POOR SERVICE I had a short layover in Detroit Airport and stopped by Vino Volo for a glass of wine. I sat by the bar and got greeted by the bartender. Three other customers were seated at the bar. After the greeting several minutes went by, while he was sweeping the floor and chatting to the other server. Then he finally approached me but turned towards the customers that was there already, when I arrived and asked if they needed anything else. They needed to close out so the waiter started doing that. So I left thinking he was not interested in serving new customers….. Disappointed.

Anthony was quick with his service and his wit! Pinot Grigio was delicious. Definitely highly recommend Vino Volo!

Google
We love Vino Volo! They have a variety of wine & cocktails to choose from for everyone. They have wonderful healthy menu options. We tried the the Chicken Pesto Sandwich. Highly recommend! Beonka, Alan & Baren were very friendly and kind. They are welcoming & made it hard to leave! Ten star review!

Google
Chris was super friendly and was pretty knowledgeable about his wines. The wine selection is impressive and well curated and I was able to try the delicious local Mawby sparkling white. We also sampled the Tenuta I Collazzi Super Tuscan Blend. It was really tasty as well. The music in rotation is very good. This was a perfect way to kill a few hours while waiting on our connecting flight.

Google
Went to this wine bar at the airport for a glass to relax and a small snack. Sat at the bar and the server Chris was awesome. Dancing, playing great music, super happy and fun. Four more individual women joined me at the bar and Chris let us sample a few other wines. We all needed to leave to board our flights but no one wanted to leave. Great experience. Food was great too. I had the cheese plate and tomato basil soup. Now I'm extra happy and relaxed for my 20 hours of flying 😁. I'll most definitely be back and hope Chris will be working.

Michele C was very kind and friendly and wanted to make sure she had my mocha made perfectly. This experience was a nice start to my vacation!

Google
Wines are just horrible. They pick wines with somewhat good names, but the bottles are open for hours and taste like vinegar.

Google
A lovely wine bar with good service and well-matched food. Staff was knowledgeable and helpful in directing me to a good choice. I can’t think of a time I ever looked forward to returning to an airport restaurant—- but I’m on my way to Detroit as I type this and I’m absolutely going a second time.

Yelp
Katlyn was amazing! My friend and I had a long flight delay and came to Vino Volo and she made the experience so wonderful. We ordered a bottle of wine and Katlyn was so attentive and friendly and we loved chatting with her. Tony was also fantastic!

Yelp
Great bartender and experience at the DTW airport. Pleasant experience. Definitely will stop again

Yelp
Coffee was undrinkable. I threw it out and went to Starbucks. Bill for coffee, a wrap and a juice was $32!

Yelp
If you're flying out of the Detroit Airport (DTW) or have a layover, this Vino Volo location is pretty good. It was busy, so service was a bit slower than I'm used to at a Vino Volo, but I'd still recommend going there as they're consistent with their wine flights (boom: there, they're, and their in one sentence). Like all Vino Volo locations, they have the $2 tasting if you're a member of their rewards program. If you're a Reserve Member, you get a complimentary amuse bouche which happened to have Marcona almonds at this location. Their wine flights are put together to compare and most are usually pretty good. I stick to the reds mostly but have done others too. They also have food if you want to eat, but I usually opt for other airport junk and just come for the wine. If I was flying through/from DTW, I'd totally stop here again. It's near the center of the 1 mile long terminal and close to the express tram escalator.

Yelp
3.5 might be better suited. But I'm grading it on a curve because decent airport food is so hard to come by. The food was great. Tomato basil soup and the chopped salad were both really good. Knocking a star off because the service was soooo slow. Almost every person was either waving down one of the three servers or going up to the bar to order their food, order more drinks or close out. The servers were kind and pleasant, but just way too slow. There couldn't have been more than 4 tables per server so I couldn't imagine when this place is busy. Great place to enjoy food at an airport but only if you're not rushing.

Yelp
If you find yourself at the Detroit airport with a few minutes to spare the best place to grab a glass of wine is at vino Volo

Medard N.

Yelp
excellent selection of food and drinks for the consumers. The crew are excellent and very helpful to me.

Yelp
This wine bar/restaurant is in the A concourse of the Detroit airport. Expect prices to reflect the quality of the items and that it's in an airport. This is fine wine and great food. We had some time to kill waiting for our plane and stopped in for wine. Delicious! And a nice selection to pick from. The food that went by us looked awesome. I love finding places like this!

Yelp
So I really wanted a glass of wine during my layover, and this place did not disappoint! Even though it was a Sunday and they were about to close, they didn't treat me poorly for coming in close to closing time. Both bartenders were funny and talkative. I will say though, the wine is outrageously expensive. When I saw $17, I thought that was nuts. But, it was a great glass of wine I will say that.

Yelp
Wait...where am I? Detroit Metro Airport (DTW) has come a looooong way. I suggest you arrive early when flying out of McNamara Terminal and allow some time to mosey over to Concourse A and taste some delicious wine at Vino Volo. While they have a nice food menu, I wasn't hungry so focused on tasting some crisp, refreshing whites. Sauvignon Blanc, Alvarinho, followed by two Michigan whites...Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc from Mawby's alter-ego in Leelanau. Beautiful service and space.

Yelp
When Delta screvvs you over (and they inevitably will) stop by Gate 45 in the Delta terminal at the Detroit airport and bring back the positivity with a flight of wine and some burrata. The service here is excellent, as is the wine and the food. Michigan wine is trash, but no worries, they have offerings from both domestic and international regions. Yay!
google avatar

Yelp
A lovely, calm oasis in the airport. Great wine, priced the same as bad wine at other airport restaurants, and truly unique food items. I had an amazing CA chardonnay that paired perfectly with the Mediterranean board - olives, hummus, goat cheese, cucumbers, Naan. Such an unexpected treat in an airport! Staff was really friendly and fun. Stop in. You won't regret it!

Yelp
Love be stoping at a Vino Volo when I'm in an airport. This one is located in the McNamara terminal around gate A40. The cellar tastes are a great way to try new wines for $2. You simply download their app and you're a member. They have flights of wine for every palette and budget too. I was pleasantly surprised to see they added more veggie friendly options. I ordered the lentil soup which was delicious and the kale salad which was a little tough.

Yelp
Great food and atmosphere in every location I've been to. Doesn't feel like an airport business. This restaurant and wine bar would be at home in many main streets throughout the US.

Yelp
I wish I knew my waiter's name, very knowledgeable about the Montrell wine I had. Ordered the hummus platter. Very simple. Yet very tasty. Everything was fresh. The wine was a simple dry red wine that I'll most definitely be trying again.

Yelp
Stumbled upon Vino Volo while walking through Terminal A al Detroit Metro. What a great place to sit and relax waiting for your flight. The wine list is very extensive. They also offer flights that are pretty reasonable and not bad pours. I chose the Fireplace Reds flight, which included Sryah, Dolcetto, and Cabernet Sauvignon for $15. I did not have any food but the menu looked very good with items such as Beef & Bison chili and Brisket & Avocado salad. Plus they play great jazz, big band music through their sound system. Awesome waitress who explained everything and could carry two 3 glass flights to our table. Impressive!

Penny S.

Yelp
Don't order the chopped salad. I had a very bad experience with the iceberg lettuce. I was sick for 2 full days once I reached my destination. The lettuce was bad. Perhaps they should use a greener lettuce in the chopped. That would be my suggestion to Vino Volo.

Yelp
Detroit Airport is on the Nice List! After chilling here for an hour I'm sure Detroit Airport asked Santa for a kick ass place that would level all other airport drinkeries and eateries and I see it was handsomely rewarded. Well done Santa, well done. I can see myself arriving early here just to stop in. I had the brie and proscuitto on ciabata with fig preserves, OMG Vo-licious!!!! To go with they had flights of all colors, flavors and price ranges. I selected was the "South of the Equator" and it was fantastic. But here is the kicker...It's affordable! They have half portions of all the food and the flights were between $10-15. I got outta there for only $18. That's unheard of for airport eatering! Merry Vino to all and to all a good flight!
google avatar

Joann B.

Yelp
I really love this chain - it's a great place for me to chill when I am stuck in an airport such as Detroit Metro. The set-up is somewhat small, but there is a decent amount of wine and there are various snacks and entrees to choose from, as well as a few desserts. Their charcuterie board has a good selection, just ask for extra bread/crackers. I don't know how often the meat and cheese options rotate, but I don't think anyone could go wrong with this. It's all good! I like their wine flight options, but if you travel a lot, and you find yourself at Vino Volo often, your selections are quite slim. The service at the three Vino Volos I've been to, are pretty much the same - servers weren't overly attentive, but you don't have to wait long for some assistance. Their wine selection is worth trying and if you have some time to kill, I'd definitely be heading to Vino Volo.

Yelp
I cannot say enough about this place!!!! If you are ever in DTW and have the opportunity to take time to park and indulge, this has to be the place! The staff is AMAZING and are ready to take you on the wine journey...don't resist!! Let them guide you through the immense inventory of GREAT WINES!!!! As a frequent visitor, I whole-heartedly recommend this place!!!!

Yelp
Vino Volo is located next to gate A46. It is a must stop! I really like the wine flights offered but they also have wines by the glass, a food menu, and even three Michigan beers to choose from. My favorite Michigan beer so far has been the Whitsun ale, a take on the Bluemoon with hints of orange peel and coriander. The shades of white wine flight is three samples of white wine for $14. I enjoyed all three! If you love them so much you can even buy a bottle! There is seating at the bar with outlets to charge up for that long flight or take a seat at the many tables offered inside. You can even join the loyalty members club if you travel here frequently, take a look at my chalkboard picture.

Yelp
Stopped in today due to a delayed flight. Thankful now for that delay! The staff are delightful, discussing wines back & forth. Very friendly, cheerful & restful place. Lovely wine list with good prices (my tasting flight for 3 wines was $14), especially for an airport. Would love to come back & try the food next time I'm passing through.

Yelp
THIS PLACE IS NOT CLOSED! I was stuck in the McNamara Terminal much longer than previously anticipated due to runway traffic back home in New Jersey and was lucky enough to have this little gem right by my gate. Yes, it's small. No, there isn't a pretty view to look at (unless you like looking at bottle upon bottle of wine, like me ). But the wine is priced reasonably considering it's an airport restaurant and they have a great variety of bottles with knowledgeable staff to help you select the perfect one to take on your travels. Me, I like Spanish reds and New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs best as a general rule, both of which happened to be available by the glass. I was well-attended at the bar and much happier relaxing there with my wine and cheese than I would have been sitting at the gate for 3 hours. I even managed to get a nice little buzz and zonk out for the entire flight home!
google avatar

Yelp
Very small tables, refused to make any adjustments to menu, very small amount of food for a $23 charcuterie board....large selection of wines by the glass....but $$

Yelp
This elegant wine bar is a must stop at the Detroit Airport for those of us who enjoy good wine along with tapas. It is by gate A43. The interior is cozy, boutique-ish and the service is very friendly. The music is well selected and slow. Wines are delightful and reasonably priced. Especially their three-wine flights. They also have a small tapas menu that has items like smoked salmon rolls, tacos, almonds, olives, greens, cheese, sandwiches, ... The only downside is the lack of free Internet at the DTW, but that is not Vino Volo's fault. Try the "New World sampler" (a great deal from South America) with the smoked salmon rolls. Mixed greens with goat cheese are good, too, but they could be more fresh (I tried them twice; the second time was less fresh than the first). You will forget that you are in an airport and may start fancying being in an elegant wine bar in the downtown of a cosmopolitan city -- you would almost be right, until you miss your flight. So, keep your time in check; set an alarm. For a somewhat-hungry frequent traveler who enjoys a glass of wine while making her connection, Vino Volo is a cozy haven (I was there two days in a row!). You can also buy wines here to take home or to friends. We need more such places in airports: winy, cozy, elegant, friendly. Kudos to those who acted on the concept and also to the knowledgeable, friendly bartenders who serve here.

Yelp
I had a flight canceled on me and that left me with an unexpected 3 hour delay at Detroit Airport. That left me with some time to kill and there's only so much shopping you can do at Brooks Brothers. I settled into Vino Volo and enjoyed a wonderful flight of Sauvignon Blanc wines with a delicious mac and cheese finished with truffle oil. Not the cheapest place to kill time - but it is definitely comfortable, food choices are great and the wine selection by the glass is pretty nice too.
google avatar

Yelp
Terrible service and weak pours. Way overpriced, even by airport standards. Avoid like the plague, this place will leave you broke and thirsty. Perhaps if you're late for a party and have a hundred dollars to blow on a $20 bottle, then, maybe consider this place. Otherwise you're better off anywhere but here. A detriment to the DTW scene; no bueno.
google avatar

Yelp
I have a craving that I just can't satisfy, because the nearest place I can get this fantastic Chickpea and Chorizo Chili dish is in Sacramento. That's not where I tried this delectable dish, though. On my trip home from the Inauguration (yes, Obama's!), I had a layover in the Detroit airport, and I walked around looking for a nice place to eat, trying not to cave in to my usual travel comfort food craving (McDonald's). Vino Volo looked like a great place for lunch, and I was not disappointed. The chorizo and chickpea chili was so good that I bought one 'to-go' to bring to my parents in L.A. so that they could try to figure out the ingredients. I also had a prosciutto and fig jam sandwich that was marvelous, and a flight of red wines to go with my meal. If you have a layover at the Detroit Airport, I recommend you sit down and take some comfort here...and take home a bottle of wine with you as a souvenir. Now, if they could just open one at LAX...
google avatar

Yolanda R.

Yelp
If you want to try new wine and you are traveling. This is the place to go. Great service and a very good selection of wine. DTW Delta terminal has outdone themselves with this place!!!
google avatar

Alysia B.

Yelp
A great "go-to" at the airport. Vino Volo is at most airports I've been to. Almost always on business travel. There is room to sit by yourself or with one other person, room to plug your laptop or cell phone in, and a decent menu for a decent price. Cheese plates, sandwiches, salads, deserts, and snacks. And of course ... Stellar wine list! Staff knows you're probably there to work while you wait for your flight and leaves you alone but checks on you enough to order more if desired.
google avatar

Krista M.

Yelp
What a great way to have lunch at the airport! With a warm and inviting atmosphere and a friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff, I forgot that we were in the airport awaiting our flight home. Decent wine selection with some nice flight options. The food was great! The brie, prosciutto and fig jam sandwich was heavenly. The pork tacos were fun and delicious and the chicken sandwich was so so tasty. It's great to see that you no longer have to grab a burger in the airport. Looks like there is a location in JFK as well, so I'll have to check it out.
google avatar

Amanda M.

Yelp
As far as airport food, five stars all the way. Vino Volo is my go to food/ wine stop if I'm ever at the airport. While the food menu is small, everything I've ever had was delicious. My go-to is the Tuscan Chicken Sandwich and a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. The place itself has a nice ambiance and serves as a quiet getaway from airport noise, at least for a little while. The wine flights are delightful and pretty reasonably priced in my opinion. As an extra bonus, the staff at the Detroit Vino Volo were extra friendly and seemed to know most of the customers, almost like your neighborhood bar.
google avatar

Jamie S.

Yelp
Definitely the best food and drink option in Terminal A...it's located across from Gate A46. Prices are reasonable for food and wine...especially when considering its at the airport. Everything is tasty...the food options range from lamb meatballs to smoked salmon rolls to chicken sandwiches and more. Good music too. Definitely check it out! I wouldn't waste my time with any other food options in that terminal.
google avatar

Yelp
Not bad ---- I was stuck in the crazy Detroit Airport for over 3 hours ( thanks Delta you piece of dog shit ) Luckily I found this little gem after ridding the tram back and forth until I felt like I was going to go postal. After a few glasses I jumped back on the tram feeling just like a NY bum. AHHHHHHhhhhh airport wasted is great.

Yelp
DETROIT AIRPORT: I love Vino Volo: nice ambience, comfortable seating, tables and nice servers, and the food is great. It's my little airport oasis anywhere I go where they have a lease. The charcuterie board is good, the soups are good, the fish is good (salmon bruschetta) and the macaroni and cheese is awesome. Portions are a little small so bring your wallet. I can't comment on the wine, but they have many bottles, one is sure to be good.
google avatar

Jihye S.

Yelp
I have always wanted to try this place whenever I travel through Detroit, and I expected it to be better. It fell very short, especially considering the price. Service: Not good at all. It was slow and not attentive (seemed understaffed as the place was almost full.) One of them was much more friendly and prompt (he came once to check on us), the other was just not happy to be there. Grumpy, not interetested, and just not a good server. Not even once he came and checked on us. Not even a thank you when we paid. Food: Overall not good. The "signature" salmon rolls were almost pathetic-5 small crostini topped with mushy crab (although I really couldn't taste much crab or sense crab meat) and a piece of smoked salmon on top for $17? No thanks. If the crab mixture was better, maybe. But it was really so not up to what it's trying to be. Roasted tomato bisque was also not good. It was too sour, and there was not much hint of roasted tomatoes, either. Also it tasted more like tomato soup, not bisque. Not creamy at all. And the crostini that came with the soup were too hard. The sour cream on top didn't go well with the soup, either. Brie and prosciutto sandwich we got for our son looked slightly more promising, but I didn't even want to try at this point. Menu looked promising, but things were just not that great. Wine: My husband ordered a glass of Barolo. It was the only thing that was good. $13 seems ok considering it's at an airport. Atmosphere: ok. Not great. It is a bit crammed for the space. We paid $68 (with the tip), and I have had much better experience at other airport restaurants with the similar amount spent. We won't be returning.

Yelp
Very fast service for those connecting at Detroit airport and looking for a variety of wines and food. Quite small restaurant but great from the fast food choices. The salmon rolls were very very good and I would recommend.

Yelp
I'm a frequent traveler and a sucker for great airport restaurants. On a recent stop in Detroit, the Yelp reviews sent me to Vino Volo (across from A46) with little hesitation. Vino Volo, while nice, can't compete with my all-time favorite airport dining option: Atlanta's One Flew South. My obsession with OFS required some "getting over" to embrace the Vino Volo experience because they're quite different. At Vino Volo, you'll enjoy an impressive wine list and a severely limited menu. There's no doubting the fact that you're in an airport restaurant. It's tough to miss the signs. Like the waitstaff's name badges, the fact that everyone's tapping on iPads, and the omnipresent rollerboard bags. But, it's definitely a step up from the nearby Chili's Too. The menu is, as I said, limited. I asked about the Roasted Lamb Meatballs and was gruffly told they were out. I opted, instead, for the "signature" Salmon Roll, which was not so much a roll as smoked salmon and crab meat on a cracker. It was really good. And incredibly fast. In fact, I think it arrived in front of me milliseconds before I'd completed my order. While I didn't try them, the wine flights look interesting and would be an opportunity to try something new, which is definitely a worthwhile endeavor while on the road. Isn't that the benefit of travel?! Let's face it, expectations are dulled when eating in an airport so my four stars would be three in the real world. The "real world" is defined as someplace other than an airport.
google avatar

David S.

Yelp
Chris is the coolest! Very knowledgeable and offers great suggestions. Aaron is very helpful too. Great staff, great wine, great food. In that order.

Yelp
I had high hopes for this place, seeing as it was practically the only highly rated place at McNamara terminal. The space is very small and cozy. I walked in and the waiter told me to sit where ever I pleased. There are only about 8 tables that seat two, and the rest is bar seating (assuming 8-10 seats). I decided on the 3-piece smoked salmon dish ($11) and the California flight of reds (3 samples totaling a single glass of wine for $14). I watched as the waiter walked around the other 5 tables to ask if everything was okay. He went back and forth between these tables and I thought, he'll eventually make his way around to me. Nope. He hangs out at the bar, talks to his co-worker, then goes back to a table that he brought a check to. I get to the point where I am saying excuse me and trying to flag him down, where he acknowledges me with a single nod of "yes, I see you". He takes care of that table's check and continues to make his round of checks from where he left off. Mind you, the place was only half full and no one was sitting at the bar. The man two seats down asks for a glass of water and gets it right away. I ask for a glass of water plus an order of lamb meatballs (3 meatballs at $15), and 5-10 minutes later a server brings a bag to my table. Turns out my order was put in as to-go, and still no glass of water. I think I get the idea. Although I am in my business casual attire, I know I look a lot younger than most and I personally felt like I was discriminated against for it. I actually tip very generously (especially on corporate meals), but if your focus is on the older crowd then I will just take my generous tip elsewhere. My flight was delayed, so I'm going to find another place to have a drink. EDIT: I just read a review below that said she had the worst service ever here, and I too had the guy with the dreads. AVOID THAT GUY!

Yelp
Great spot at the Detroit airport! Made my layover very enjoyable. The staff was very helpful when choosing a glass of wine. Would def stop here again when passing through!

Yelp
Nice surprise for our lay over. Food was delicious and great wine for a reasonable price.

Yelp
It's gotten to the point that I actually go out of my way to have long layovers in the Detroit airport so I can come here. Yes, I realize it is ridiculous to give five stars to a chain. Yes, I am still going to do it. Vino Volo's pleasant interior, with clean, modern lines and comfy chairs, and its friendly service are a balm for the weary traveler. Come here to unwind on your way home, or to celebrate the start of a big vacation. The samplers are definitely the way to go. You get to try 3 unusual wines (no Yellowtail or Robert Mondavi here) and the menu changes often. There are fun themes like rosé and barbecue reds for summer; samplers from a particular region of the world; and even samplers themed around a price point ("value reds" if you want to share a sampler and then pick one glass to order, or "special" wines that you'd never get to try by the bottle or even by the glass, but here you can have a taste for a reasonable price). If you really fall in love, you can buy a bottle to take home. The last couple of times I've gone, I've tried the food and been bowled over by how good it is. Appetizer selections include marinated olives with herbs; Marcona almonds with rosemary; and a cheese plate. The main-dish items can be ordered as a half portion - great for sampling, and for the budget-conscious! Out of those, I've tried the smoked salmon bruschetta; the braised pork tacos with cabbage slaw on corn tortillas; the chickpea & chorizo chili; and the mac & cheese (made with cheddar, gouda, and truffle oil; topped with breadcrumbs). I thought the salmon rolls were a bit blah, but everything else was lip-smacking and mouth-watering. Next time you're at the airport, skip the $7-a-slice pizza or the $12 "salad" with suspicious ingredients, and just come here. With higher-quality food than you get at many restaurants outside airports, and prices that are actually lower than most airport food, why would you NOT come to Vino Volo?

Yelp
Things I'm still trying to get over: 1) The fact that I am writing a review of a business in an airport. 2) The fact that I feel so moved by something in an airport! 3) The fact that this place was in an airport! Like layover, connection miss miss, plane fly fly goodbye AIRPORT! But let me just say, Vino Volo is such an amazingly refreshing change of pace from the usual Junkfood Express style places you end up at while flying, because it tackles some tough questions-- like why NOT enjoy a beautiful glass of wine instead of a nondescript draught beer??? Why not some actually good (but still reasonably priced) food instead of a limp sandwich made and Saran-wrapped last Tuesday??! Really, no reason, except for precedent. F that! One thing I'm still deciding about is their decision to insulate the place from general airport announcements/ status screens. While I appreciate a break from the bustle to breathe and enjoy my vino, I kind of want to make my flight too. Tough decisions -- I guess I just can't have everything! But seriously though, even airport novelty aside, Vino Volo does a good job at being a straight up wine bar. An interesting array of options to choose from, with some cool, local and seasonally rotating features as well. As everyone mentions, the flights of three are a steal at $10-$15, and really possibly THE best way to spend a layover.
google avatar

Robert J.

Yelp
Okay, don't take the 4 stars to mean that I think this place is a great wine bar. I've only had one glass of wine there as part of a special. The little oxygen bar cum spa place next door had a little deal going on with Vino Volo for the holidays. One $10 glass of wine at Vino Volo and a 15-minute chair massage at the other place for $25. That's the extent of my experience with Vino Volo. So, I can't really comment on much more. So, think of my four stars as a provisional rating. Some of the stuff being sold there, I like. Notably, they have Dibon Demi-Sec Cava, which I love. The menu looks decent as well. Anyway, for me, the best thing about this place is that it exists at DTW, and it doesn't suck. If I had known that it were there, I wouldn't have eaten at the Burger King around the corner. Now, I know better. Another cool thing, I can buy wine there and bring it to my travel destination. Pretty cool!

Yelp
We were so skeptical about this place at first, but we relied on Yelp and gave it a try! We started off with the Sweetheart Sparkling Sampler for $11 (most samplers around $11-$15) which consisted of three generous samples of wines with descriptions and prices per bottle for each. The highlight of the three, in my opinion, was the champagne. Since Vino Volo specializes in wines, it only offers very few small tapas-style dishes, so I was bummed about that... so much so that I had to force the boyfriend to eat at another restaurant at the airport thirty minutes later. We ended up ordering the Brie & Prosciutto Sandwich (small, $6), Braised Pork Tacos (regular, $9), Artisan Cured Meats (small, $8), and Penne & Cheese (small, $6). Seems like a lot, but it really wasn't much because the portions were minuscule. The Brie & Prosciutto Sandwich was our favorite, however. The brie and fig spread complemented well with the delicious slices of prosciutto and crunchy bread. We liked it too much that when we got back to Jersey, we went to the store and made some. The other small plates, on the other hand, were just blah. Either it was too salty or just eh. Good thing we didn't totally blow our money on this place, but we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Yelp
Sitting here and ordering the Braised Porks Tacos. I said, "may i have the tacos?". Waiter says, "no" and walks away. I would love to say the service here is prentenious and rude, but I will provide the benefit of the doubt that it is just the individual. That said...some pretty serious wines are available...I am enjoying a 2005 CastelGiocondo Brunello Di Montecino. Not your usual Yellow Tail offering at Max and Erma's

Yelp
This place was an oasis at the airport. The seats were really comfortable. We needed that. The wine is overpriced, but that's expected. Even so, a couple glasses of wines in the lower priced categories and some relaxing conversation in comfortable seats. It was all good.

Yelp
Let's put aside the price. This spot is in the airport so it's going to be expensive. Accept that, get over it, and then go grab a seat - preferably at the bar. Kris and I had a 7:something flight from DTW to Amsterdam where we would be starting our European Adventure. We're both a little weird about flying... we don't really mind it but we convince ourselves that we're going to be nervous. Then we're fine. Weird, right? The good thing is, it gives us an excuse to drink. Usually that means some lame airport bar with horrific beer. Not this time! Vino Volo is a welcome change to the pre-flight drinking game. Wow. Sparse and chic, the bar offers just a few seats - I hope you're lucky enough to get one. We were able to sit at the bar and greatly enjoyed the two flights we tried - a red and rose. From there we each picked a glass (or three) to have after. The wine selection is great but, more importantly, the sommalier working the day we were there kicked ass. She was sassy, friendly, knowledgeable and fun. She not only guided us through the selections we made but also had advice for what to drink when we were in different cities on our trip. The food is limited but excellent - I strongly recommend getting olives and a cheese plate. The half sandwich is teeny but the perfect size if you're more in the mood for tapas style which is a great way to go. We will definitely be popping in here the next time we fly. Hell, we'll probably sneak in after we land and before we head back to Ann Arbor!
