I have heard Vintage Vinyl for years... today we were in the Loop... and had an opportunity to stop by... We talked with Christopher... who was very knowledgeable... this place is definitely a very cool place with an awesome atmosphere... and lots of older records... We will definitely visit again...

This place is awesome. Anyone that loves music will love this store. As a kid I use to save up money and go to the old Granite City location. They definitely have the largest record selection I've seen.

10/10 customer service, excellent music selection, and the store makes it easy to find what you're looking for (or are happy to order what you are looking for) - my sister and I have been customers since '94, and continue to frequent this establishment. Recently, we met Dustin, who has been a huge help, considering our music taste (electronic, industrial, and weird music). Dustin always gave great suggestions, and even surprised us with music we never heard of. We always get more than we came in there for! Our favorite music store by far! Keep it up guys!

It's vintage, and there's vinyl... JK. For real though, this place is a St. Louis institution -- with record crates from the old Peaches music store to boot. This is where we ended up when we skipped school in high school, when we were trying to impress our significant others in college, and now where I take my kids shopping for the perfect holiday and birthday gifts for their rock 'n' roll dad. Customer service is amazing and there are CDs, records, merch, posters, and more for every style in the fam. And the classic pink bumper stickers are now available in magnets and pins. Physical media is our past, present and the future baby!

Really cool old record store, hence the name. So much music.

Record Store Day was a blast. They had a band playing outside and music going inside. Large selection of music on several media platform to chose from. I love going there. Just wish that I lived closer.

One of the great pillars of the delmar loop. Whether you collect vinyl, cd's, posters or obscure movies this place has got what you're looking for. As their name implies, the selection of vinyl is so extensive that even after going for years I still find artists I have never heard before new and old. I am a huge metal head and it's always been hard for me to find a place that holds any artists outside of the mainstream but here they have an entire section just for metal which is epic.

Great local record store. Good selection and decent prices. Was there for a listening party and it was a good time.

An institution for a reason! I've been going to Vintage Vinyl since before I even had a record player (for the cassettes!), and the vibes are great. Friendly staff and there's always something good playing. Their record release parties and listening parties are quite fun if they are taking part in them - I know it varies per artist. Today, the Tyler Childers event even had some free beer! It's also truly my favorite record store in STL. They have a wide selection, decent prices on secondhand, cool sale section, and again, friendly non-pretentious staff. Rock on, Vintage Vinyl.

Vintage Vinyl has an impressive collection of vinyl records across all genres. The store is massive and quite well organized. Sadly, for my own personal taste (mainly 80's music), the "used" selections were lacking... mainly new copies of classics, and nothing rare, such as 12-inch singles. But that can be hit-and-miss with any record store, so I don't count against it. They definitely seemed to have a huge, well-curated jazz selection as well as a good sized punk and metal section. To my delight, I found a nice Prince bootleg vinyl, not easily found in most record stores. The staff was nice and helpful as I navigated the store- not just to me, but other customers, in my observation. That's always great to see, as some record stores have employees who can be a bit snobbish and distant.

I've always enjoyed coming to this vinyl spot. The service is always great. The vinyl are pretty reasonable in price and they have a huge selection of different genres. Whenever I usually come out with a vinyl or two.

Skrrr Skrrr Skrrrrr!!! Please pretend that is the sound of a record scratching. Anywho, this place was super fun! Of course, you can't expect records and CDs to be cheap, so I'd say they're decent valued. The place was spacious, plenty of merchandise to fill the area-wait! They didn't just have CDs, they also had posters, and other fun musical items, it was rather...whimsical. Consider that a good thing. Service was attentive and workers were very friendly. Overall, I find it really hard to find music-centered shops, and this one gets a A+++ from me! Absolutley rad, and siiiiick! I will be coming back.

Great selection! This location has a selection that my daughter really appreciated as they carried canals for all the pop artists she currently loves. The prices are decent and spent too much money there!

Specializes in music but also has a great selection of used DVDs and blu ray movies. Prices are good and discs in great condition. They pay better than some other used stores, too. I got a v/h/s steelbook for $15! Decent selection of $4 Blurays and DVDs. Blu ray prices typically around $6-8. Got some great finds! Movies are organized in alphabetical order. They don't have many duplicates so it's quick and easy to scan for specific movies.

This place is church for the avid music lover. I spent hours in this place sifting through jazz albums and found a nice B side album from Wes Montgumery's California Dreaming for $4!!! That's unbeatable. Great and knowledgeable service too. They don't judge for what you don't know!! Listened to my vinyl today and it sounds Heavenly. Can't wait to go back.

Awesome selection & the store is huge compared to the ones I've been to before. Me & my husband went on a Friday night. There wasn't a lot of people at the time we went. The staff that work there had great customer service!

Great Vibes, Great Vinyls, Even Better Service! After a disappointing experience at another record store earlier in the day, my wife and I decided to check out Vintage Vinyl while visiting St. Louis -- and we're so glad we did. The difference was night and day. We always make it a point to dig for vinyls whenever we travel, and Vintage Vinyl totally delivered. The selection was solid -- a great variety of hip-hop, R&B, soul, and jazz -- all at very reasonable prices. But what really stood out was the customer service. We interacted with three different team members, and every single one was helpful, friendly, and genuinely seemed happy to assist. It felt like they actually appreciated having us in the store, which goes a long way. We left with some great finds and told the staff how much we appreciated the experience. They were grateful to hear it -- and it just reinforced how committed they are to creating a welcoming, music-loving space. This will definitely be a regular stop for us whenever we're in St. Louis. Highly recommend for any vinyl lovers passing through!

Wide selection - my teen with eclectic tastes found exactly what he was looking for! Friendly and approachable staff!

This is a great place to spend a few hours. Nicely categorized by genre as well as artist. I found so many great jazz bargains. A huge selection! And such friendly service at the checkout. I wish I was closer but my wallet appreciates that I'm not. I will be back.

I'm a huge music fan, so a vinyl store is always a great experience for me. They had an amazing selection of different artists and genres. Even my mom bought some CD's. There is truly something for everyone. The atmosphere is amazing and the staff were helpful. Would definitely recommend. The price isn't too bad either.

Coming in from out of town I made it a point to visit several of the local Record Stores. First on the list was the legendary Vintage Vinyl. It's big, not Record Exchange big but large. Very well organized and easy to find anything you need. I ended up buying more here and any of my other stops in St. Louis. The prices were average, not too outrageous, but the selection is excellent, I pulled a mildly rare Nikki Sudden album from England that I needed. Most of my time was on the floor in the bargain bins, the one complaint I have is bending down on the floor going through all the bins was painful, but I get it.... I found 10-15 excellent releases there. They had by far the best bargain area of any place I visited. The service was friendly and they had cool merch and things outside of music. I consider it a must stop when in St Louis.

This shop reminded me of my younger days of visiting my local record store and trying to get there fast enough before a new hit song came out on 45 or LP before they sold out. Huge selection of Rock, Pop, Hip Hop, Blues, you name it in several formats-LP, 45, and CD. Prices are very reasonable and if you can't find what you're looking for; the staff is very helpful. I could get lost in this place for several hours!

I spent a few years in the 70s in record stores as a manager, so this throwback to the period brought back terrific memories. It's stuffed with LPs, EPS, CDs, 45s, DVDs and even a few cassettes. There might have been some 8 tracks but I didn't go looking for them. Memorabilia and posters, too. The point is, the double V offers a terrific browsing selection. It also has a large staff to help you find your way though the inventory.

Vintage Vinyl is a record store's record store. Paying tribute to the fantastic artists, bands and albums long before my time. Its place in St. Louis is one of memories, history and legacy. I spent half a day on Delmar Loop prior to seeing The Rolling Stones, exploring the epic boulevard of local shops and restaurants. Vintage Vinyl was high on my list, and I easily could've spent a small fortune on their epic selection of wax. When I walked into the shop, I immediately heard a familiar tune. Sweet Virginia by the Stones, off their landmark album Exile on Main St. I felt at home, as not only is that album an all time favorite, but so it the song itself. Lo and behold, they were playing the album front to back to commemorate the Stones being in town! This is my version of heaven. I had a good amount of time to kill, but I could've spent a few more hours in here. It's a really good sized shop, lined with LP's, 45's and various memorabilia. Their dominant section was classic rock and music of 70s and 80s. However, I was impressed with their deep finds of hip hop, country and even a small yet mighty collection of metal. Now that I think about it, this may have been my first record store experience since Covid began. Man, I miss wasting days inside these shops. There's nothing like getting lost in the music and transporting yourself to a certain time and place. Vintage Vinyl nails it to a T.

Would you ever go into. If you love vintage music and are into records and this is a place for you largest selection I've ever seen and I've been to a few places around the USA.

Very cool! Lots of vinyls, CD's and great prices! We only ended up staying a bit as they didn't have clothing and vintage items as we expected (looking for a Doc's of Fort Worth type feel). But very cool place!

From vinyl (of course) to CD's, 45's, buttons, stickers, magnets, coasters, t-shirts and other tangibles...Vintage Vinyl lives up to its iconic history; even in 2021. A STL staple worth exploring. You can literally be here for hours sitting through their plethora of phenomenal material. Service is pleasant enough and the staff is pretty knowledgeable. This place is a landmark for the Delmar Loop. Even if you're not a big music fan, it's a must see at some point in your life. They offer a huge variety of genres and artists for both CDs and Records. And they're always playing a staff recommendation in the store. Plus, it's at the end of the Loop neighborhood, so whether you start or end there, it's a great place to get a feel for the culture.

Great place to both buy and sell music in various media. In early August I brought in several boxes of CDs. They told me they would need an hour to review and give me a price, so my son and I had floats at Fitz's and walked around the Loop. I appreciated the fact that they took their time to look at the CDs and give me an accurate price. You're not going to get rich selling your old CDs, but the price they offered was good enough. Added bonus: while in the store I noticed a display that "Loveless" by My Bloody Valentine has been reissued on vinyl.

I'm newly into the Vinyl collection scene and happened to be in town for work. I decided to hit up Vintage Vinyl based on a recommendation from a friend and he did not disappoint. This place was amazing! They have regularly discounted vinyl when you walk in the door, then it's like the disney world of Vinyl when you browse all of the different sections throughout the store. The team that works there is helpful and answered all my newbie questions, like how much are RSD recors going to be this weekend, etc. Anyway, you should definitely go visit this place if you like vinyl or are looking for something unique.

The best independent physical record store, in America. I've been all around the only stores that can compare is in San Francisco near Berkeley

BOO! Just not what it used to be the workers in here listen to lame music and need to get into less mainstream music . A record stores employees should desire eclectic obscure music and fill the store with it not push all mainstream titles. Such a boring experience. GO TO PLANET SCORE OR EUCLID FOR A MORE DYNAMIC INTERESTING EXPERIENCE. I never leave with anything shopping here.

HUGE selection of vinyl. If you want a record they are guaranteed to have it. They mostly sell newer sealed records, so if you are looking for some dirt cheap used records, you are mostly out of luck. This is overall a great record store with a friendly staff I definitely recommend you check this place out.

I came to the Halloween convention in St. Louis and of course I always have to look for Record Store. I own a DJ company also so I love collecting records but I only only like 12 inch singles. I called a few places in town and most of them did not have much of a selection. From my first call to vintage vinyl they were so friendly and so helpful and told me they had lots of 12 singles. And boy were they right they had lots of them and for great prices.. as soon as I arrived, they had parking I walked in I was greeted and the first person on the floor was very helpful to show me the sections where they had the most 12 singles. I found some great classics at great prices. The only thing I was worried about is how I was going to carry 40 Records to the airport. The young man at the counter told me not to worry they could ship them out to me for the small price of five dollars. I had to ask him twice because I couldn't believe for five dollars. I could have them shipped all the way to California. His manager and his manager said the same thing. I have nothing but great things to say about this store.. from their prices to their great customer service I can't wait to go again next year! And by the way, I got my records within four days of flying home. Thank you vintage vinyl for your great customer service.!

Good selection, lot of vinyl, not so much so when it comes to tapes, or any other format, which isn't surprising, given the name of the store lol. Buy-prices are atrocious. Discogs *LOW* value on my stuff, in the condition it was in (all NM/NM still in shrink, most unplayed) was over $500. Was offered $70 when I expIained that individually all the albums were worth around that much, was told "it's a stretch, but I could do $80" I'm aware they need to keep the doors open and the lights on, but less than 20% is craaaazy. All-in-all, good store, just don't bring them stuff you're trying to sell.

If you are a music person and want to be taken back to that special time/ genre of music that you remember, this is definitely your place! The staff is always there to help you with a smile on their face. I appreciate going into a business and you can feel the positive energy from both customers and the staff! I've also never gone in and they don't have what I'm looking for. If you haven't been for a while or at all, you really need to check it out!

Probably one of the best record shops in the Midwest, if not the country. Dare I say it almost rivals spots like Amoeba in SF (well maybe at half the scale). Still, Vintage Vinyl is well-curated, the staff know their stuff back-and-forth and upside down, and it's great spot to hang out at, chitchat and browse. It's also a large enough space that can accommodate in-store performances. Really, record stores don't get much better than this.

Wow So cool coming back to a real record store after so many years. I bought a Morrissey cd. Staff was friendly. It was pretty cool. They had a great selection of cds and records. Some shirts and old vintage displays etc. cool place to visit.

Don't get suckered into buying from here. The downloads delete immediately and they will not respond when you reach out to them. I bought an album from them on 10/1/23 and as of writing this I still have not heard from them. Would be great to receive what I paid for.

I've been here so many times just to browse. I'm not even into vinyl but it's a fun shopping experience for anyone. My friends who ARE into vinyl will literally spend hours here. It's fun and quirky. Nice staff, always happy to help you or have you test out vinyls on the demo units. Their collection is EXTENSIVE. If you're visiting the Loop, definitely stop in!

Pro: This may be my first love as I discovered my audiophile identity! In the three years I lived in St. Louis, I made Vintage Vinyl my first and last stop when it came to adding to my record collection. The large floor of the store hosts a more-than-ample selection of wax from practically every genre imaginable. And, in quintessential record shop fashion, the staff members were all A) eager to talk about music you bought, B) knowledgable on the next music you should buy, and C) happy to see you when you make a return trip. If I still lived in the Lou, I'd probably be there right now.... Con: None. Bottom Line: A great place to wax poetic about poetic wax!

It's okay. I wish they had more good used vinyl. Most of what I saw in the artists' sections I was after was modern pressings. But maybe it's so busy that the good used stuff gets sold really quickly.

Every single time we're on Delmar, my husband has to stop by. We have a pretty robust vinyl collection and still we have.to.stop.by. "Stopping by" always means buying something. It doesn't matter if you're looking for something or not, you'll always end up buying something (yes, including myself). The place is big, with both new and used material. Vinyl prices are only slightly higher than amazon.com, for example. Organization is pretty good and things seem to be in their place. They also have a selection of used turntables and other equipment with a 30 day guarantee.

I absolutely love this store.. I found some classic hip hip, jazz, and some dope singles to spin. I bought so much that I was concerned that Delta was going to charge me for additional luggage. I love the location and the staff was knowledgeable and cool.. I'll definitely keep check on what they have in stock.. Keep Digging..

Can you smell that smell? Walking into this place takes me on a memory bliss of the old days. They have it all. You can find old records, new records, CDs. etc.. I can spend hours in this shop. They always have specials and I walk out with a lot of records. Of the used albums I have purchased, I have not had to return any for not playing.

Not sure if i was just awestruck from walking in or if it was because they had such a nice selection of used vinyl. I wish we had something like this near my house in texas but the best I have is 45 min away. they have a big selection of blues, jazz, rock, rap and many other things lots of music and movies. didn't really check the price comparison too much since we were only visiting and i didn't really have any money.

Been a patron since I was a kid in the 90's and now that I don't have to beg my Father to drive me there, I love it even more! They've got an impressive selection of music and the staff is super knowledgeable across an array of music topics. It's a MUST-GO destination every time I'm in the St. Louis area. They sell music in all of it's mediums but Vintage Vinyl is by far, the number one brick and mortar destination to purchase records in the tri-state area. It's in a really cool part of St. Louis, too, so you can browse for a bit - take a break grab a bite and a beer and pick up where you left off. They'll go the extra mile to help you find rare gems.

Awesome small record store with great customer service. The clerk offer to play any used records we wanted prior to purchase to ensure that we were satisfied. They had a good selection of music across various genres.

Me and Vintage Vinyl go way back....into the 90's, that is. This was back when they also had a Granite City location (closed a decade ago). At the time, this (besides Goodwill) were the only places I would find records. Now that the vinyl revolution is in full swing, there are always music junkies found at area record stores. Even with lots of competition now, Vintage Vinyl has maintained to be one of the best. When you walk in, you'll know right away they probably have everything (or at least a few things...) you are looking for. Yes, they will probably have the Luther Vandross or Morris Day & the Time albums that didn't sell well at their time. No, they probably won't have the rarest punk and new-wave albums from the early 80s. Hey, nothing's perfect. Take the time to browse around. Almost everything is sorted well by artist and genre. Vinyl, CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays, cassettes, they got the format you're probably looking for. Special sections include Local (past and present), Jazz (all types), 12" (disco/dance/rap vinyl singles), comedy, imports and whatevers left from Record Store Day. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Sometimes the music they play is something I've never heard before and I would have to look up what it is because it sounds so great! (Last time I was in there, they were playing a forgotten Welsh rock band called Man.) So yes, the hype is real, folks! One other thing, sometimes they have in-store performances...mostly from local bands. One time I caught the Finn Brothers (famous for Crowded House and Split Enz) performing there. Check out Vintage Vinyl. The name says it all. I know there will be plenty of memories to be had. Maybe you'll even see Papa Ray (you know, the voice behind those weird VV commercials)!

Love this place, has so many oldie but goodie's music choices. I would highly recommend to those who have not been to pay a visit. You will be pleasantly surprised.

...I make it a point to visit indie record stores when I travel - from Easyt Street Seattle to Amoeba LA to Sonic Boom Toronto I've seen some of the best, but dollar for dollar when taking into account diversity and customer service I don't think any have topped Vintage Vinyl. From my first visit in June of 1998 to my most recent in July of 2012 the store's look has remained the same and while my tastes have changed a bit I still managed to find absolute gems both times around, this time an unopened collectors edition of REM's UP for $10 and back in the day a lightly used copy of Metallica's Garage Days $5.95 version for the same 10-spot. A must visit in St. Louis. Hell, its a reason to visit St. Louis.

Buster, Mittoo and Astatke. In today's era of MP3 blogspot downloads, iTunes one stop shopping and the demise of chain music stores, like Tower Records and Virgin Mega, it's always refreshing to find a "record" store that's still doing it the right way...the old fashioned way. The proverbial icing on the cake is when said record store is still stocking that waxy relic of yesteryear, the vinyl record. I recently traveled to the beautiful city of St. Louis for a close friend's wedding reception and like I do in every new city I visit, I hit the local record store(s). While both the left and right coasts - Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York City - have myriad record shops, like Amoeba, Atomic, Academy, Bleecker, etc., most of these spots have been picked over by the many collectors that dot these cities. Now, don't get me wrong, I realize collectors travel far and wide looking for that musical holy grail but the further you get from these aforementioned metropolises the better the pickings get...as well as the pricing. Vintage Vinyl, located on the corner of Delmar Blvd. Blvd. and Leland Avenue, is a record store that "get's it." CD's and vinyl line the walls and fill the bins. Like most record shops, the store is organized by the basic genres of rock, jazz, classical, blues, etc, but Vintage Vinyl takes it one step further and also has sections sub-genres like punk, garage, Jamaican, electronic, metal, etc. A music lovers paradise to say the least. In the short time I had to peruse the sections, I was overwhelmed by all the finds and the great prices. It didn't take long to find myself standing there with an arm load of musical choices and getting to the next step of my record shopping process...whittling down to affordability. A day later I traveled back to Los Angeles with a Vintage Vinyl bag full of choice cuts. What started out as a weekend full of matrimonial bliss, ended with a happy and fulfilled music fiend. Not only did I get to see Mr. and Mrs. Seiler tie the knot but I was able to add some vinyl to my collection. A successful weekend on all accounts. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the staff. The ones I encountered were friendly and knowledgeable and more than willing to research an inquiry. Another Vintage Vinyl notable was that they had a listening station for BOTH CD's and vinyl. Once again, doing it right. To say that this here Angeleno was impressed with the greatness that is Vintage Vinyl would be an understatement. If anything, yearly trips to "The Lou" just might be in order...

Why 4 stars? Because major props to this record store for staying open long past the business's shelf life. --- --- --- I can't believe this place is not only open, but it seems to be prospering. It's one of those places that's fun to walk around in, even if you have no intention of buying anything. And that's what we did. I hope you are still open in 5 years. I will mail you a trophy!* *I will actually email a smiley face.

Guess what? Vinyl is back! Vintage Vinyl is the place to get back into the groove with the largest collection of albums in the Lou. Dig your old turntable out of the basement, hook it up to your receiver and learn to enjoy music again by learning more than just an artist's hits. Rows and rows of Records, CDs, 45s in all genres to browse.

We need more of these places. This is the kind of store I would spend hours in as a kid, and my kid is being robbed of the same great experience. Vintage Vinyl fills that gap - great selections, both new and old, and a team that knows and loves music of all kinds. I spoke to a clerk about Mingus for 15 minutes, and I got the impression he had more information to share. My 7 year old daughter bought her first KISS record, and we've been wearing it out since she brought it home. Keep up the good work, VV.

Vintage Vinyl is awesome, even if you don't own a turntable any more! I remember going there and seeing the entire place full of record albums (those are the flat black things, kids!), but many years ago Vintage Vinyl transitioned seamlessly into carrying CDs. They will also take your old vinyl and transfer it to CD for those albums you have sitting around that aren't out on CD. Spend some time wandering around all of the sections, reading the handwritten notes on various artist cards. Stop by one of the many kiosks and listen to selections from some CDs that you've never heard of before. Check out their local band section and find someone local to love. If you still miss those "flat black things," you can get album frames here and hang them on your wall.
