This cozy pizzeria on Bushey's high street serves up delightful NYC-style slices and pies alongside hearty pasta and sandwiches, perfect for any craving.
"Pizza is often seen as a convenience food but, for those coming from central London, Vincenzo’s will be a bit of a schlep. Trust us when we say, it’s worth it. This homage to NYC-style pizza is a matchbox-sized room on Bushey's high street that has a couple of walk-in only tables, a suntrap bench, and a whole lot of eager takeaway customers. An oil painting of Paulie Walnuts hangs on the wall and beside it a photo of the oven from Lombardi’s in New York. Although what’s coming out the oven here is nothing like that tourist hot spot. The regular pies are rolled ludicrously thin to ensure an even, truly crispy, singed base with a thin crust. These slices have no problem holding their own. And, when it's on, the special grandma pie—thick with vodka sauce on a focaccia-like base—is a standout. In fact, it’s all so good that we’d be interested to know what our New York colleagues think. Vincenzo’s clearly takes some inspiration from legendary slices like Joe’s and L’Industrie. But it’s also doing its own thing. So, if you want serious NYC-style pizza you’re gonna have to leave London—it’s just not as far as you think. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch" - Jake Missing
