Violet Oon at ION Orchard

We had a wonderful dining experience at Violet Oon @ ION Orchard, celebrating our daughter’s birthday, and it was truly a memorable treat for the whole family. Every dish we ordered impressed us. The chicken satay was juicy and flavourful, perfectly grilled and incredibly satisfying. The Ayam Buah Keluak, a classic Nonya dish, stood out with its bold, spicy, and tangy flavours—rich, authentic, and comforting. The beef rendang was beautifully done: soft, tender, and deeply rich with spices. We also enjoyed the garam assam fish, which had a delightful balance of spicy and sour notes, making it very appetising. The sambal eggplant was delicious and well-seasoned, while the kueh pie tee was wonderfully crunchy and generously packed with flavour, a great start to the meal. What made the evening even more special was the exceptional service by the Manager, Christian. He was attentive, warm, and genuinely caring, ensuring we were well taken care of throughout the meal. His professionalism and friendly approach made us feel welcomed and added a personal touch to our celebration. Overall, Violet Oon delivered excellent food and outstanding service. It was the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion, and we left with happy hearts, full stomachs, and wonderful memories. Highly recommended.

Made a 6pm reservation at Violet Oon mainly because we wanted to revisit the pudding and fries that we enjoyed during our last trip to Singapore three years ago. Unfortunately, the menu has since been revamped and the truffle fries is no longer available. Our wait staff, Tasha, was incredibly apologetic and took the time to explain the menu changes. Since we were initially planning to just have the pudding, she suggested trying one of the appetizers instead—and it turned out to be a great recommendation. Tasha’s warm service and genuine effort really made the visit memorable for us. Even though we didn’t get the dish we came back for, the experience was still a great one thanks to her. Tasha, you rock—thanks for making our Violet Oon visit memorable.

First time trying out the restaurant. The food was delicious, especially the Kueh Pie Tee, the Barramundi, the meat in the nuts in the Ayam Buah Keluak, the Chap Chye, and the Nasi Kuning Rice. Just a possible area for improvement: the pork in the Babi Ponteh was a bit hard to cut into smaller pieces and not as tender as desired.

On 3rd Nov, celebrating family members' birthday at Violet Oon Restaurant at Ion. Restaurant is very beautiful and nicely decorated. We were well greeted by this service waiter. And again, the waiter politely greeted us when we got seated. Introducing to us his name is Eugene. He recommended his restaurant favourite, example Kueh pie tie Satay kebab Beef Rendang Dry Laksa Turmeric coconut flavoured rice Food portion is just nice for our family of 3. No pressure and no upselling. Eugene said not enough can order later. Even introduced the coconut 🥥 jelly with coconut 🥥 ice cream 🍦 for our dessert 🍨. Was also surprised that his restaurant even gave my sister a complimentary birthday tapioca cake with gula malaka. Which is super nice. Overall ratings for this restaurant is 10/10. The interior was very stylish, with a calm and relaxing atmosphere that made it a comfortable place to spend time. Among the dishes we tried—Kuay Pie Tee, Ngoh Hiang, Chicken Satay, and Beef Rendang—the Kuay Pie Tee stood out the most. The shells were light and crispy, and the balance of flavors and textures was excellent. It’s definitely a must-order dish when visiting. The adjoining shop sells items such as jams and cookies, and the fact that you can sample them is a great bonus. I tried several varieties of kaya jam, and it was richer and more refined than those from other shops. The flavor was very memorable, and I couldn’t resist buying one. This is a place where you can enjoy not only the food, but also the atmosphere and the retail shop. Highly recommended for dining and souvenir shopping in Orchard Road.

Wonderful dining experience at Violet Oon in ION Orchard! The food was as delicious as ever, but what really made our evening was the exceptional service from Michelle. She was attentive, warm, and genuinely made us feel well looked after throughout the meal. Will definitely be back!

The asssm fish is fresh and meat is tender. The nghoh hiang and chicken satay are delicious. We were surprised when the staff, Michelle and Christopher presented the complimentary birthday cake for the birthday celebration & Michelle even printed the photo and gave it to us as souvenir. They were attentive too. Thanks for the great service.

Food was excellent and felt like home! Service was attentive and Tasha was most patient with our requests! We also loved the dark wood decor accented with green ferns.
