Basic sandwiches done well and in a cute retro general store vibe. And right next to their bakery/cafe so whether you like breakfast, lunch, or brunch, can do whatever you want. I like their seasonal drinks like strawberry lemonade and excited to see what else they offer at different times.

My go-to, to-go lunch spot that I wished was open more days throughout week! The Spuckie sandwich is superior in taste and size and by far one of the best cold cuts I’ve had — whatever spicy-dressing they use in there really knocks it out of the park and makes this sandwich constantly crave-able. The general store itself is really well curated with snacks and drinks with a retro-modern decor which feels fun to peruse. The rotating soft-serve flavors are so delicious as well and a great way to cap off a meal. Service is always extremely friendly and consistent just like their food.

an absolute gem in the neighborhood. Such a fun and happy ambiance with delicious feel-good food, reasonably priced beverages, and a unique environment to enjoy a meal/relax. cannot rave about this place more, is a much needed addition to Somerville. they also have a selection of old-time candy, local goods (from cleenland), and an assortment of chips and soda. plus the staff is so kind and service is awesome!

Incredible curation of interesting sauces, chips, NA drinks, random foods to go along with their modern fountain bar vibe. Super inventive sandwiches (spruckle ftw!) and an overall great and welcome companion to their best in class breakfast sando shop next door. Highly recommend!

Amazing lunch spot! Well prepared turkey sandwich, bread was fresh, crisp lettuce. Ice cream was fresh and creamy and the service was prompt and energetic.

I've eaten the Turkey Sandwich and the "Spuckie" which is kind of like their take on an Italian Sub. This place hits it out of the park with what I've had so far. Tons of bang for your buck with how much food they stuff in the bread, I always leave feeling full. I only wish I knew about this place sooner, they should advertise more. Also serving soft serve year round, which I can't wait to try. If you're in the neighborhood, you gotta stop by.

Hidden gem. The spuckie is far and away the best Italian sandwich I've ever eaten. 1000% Not your typical run of the mill pizza place that does subs. This is the perfect Italian sandwich. Also the vibe and service is on point. I only wish they did hot sandwiches as well.. but I'm still happy with the cold cuts

The Vinal Spukie is by far the best version of the Italian sandwich I've ever had. I'm looking forward to trying other sandwiches.

I saw Vinal General Store on Boston Globe's list of best sandwiches in the Boston area, so I knew I had to give it a try. I came on a Saturday at 11:45 and there was plenty of seating available. I had preordered my sandwich online and pickup was a breeze. I ordered the Best Cellar: turkey, cheddar, maple mustard, pickles, and crispy fried shallots on Iggy's country white bread. It was definitely a very tasty sandwich! The pickles tasted really fresh and flavorful and I loved the crunch of the fried shallots. My only small complaint was that there wasn't much turkey on the sandwich. I expected a bit more at this price point. Still very tasty overall and I will definitely be back to try more sandwiches!

This place has some of the best sandwiches I've ever had. The best cellar is absolutely amazing. If I had so come up with a perfect sandwich, that would be it. This time I tried the veggie thanksgiving special and it was awesome! The cranberry apple butter really made it. I look forward to stopping here every time I'm in the area - I only wish I could get the sandwich sent to me year round.

I am one of seemingly few folks in this world who does not enjoy sandwiches. If given the choice, I would take my meal in just about any other form. But I thoroughly enjoyed my sandwich from Vinal. The bread was incredibly soft, the veggies were fresh, the deli meat was thick and flavorful, and the hots mayo was the perfect tangy balance to it all. I ate the entire thing in one sitting, and it was not a small sandwich. I also really liked the general store and old school vibe.

Wow. The Italian sandwich here really is AMAZING. It's the best I've ever had. Full of meat, saucy, spicy, crunchy, great quality bread. It's worth the drive if you don't live in the neighborhood, seriously. It's not your average deli italian sub- you can taste the quality ingredients. Best part is the hots Mayo- I want to buy this on its own.

I have to give a shout out to Vinal for perfecting the Italian Grinder. I'm always on a quest for an Italian grinder that tastes as good as it looks, but most suffer the same fate of being rather bland and fatiguing my palate after a few bites. Vinal avoids this through the addition of a perfect amount of spice (hots mayo), acid and sweetness (pickles and smoked maple vinaigrette), and freshness (lettuce, tomato, and onion) that work to balance and enhance the deli meats that are piled on thick. Further, the ciabatta is absolutely delicious and has the structure to keep this brilliant work of sandwich engineering intact. Wash it down with some soft serve ice cream (the strawberry and vanilla twist with rose strawberry shortcake crumble was reminiscent of the one from ice cream trucks but much better) and leave feeling much happier than you were when you first came in.

GET THE SOFT SERVE. Their flavors rotate monthly. I had piña colada: a pineapple Dole Whip and coconut swirl. Even though the pineapple was dairy-free, it was shockingly creamy. The small for $5 was sizable and perfect for an afternoon snack. You could get by with the mini for $4 too. Cute interior and friendly staff--really has that general store vibe with a hipster twist.

I had been to Vinal Bakery before but this was my first time at the general store next door. It was so cute! There is a counter for eating in and a little store with some food items and gifts to browse while you wait. I got the Veggie Supreme sandwich with housemade pimento cheese, shredded lettuce, tomato, dill pickles, pickled red onion & red wine vinaigrette and it was delicious! It was very flavorful and had a little kick to it but got a little soggy with the country loaf bread so I'd get it on a ciabatta roll next time.

Sprint! Don't run! To vinal general store! This amazing woman founded business has the most incredible sandwiches, dips, soft serve, beer/wine, and cool specialty sauces for sale. The food is LEGIT. Sarah (the owner) is an incredible baker (and person). They have an oyster dip and pimento cheese dip to take away. Excellent chip and cracker and pasta selection. Pesto, maple syrup, candles, chap stick, knitting kits and hot sauces. This is the neighborhood gem that you don't want to miss. Support a place with quality that will make you come back, and people that you'll fall in love with. Vinal general hits all the spots.

I'm obsessed with the Vinal General Store. Amazing sandwiches and soft serve, as well as all the gourmet extras a foodie could dream of! My boyfriend got the Vinal Spuckie, an Italian sub. It was massive and incredibly delicious, I kept stealing bites. I got the mango vanilla soft serve twist. I hope this is a flavor they do again, because it was soooo good! Summery and light. I also got a Ghia mocktail, sumac and chili flavored, which I had been dying to try but couldn't find at other foodie shops in Boston. It was nice to have the option of buying just one to make sure I liked it, before I splurged on a whole pack! They have Graza olive oil and Fishwife tinned fish, as well as other treats to buy and bring home. They know how to make a great sandwich here, and I will definitely be back!

Soft serve Looking forward to trying lunch or brunch here, but walking by and finding this place and then discovering that they have soft serve ice cream was pretty exciting! Raspberry/vanilla swirl was great!!

The sandwiches at this spot are to die for. Step into a throw back general store, grab a bag of old timey candy or a drink at the bar, or just pickup your to-go order! Awesome neighborhood spot.

My roommates and I all agree this our favorite spot in Somerville! Delicious sandwiches that are big enough to take half home, yummy soft serve and a bunch of cool grocery items too! They capture the quintessential feeling of a quaint sandwich shop while taking advantage of modern trends. There are also great new seasonal specials each month so we never get tired of the menu. 10/10 would recommend.
