Vinotecca Wine Bar Reboot Arrives in Birmingham This Week - Eater Detroit

"Longtime Royal Oak wine bar Vinotecca will be revived on January 26 at its new location in downtown Birmingham. The refashioned bar will feature a full accompaniment of wines including rarer selections offered by-the-glass thanks to a Coravin system that protects wine from oxidation, according to a release. The bar is also offering wine and cocktails on tap and ever-so-trendy frosé. In terms of food, diners can expect small plates and “world cuisine.” Additionally, the bar plans on hosting live jazz and blues in the evenings as well as wine education events for oenophiles looking to broaden their knowledge." - Brenna Houck

What a disappointment. The wine was good and the service was decent but the food made me sad. We ordered 2 small plates to start, if they hadn't been half off for happy hour I would have sent them both back. Hazelnut crusted scallops were $15 (regular price) and we got 2 TWO...yes 2 scallops. They were chewy, watery and bland. Clearly wet-packed, not a trace of brown. The tuna tartare was acceptable but came with these weird crumbly crackers that were not good. I ordered a la carte cheese, meat and olives. The prosciutto was inedible (cut too thick, had a thick rind on the outside) and it came with those weird crackers again, no other cracker was available. Despite being in season right now, melon was not available to go with the prosciutto. The Stilton was good. I would have loved to put that on a nice cracker. We also ordered a caprese which came on a bed of spinach with whole cherry tomatoes, small buffalo mozz balls and a drizzle of balsamic, unlike any caprese I've ever had and not in a good way. I'm surprised this place is still in business.

Great place for a date night or night with girl friends. The staff are very knowledgeable of the wine selection and the atmosphere is romantic and quaint. It is a bit expensive but for an after dinner drink, it is worth the experience. My fiance and I love it here!

I went during restaurant week and it was so busy we had to eat at the bar. Usually that's fine, but this bar staff seemed really annoyed to have to serve us. The wine was ok, but overpriced for the quality.

Great wine, disturbing staff! The BARTENDERS are so creepy. One was hitting on my girlfriend in front of me and the other one with the mowhawk was hitting on my buddy very aggressively. Wont go back until the staff os replaced with professionals. So unfortunate for a main streat establishment to have creepy staff. Gross!

Don't bother. Went in at 11 on a Saturday night and they had one bartender and one waitress. Sat at the bar for 15 minutes and nobody acknowledged us as the bartender was pouring shots for what looked like a table of his drunk idiot friends. Left, never going back

Very good wine selection but pricey. Staff was very friendly. Had an appetizer that was unimpressive.

I ordered scallops and were good. Appetizers were good. Staff was helpful and nice.
