"The wine list is the linchpin of this warm, aptly named restaurant with an intimate urban garden to the rear. Owner David van Steenderen, a world-class sommelier, has a knack for finding new gems. He takes great pleasure in letting his diners taste his discoveries for themselves, offering a choice of wine pairings. The food is just as sophisticated. Classic techniques meet innovative ideas and expertise, creating dishes that complement the wines beautifully. Savour ceviche made with young mackerel, or salmon tartare with a millefeuille of chicory and sorrel oil. With an extensive à la carte selection and set menus, one is spoilt for choice!" - Michelin Inspector

Apologies to the staff, but food was simply very bad for a restaurant of this level. The best part of the meal was the bread. We ate here this evening, and had the Bib Gourmand menu - "confit du canard cannelloni" starter and the "coq au vin" main. The cannelloni didn't really taste of much - definitely not duck - and the ham accompaniments were also flavourless. (Earlier in the day, I was eating pata negra jamon for lunch - now that has proper flavour). The coq au vin was the worst - simply 3 lukewarm slices of sous-vide protein (chicken breast?) without any flavour at all - with a few bland garnishes. No Maillard reaction, definitely no deep flavour from a long braise as you'd expect from a coq au vin. The dish felt like simply pulling chicken breast from the sous vide, and throwing a few prepped garnishes on it. The amuse-bouche was alright - at least had some flavour - but nothing exceptional. The presentation of the food is good - it looks great on the plate. But that's meaningless if there is no flavour. The service was fine, no complaints there. I'm sorry to say it, but I eat at many restaurants both with and without stars or Bib Gourmands, and this was some of the worst food I have been served in a very long time, especially at a restaurant with these accolades.

We had a great experience at Vineum. The food was delicate and thoughtfully composed, complex in flavor but not overpowering. It was the perfect balance that allowed the wines to shine alongside each dish. It's clear that a lot of care and expertise went into crafting the menu. Same goes for their wine, where you can find some classics as well as newer names you can try out. The atmosphere is classy, yet warm and welcoming, and the wine selection is absolutely something we'll be coming back for - possibly several times again. The service was also impressive: warm, attentive and knowledgeable. A real gem in Rotterdam, highly recommended for those who enjoy fine dining and serious wine.

Amazing experience at VINEUM, a fine-dining restaurant in the city-centre of Rotterdam. We both went for the 7 course dinner with the prestige wine pairing. What I liked was the option for half glasses. 7 full glasses of wine would have been a lot. The service was outstanding with great explanation about the dishes and accompanying wines. Would recommend to anyone. They have a garden for sunny summer nights.

A wonderful experience. Delicious food and fantastic wine. We had the four course set menu (€53) and I had the premium wine pairing at €12 a glass. Service was fantastic and staff are so happy to help to make your experience better. Not an issue swapping dishes on the set menu, sometimes serving two half glasses of wine per course if it added to the experience.

In the centre of Rotterdam you can find this gem. A mixture of amazing wines and Michelin rated food will make this one of the best lunches you’ve had. The staff has an amazing wine knowledge and caters to the preferences of the patrons. You can either have a set menu or dine a la carte. The setting is very soothing and the background music creates a warm ambiance. Perfect for a business lunch or a romantic date.

My husband and I walked in without any expectations and walked out super impressed with the quality of food, wine options, and service level provided. Neither of us were big fans of creme brulee but somehow we both agreed is was the best creme brulee we've had. We already cannot wait to come back and share our experience with other friends.

I had a very mediocre experience with a restaurant of this level. On the good side, they’ve got a vibrant wine selection and a cosy interior. You can choose a half portion of almost everything except a few desserts, which allows you to try more food options. They start with some compliments from the chef, which is always lovely. On the downside, the tartaar had quite big chops of meat that were hard to chew, therefore the whole dish didn’t feel wholesome and enjoyable. The main dishes were okay, without anything special that would make you want to return for more. The dessert was good, but the tarragon ice cream was more of a soft serve than ice cream. The most delicious ones were the oysters. The rest is simply not worth it, and I believe you won’t get the value for the money you’re paying here🤷🏻‍♀️
