ask how we are. Very rude! It gets worse...next, I go up to the same counter to order food and get more wine The same older woman was there but a younger girl with red hair (?) don't remember, trying to erase her from my brain... was at the counter swiping cards. She treated me like "oh here's the menu" then turned her back to me as she went back to scolding the older woman. It was SO unprofessional and rude. Go in the back, wait until a staff meeting, if you're a manager and training, be kinder to your employees. It was SO off-putting, I almost stepped in and said something but I refrained. I did step in to order my damn food, waited for my Rosé and gave my credit card. As she was still scolding and I continued to wait, I finally was so disgusted with what I was watching, I politely said, "when you get your shit together, bring my card and I'll sign". They brought it. No apology for unprofessionalism or rudeness. Wine/Food We ordered cheese, olives, crackers, fruit etc. I mean, you can't go wrong here so it was good...and I was a lil tipsy so.. ‍ The wine was so-so. Nothing to write home about (or write here about). After my tasting I had a few glasses of Rosé because you can't really fuck that up on a hot summer day. I'll say, if we hadn't had a beautiful spot in the shade on the water, we would not have stayed. I would not recommend or come back here and suggest you don't either unless you like shitty staff and mediocre wine over a beautiful view.

Yelp
My husband and I turned into the Vin Du Lac bistro for dinner on a whim one evening in early March. We hadn't been there for dinner in more than a year so we weren't sure what to expect. We were overwhelmingly pleased with the food and the service. The inside is quite charming but also quite small, so can only seat a few tables. But the waiter, TJ was excellent and very familiar with menu so was able to make some really solid recommendations. The wine manager was also extremely helpful and paired up the perfect wine with what we were having. I've not been overly impressed with Vin du lac's wines in the past but the one recommended was very good. I had their coq au vin and it was absolutely superb. Come to find out, they just acquired a new chef in recent months with vast experience in a variety of cuisine. He's really raised the menu and dining experience to a whole new level. We were also told they now have new wine maker as well. We won't see the benefits of that for a few years. But a new chef and new winemaker looks promising for Vin Du Lac Bistro. We're looking forward to dining there again soon! I would highly recommend them.

Yelp
Hard to beat the setting perched high on the hill overlooking the lake. There is a sloped grassy area with Adirondack chairs that kiddos and doggos can frolic around. We had two very good pastas. Of the wines I tasted, the chardonnay was my favorite - it was neither dry nor buttery, right down the middle which I found quite unique. It also was awesome that we could walk here from our place in the lookout

Yelp
The owner Larry is a gracious host and often found on site. Their restaurant actually is a farm to table concept with gardens right on site! They are one of the original wineries in Chelan and their wine quality shows it. The view is gorgeous and they often have live music on the patio.
