The 10 Best New Hotels Opening in Europe in 2019 - AFAR

"A tribute to the historic Vintry and Mercer guilds, this 92-room London hotel mixes vibrant, design-forward interiors—velvet headboards, leather door handles and colorful ceramic-tiled bathrooms with walk-in showers and C.O. Bigelow products—with a barrel-aged cocktail program and bespoke textiles and vintage trading maps in the decor. Dining and drinking include a ground-floor all-day spot, an indoor/outdoor rooftop terrace with a charcoal oven and farm-to-table dishes, and Do Not Disturb, an underground speakeasy-inspired cocktail bar; some suites offer glass-walled balconies with Southbank views." - Sandra Ramani

Vintry and Mercer (London, UK) 20 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"For years the City of London was a place to find the most flavorless luxury hotels imaginable; bankers and financiers, presumably, were thought to be allergic both to historical hotels and to memorable modern design. Those days, happily, are over, and it’s a good thing, because a hotel like Vintry & Mercer would have been unthinkable under the old rules. It gets its name from its location between two historical guild halls, one for the wine trade and another for textile merchants, and it takes its visual inspiration from the romance of an era when business travel was quite literally an adventure." - Tablet Hotels

My husband booked for one night only and what a find! We received a warm welcome upon arrival, service was exemplary and the rooms very luxurious. Tucked away in a quiet side street yet within walking distance of the city sights. The roof top bar was the “cherry on the cake”! We shall be back and wouldn’t hesitate to highly recommend.

An excellent boutique hotel in well placed on a narrow cobbled street in the Garlick Hill location. Was very quiet on the weekend we stayed, as it is in the business district. Very close to tube station and an easy walk away from great sites like St Paul’s Cathedral. Room and general decor extremely tasteful and comfortable - curated with lovely arty objects, rich colour scheme, good lighting and and interesting books. Room was not large and fitting our suitcases in was tight. Bed large and extremely comfortable. Drinks in the minibar (juice, milk and water) were complimentary as were copious amounts of the days newspapers and my favourite British Home & Garden magazine. Lovely toiletries in the bathrooms. I could have stayed for a week or a year no trouble! Service at reception super attentive and helpful. Would have liked to try the restaurant up on the roof as views sound amazing and weather was favourable. Main dishes were a little too pricy for our needs at the time. We also skipped breakfast so did not try the crowded and obviously popular cafe area on the ground floor. Had a Quick Look at the beautiful library space downstairs. Oh to be celebrating a significant birthday in such a well put together space! If you have the pounds to spend this place should meet all of your needs and more providing a classy and tasteful London stay.

This hotel is amazing! Gorgeous decor, lovely staff, beautiful food and so many extras and personal touches in the room. Even our 4 year old felt looked after with all the little bits for him in our room! Great location too! We will definitely be back!

I took my grandson for the magic themed afternoon tea. Absolutely fantastic. A great selection of food which was all good quality. The magic inspired cakes were just wonderful. My grandson made a drinkable potion which changed colour and there was magic smoke coming off of the cakes. The room was very atmospheric. It was dark and candlelit. We were given special glow in the dark torches to read the menu. It was a fantastic experience and worth every penny.

My Husband booked us a stay here for my birthday in April. We stayed here the first time on the night of our wedding and it was such a wonderful surprise to go back. The service at this hotel is exceptional - you won’t find another hotel in London like it. Patricia and Hamid took care of us this time round and they were truly lovely. We felt so at home, and the room was beautiful - just as last time. It’s tucked away in a perfect quiet location that allows super easy access in to the city. Definitely recommend this hotel to anybody looking for a luxury and relaxing stay!

This is a small luxury hotel located in the City of London within a few minutes walk from St Paul's cathedral. The staff are friendly and the check in process was really simple. The room was really clean and the bed was comfortable. Room temperature was controlled by working AC.There was a complimentary mini bar with fruit juice, fizzy drinks and water. There was also tea and coffee making facilities. There is a nice rooftop terrace where the restaurant is located with plenty of outside seats and tables. There is also a cocktail bar in the lower ground floor. A great little hotel that you should definitely consider for your next trip.

Booked a night here to celebrate my girlfriend’s 20th and couldn’t have picked a better place. The rooms were stunning, service was excellent, and the staff were incredibly attentive. We had dinner at the terrace roof restaurant which was great and reasonably priced. The underground bar had a good atmosphere – the cocktails were spot on and served in really unique glassware. They also surprised us with a few complimentary touches like a room upgrade and drinks, which made the stay feel even more special. Highly recommend to anyone visiting London – a top experience all round.

Yelp
Wonderful hotel! Beautiful, comfortable rooms, kind staff, and a great central location. It's close to many tube lines. The area is quiet, as were the rooms.

Yelp
Such a lovely and aesthetically pleasing hotel! It was a little tricky to find being that it was my first time visiting London but it's definitely a hidden gem. All of the staff- from the receptionist, to the servers, and housekeepers were extremely pleasant. My absolutely fav was Alexander who greets in the front! The rooms were cozy and comfy as well. I'll definitely be back if I decide to travel back to London!

Yelp
The staff were amazing. Friendly, helpful and went out of their way to make sure our stay was great. We had a problem with a leak in our bathroom and it was handled effectively and efficiently.

Yelp
This hotel reminds me of my favorite Ny hotel Bowery Hotel. I love the luxury, but trendy layout in room. The bed is so comfortable that After a week traveling in other hotels not sleeping well, I was able to sleep a full 8 hours once I plopped myself in the bed. I honestly don't want to give my secret away but I found an amazing last minute deal here on HotelTonight.com for nearly half off of Expedia and Hotels.com. With so many hotels in London I wouldn't have discovered this amazing hotel with comfy beds without selecting the Luxe option on the App (if you don't have the app, download it and use my promo for and additional 20% off! ANCHUNG19). The hotel is situated in City of London and has been the first for me as I'm usually in Westminster. I really enjoyed the walking distance to busy pubs and a lot of grab and go places which is always convenient when staying at a hotel. The hotel boasts a cute rooftop restaurant and another one on the first floor. The bathroom layout and the hardware is nice and custom made, no generic stuff. Towels are very fluffy and luxury. Nice robes and slippers provided in each room. Easy to use French press and mini bar (I believe it's free and will know upon check out - lol I'm still at the hotel). Anyway I really like it Will be my go to spot!

Yelp
Our experience at the V&M was excellent. It's brand new so every part of the facility and room is immaculate, yet the staff is so uniformly helpful and friendly that it feels like a well-established hotel. The room showed evidence that ideas about design were blended well with ideas about convenience. Plenty of USB ports were always handy, and a complimentary adaptor for those who forgot one was already in the room. Books in the room added a nice touch, featuring history and architecture. For those who always want it, TV in the bathroom as well as main room. Minibar has "free" sodas, water, and snacks. Speaking of the bathroom, amenities include rainfall shower, heated floors, a scale ( no thanks), separate bathtub, and double sinks. Minor complaint is the shower door, which was heavy and hard to open, and always left water on the floor after being pushed open. A rubber ducky adds whimsy, and loofah pad & plenty of Bigelow lotions and gels are appreciated. Housekeeping was prompt when called; laundry delivered nicely as promised. The main downsides are for the nightlife due to location. This is a City hotel, and the City doesn't have bustling evening pubs and cute cafes and gelataterias. However, it's a good location for access to St Paul's, and you can do some nice walking tours of guild halls and old London. A walk to Southwark's Borough Market is about 15 minutes across the bridge. And the Mansion House tube stop or Cannon St (tube and National Rail) is very close. The terrace restaurant featured nice outdoor dining on warm nights with a fine view of the city skyline, including St Paul's. I'd stay here again!!
