"Vino Vino is a great, neighborhood spot in Hyde Park. It feels like most of the people here just put their kids to bed and came by to chug a glass or two before anyone wakes up for a bathroom break. It’s usually not too busy, so it will work for you plus none, one, or your whole parent group. The cheese board and other snacks are a good complement, but the real focus here is the wine." - Adele Hazan

Loved the feel of the place. The food was great, the wine selection was very well done and the staff could not have been more friendly. A great place to enjoy an evening sitting at the bar enjoying time with friends.

This is not your average neighborhood bistro, Vino Vino is magnificent! We drove in from Cincinnati, for a 6PM reservation, on a Saturday night, and were immediately greeted by the friendly staff. Around 7 -730 PM, the restaurant filled up quickly. We ordered appetizers and vino, upon order arrival, our expectations continued to be exceeded. By the end of the meal we were planning our next visit.

The menu is to die for. I've probably eaten here 20 times and never eaten anything I didn't love. The people are typically very friendly and the cocktails are delicious. Try the baked goat cheese or mussels for an app and the Blackened Tuna Pasta or Blue Cheese Sirloin Burger plate for dinner!

One of my favorite places in the city, a nice, typically quiet place for carefully selected food. It's good all days of the week although I prefer the ambiance of weekday evenings. Pay attention to the daily specials.

Was here for a post wedding dinner and our service for the small group was excellent. Staff were accommodating and did a great job making sure we were never out of anything. Food was pretty good and had a great cocktail menu

Had a 6:30 reservation and was seated about 6:45. We were 10 mins late. After sitting a short time a server came by for drink order, no mention of name, specials, a welcome to vino vino. She brought the waters and walked by often. We only overheard of the evening dinner specials. We ordered an appetizer while we were deciding on our main course. They came within a reasonable amount of time but slow still. Then we sat for nearly an hour waiting for our dinner. My salad was drenched and wilted from too much dressing. We had to be somewhere and waited again for her to check with us about "whatever". We couldn't leave fast enough but were 40 minutes or more late. She apologized before the dinners even arrived, excusing the kitchen for being backed up. None of the workers or managers seemed to care that we had been sitting there while other tables came and left. It was horrendous. There are too many fine restaurants in Columbus, to have to put up with that again.

Google
The house white is unpalatable. The pizza is fine, toppings are well-conceived but the dough is without character and is overhanded before baking resulting in a relatively flat, homogenous disc. My most recent visit resulted in an aborted attempt at the parmesan fries, when presented they were both under and over cooked, depending on which one you ate. Will report back once I get a proper batch. Overall, it's a nice place to sit outside and have a bottle of wine, but I'm surprised by some inconsistencies in quality and approach.

Google
Sadly, the menu that I got when I Googled best wine bars in Cbus doesn’t match the actual menu…it’s a wine bar and they no longer even offer flights…I drove an hour. I doubt I’ll come again. Will say the staff is exceptionally friendly.

Yelp
First time in after mourning the loss of Figlios. We all liked the space. Our server had been at vino Vino for years and she was great. We were happy to see so many of our old favorite items on the menu. Everything tasted great. We'll be back soon

Yelp
So here's a little post pandemic secret about Vino Vino. Ready? OK, go: It's right next-door to Figlio in Grandview Heights (actually about a block north of the Grandview Heights border so it really sets in the city of Columbus, but hey, who's counting) Anyway, back to the secret! During the pandemic, or so a server who has worked there for 2 1/2 years tells me, Figlio and Vino Vino, combined into the same menu. What this means in practical purposes is that the food you get at Figlio right next-door, and at Vino Vino is the same menu! So if one of the restaurants is packed and you can't get a reservation, you can still get the same fantastic food right next door. How awesome is that??? Now, here's the big but (and who among us doesn't like a big but, right? (invoking my best Peewee Herman LOL)... Figlio and Vino Vino, while right next-door to each other, have a very different feel to their spaces. Vino Vino absolutely feels like a wine bar that serves food - while Figlio has the whole wood-fired brick kitchen vibe going on. Both Italian-American food in nature, in my humble opinion, but quite different dining experiences. Ample seating inside for such small spaces, and good alfresco dining available in the warmer months.

Ness S.

Yelp
This restaurant is under the same ownership as Figlio's and there are some similarities with the food. Unlike Figlio's, I haven't tried their pizza here so can't comment. For appetizers, we got the goat cheese and the mussels. They were both pretty decent, but, quite honestly, nothing special. For dinner we split the tequila chicken. The dish is quite large as even half the portion was more than enough. The dish was quite tasty but the sauce was a bit more creamy than I expected. Nonetheless, very good. For drinks I got the Yalo flight (3 flights of red wines, and I only liked one of them). I would probably give it 3 stars for good, but the ambience is lovely and the service was good, so overall 4 stars seems about right to me.

Elizabeth A.

Yelp
This place is super cute and I will definitely go back. The food was good - I had the salmon and asparagus risotto and I definitely recommend it. We had a larger group so high top we had was perfect. The service wasn't great-- our waitress was super slow which was strange because we were only 1 of like 4 tables in there, and when we would order a glass of wine I'd be wondering what was taking so long and look over and she'd just be leaning on the bar not doing anything. Strange.. but not terrible enough to drive me away for good.

Stacy C.

Yelp
Vino Vino is such a great hidden gem in Columbus. Small place but very quaint and romantic. Tonight we had the chicken and crab ravioli it was amazing. We also had the mushroom polenta which is a must to get every time you're in Columbus for an appetizer. We have a perfect little bartender named Danielle she was a sweet girl took such exceptional care of us. She was engaging, attentive and very fun to talk to so I will say whoever hired this girl did something right at Vino Vino. Great all around experience!!!!

Hua R.

Yelp
I was excited to check out Vino Vino during restaurant week.. while they were busy we were seated promptly, once seated kinda wished we would've asked to sit outside. Not sure if it was because they were so busy but I felt very crowded in the tight space of Vino Vino's dining room. Service was great, the waiter was attentive and friendly. Entrees came out a little early, which I would almost never protest food coming out too quickly, but we had just barely started on our salads.. most likely due to RW and the kitchen cranking out a standard second course. Food was tasty, we had scallops and the beef tenderloin; although dessert was amazing! White chocolate creme brûlée and a brûlée style key lime pie, yum!! While we enjoyed the food and good service, not sure we'd come back again simply due to their sardined ambiance as the dining experience felt too tight and enclosed.

Julie G.

Yelp
Love this place. Great atmosphere and service. Always busy so get there early if you don't have a reservation. I love that you can order from the Figlio menu (both restaurants share the kitchen). The wild mushrooms bathed in a marsala cream sauce on polenta is unbelievable, I ate two helpings! This visit was the first time I tried a Gluten Free pizza. I haven't had a lot of luck with GF crusts recently but Vino Vino excelled. A crispy thin GF crust topped with truffled portabella mushrooms, proscuitto and gorgonzola absolutely wonderful. Can't wait to have again.

Arya A.

Yelp
Came here on a Friday evening. Was seated promptly. Server was friendly. Wine was good, but perhaps a tad over priced. Food was also fine. Nothing to rave about.

Jordan N.

Yelp
The food was all great. I had the salmon and it was cooked perfectly. They also have a great wine selection. This is a more intimate dining experience perfect for a date. We had a larger group of 7 which they were very accommodating to. They even stamped "Happy Birthday" on our table cloth paper, just a nice touch. They also allowed us to use our own cake. We would've been okay being told no, but it was really nice for them to allow it. I'll be back for a date night!

Ryan W.

Yelp
Nice little Italian restaurant. Classy interior, with high tables across from the bar, where, if I'm not mistaken, they have wine on tap. The Cabernet is really good. Service was great. I ordered the chicken diablo, which is penne tossed in a spicy cream sauce with chicken and a few other things. The sauce was good; great amount of spice; however it was a little on the thin side, a little watery. The chicken had good flavor as well. The person I was with loved their ravioli with shrimp, and overall it was a positive experience. Would go back to try other menu items.

Leo F.

Yelp
7 of us came here for dinner,we probably ordered half the menu,we ordered apps.i never had mussels that small and salads had huge pieces of leaves and few small tomatoes,as far as main dishes they didn't impress us,rossetto tasted like it was premade few days ago, seafood pasta with 2 scallops and 2 shrimps had some kind of mix of spices with strong smell i couldn't really eat it. I think the best dish out all of them seafood stew, its not really stew its seafood pasta,we didn't ordered dessert .

Sara S.

Yelp
Food was delicious, 10/10 recommend the pistachio crusted chicken and the salmon asparagus risotto. Went for an anniversary dinner and the staff was super nice and the restaurant was romantic.

Rich L.

Yelp
Good food and a nice place to relax after a hard day at work. Happy hour prices are definitely reasonable for the drinks and food.

Yelp
From the owners of the popular Figlio restaurants comes a wine-bar in the European tradition... small plates, limited (but excellent) wine selections and cozy, tight-knit seating. I have eaten here about a dozen times, so needless to say, I really like Vino Vino. It is one of my favorite restaurants in Grandview for several reasons. The first being the ambiance. The restaurant is narrow and deep and can accommodate small or large parties. It has that sort of warm atmosphere that can be festive or romantic, depending on where you sit. The bar is almost always crowded, yet the wait for a table (usually) isn't too bad. I'd still recommend reservations if you prefer to go straight to a table. Waiting isn't a bad thing at Vino Vino because it' a comfortable place, especially if you enjoy just hanging out and sipping a glass of wine. I come for the food, which is stellar! In fact, when interviewed recently by the Columbus Dispatch, I said Vino Vino's wild mushroom and polenta is my favorite appetizer in town- and I stand by that. I'd drive across the city for that starter, but thankfully, there's plenty more to be had! I've had practically every entree on the menu, my favorites being the tuna, seafood pasta and crab cake salad. My husband and his friends swear by the trio of tenderloin sandwiches, which are so popular they sometimes run out. Being a wine lover, I appreciate the research and care that goes into the selection of the wines. The wine is served by the glass, bottle or flight, which are 2 oz. sample tastes of three different wines. It's a nifty way to try new wines before committing to a whole glass. Vino Vino shares the kitchen (and the restrooms) with the owner's original restaurant, Figlio. Vino Vino patrons may order off the Figlio menu (which is quite different), but priority is given to those dining in the actual restaurant, so the wait may just be a bit longer. Quite frankly, there is no need to digress from the wonderful Vino Vino menu. Vino Vino is the sort of place you envision having a romantic meal and falling inlove... if not with your date, at least with the food!

Yelp
Cute little wine bar in Grandview. We had dinner at Figlio and wandered into this connected wine bar for a quick follow up glass of wine. It is small and intimate. Good wine selection and specials. I had the wine recommendation for the night, it was very good - and I am a bit of a wino - so that is saying something. Looking for a good place to meet your girlfriends for a chat - or for an intimate date with someone special? This is perfect.

Yelp
Oh my, the cheese plate($9) is gooooood not the best cheese plate out there but I still like it. The pasta however is okay, not the best and not the worse- just average. The dessert though, quite good- tried my friend's and I give it 2 thumbs up!

Danielle F.

Yelp
I've been to Vino Vino a few times, and I've always been impressed by the excellent food. I just recently graduated from college, so being able to convince my friends to come to a restaurant with excellent food was usually a challenge because of the price tag that normally accompanies it. However, because many of the plates at Vino Vino are considered "small plates," it's very easy to enjoy excellent fine food without an intimidating check (of course - none of us ever came for wine - I'm sure that could make a huge difference). It's been awhile since I've been, but I remember having a cheese plate, a plate with three small beef sandwiches (with several dipping sauces), an unbelievably good chocolate walnut brownie, a risotto, and the brie bruschetta. I was pleased with every plate. Unfortunately, the restaurant is very crowded - lots of small tables make a veritable maze in the dining room - and I recall that there has always been quite a wait time for food and service. This is something to keep in mine - not a place for the claustrophobic or those in a hurry (the crowded space did make people watching fun). The food, however, is always excellent.

Fred B.

Yelp
Small. Crowded. Loud. Interesting people watching. A foodie place. Great food served mostly in small plates. From the same people that own Figlio's. A VERY interesting wine list chosen by someone who REALLY loves good-but-not-outrageously-expensive wine (I've found NUMEROUS new bottles of wine there that I love enough to go buy at a wine shop and take home - and I really like wine and am a trained wine judge in a large regional competition). If you're going on a weekend, get a reservation...

Yelp
You really can't go wrong here. I have tried everything on the menu and have not been disappointed once. The quality and value can't be beat. The mussels in jalapeño broth is my favorite! It's not too spicy and dipping the bread in the broth at the end is wonderful. The wild mushroom appetizer is also amazing. The cocktails are top notch and my go to here is a dirty martini. The bar is beautiful, romantic and a great place to go on a date without breaking the bank. Drinks and two appetizers seem like the perfect amount if you're not hungry enough for one of their amazing entrees. You can go here dressed up or casual. A Grandview gem!

Serena H.

Yelp
Is this place any different from Figlio's? I came here for an interview dinner, and all the food (ALBEIT DELICIOUS) was the same as Figlio's. Well, whether it is or isn't I can tell you that the food here is really something. I had the mushroom pizza (2/2 times now) and both times it has been delicious. A perfectly baked crust (I believe they have a legit pizza oven, close to what I dream of having one day when I'm a grown up finally making money rather than borrowing), showered with mushrooms and bacon (crisp proscuitto?) and touched with truffle oil. I would get it for a 3rd time. The atmosphere is perfect for a nice dinner here and there, and they even have a few local beers on tap! +1 for you, Vino Vino!

Chris S.

Yelp
We meet another couple for dinner here and had a very enjoyable meal. The menu offers several interesting choices without being so extensive that you know things aren't made in house. We started with wine from their list of good wines by the glass available at good prices. I chose to continue my exploration of the classic cocktails and ordered a ginger old fashioned. Great drink. Each couple shared a salad and we also had the same two entrees (not very good planning for a reviewer). A seasonal specialty of a deconstructed chicken pot pie was very nice. Two per crust disks were layered with chicken and vegetables which were nicely seasoned with thyme and other herbs. I liked it a lot, but would have liked just a small amount of gravy in the meat and vegetables layer. Two of us had the pistachio crusted chicken which was as good as many reviewers have noted. We shared the chocolate brownie dessert four ways and really enjoyed it. A warm brownie was topped with ice cream and whipped cream, complemented with a fudge sauce and accompanied by a lacy chocolate caramel tuile-like confection.

Anya D.

Yelp
Very elagant and romantic. Its a quite wine bar perfect for a date. The menu had a small selections but very appealing, get service and food tasted beyond amazing. Very clean atmosphere!

Tash L.

Yelp
5 stars all the way! I've been here twice in the last few weeks and both times, I've left with a smile on my face. The first time was for drinks. Each person in my party ordered a different flight - all were a great value but the white was perhaps the best "bang for your buck". The second time we visited was for dinner. We fortunately made it in time for happy hour so we ordered off both the happy hour menu and the regular dinner menu. Everything we ordered was on point. The star of the meal, however, was the pistachio crusted chicken - a large plate of mashed potatoes, green beans, and melt-in-your mouth, flavorful chicken. For dessert, we ordered the creme brûlée flight - a trio of three equally delicious but unique creme brûlées. We still can't decide which of the three we liked best...guess we'll just have to go back and try them again! ;)

Keith H.

Yelp
Really good apps and vino. Service was good. My entree was beef tenderloin but the first serving was rare and actually cold in the middle. So it went back. The second time it was spot on. My wife's meal was the chicken encrusted pistachio. Good as well. Mashed potatoes were really good. Would glad to be back at this place.

Stephen P. M.

Yelp
Easily one of the worst dining experiences I have been unfortunate enough to have to suffer through for some years now. My wife and I look forward to celebrating our anniversary with dinner at VinoVino all year, but no more. The ambience was horrible, the noise level approximately that of a jet fighter taking off laced with shrieking laughter at full volume of drunken louts. My beef tenderloin, that I had come to expect to be exceptional, was tough and contained gristle. I specified "HOUSE RED", not once, but twice, echoed by my wife. I was flabbergasted to to find a charge of $22.00 for two glasses of wine on the bill. If that is the cost of a house wine, I shudder to think of what they would charge for a glass of good wine. The final bill was over a hundred dollars. While I am more than happy to pay for excellent food, good service and ambience, this experience did not meet any of those criteria. It is rather unfortunate that negative stars are not available.

Christine P.

Yelp
One of my favorite standbys in Grandview! Always great service and consistently tasty food. A nice balance on the menu of keeping popular dishes and updating seasonally. Kat takes great care of you at the bar.

Eric K.

Yelp
'Meh' is the exact word I would use for everything about this restaurant. My wife and I tried out Vino Vino for the first time last night and was overwhelmed with 'meh.' The overall brand simply lacks refinement. The website is out of date, the menus are poorly designed, not to mention the server seats you with literally 5 different menus on a very small table that is very close to the table next to you. Our server was very meh as she did not really offer a lot in terms of wine knowledge. She was kind and friendly, but may have been better suited in a chain restaurant filling orders in lieu of creating an experience. We both order wine flights and they are served with a small snippet of printer paper with really bizzarre descriptions of the wine that did not match up to the actual profiles of the wine. I'm not a big wine drinker, but my wife said that her wine tasted old. The "crabcake" is the only thing that wasn't meh about our night. It was an absolute JOKE. The server noted that it was small, but it came out smaller than a half-dollar coin next to a piece of cauliflower that rivaled its size. The crabcake was soggy and did not taste fresh. One bite for each of us and it was over. My wife ordered the Linguine Diablo and I ordered the Mushroom Ravioli. Vino Vino promised scallops in her Linguine Diablo. We found only one. They also put dried chilis as a garnish on the plate, but forgot to incorporate them into the dish as it was bland and had no spice at all. The Mushroom Ravioli was a few small raviolis DROWNING in garlic olive oil. It was just so heavy...very unrefined and embarrassing. Stay away from the dessert. We got the Key Lime Brulee Tart and it tasted just like the cardboard box it was pulled out of. They thankfully took this off of our bill as we literally could not stomach it. We went across the street to Matt the Millers afterwards so the scotch that I ordered could reset my poor taste buds. People should take this review with a grain of salt because it seems that there are more good experiences than bad ones here and I hope that we just got unlucky. However, dropping $90 during happy hour and getting this experience in return was enough convince us to never come back here for a second chance.

Anne F.

Yelp
Great location on Grandview Ave in heart of Grandview Heights. Nice patio. Love the Bibb salad and fish tacos! They have great happy hour prices! You can get small plates and drink for around $10 during happy hour.

Will K.

Yelp
My favorite restaurant in town, good atmosphere reasonable prices, and the corn chowder is fantastic. I like the diversity of options on the menu and the staff are always friendly. Perfect for a date night.

Yuming Z.

Yelp
Have visited twice. Both times met with great service. First time did the Columbus Restaurant week prix fixe menu, second time ordered off of the regular menu. Off of the regular menu we ordered the Hummus and a beet salad as starters. No complaints on either. For Entrees we ordered the pistachio crusted chicken and the truffled mushroom pizza. The chicken was good, but the orange chili drizzle was a bit sweet for my tastes. The pizza was better, however a bit on the salty side but my date had no complaints. Food overall each time was excellent and service was good. One small gripe during the restaurant week our server disappeared for a while probably on break, we didn't have service for about 10-15 minutes when we were looking to get the check. The inside is very cozy/cramped depending on how you view it. Also the crowd skews towards an older crowd it seems, so don't come here expecting a young hip crowd, but a great date spot.

Regina Y.

Yelp
Boyfriend and I went for Valentine's day. Friendly staff, the environment is very quaint and cute. We got the bruschetta, trout, and beef tenderloin. All was cooked perfectly and very good at a decent price. I got the wine flight and it definitely added to the quality of the dinner. Great place for a date!

Jessica D.

Yelp
An extension of Figlio, Vino Vino provides a milder vibe to the wine-o clientele. The hand-selected wine list is infallible, and the candid descriptions of the wine are spot-on. Pair your wine with a selection from a smaller, but definitely not lesser in quality, food selection, and you have the perfect date night. Wednesday touts a pretty divine deal, $9-$10 for a pairing of three reds or whites of your choosing (!!!), from any wine sold by the glass. I embarked into new wine territory--exciting!!--using this little Wednesday special. I tapped into Chile, Australia, and Italy's wine selection last night. Unfortunately, during the week, Vino Vino stops serving at 9--a bit early in my opinion. But the quality of food and drink is sublime, so I won't hold VV's hours against them. Additionally, the patio is a nice touch--if you can get a table. The patio area a tad small, but arriving later in the evening definitely gives you the advantage in snagging a table.

Sarah H.

Yelp
This is NOT a tapas bar. the small plates are appetizers. you can't make a meal out of them. they are thing like cheese and bruchetta and soup. Tapas are spanish small plates, with things like quail and lamb and mushrooms and more substantial things that you can make into a real meal. I would not say that is true about the small plates here. I would say that the food is closer to an american/italian/mediterranean style. They have a handful of pastas and pizzas, and then some meat entrees. I had a blackened tuna pasta, which was seared and peppered rare tuna with spinach linguine and vegetables, in a puttanesca (caper/olive/tomato) sauce and feta cheese. it was delicious! very unique combination of flavors. my boyfriend had the beef tenderloin, which was perfectly cooked - presumably sous vid, given the beautiful even cooking. We shared a cheese plate, which while not adventurous, was tasty and generous. The prices are very reasonable given the high quality of the food. The service was fantastic. our waitress was attentive, friendly, and courteous without being pushy or annoying. she gave us time to choose out a bottle of wine. lowest priced bottle is $27, most are around 30-40, then there are some high-roller wines too. I like that it is a very diverse list of wines! and the descriptions are really helpful. The timing of the food coming out was great - as soon as we finished the cheese plate, our entrees came out to us. The crowd on New Years Eve was very, very young given the grown-up vibe of the restaurant. the average age was, 28 +/- 4 years. which was fine with me, but also kind of odd. I wonder if it is always like that. i will say that the menu is pretty small, but I think it rotates pretty often. I can't wait to check out their sister restaurant figlio!

Brent B.

Yelp
One of my favorite restaurants in Columbus. We had a 9:30 reservation but didn't arrive until almost 10pm. The restaurants were getting ready to close but the staff encouraged us to stay and they to excellent care of us! Great service and wonderful food, the perfect combination for a winning restaurant.

Paul F.

Yelp
I stopped last night for happy hour and to have dinner. I started off with the crab and corn chowder and the crabcake. Both portions were REALLY small. I've been to a lot of happy hours and the premise is that they serve regular portions at a discounted price. Vino Vino serves much smaller portions at prices designed to make them as much profit as possible. I also had two glasses (3 oz) of the house wine. That's $6 for a normall glass of wine. I decided to overlook the portion sizes and order the three filet sandwiches at the regular price. What I got was chopped steak making it impossible to tell if it were filet or just plan ground chuck. I have NEVER been served chopped steak and had it called filet. Naturally I refused the order and asked for my check. That was enough for me.

Yelp
Wine flights and small plates Make this cozy Grandview spot Catnip for women.

Josh S.

Yelp
Had my anniversary dinner here and everything was exceptional. Great service, great food, great wine, and a great atmosphere. We sat on the patio overlooking Grandview Ave and really enjoyed the evening. I had the Chicken and Red Pepper Pasta along with the asparagus bruschetta, both were phenomenal. The wine selection is great as well as the walnut brownie with coffee ice cream we split for dessert! All of this was amazing and the price point is very good for a restaurant of this caliber.

Dee C.

Yelp
Amazing. I don't always frequent the Grandview area and last time I visited this spot, it was Figlio. I dined again tonight and was impressed with everything. Service was great. From the host who greeted me to our server to the gracious chef who pointed me in the right direction of the women's restroom -- impeccable service. I tried one of the wine flights, and because I was driving, it was all I could handle, but I can tell you: if you're a wine drinker, they have a very nice list. I did enjoy the idea of their flights which isn't always offered at restaurants and it was nice. For dinner I ate the parmesan crusted chicken which was to die for. Granted, I was starving by the time I fought my way through traffic, but the food was damn delicious. My only regret is not making room for an appetizer. My dining companions and I decided to split some desserts. We ordered the "Voodoo" Brownie and the Key Lime Tart. Both were quite good. The tart had the perfect tart - sweet taste that went well with the crunchy pie crust. The brownie was well intended for your sweet tooth but not overwhelming. The presentations were nice too. Lovely--can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Ever had one of those meals where the person you were with ordered all the right food and you just ordered all the wrong food? This is what happened here when I went with my husband. We got a few appetizer salads; mine was being sold as salad with corn and a peppercorn dressing when it was really just a caesar salad with three corn kernels, but my husband's was amazing! This continued on to the entrees. I ordered the crabcakes and was extremely disappointed. Not only did it come with the weirdest creamy stewed tomato side, but the crabcake was not flavorful in anyway. However, my husband ordered the seafood pasta special and it was fantastic! He's such a good guy and gave me plenty of scallop, shrimp, and salmon bites since I didn't want to eat my own entree. Dessert was where I finally ordered right. I got the key lime tart and it was oh so good. I got it to go and nibbled on it for two days, not wanting it to be gone. We did have a quite a scare when it seemed like they were going to sit a family with two toddlers next to us, but we sighed in relief when they sat them in the back. We could still hear them however, but it didn't ruin the meal. If they had been sitting next to us, we would have been miserable. We'll definitely go back again since my husband LOVED his meal, but I'll be sure to not order the crabcakes.

Yelp
True to my word, I gave Vino another spin last night. J and I were celebrating 6 months together, so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to test other Yelpers' descriptions of Vino as a great romantic spot. The verdict after round two? I'm afraid I'm going to have to sit at 4 stars. Granted, our evening had a few 5-Star moments, but these were dragged down just a notch by a couple of others. For starters, when we walked in, the room was hopping, the bar packed, likely with happy hour hangers-on. We'd made a 7:00 reservation, but no one was there to greet us. This being our first time dining inside, I'm not sure how this is typically handled, but we ended up sitting at the last two seats at the bar and waiting for the bartender's attention to ask him about getting a table. Call me old fashioned, but I feel like taking the time to make a reservation indicates that I want a special experience and the best seating available. I should've been more specific when I called. There's a lovely back room with low tables where the atmosphere is a little more intimate. I expected that's where we'd be seated; instead, the bartender took as right across from the bar to a high bar table, sandwiched between two occupied tables. If I'd been here with friends, that'd be one thing. This would've been a fine spot for seeing and being seen and people watching and letting loose. So - lesson learned: Be specific about where you'd like to sit. Your experience will depend on largely on this. While the backroom was softly lit, the bar area (this struck me the moment we walked in) was very bright. The overhead track lighting was turned up too high (like they hadn't lowered it from the day setting), and I actually had to give in and ask our waiter to turn them down. (To his credit, he happily and quickly obliged, despite the fact that I felt like a snob for asking). Our server, in fact, was thoroughly attentive, especially considering we decided to try three flights with small plates interlaced. He also kept the water coming and made himself available without being overbearing. Having read the other Yelp reviews before I left, I decided to test some of their comments. The mushrooms everyone raves about? I love mushrooms and I REALLY love some polenta, and the dish was tasty. However, it was also a little butter-heavy and the polenta was not the best caliber I've ever tried, so while I liked this appetizer, I'm not sure I'd rave about it or even order it on our next visit. On the whole, the food was good but not write-home-about-it fare. As to the menu, the owners descriptions of both wines and food are clever, beautifully descriptive and frequently anecdotal. I loved this aspect of Vino's charm - keeps the place from feeling stuffy. I like a restaurant that doesn't take itself too seriously. Vino offers an ever-rotating selection of wine flights, crafted by the owner. We decided to forgo the bottle service, and try out all three of these. Turns out the final flight, "Trying New Positions" (and the priciest, go figure) was our favorite - one cab, one cab franc and a shiraz, all uniquely flavored, interesting selections. So - to recap: Do your best to indicate where you'd like to sit. Don't freak out when the mushrooms aren't "to die for." Try a flight (or two or three) to discover new wines you dig, and rest assured you will at the very least have great service. (To top off a fine evening, our waiter ran after us to return the scarf I'd left on the back of my chair. The extra care was not lost on us). ~a

Yelp
I LOVE Vino Vino. The menu is much simpler than its' neighbor, Figlio, and the dishes seem to be higher quality. The bar and wait staff are really knowledgable of the wine and food and are always willing to take the time to answer questions/explain menu items. I also love the ambiance. It is small (cozy) but it feels really intimate when you're inside. I haven't met a dish I didn't like at Vino Vino. Try the wild mushroom appetizer (+polenta and marsala cream sauce) or the asparagus risotto. Also, a note for those with special dietary needs - They allow you to bring in your own dough or pasta (especially helpful for celiacs or vegans). They know exactly what's in their stocks (whether animal or gluten products) and they can modify anything on the menu.

Yelp
I love this little restaurant. The seating is close and intimate, but it reminds me of Europe. It has a very warm feeling and place you can really enjoy the food and wine. A great to place to go on a date or a night with the girls. Love the flights of wine and the stories and description that accompany them. The Mushroom Risotto is amazing! Mushroom Ravioli is also great.

Yelp
I am going to focus my review of Vino Vino on their happy hour, as that I why I went there. Vino Vino, next door and owned by the same couple that owns Figlio, was a very charming little place. There are several outdoor tables and the inside a cozy. Their happy hour is just that, one hour, from 5-6. The specials are $3 for 3 oz. wine pours of house white or red and several $3 drink specials such as cosmos and martinis. They also have $3 personal pizzas and a handful of other appetizer selections such as soup and salad. I did not order food, but my companions ordered pizzas and enjoyed them. While we were disappointed that the happy hour only lasts from 5-6 (I had thought it was 4-7 from previous reviews), the specials were extremely reasonable and the waitress made sure to ask if we wanted anything from the happy hour menu right before time was up. She also let us order several rounds at once and items for people who were on their way so that we would get the happy hour pricing. All-in-all it was a nice happy hour, I just wish it lasted a little longer.

Yelp
I stopped in a while back with a group of friends for happy hour. I was excited to see the $3-$4 food and drink menu. I ordered a Martini, salad and a 6 inch pizza all from the happy hour menu. The food itself was pretty good. I thought the pizza was a little burnt, though. The Parmesan Peppercorn salad was awesome! My drink was perfect. My one big complaint was the portion sizes. The deals seem great at $4 a plate, but the portions are SO small. Luckily, I wanted to try more than one thing and ordered two items off the menu, so I was filled up. My boyfriend, however, was not happy with his size. I definitely want to try the regular menu though. The servers and owner were extremely nice. I would definitely stop in if you get the chance!

Yelp
I've always liked Vino Vino but I've recently discovered their incredible happy hour. If you've been put off from coming here because of the price (I admit, I think dinners are a little overpriced), then I have a deal for you! An expansive list of small plates for $3 or $4 tops my list of reasons why this is my new favorite happy hour in Columbus. Seared ahi tuna flatbread, salads, fish tacos... I can have a light meal here for what it would cost to get a fast food combo! Wine and some mixed drink specials (some martinis) are $3 as well. The small prices comes with a smaller size... smaller than your usual bar order. This is a plus in my book-- drinking slower, fewer calories, and I'm still able to have a full evening after a little unwind after work. I almost don't want to tell you how great it is, because the small dining room always has a seat for me at 5:30. If it gets too popular, it would be easy for this place to become overcrowded. Here's thanking the happy hour gods for putting Vino Vino on my path home from work.

Yelp
Very cool wine bar in the middle of many choices in the area. They have a very extensive wine list at all ranges of prices, as well as a full menu. We went for a bottle of white and a few appetizers to split over girl talk, and it was perfect. Their bruchetta was very very good, and had some sort of fruit with it (apples? pears?). The dining area was pretty small inside and an even smaller area on the patio outside. We were able to immediately snag an outside table around 8pm on a Saturday. Overall, it was more of a restaurant feel than a bar feel, which I liked. We were able to chat without any overly loud background noise. This is a nice place for dinner and drinks without the crowd.

Yelp
I've been here maybe 8 times, and it's one of the most consistent places in Columbus. The menu is very approachable, the prices are reasonable and the food is great. They are known for some really good salmon dishes and the portabello mushroom ravioli is insane. My favorite place to sit is at the bar. The staff is always very attentive and if you're lucky and can grab the end seats at the bar, you're able to actually face each other and talk. Very cool! This place will always be in my usual rotation. The only drawback is the floorplan. It gets VERY crowded because it's a tight space. But the benefit of that is there is always good atmosphere.

Yelp
We've been looking for "the best food in Columbus" for 3 years, so Vino Vino was a long time coming. I can't overstate how satisfying the experience was. The staff is knowledgeable and diligent; the wine list is meticulous; the menu is elegant; and the food is perfect. I did say "perfect." Being a former Chicagoan, I'm nothing if not a pastime food critic. From the moment my wife and I set foot on Vino Vino's patio, each satisfied moment led to another. For starters, I had the Corn and Crab Chowder, and my wife ordered the Toasted Goat Cheese. Both dishes were unrivaled in the world of appetizers. The Chowder was rather small; and I am a big guy. When it arrived, I was a bit concerned; but I savored each drop, and would recommend it to anyone. The Goat Cheese was ridiculous in all great ways imaginable. The wine selection, while not expansive, was clearly very calculated. I was quick to presume that each and every bottle in their cellar is there for a reason, which the owners could likely recount on command. My wife's St. Michelle Chardonnay was -- without question -- the best Chardonnay I've sipped in my life (and I generally dislike Chardonnay). For the entree, my wife ordered the Pistachio-crusted Chicken, and I had the Seafood Linguine Diablo. Both dishes were beautifully plated, substantial, and downright delicious. Despite being much larger in portion, I found myself intentionally savoring each bite of the spicy Linguine. My wife's chicken was tender, flavorful, and very unique. After such an unexpected and fulfilling experience, it felt a bit strange to "just pay and leave." We felt initiated. Our server "hoped to see us again soon," and we're pretty sure she will.

Yelp
Great eats in Grandview! Delightfully cheap wine flights with thoughtful notecards from the owner detailing each wine. Our reserved table was waiting for us on arrival - no waiting :) Though busy, it wasn't crowded. Great atmosphere. We were able to take our time without feeling like we we're hold things up. As we were polishing off the mussels appetizer, our waitress brought over more bread to sop up the broth as if she had read our minds! A must visit for anyone looking to get out of the Short North
