Argentina: Chef Sebastián Weigandt’s Favourite Haunts in Mendoza

"I love going to VinoBien to try its wines, and I particularly recommend the tiradito of trout with a lemon reduction to accompany a glass of white wine from Viña Cobos, such as Felino Chardonnay; recognised in the Best of Mendoza’s Wine Tourism 2023 awards and run by sommelier Rodrigo Kohn, this vinoteca is one of the few offering labels from Mendoza as well as from across Argentina—including Patagonia, the Atlantic coast, and the Calchaquíes valley—and it’s worth booking a spot in the new underground cellar to taste some of the country’s best." - The MICHELIN Guide

What a great wine bar! Great range by the glass and by the bottle, and great service and knowledge not just of Mendoza wines but across all of Argentina. Mucho gracias Rodrigo!

Rodrigo was friendly, interesting and knowledgeable! We tried the wine tasting (4) plus a bottle of Cabernet Franc, and took a Syrah to go! The cheese and meat small plates were artistic and delicious, and the pumpkin dessert was the perfect ending to the evening.

Wow…. Best attentive service and real wine knowledge I’ve experienced in over a week in Mendoza. Miss this wine bar, small plate watery at your peril. Garcia Rodrigo and team!

We enjoyed tasting wines across the length of Argentina, learning much and forgetting our troubles. A lovely evening with gracious and knowledgeable hosts.

Rodrigo is the best!!! I can not say enough amazing things about him and his staff! He is so knowledgeable and was a world of information teaching us about wine!! He became a friend too as he was such a joy to be around! The food was out of this world. Get the steak and risotto !! The wine cellar downstairs is magnificent! Thank you Rodrigo and team- we will be back!!

Very helpful English speaking staff and a slightly overwhelming set of options for tastings, wine flights, wine pairings and led tastings. I felt that they could have been more up front about the costs of the various options hence the loss of a star but highly recommended for wine lovers. There are a selection of wines from Cruvinet at taste, half glass and full glass options. You are given a card and you choose your options and pay later accordingly. Wine selection by bottle is vast but without knowing the wines better it is hard to comment on prices except to say they seemed reasonable.
