On 3rd Nov, celebrating family members' birthday at Violet Oon Restaurant at Ion. Restaurant is very beautiful and nicely decorated. We were well greeted by this service waiter. And again, the waiter politely greeted us when we got seated. Introducing to us his name is Eugene. He recommended his restaurant favourite, example Kueh pie tie Satay kebab Beef Rendang Dry Laksa Turmeric coconut flavoured rice Food portion is just nice for our family of 3. No pressure and no upselling. Eugene said not enough can order later. Even introduced the coconut 🥥 jelly with coconut 🥥 ice cream 🍦 for our dessert 🍨. Was also surprised that his restaurant even gave my sister a complimentary birthday tapioca cake with gula malaka. Which is super nice. Overall ratings for this restaurant is 10/10. And the attentiveness of the staff 10/10. Photos below, do come over for a very good experience with Violet Oon Ion.

Very cool restaurant specializing in Nyonya cuisine. The beef rendang and satay were my favorites, very flavorul. I realized I'm not the biggest fan of kueh, but they were well made. Service was friendly, and prices were reasonable for the quality. Recommend reservations. I'd come back.

Must make a reservation, otherwise it really depends on your luck. We booked a 6pm dinner slot as we always wanted to try their peranankan food. Never expected the food to be so good and the service was just as amazing. Do note the restaurant can be a little cold. The staff even apologised, explaining that the aircon is controlled by ion orchard. When ordering, almost everything looked delicious, and they recommended some of their best sellers. We had the kueh pie tee, chap chye, ayam buah keluak and fuyong hai crab. Every dish was extremely tasty. Because of the strong aircon, the food turned cold quite fast, but it still tasted great. Will definitely return to try their babi pongteh and ngoh hiang next time!

overall: 4.2/5 The restaurant's luxurious décor is both elegant and sophisticated. Hence, the menu has no photo/image of food. But there's details of what the ingredients is below each menu item. We went to celebrate friend's birthday. And the restaurant actually given a piece of Kueh Ubi Kayu (Tapioca Cake). Also, gift a printed photo (photo angle needs improvements 😂) of 6 person with the cake. Food: 3/5 Kuay Pie Tee (must try with the sauce!) & Ladies Finger Lemak quite tasty. Buah Keluak Ayam was very salty. Dry Laksa & Chap Chye so so. Atmosphere: 4.5/5 Everything is great, just that the place isn't very spacious for big boned person (the seats inside after the hallway). The staff is friendly and their uniform makes the restaurant more elegant.

So beautiful! The place is also cozy. Lovely! The staffs are friendly and helpful. We notice his name is Eugene. This is my first time here .. I love it! Tasty food too! Love the pie tea, steak with green chili, ocra etc .. they all are so good I wish the dry laksa taste better. The desserts are also delicious although for me it is a bit too sweet.

Decent nyonya cuisines with a handful variety to try on. The dishes are not on heavy taste side which is good. We went for dinner on weekdays with reservation. It was full house and the staff were quite busy till one of them looked and sounded frustrated when we asked questions on dishes. Ambience is good and I can see all ages and group sizes visit the restaurant.

We arrived on a busy Sunday afternoon. We were greeted warmly by the lady at the counter, Juwita. We ordered the dry laksa, lady’s finger, crab egg, kueh pie tee, ngoh Hiang and curry chicken. The food exceeded our expectations. The servers were also attentive and remembered to top up the warm water frequently. They even prepared a surprise cake for my father-in-law’s birthday. Thank you, Juwita!

The yellow rice was very fragrant but the dishes were just ok. I didn’t like the veg - weird/raw taste. We were seated in the more private area & the chairs were so close to the table that it was very difficult to get in (even for skinny people)…pls do something about this!! Overall I think it’s quite disappointing…I had better peranakan food elsewhere..
