Love this place!! Big wine selection, range in price and type. Great spot for a quick pickup before dinner, always has new and interesting wine options. Especially recommended if you are after orange wines, or other natural/low impact wines.

Hours need to be updated. Showed up at 1:30 and I was told opening time is 2pm

Editing my previous review: Since my original review, I believe the rude person no longer works there. I’ve visited 3 times now and have had a good experience. The wine selection is solid and if you’re into natural wine this is the best shop uptown. Original Review: Great wine selection but terrible/rude/unwelcoming vibes from the guy with the curly hair. I hope this isn’t the owner because that would be really sad. I’m so relieved when I walk in and see the young woman working. The guy who works weekends doesn’t want to be there, doesn’t want anyone in there, etc.

Terrible customer service. I purchased two bottles of wine on their online shop for pickup. They called me and told me they actually don’t want to sell it and meant it take it offline. Without naming the wine, I actually have a personal relationship to the wine I was trying to purchase and they said they want to give access to people to buy in shop today and drink. I had to ask them if they were going to refund me. Terrible way to run a business.

Worst in store customer service experience I’ve ever had at a wine shop. Yes, the guy with the curly hair that everyone seems to reference in their reviews. I buy a lot of wine and can assure you, there are plenty of other better places to spend your money.

Favorite wine store in the city. Wonderful selection of natural and organic wines (if you care about the environment or focus on eating healthy or organic - you should be trying natural wine). Highly unpretentious staff and great casual vibe. The monthly wine club is a blast with music pairings and detailed stories about the wines and winemakers.

Love this shop - a wonderful selection of wines across all price points + lovely staff that are there to help with any recommendations and to make wine feel approachable. Always excited when I get to recommend Vinyl to others who are looking to get into natural wines!

This wine shop is a small business and local wine store. It is right next to Vinyl Beer shop. I had never been to Vinyl wine until yesterday. And WOW they have soo many different wines to choose from not all ones I have seen before. Some of the bottle of wines have funny and cute descriptions about them. I had fun reading alot of them. And to me the prices are not bad here. The guy who works here was super nice and helpful. I did not catch his name though. This really is a great spot to browse for interesting wines. They also have some liquor and canned cocktails to go. If you are in the area I highly recommend stopping in.

*reviewed during COVID restrictions* I wanted to pick up some wine for myself and found this little wine store. They have a notice up front that states that they only let in one customer at a time. Luckily for me, I was the only one there. I stepped in and you can only approach the threshold of the entrance, in an effort to maintain social distancing. I spoke to a wonderful staff member (appropriately masked) who asked what I was looking for (a Cabernet Sauvignon) and what price range ($20-$30). They also asked if I was having it with food or not, and picked out a wine that was light for the summer monthe. They brought out a 2018 Cab by a California-based company called Ground Effect Wine Company that cost about $25. If you pay by card, the reader is right next to you on a table to make the transaction as contactless as possible. The wine verdict? Amazing. Smooth, and went really nice with my dinner.

I can not come for Vinyl. They have treated me well. It was an inside gag between my friends that this place was pretentious and overpriced. Don't get me wrong, it is. (Overpriced on occasion, I will give it that.) But they're usually NICE and pretentious. Like the warm comforting touch of Frasier and Niles tutting at you but still helping you get the best deal. Like once a month, I get someone that's kind of a complete asshole but the other cashiers make up for him so it's alright. The place is small, but packed with stuff. If you don't feel like asking for help, they have straight forward signs that can help you lead the way. It's like a sterner version of Trader Joe's wine shop. If you're lucky, you may get one of the cashiers that's super friendly and willing to hear live story about your wine choice. I was on the fence about reviewing this place but my last two experiences made my bite the bullet. First experience had a cashier that was quite funny. (I love a good alcoholic joke.) And more importantly, we bought a new bottle based on a suggestion and it ended up tasting awful, we brought it back thinking it had skunked but turns out we just had poor people taste buds. The cashier was very chill, didn't make fun of our shitty taste buds (At least in front of our faces lol) and let us pick another bottle for free. Like wow, super nice. Especially since we were stressed about not having a receipt. If you're chill enough to potentially be judged or hear a snarky comment -- then it's a good wine shop. I mean, you are going to a wine shop so.... you probably are a inch pretentious too.

Great selection of natural wines, which can be lacking on the UES! Plenty of great eEuropean wines. I especially found a bunch of light reds / co-ferments. Cashier was friendly and helpful, and I love the tags on the bottles to give a quick description.

Small space but serves its purpose in the neighborhood. Buy something in there and you'll go home singing.

Vinyl wine is a great stop for wines across all price ranges. The staff is very friendly and happy to make recommendations when you need them! The affordable international wines, particularly their expansive selection of reds, are my go-to!

They pointed me in the direction of some pretty nice wines. One of the employees in the store sounded quite unenthusiastic when confronted with questions however , I would replace him easily!!!!!

This place has a nice selection of wines with some accurate descriptions written on tags around the bottle necks. I can always find something I'd like to drink here. A big plus is that it is right near where I live. HOWEVER, despite that the staff seems nice, they have clearly never received any customer service training at all. Go to wine stores like Mr. Wright, Grape Collective, where the staff exude warm, helpful, postive energy and in comparison the staff here seem like they are half asleep. This is the owner's/manager's fault, not the staff's! If it were located next to one of the stores mentioned above, I would probably never shop here. See how much customer service matters? PS A friend emailed the store with a question about it's name. Wouldn't that be a nice opportunity to build a relationship? But no reply. After hearing about this I mentioned it while in the store and the person working there said, what, huh, oh we don't read all the emails.

Was just getting off the 6 train when I caught a glimpse of the shop awning and decided a bottle of wine wasn't a bad idea! Upon entry, I got a woody wine cellar vibe where wines are shelves in wooden crates stacked on top one another and organized by region. The price range is wide from bottles for as low as $8.99 and as high as $40-50 for older bottles and top shelf alcohol. There are records shelved on the walls, likely for decorative purposes since no music was playing when I entered. Ended up buying a $12 bottle of South African wine (under appreciated region, try a bottle if you haven't already) and was out in seconds. Very cool spot, unpretentious and affordable.

Awesome place! Dealt with Michael who helped me during Covid to send a superb bottle of bubbles to my daughter for her birthday. He even took the time to handprint a very cool note to her from me. Thank you Vinyl Wine!!!!

My favorite wine store, so blessed to have this place in my neighborhood. If you like natural wine, this place is for you. If you haven't heard of, or had the pleasure of drinking natural wine before, this place is also for you. I don't know what I would do if not for this store truly. CHECK IT OUT NOW!

Unlike another wine store that shall remain nameless (whatever, it was K&D on Madison), Vinyl combines great wines with relatively friendly service. Full disclaimer: I'm not a wine connoisseur by any means, I've only tried the Moscatos (which are basically carbonated fruit juice with a tinge of alcohol) offered here, and I've never felt a particular urge to try something new, but the people working the counter have always given sound recommendations for when I'm buying for a friend. Vinyl also offers regular tastings, if you're on the fence about a specific type of wine or if you're just in the mood for getting something new. I'll have to check out the Discount Shelf next time I go.

Great selection of unique wines many of which are very reasonably priced. If you want a suggestion they are happy to help. The atmosphere is low key. No wine snobbery here - just great wine. Wonderful addition to neighborhood.

My favorite wine shop! They are eclectic and have a huge selection from all over the world. The staff always remembers me and give great recommendations. The prices are on point and they are a neighborhood staple.

I've now been to Vinyl Wine 4 times. They have a great selection and a great price range. They have wine from my favorite region in Spain- Priorat! They also have a terrific selection of wines under 10$! They also have the trendy wines in cans, which is kind of great, hipster as it is, let's be honest, it's kind of great. Why only 2 stars? B/c I don't need the attitude. You can't tell how rich someone is by how much they spend in your store. And you can't only treat your rich customers well. Oh wait. Today I bought a $25 bottle instead of an $8 bottle and you and your employee still couldn't be bothered. I guess $25 isn't much for wine, but you'd think a store with a great selection of wines under $10 would respect a bargain hunter. Maybe it's something about my looks? I'd hate to think the man who is always here (the owner? I don't know) is that awful. I lived for a long time in Europe. I know things are different here, and I respect that, but it pains me to spend more than 7€ on a bottle (and that's an exceptional bottle)! Also, who cares? You're making a sale. No need to be so incredibly dismissive and rude. Why? And if people come in with "basic" questions as my partner did the first time I was here, share your passion about wine and educate. Don't judge and condescend. I'm going to walk the few blocks more to West Coast Wines from now on. Yes- maybe the employees don't have the same level of wine knowledge (or maybe they do?) but the man at Vinyl can't be bothered to share his, or be polite in any interaction anyway. So I don't think I'm missing anything. Except rude behavior.

As a beer girl, I don't know the first thing about buying wine and have no luck deciphering the lingo (full-bodied, dry, bright, wtf?, etc). I'll often just purchase whichever reasonably-priced bottle has the coolest label. Fortunately Vinyl speaks my language (literally) and has attached little hanging tags to each bottle with simple notes like, "Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm" and "Perfect pre-game wine." Not only did these notes make me feel a bit like Alice In Wonderland, but it made it infinitely easier to decide what to purchase for a fancy brunch party. As proof to the accuracy of these tags (basically SparkNotes of wine), everyone ended up raving about the flavour... which has never, ever happened with any of my snazzy labeled bottles. Interestingly enough, the staff wasn't super friendly or eager to help, but I guess that's what the little notes are for?

Vinyl records on shelves side by side with bottles of wine. Don't be afraid to ask the dude at the counter for a recommendation: they're always on point. I walk in thinking I'll purchase one bottle and come out with two. Affordable, eclectic selections, AND they sell T-shirts too.

I'm a wine enthusiast from California and I love this place. It's a few minute walk from my apartment and in East Harlem this is appreciated. A mix of upscale and more affordable (and still great) wines! I've bought a variety here. I got a fabulous rosé champagne from Portugal and I loved it. I got a Paso Robles Cab called Broadside and I LOVED it! They have a 'discount' shelf with ~$10 wines which are fun to check out. The guy who has checked me out is 'less than friendly' though. Overall:so happy this place exists in this part of town!

We came in for specific champagne (Moet) but despite the fact their 'house' champagne is Tattingers, the friendly manager (?)) persuaded us to try a sparkling made the champagne way (after all it is the region that gives it the name nothing else) as well as some interesting Sav blancs (Malborough region NZ Is my fav). We have yet to try them hence 3 stars but his knowledge and attitude deserves 3 so far! Quirky name and good atmosphere inside too!

The Vinyl Wine staff intuits the nuances of a consumer's experience as they purchase wine. The shop maintains a mellow atmosphere which ultimately informs a pleasurable shopping experience. When entering Vinyl Wine, expect to be gratified by the warm and dimly lit space. Hip songs play quietly as you inhale the pleasant aroma of candle-burnt wax. The wood-paneled floors compliment stacks of box crates, each of which boast an excellent and varied selection of reasonably-priced wine. Each bottle is grouped methodically by type as well as region, and contains a brief description hand-written by owner(s) and/or staff. The notes exemplify the wine's key flavors and pairings. These notes are a beloved aspect of the shop: genuinely informative, insightful, and predisposed to wry hints of humor (a reflection of the staff itself!) Thank you, Vinyl Wine, for providing an UES staple that strikes the ideal balance between down-to-earth and classy.

Small, crowded, okay selection but there are much better places to go in this neighborhood. The customer service here has become increasingly terrible over the past few months to a year though. I'd only go back here if I 1. Knew exactly what I wanted and didn't want any tips, advice, or actual help with a product or 2. If I wanted to be treated badly for no apparent reason.

A terrifically eclectic selection of wines. If you've grown tired of the norm, fear not--this place will definitely have something you've never heard of. The staff is very knowledgeable (ask for BearClaw), the atmosphere is spot-on cool, the space is kept spotlessly clean, and I truly dig how uncluttered they've managed to keep the place. In most Manhattan wine stores, it's nearly impossible to turn around or take a deep breath for fear of knocking half the stock to the floor, but you could dance a jig in the middle of Vinyl Wines. BTW--Killer sound system.

The Little Wine Shop That Could...featuring rare and well-priced wines. Vinyl Wine is staffed by young, friendly, knowledgeable people who have introduced me to lots of new "garage" wines from little-known producers. Don't come here to get something mass market, they won't carry it. But the pricing is excellent--lots of amazing wines in the $15-30 range, very little in the over $50 range. And don't forget the amazing assortment of specialty spirits, many from small producers.

The coolest wine store on Lexington between 96th and 97th street. Definitely. I walked in on Friday afternoon, to grab a bottle for a dinner I was attending later that evening. The place is small and definitely won't necessarily have that specific bottle you are looking for, but they may have something better. The guy working in the store was doing a wine tasting with a vendor and jamming out to some good tunes. When I asked him for a recommendation, he hopped right out from behind the counter and had some very good advice. He definitely wasn't trying to sell me on something expensive, and I settled on a $9 Montepulciano which was delicious. Only bad thing I have to say is that some of the people I was doing dinner with are Kosher, and they only had 3 types of wine (cheapest $17), so not the best for Kosher wine.

Vinyl Wine just introduced me to an incredible white wine from the Finger Lakes region of New York State. It is a 2007 Rkatsiteli from Dr. Konstantin Frank cellars. This wine is a palate orgasm - superb. This wine could become an obsession with me - but I will also try the other unbelievable but hitherto unknwn by me wines of the Finger Lakes. Thanks, Mike, for opening my eyes - and going easy on my wallet.

When you get out of the 96th street subway station, make sure you make a beeline for Vinyl Wine. The staff here are very friendly and they will not pressure you into buying wine. You can ask them questions, they will help you, then they will leave you alone, which I like. I hate it when you ask about a wine, and they pick out the expensive ones and try to make you buy it. I needed plastic cups and they even provided those for me. Good selection and awesome staff. Also they are pet friendly!

Great addition to the neighborhood. Good selection of non-mainstream wines. Akin to Best Cellars on 86th Street. Spotted a bottle of white for $7 - pretty cheap. Got the Sauvignon Blanc that was $12 and it was very good. Definitely worth the trip as there are no similar places in the area. No liquor.

Meh... The people here do not say hello when a customer comes in the door. what's up with that? They don't really offer help. When i asked for captain morgan i was told they 'don't carry main stream liquors' but didn't suggest i try something else. I go out of my way to go to a different wine store further from my apartment.

My favorite and go to in the neighborhood. I love the vibe in here ! The shop is decorated with amazing records throughout the space and there's always great music playing. Of course they also have amazing wine selections. The two guys in the shop always have great recommendations for you based on what you're looking for. I feel like the owners really take their time to personally pick some of the best wines in every price range.

This place has a great, curated selection of wines. We've tried a number of different wines based on their recommendations and all have been good. It's great to have this place in the neighborhood. It would be cool if they also sold fancy beer but I don't want to tell anyone how to run their business.

I am not sure where this wine store was located before (okay, looked it up, 99th and Lex), but it definitely just opened up at its current location about a week or two ago. And thank the lord! The neighborhood was in desperate need of a great, eclectic wine shop (particularly one that chooses a Wine of the Week and a Vinyl of the Week!). K&D is fine, but while their selection is vast, it is not so inspired and the staff pretty much remains behind the counter. Vinyl, on the otherhand, has a small but well-curated collection of wines, with a cool hipster (no for real) dude, chilling with his vinyl ready to help. There's real, focused wine love here, not just a store trying to sell whatever's popular for the moment. Also, they've got all their wines posted on the website and the average price is about $15, which is pretty fantastic, considering how dynamic the selection is. Super excited that I can dash over to Vinyl and grab an $18 bottle of Dr. Frank's Rkatsiteli or a $10 bottle of Zestos Malavar (cheap, perfect) or choose from Grunet Veltliners, Torrontes, Albarinos, and other yummy options. Also, free delivery...for those days when you want your wine, but don't want to leave your house.

I'm clearly just adding to the great reviews here but I have to agree with them! Everyone I've ever interacted with there is genuinely friendly and helpful, never pushy, and always knowledgeable.

It must be me, but I swear this place opened up only a couple weeks ago! I don't know why there would be reviews from 2010! I live in the neighborhood and I actually saw them constructing the place from scratch and just completing renovations around 2 weeks ago! Nice place though...there are no wine places around here....but still weird how people were posting reviews since 2010 when it just opened....

I always passed by the place after babysitting and I kept thinking to stop by, and I finally got around to it. I like the way it looks inside! The person working there is friendly. The music is chillllll! Lots of wine selection for a pretty decent price. Have only been once, but will stop by and try to find more good wines.

Great little local wine store that carries unique and local wines. Also helps that the owner is a music aficionado! The wines are reasonably priced, starting from $10+. What else is great is that due to the small store size, I don't get inundated with superfluous choices - I feel that everything in the store is probably a pretty good bet!

Great service! Has a good selection of wines. I love that they have vinho Verde Portuguese wine which is hard to find. Will return!
