70 New Restaurants and Bars That Have Opened in San Diego | Eater San Diego

"I experienced a hybrid wine bar and full yoga studio where a varied class schedule pairs with a kitchen serving weekday lunch and dinner and weekend brunch; the menu—think baked brie, mushroom toast, and smoked brisket sandwiches—is designed to pair with wines from small producers and family-owned wineries, poured alongside local beer, kombucha, nitro coffee, and tea." - Candice Woo

Google
This is a hidden gem that I stumbled upon recently when I was searching for a wine bar with a relaxed atmosphere. They have a wide variety of wines and beers. Happy hour looks promising too. I didn’t get a chance to try their food but it looked good from what I saw. It is similar to vino carta in little Italy but it’s more spacious with food and a parking lot. Lastly, the owners are down to earth people who also work the bar.

This store is right next to The Noble Chef (豪記私房菜). I came here on Thursday night to attend TAP's event and discovered this place. It's actually very spacious and quiet inside. The menu is full of healthy food. Because of its large space, it makes people feel very comfortable. It's very suitable for chatting with friends or having a big gathering.

I came on a Sunday noon. It was quiet, but peaceful. There were healthy brunch options with amazing plating. My partner and tried their baked brie, pesto chicken sandwich, and brisket hash. Baked brie was the bomb best l've ever had! Amazing balance of nuts, figs, and sweet and savory tastes. Pesto chicken sandwich used tomato bits and FRESH PESTO!!! Felt loaded with good nutrients and flavor. We meet Patrick and Victoria, our server and chef couple who owned the establishment. It was cool to hear how they wanted to give back to the local community by adding what it didn't already have -- a yoga and crafts center with a brunch flair. There's also a small section that sells goods from local creators and artists in Clairemont Mesa -- be sure to check it out! I got an awesome birthday card with a sunset print.

My first time at Vinya was last night for their Halloween trivia in October 2023. My friend and I love trivia and wanted to do something for Halloween but we wanted something lowkey. When we found Vinya’s event we were so in! We arrived a little early and there were already teams in costume all setup at tables. We found a spot near the bar, ordered food, and got up and got wine at the bar. I really liked their wine selection. (I used to drink a lot of wine at Wine Steals - miss them; and this venue reminds me a lot of Wine Steals.) The Trivia MC was great! She was so engaging and funny. The horror trivia started and it was going well…then she threw in a total multi-question curveball and we did better than we thought we would. We went through three or four rounds of trivia building up points and getting more and more competitive. We were in third for the last round and she asked a go big or go home question…WE GOT IT RIGHT! We took 2nd place and a couple of good prizes and felt accomplished for the evening. It was a really good time. Haven’t been back for trivia but have been back for wine. The space is just really inviting. Go, sit, and drink wine.

Vinya is such a great addition to this area! The space is expansive with beautiful murals, and is able to accommodate a large group for both yoga and dinner. The wine list is diverse and well-curated, and the food menu items we got were delicious! There is also a selection of local craft beers. Highly recommend as a perfect way to unwind after work.

My husband and I live in Clairemont and have been anxiously waiting for Vinya to open! We are so happy they finally did! In fact, we went there 3 times the first week lol! Vinya is definitely our new local, regular hangout. The owners Victoria and Patrick are very personable, as well. First of all, their place is huge! They have a private large yoga studio on one side and the other side is the bar and tons of tables. My girlfriends and I tried their party yoga on a Friday night, which was fun! You don’t need to be a Yogie to enjoy Vinya though! We typically just head to the bar…. Their wine is delicious! They also have good deals with the wine club and buying bottles to take home. Gerson is their Sommelier and he’s awesome! He’s very knowledgeable about wine and picks some really delicious, unique bottles. I love their Malbec! For the non wine-lovers, they also serve beers on tap from local breweries we love like hopnonomous….. The food is also amazing! It’s a small menu, but everything is top notch! Chef Joseph Weber’s food is on point! We have loved everything we tr you Ed including the cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, Burrata/beets, brie, etc. Check them out!!!

Google
Clairemont has been waiting for a place that’s inviting and warm. The food is clean and flavorful, the wine is award winning, the yoga is great for every level and the studio is a beautiful. The boutique is artfully stocked with items for local artists and makers. It’s a gem that needs to be explored. Parking is always available too!

Google
I'm in trouble because this place is very close to me! It's such a great spot to grab a drink and a bite to eat - everything is amazing! I will try a yoga class as well and I'm sure that will be wonderful too. I've met the entire staff who are all lovely, welcoming people everytime I come in. Such a fab addition to Clairemont!

Yelp
VINYA VINO + VINYASA I came here with a few girlfriends for their Brunch Flow class, which includes a post-Vinyasa mimosa. When you walk in, the space is a fun surprise with an open concept including a restaurant/bar on the right and a yoga studio with a small retail shop on the left. It caught me by surprised and at first, I thought I went into the wrong door haha Nope, it's just a big space. I forgot my mat, but they rent them for just $3. Inside the studio, everything was spotless. The blocks looked brand new and they had these beautiful handmade blankets that added a cozy, personal touch I haven't seen at other studios. I used it for my knees during certain poses. The instructor's playlist was engaging yet soothing and set the perfect tone for class. FOOD After class, instead of the included mimosas, we grabbed fresh orange juice and a nonalcoholic kombucha and both were delicious. I ordered the Burrata salad and it was outstanding: creamy burrata, fresh arugula and perfectly toasted walnuts. One of my friends ordered the green eggs and loved it as well. SERVICE Everyone we interacted with was friendly and helpful. We made our reservations beforehand online without any issues, check-in was quick, renting the mat was easy and the staff at the restaurant side were upbeat and welcoming. It all felt very effortless and organized. AMBIENCE The entire space is decorated beautifully. It felt warm, modern and inviting. The restaurant side has plenty of seating for small to medium groups and the layout makes the yoga-to-brunch flow feel seamless. It's a unique space that feels both energizing and relaxing. It was a perfect vibe for us to have a girls date doing yoga and then grabbing food after. PARKING HUGE plus: lots of parking. This spot is in a strip mall with a shared lot, so parking was plentiful and totally stress-free which is something I always appreciate when heading to a class. I recently discovered they're on ClassPass, so I'll definitely be coming back and signing up for more classes. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a fun yoga experience with great food and great vibes!

Yelp
My friend discovered this place while in Clairemont and it is a gem! They offer wine, yoga (including bunny yoga), and open mic.... such a cool concept. Right as I walked in, the place was filled with individuals who were partaking in the open mic and I had a lovely time watching all the performances while having a glass of of wine. Highly highly recommend ordering the baked Brie with your wine. It was decadent and full of flavor with the honey & walnuts I dream of spending more evenings here as the weather starts to cool down
google avatar

Yelp
Such a warm and welcoming spot! The wine, the energy, the vibe--everything was amazing. I'll definitely be a regular here. Can't wait to try one of their yoga classes as well as their sip and paint. The owners were lovely and had such a positive, genuine presence. Perfect for girls night, date night, even a solo night out

Yelp
What a great concept! Vino + Vinyasa has a large interior space where they serve food and drinks. They have a great selection of wine available by the glass or for purchase by the bottle. I loved seeing Union Sacre on the menu, a great producer from Paso. Beyond a restaurant and a place for gatherings, you can rent their space for events, they also have a yoga studio with a weekly schedule of classes. The space was serene and calm. Something that stood out to me was that the yoga studio did not have any mirrors. I came specifically for bunny yoga hosted by the San Diego House Rabbit Society. The bunny yoga class was so much fun. It was light on the yoga and heavy on the rabbit cuddles, which is exactly how I wanted it. It was such a fun event and so so cute! The class came with a complimentary drink at the bar and my friend and I enjoyed staying for a while to chat and enjoy. Parking in the area is easy and accessible.

Yelp
I went for the first time last week, love the ambience. I had ordered a flight of wine to try. The gentleman that brought my flight to me was very knowledgeable and friendly. Told my girlfriends about this place and they went in a couple days after me. I will most definitely be back.

Yelp
I hosted my monthly book club here for 8 people and it was absolutely perfect! Victoria and Patrick were super nice, professional, snd went above and beyond to make it an amazing experience! Highly recommend for any and all social events: book club, networking, mixers, you name it!

Yelp
Amazing food-especially for Wine Club Night. The meatballs were amazing! The owners are so knowledgeable and friendly. Great to sit and relax and watch the Padres game. Very relaxing. Delicious food and a great wine selection.

Yelp
Wow! If you haven't been, what are you waiting on? Location is easy to find, has great parking and is in a well lit area. Victoria and Patrick are welcoming and the space is plenty big with booth, table and bar seating. Now to the good stuff....the food and wine! The menu has a unique blend of light and earthy dishes. With the size being perfect for sharing a bite or splitting with the table, it's hard to go wrong with the carefully curated menu. To quench your thirst, share a glass (or bottle) of various wines from around the world; aged and a perfect complement to baked Brie or the brisket sandwich - YUM! Not an enthusiast, chat with Patrick or Victoria, they may convince you otherwise (or at least tempt you); otherwise, there are some nice beer on tap, and ice cold coke products! But wait there's more....Vinya hosts events! Check out the monthly calendar for daily Yoga sessions (that's right, they have a private yoga studio located to the side of the restaurant) - what a great date day / night activity or an outing with friends. Vinya supports local artists with their live music and a gift shop offering various gifts including cards, clothing, home decor, yoga wear, artwork and more. Seeing a business so eager to engage the community is special, and Vinya is just that - a special place to meet, eat and decompress. Give it a try, you won't regret it!

Yelp
This place was alright! I do think the lighting made the vibe soulless and cold. Would have been nicer with dimmed lighting so it didn't feel like a warehouse. I liked the wine. Would prefer other wine bars.

Yelp
Food is always good. friendly and welcoming staff. Great tasting wines. I wish the happy hour lasted longer. I typically stop by after work but by the time I get there it's over. Please consider the end time to be later (to 6:00pm).

Yelp
I was excited to check out this spot, and organized a school family mixer here. Victoria, the owner, was easy to work with and the space was great for the group. The kids enjoyed the games and the adults enjoyed the beverages and food. Look forward to coming back for trivia night!
google avatar

Alissa T.

Yelp
We came here for Trivia night (Tuesdays), and it was so much fun. The place is huge so it allows for bigger groups to hang out. The staff was extremely helpful and nice. There are a lot of picnics tables, some bar seating, and then a few tables for smaller groups. On each table are cool air plants, and the place really has a casual and fun feel. I had the baked Brie and it was amazing! Everyone in my group loved the food and drinks they got. Also, we didn't go to yoga since we were doing trivia, but my friends in the group had been here for yoga before and said it was great.

Yelp
Recently moved back to San Diego and live in the neighborhood. This place opened while we lived on the East Coast. Very pleasantly surprised. Great wine selection with some unusual selections. The food is good and the people nice. Really enjoyed it. The flatbreads are nice, the pork belly divine!

Yelp
Noticed this unusual blend of wine and yoga awhile ago since it's in the same complex as the magical massage spa. Finally had a great reason to try when friends suggested as the place to get together and catching up. I had a flight of rose wines to start off while the other ladies had prosecco and Chardonnay. We shared several dishes as well. The charcuterie board was beautiful and tasty. It was fairly quiet in mid-afternoon on Friday but more people trickled in as well as people having a glass of wine after yoga class. Very nice atmosphere and interesting wine selections to choose from.

Yelp
I had never been to Vino +Vinyasa before. Specifically, last night I was there to attend a "pop-up" dinner put on by Chef Coral Strong, from there Gareden Kitchen in Rolando [now closed]. The Vinyasa sommelier, Gerson, was very informative He was knowledgeable about the wines on the list and had personally selected them himself. I drank a Rhone wine on the day of my visit, which was unfamilar to me but which I enjoyed. As always with Coral Strong, the food was superb. There was a complex Caesar Salad, Spanish Meatballs with wild Shrimp and a lucious pot de crème topped with a marigold blossom. Bravo!

Yelp
Vinya Vino + Vinyasa is such a great place found in our Clairemont neighborhood! A fun, open setting surrounded with creative artwork created by local artists/businesses. The food & drinks are excellent! The salads and charcuterie boards are delicious! A perfect atmosphere for an afternoon or evening out with friends & family OR a place to host an event! I coordinated a baby shower here this year and it turned out beautifully. The owners of the restaurant are wonderful, you can tell they love & enjoy their business! To top it off, this venue is also a yoga studio! Food, drinks, music, live entertainment, artwork, yoga & a positive atmosphere. I absolutely recommend Vinya! Thank you! -Heidi H.events

Yelp
What a cute place! My friend and I went to an awesome yin yoga class, walked down the way to get a massage, then came back to have a delicious lunch. Victoria is delightful and has created an oasis with a sweet vibe. Highly recommend!

Caroline M.

Yelp
My husband and I reserved Vinya May 24 for our combined retirement party - after 57 years of combined teaching years. Victoria exceeded all of our expectations and our 75 guests totally enjoyed their evening. Dinner, drinks and great company - who can ask for more. I would 100% book Vinya again - such a great location!

Yelp
We came across this wine bar and what a hidden gem in plain sight! The space is open and inviting. Comfortable seating and good ambiance with music. The wine was fantastic! The selections were not mainstream and clearly curated by someone who is passionate about their wine. We sampled a few white wines and they were all spectacular. They offered a selection of beverages/wine to take away so we left with some hard teas and wine in the can, which were also great. We didn't have a chance to try the food but we will definitely be back. The owners were there and made the experience much more pleasurable. You could tell Victoria and her husband poured their heart and soul into their business and the quality shows.

Yelp
Super cute shop, wine bar, & food. Shop was cute. Bought a few things. Food had the crab cake sandwich. It was ok. Pineapple mimosa was good. Lots of champagne in it Service was good. Would go back. 4 instead of 5 because the food was so so.

Yelp
I went to my first class today at V&V. Great class, tasty wine after, jazz music and some healthy food. Nice antidote to "Big Yoga" churn. The teacher Torri was very soothing but challenged us. The students were friendly. The owners Victoria and Patrick were on hand and shared their vision with me while I enjoyed some wine and jazz. Thanks!
google avatar

Swan L.

Yelp
Huge huge space for dining! I do hope that more people come to try the grub and wine. Classes wise, I have taken a vinyasa flow class and a yoga-pilates type of class. Both were fantastic. The yoga room has a very pretty mural, is also equipped with things like blocks and blankets. The Happy Hour Flow class with Joel was fun and I worked up a bit of a sweat. Food/drink wise, I highly recommend the brisket sando. 48hr smoked brisket on a soft roll and with a red pepper dip that added some heat, super good. Come for happy hour (4-6pm) and get $2 off a glass of wine, or $6 for beer

Yelp
I visited Vinya on a Friday night for wine and live music! The wine was great, the music was super fun and the baked Brie was absolutely delicious! Really friendly people and a nice fun atmosphere!

Yelp
Obsessed!! It was my first yoga class here, thanks to ClassPass, and boy did I walk away with so much more!! I'm feeling quite giddy this gem exists right in my neighborhood! Class was Yoga for Mobility with Nam. It was everything I needed today. Walked in thinking it was probably more of a stretching and range of motion focus, but I was so wrong. I am so impressed by the anatomical technicality of this class, which today focused on quads and the use of a Tune Up ball. Nam is articulate, has a gentle voice, and is a great explainer (for lack of better words!) like I was listening to a physical therapist tell me how to do this at home and what my body is doing. It dawned on me partway through, there was no music, but I didn't miss it. Calm, welcoming vibes, and holy cow, my muscles are thanking me. After class, I connected with a classmate discussing a trip to Southeast Asia (someone said "Laos"--say whaaa?!"). I also learned that Nam does yoga retreats in different parts of the world. Also giddy at the thought of finding such a cool community here, again right in my backyard. Finally, cherry on the top was getting to know co-owner, Victoria, and learning what this genius yoga + wine bar / restaurant + adorable boutique shop + work space has to offer. I learned a new term, "hyper-local" which Vinya focuses on, from the vendors they choose in their little shop, to the mural artist, and the beers and wines they feature. I'm excited to learn about some of the folks here in Clairemont and experience their talent at Vinya. Outside the studio on their window is a great story (see pic) of their vision that was 6.5 years in the making with her husband. Power hustler couple right here!! Very much looking forward to my next visit, likely doing some work over coffee/wine in their spacious dining area and hopefully a date night soon! The ambience is inviting, calm, and like a big hug. There is definitely something for everyone here!!

Yelp
Wine and yoga... this is the first I have seen the combination of the two under one roof. Vinya has replaced a former fabric shop at the Balboa Crest Shopping Mall in Clairemont. Not only is there plenty of available parking, but the inside is massive. Off in a back corner was a private room for yoga sessions. The rest of the space had plenty of tables for on-site dining, a wine bar, and lots of displayed merchandise on the left side. The kitchen is open from noon to 8:30 pm on Monday through Saturday with a daily happy hour from 4 to 6 pm. I came by in the afternoon to pick up some food to-go. The small one-page menu had nine savory items and two desserts. The one sandwich on the list (Brisket Sando) was my choice. Smoked molasses brisket was topped with arugula, gouda cheese, herb aioli, and chimichurri on a baguette. A red bell pepper dip was provided on the side. There were two large, tender chunks of meat in the sandwich. The only thing missing was a small salad or slaw to round out the offering. While waiting for my order, the owner (Victoria) gave me a look inside the yoga room which was quite spacious. A chalkboard of daily classes was hanging on a wall outside the room. There was a nice variety of choices including sound healing. Those who are wine connoisseurs might appreciate the roster of sparkling and white wines that were in stock. With this kind of setup, Vinya is a promising location for special group events (e.g. chef dinners, paint and sip nights, etc) as advertised on their sign out front. It's certainly a unique venue in this neighborhood if not all of San Diego.

Taylor S.

Yelp
Service was amazing, great food and they also support local businesses by selling their merchandise and providing classes/events
google avatar

Erik C.

Yelp
Definitely a very cool spot. I stumbled across this place on Groupon and without a doubt I definitely got my moneys worth and had a great experience. The yoga studio in the corner of this business is very simple and has a clean feel to it. The biggest tip that I could give, compared to a lot of other studios in San Diego. The flooring here is very, very hard. It's definitely painful on my knees to practice, so take advantage of those blankets and padding provided in the back , they will make a world of difference. Then you'll be just fine :)
google avatar

tintin H.

Yelp
Food was mediocre for the price. The wine pouring was stingy for $15/glass. Will go to a real wine-tasting vineyard and ditch this place next time.
google avatar

Tina T.

Yelp
The service was great. The ambiance was not what I expected. It was nicer!!! The owner is a fantastic lady named Victoria. She has worked diligently and almost from the ground up to make this business a warm, and cozy yoga studio with a very nice wine bar (and sales), and excellent food. The menu goes from morning till night, with a wonderful happy hour!!!!! Don't drive by, stop in and enjoy this place in an area that really needed something different!!!!

Diane M.

Yelp
Excellent curated wines and beer! Delicious food and personalized service! Co-owner Victoria caters to each patron's needs, including recommending wines and food items. The menu is varied and everything on it is delicious. Everyone at our table loved their choices: food and drink.

Yelp
Wonderful place for anyone who enjoys yoga, wine, and great food. All in one convenient place with plenty of parking. This large space houses a restaurant and yoga studio all in one. For the best bang for your buck come to the 5:30PM Happy Hour Flow Yoga class on Monday - Thursday. They extend their happy hour until 7:30PM which provides plenty of time to eat and drink after yoga class. There are great discounts on wine glasses/bottles and food. The food really surprised me and I enjoyed several of their dishes. Overall they serve very healthy dishes that are dressed with plenty of greens. I enjoyed the Herb Roasted Yukon potatoes and meatball. The yoga classes are very standard vinyasa in a non-heated room. They also have specialized classes for advanced yogis. Classes can be purchased via Classpass, Groupon, or their website. The yoga studio is large and provides cubies for your personal belongings. Yoga blocks and bolsters are also available to use. There are also dedicated restrooms for the studio completely separate from the restaurant restrooms. There really isn't another other location in San Diego that has this concept.

Xiao Z.

Yelp
The food was good, service was nice. We went there during the weekday, it was not busy, like the quiet environment.

Yelp
Food was excellent and the wine is A+. Owners are locals and super kind. Mushroom toast and the smoked brisket sandwich. A++ Yoga studio is totally separate from the restaurant. It's great!

Yelp
Wow the food Vinya: vino + vinyasa is BOMB! I dove in to my food before taking a picture of it as presented. This is the mushroom toast with rosemary hollandaise and a poached egg. It was the perfect light dinner. I ate every bit of it, you definitely need to get out there and support this beautiful place. I can't say enough about this place from the food, the beautiful community retail space, the wonderful neighbors/owners, all the staff, the yoga classes. Everything about this place is special! Please pop in and show them some love. Want a place to host a Christmas party, your next book club, a friendly happy hour , a small support group, maybe a birthday party, gosh the options are endless In this gorgeous space. *I've also included a couple pictures of a few other peoples food.

I hate to give a less than stellar review, but we came for lunch today on Friday, and waited almost 45 minutes for our lunch. The server apologized, and warned us before we ordered...but why was there only one woman doing all of the cooking and serving? Why was she all alone? Just wow!

Yelp
I've been a follower of Victoria's yoga classes, off and on over the last several years, and was super excited when I heard her and her husband were opening up a yoga studio + wine bar, right here in Clairemont. The yoga studio is a separate room within the establishment. Nice, large, clean studio with all the yoga accessories and tools (blocks blankets, straps, etc.) in one corner of the room. Yogis has a separate restroom access from the restaurant side. Nice. The dining room is huge, plenty of space and tables for small and large groups. Bar tables and bar top options are available too. I may have heard there was also an outdoor patio (out back?), But we didn't get a chance to investigate. I was fortunate enough to have taken a Vinyasa class, led by Victoria, during their soft opening. I've always enjoyed her classes, in person and virtual. I see that they offer a variety of classes as part of their regular schedule, and often see the promoted advanced workshops. I plan to check out more classes after I buy a pass, so for now this is about their food/wine bar side of the biz! Yesterday, we finally got to stop in and try their food and wine. It was happy hour, so a friend decided to get a bottle of white to share. My boyfriend and I both ordered the sandwiches off the menu (one was pork belly, the other brisket). BOTH WERE SO GOOD! Bread - nice crust, soft insides. Meat - SO TENDER. My boyfriend seriously decided whether he wanted to order one To go. We gave in and ordered the cheesecake instead. Also SO GOOD. Basque cheesecake, with cinnamon whipped cream, berries and walnuts. Yum. Their draft beer selection is small, but features all local San Diego options. All awesome options. I didn't get to try different wines this time, but based on the group we were with.. everyone was happy with the range and variety of the wine selections and prices. Friends and I are already scheming our next get together so we can take a yoga class and do food/drinks after here! Can't wait.

Yelp
The owners are awesome, always so pleasant and welcoming. Today we went for Mother's Day brunch. I was treated to a passion fruit mimosa. I had the crab sandy (always on the menu) and it was delicious. My son tried the Crab Cake mini Benny special. The poached egg was absolutely perfect. And he thoroughly enjoyed it My girlfriends and I usually hit up happy hour so this my first brunch. Delicious.

Yelp
My favorite is the Zinfadel which comes in a can but don't let that fool you cuz it's delicious. It's super fruity & full bodied just how I like my reds!
