Vino Veritas Wine Bar and Bottle Shop

Didn’t try the food, so five stars there. Selection is very good, well curated but oddly laid out. If I had to nitpick I’d say there’s a lot of filler in between islands of quality. Prices are very reasonable. Went here on a gift card, would I go back with real money? I think so.

Vino Veritas is the wine staple every city should strive to be. The service feels family owned not only because the owner and his 2 wine sommeliers (Trever and Miguel) are insanely knowledgeable about every detail, wine and food pairings but also because there is barely a time we visit when we don’t get treated with extras (the way you do when you get seated to a 7 course meal). They go above and beyond when they can and it shows. If I could give this place 6 stars I would. If you are in Portland and are into wine and great service please don’t miss this gem!!!

Excellent food and wine, excellent service, outstanding atmosphere and entertainment. The staff is very knowledgeable with the entire inventory, definitely ask for recommendations.

One of my favorite wine bars. Nice wine selection, super friendly ppl, very cozy ambience. It feels like you’re in your living room. And the live music adds to the experience.

We tasted a couple of flights and a glass of Pét Nat each, it was a really lovely experience. Fairly priced. Calm and cool atmosphere with some nice music. Each table has an assortment of obscure Trivial Pursuit cards which was such a fun, silly addition to the experience. We also ordered the truffle almonds to break up the wine a bit and they were very tasty. The person who prepared our flights was very knowledgeable and friendly. This was a Sunday afternoon, I wish I could remember their name because he really did top off the experience.

Friendly, knowledgeable staff with a great wine selection and a nice happy hour. They usually have a live band on Saturday nights, and fun charcuterie trays.

Sorry to all the others but this place has the best vibes. A great service and selection of wine with live music! Always a delight.

Best wine bar/ shop/ service in Portland! This is gem of a spot and the owner is so knowledgeable and friendly. The flights of wine are a delight, the environment is cozy and relaxed with plenty of space to spread out. It's a neighborhood spot and a destination for great wine (also a wonderful place to get a quick drink if you're waiting for a table nearby). The fact that it's not inspired by instagram trends is a major plus, it'll put you in a wonderful trance where you connect and make eye contact and completely forget about your phone. Plus the lighting is nice. It's already been the location of some of my best conversations in 2024-and best glasses of wine. Winning without even seeming to try! GEM.

I really enjoyed the space and my time here. The service and music was great. They have live music (I was here on a Sunday). And they have a nice outdoor space to enjoy our spectacular Oregon summers.

The new owners are incredibly friendly and expedient. The wind selection is fantastic and the appetizer selection was fresh and generous. We had so much fun exploring a few wines and eating 3 appetizers and didn't need to go to dinner after all. Thank you!

This pains me to write as this used to be my favorite wine bar in Portland. I came in last night for the first time since the ownership has changed, and while the flights were still good, I believe the pours may be a bit smaller. Two of the bigger disappointments, however, were the service and the charcuterie board. I loved the old combo charcuterie board; it was $25 and full of yummies including a variety of salamis. Now a combo charcuterie board is $36 and does not have as good of stuff on it. The service was extremely slow and once they got busy we waited awhile for a second pour. I did like the focaccia bread and olives.

Have been here many ,many times ... mostly for the jazz! Recently went in and ordered a glass of Chardonnay . Big beautiful glass arrived with a little taste in it! The new owners are now serving 3oz pours for a mere $14!!! Although the wine was good... c'mon people! No house wine options??? just 3oz or 5 oz ($25) pours!!!More food choices... got the charcuterie platter... cheese was great, meat was poor! But wouldn't order it again. Sadly one of my favorite places to hear music will no longer get my business .

Almost every wine here is delicious, depending on your taste preference. Who ever curates these wines know what they are doing! The snack plates are tasty as well. We've come back several times!!

I didn't think I could love Vino Veritas more, but here we are! Vino Veritas is my neighborhood wine shop. I've been dropping in for bottle purchases since early spring 2020 (when the pandemic struck). The guys who work here - all somms - are extremely friendly and helpful. If you like to talk wine, they'll chat you up and point you in the right direction. I stopped by for "dine-in" service for the first time recently and was pleasantly surprised to see a newly constructed patio out front! Very reasonably priced glass pours and the pick-three tasting flight for $16 is such a deal. The pours are very generous too. The combo board (cheese/charcuterie) is huge and has a really nice assortment. I'm told that they're weathering the patio and installing lights and heaters. I'm planning to come back more often this winter to enjoy the patio and give them all my money!

Stopped by for one glass of wine and absolutely loved the cute wine bar. The big windows can be fully opened so it changes into a nice continuous space with the street seatings. We missed the live music as it was getting started. Would love to come back and sit for much longer.

I came here today for happy hour with coworkers and fell in love with the cozy atmosphere, great HH deals with $6 red, white, or Rosé wines and well curated charcuterie and cheese boards. It's still a hidden gem and for most of the night, we were the only patrons which we didn't mind. Trevor, our host, was very obliging, especially when one of my co-workers accidentally spilled her almost full glass and replaced it free if charge. They have bottles for very reasonable prices (I bought a portuguese red for $11). There's also seating for small and medium sized groups. I loved the atmosphere here and will definitely return!

What a surprise! Very intriguing wine selection with the majority being a lovely selection of European wines. Yum! They have a nice open air deck/patio and wonderful service. I definitely will be back for more!

Fantastic little wine shop. They didn't have the specific varietal or AVA that I was looking for, but Trevor and the others were very friendly and suggested a great wine. The atmosphere is cozy and very comfortable. Jack Radsliff was performing out on the patio while we were there, which paired perfectly with the wine and vibe of the shop. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

Excellent little wine shop. Great happy hour. When they have it-go for the jazz for sure! They charge a very fair price on everything! They also have good beer on tap!

We stopped to check out this great little place during the Montavilla Street Fair last Sunday. It was extremely busy but they handled the masses very gracefully :-). The special was their house Sangria accompanied by a special street fair menu. The Sangria was awesome...great flavor with crunchy peaches (nice touch & tasty)! We weren't hungry but we talked to people beside us & they said the food was excellent. We will return for the full experience! Welcome to the neighborhood!!! An awesome wine bar is a great addition. What a great find. Knowledgeable staff to help you find the right wine. Good selection of glass pours, plus beer on tap for those that don't want wine. Welcoming space, fun vibe. Super clean bathroom - family friendly with amenities for the baby.

Birthday party win: ambiance, attention and flavor! Last month I booked a table for myself and 6 girlfriends to try a list of "earthy" reds. I gave Dana my budget, some party background and time frame; she was enthusiastic, prompt to respond and chose a delicious variety of bottles from around the world. We were greeted with a reserved, VIP fitting table and our Som was equally knowledgeable as he was charming. My guests were delighted by the range of price points and we all left with at least a bottle. Of the 4 birthday stops that night- this one was the winner. Thank you Dana- really looking forward to coming back!

My new favorite wine bar in Portland. They are knowledgeable without being conceited. Their prices are fair and their selection is unique. The kind red-headed fellow behind the bar listened to our preferences and made wonderful recommendations based on our answers. The only complaint I have is that I left without more wine than I did. As soon as I got home I wished for more of that affordable sauvignon blanc with the brightly-colored, geometric label. Because their prices are so fair, it's easy to walk out with one or more bottles after a tasting. I will be back. Thank you for a wonderful happy hour experience.

Awesome place to enjoy a glass of wine. The staff was super knowledgeable and accommodating. I tried the white bean hummus and enjoyed a few glasses of local Rośe which was perfect on a nice sunny afternoon. Along with the hummus and wine I loved the great music and vibes. I'm new to the area however felt welcome and at home. Most definitely will come back soon... like tomorrow. Turns out they are also new to they area but they seem like a perfect fit with the brewery, bars and restaurants within the same few blocks.

Stopped in here with my mom and good friend yesterday, it was perfect! Great service, generous! The white wine was delish. Great happy hour treats!!!

I give this place 3 stars. I came on Friday night to listen to music by Camron Morgan. He was great. Wine and cheese are good. My only complaint is the owner sported attitude... It's like when you love a band and then meet the lead singer, and he's a dick. It just ruins the experience. Same with this place.

The wine selection is epic. Also the service is excellent and the live music is the cherry on top! Great ambiance here!

Simply fantastic. Trevor and Miguel are lovely to talk to if you're just stopping in for some wine to go or if hanging on the patio for some snacks and a bottle. I have taken every friend I have here and they all rave for it equally. These guys deserve all the praise.

Knowledgable staff, great wine choices, wonderful ambience. And I really appreciate the live music hosted at least one evening/week. A great addition to the 'hood - I think they're in their second year. If you like wine and jazz, check it out!

Great new gem in the Montavilla strip between 81st and 78th and SE Stark. I've passed by multiple times with the live jazz flowing out into the street. A multitude of wines set apart by region. I had the best night here with some live music, great charcuterie, and wine. Worth the visit.

Great new addition to Montavilla! The wine steward was so accommodating and knowledgeable, taking the time to explain all of the wines we were trying (my group tried both the rose and red flights as well as some other full pours). We also enjoyed the cheese board and spread trio, both fantastic. We had no problems asking for a little more bread (at no extra charge), which was a great touch. Lots of space and various types of seating depending on how many people you're with. Well-priced happy hour from 4-6 pm and all day on Sundays. I'll definitely be back with friends!

I really enjoyed my little trip to Vino Veritas. It was a beautiful sunny day and at first I was a little bummed not to be somewhere with a patio, but I quickly forgave the establishment due to the excellent wine, delectable snacks, and laid-back, soothing atmosphere. No patio, but many tables and lots of space, so my group never felt crowded or overwhelmed by noise - in fact I'd say it was an ideal place for a ladies' night out (we even brought a baby, and got no dirty looks from anyone at all!). I'll also say that I usually equate "wine bar" with "pending budget destruction" but they offered flights and bottles at a very reasonable price, which was a welcome surprise. Really glad that it's in the neighborhood!

The team at Vino veritas are top notch. They recommend the most unique wines I've ever tried and will surprise you with stuff you've never even heard of. My favorite thing is to test my knowledge with one of their "mystery" tastings (they give you s sample and have to guess it). Support this business and drink wine!

Beautiful atmosphere, friendly and knowlegable staff, and an excellent charcuterie tray. You can buy bottles of wine, enjoy samples, or delight in occasional I've music. All day happy hour Sunday makes this a must visit.

I'm from Bend and stopped by while I was in Portland. This is a great addition to the charming Montavilla neighborhood. The wine selection is original, and the charcuterie and cheese board is generous. There are Happy Hour prices, but the wine and food are affordable enough to enjoy anytime, and both are excellent. The owners and servers are approachable and knowledgeable. It's a great place. I just wish it were in Bend (home of the brew pubs).

So excited to try a new place in the hood. Great wine selection, yummy snacks, but unfortunately the glass pours are very short. For 9.00 a pour I expect a full glass. Would go back, but order a bottle and forget the per glass pours.

So happy to have a wine bar in the neighborhood! Great staff and great selection of wines! Maybe they should come up with a punch card for their new favorite customers! Just a suggestion.

This is a true gem in Montavilla, a super cozy place with great live jazz on Friday and Sunday nights. The few times my wife and I went, the owner and his wife were there to greet and care for the guests. Their charcuterie and other boards as well as their paninis are really excellent and reasonably priced, even outside of their happy hour. Service is always friendly and knowledgeable, particularly of the excellent wines they serve. This has become our "go to" place for Sunday nights.

The wine steward was excellent but the wines I sampled were not. I tasted each of the red wines on offer by the glass and I was not impressed by any of them. It's a great space and a convenient location. I hope they will offer better selections in future.

This is a great little place. Knowledgeable and nice staff, great snacks and a nice bottle selection. A great spot to grab a drink before heading to the restaurants down the street.
