Oliver Osoyoos Wine Country Destination Guide

"A family-owned decade-old winery notable for a winemaker who is also a trained chef, resulting in thoughtfully paired bites and charcuterie in the wine lounge; the producer has standout wines—particularly a pinot gris and a revived pinot noir—and delivers a warm, distinctive tasting experience." - Carrie Honaker Carrie Honaker Carrie Honaker is a Florida-based writer who has hauled oyster cages off the Forgotten Coast of Florida, made Guavaberry Liqueur with a 7th generation distiller on St. Maarten, and stomped cacao pods in Grenada. When you need some harmony and balance in life try sipping VinAmité Cellars! Vin (French for wine); Amité (Norman Medieval English for Friend & harmony) you can extract the importance of savouring life with those close to you. This wonderful Canadian wine chapter began as a dream for Ray Coulombe whom enjoyed the Europeanesque ambience of Old Historic Montreal’s lively café and bistro scene sipping dreamy French wines during his advertising career. Beaujolais and darling wife Wendy stole his heart! Looking for a legacy gift for his daughters Catherine and Nathalie and bask in the fruits of his labour- why not bring Beaujolais to BC? Breathing life into existing 5 acre vineyard and creating the winery in 2013 his visions became reality. Winemaker Phil Soo (Noble Ridge, Dirty Laundry, Cassini, Silkscarf, Ruby Blues, Gold Hill, Bonamici) laid the foundation and mentored daughter Catherine who gracefully carried the French inspired focus from first vintage in 2018. A former haute caterer and fashion student, it was natural to pursue the art of winemaking and capture each wondrous season in a bottle. Today’s visit was spectacular! Nathalie’s art adorned the walls, Christmas charm of a Hallmark movie, the gentle aromas of fondue and baking filled the air and pièce de résistance- Catherine’s delicately crafted wines. A portfolio worth collecting and deserving of the finest restaurant menus! Also one of a few whose warmhearted personality, gentile nature and intrepid boldness is defined in each glass. 🏆❤️🍷⚜️ Through life’s triumphs and defeats, may you always be blessed with the comfort of “wine friends”. A “MUST VISIT” for enophiles, wine enthusiasts, foodies, or anyone seeking an authentic wine country experience! Events, rotating ciders, local beer on tap and Catherine’s epicurean delights.

Lovely winery with a welcoming and relaxed vibe. The tasting room feels cozy and the staff are friendly, taking the time to explain each wine without making it feel too formal. Their wines are smooth and well balanced, with a good variety to suit different tastes. It’s the kind of place where you can sit back, enjoy a glass, and not feel rushed. Prices are fair and the overall experience feels personal, which makes it stand out compared to bigger, busier wineries. A great stop if you’re exploring the Oliver wine region.

This was such an amazing and cute winery. We tried a bunch of wines and had a Brie, Pear and honey grilled cheese. So delicious. I could have eaten 3 of them. A cozy, friendly environment and the winemaker was so personable an knowledgeable. Highly recommend. 🍷

One of the best wine tasting experiences we’ve ever had. Daisy was friendly and knowledgeable about the many wines they make. The charcuterie plate was delicious and had an assortment of local cheeses, spreads and meats. The setting and ambience are perfect and we highly recommend this winery tasting experience.

Stopped here a couple of months back for a couple of glasses of wine. Very quaint, intimate and cozy. Good wine and snacks. Service was accommodating and helpful as well. Worth a stop!

We recently visited vinAmite for a tasting this week. It’s a small winery with friendly staff. I enjoyed the tasting experience and that wine was pretty good. The AC in their building isn’t fantastic, so I recommend going on a cooler day. I think the tasting would have been even better on their patio. While the staff were friendly, I was disappointed we didn’t receive more information/service as the tasting fee is non-refundable with purchase. We were the only people having a tasting and they would pour the glass, provide a small description and then head into the back room until they returned to pour the next wine.

I had seen an online mention of the place and it's relaxed lounge-y concept (plus I'm obsessed with charcuterie), so we turned in when we saw the sign. We opted for the full seated tasting and ordered charcuterie boards x2 on the patio. Honestly, this was one of the most enjoyable visits we've had in the valley in the last 9 years of regular trips up from the coast. Warm, friendly service, excellent wines, and delicious creative ingredients on the board. We went back today to get treats for my parents, and the staff was fun and energetic and so accommodating. Can't say enough good things - merci beaucoup! We'll be back 🍷

Such a lovely family! Amazing spot, great conversation and good wine. Apparently it's really happening there in the summer with their terrasse and they serve food (we were there during winter). I recommend!

Yelp
vinAmité Cellars is a South Okanagan boutique winery in Oliver BC that produces wines using traditional French-style varietals. Their tasting room is small but this spot is not to be missed so be sure to book ahead through their website.

Yelp
This place goes under the name of vin Amite now and it's right off hiwway 97 just south of Oliver. This is probable the smallest winery we visited on this past trip. It's has a lovely tasting room with a beautiful deck out back that overlooks the vineyard. We decided to sit down and have their Charcuterie plate paired with their wines. What a great sampling it was!! The lady came out and even brought us another wine to try that they have limited bottles left of. We ended up spending a nice lunch hour on the deck enjoying the food, wine and view. I recommend taking a stop and checking this small family run vineyard out.
