It's about that time again for lunch and I was in Anaheim and ran into VIP tacos and let me tell you they hit the spot had me tortillas carnitas al pastor beans and horchata water 👍👍

The food here is always good. And the prices are reasonable. They have good quality food and the workers are friendly. Their salsa bar is clean and they offer free beans to eat there or take Togo.:)

Google
Love that they have hand-made tortillas. Great salsa and condiments bar. We got tacos, burrito, and carne asada fries. My favorite had to be the buche. I loved that they use crinkle fries for the asada fries.

I didn't really know what to expect when I first came in here, because the area it is located in is less than reputable. However, ignoring the uncomfortable amount of transients stationed just outside of the adjacent 7/11, I was pleasantly surprised with the place. Don't let the downscale ambiance turn you away! Though no one welcomed me when I walked in, but rather just stared awkwardly as if I wasn't even meant to be there, I was determined to get in on the taco Tuesday deals. Mind you, they charge more than two dollars for their tacos on a taco Tuesday special, so I was immediately biased toward the level of quality I expected to receive. For more than two dollars, I better be munching down on some loaded, flavorful tacos. Well, the tacos were filled with a more-than-acceptable amount of meat and garnishing, but the flavor was mid. That's really all I can say, good portioning with some disappointingly mid flavor. If this place was any further than just down the street, you can rest assured I wouldn't return. Come here if you're local, go elsewhere if you're looking for something bomb.

If you ever felt that feeling of finding a local gem? Well this eaterie was fit the mold. From the outside it doesn't look like much but food was absolutely delicious and service was on point. We ordered tacos and bean & cheese burrito. The taco tortillas were delicious! I learned they are made on the spot. Phenomenal. Tacos come with onions and cilantro. Other additions such salsas and lime are also available for free. They however charged for Pico de Gallo. The bean and cheese burrito came with a bit of a kick. Take out options are available. Seating is available both outside and in. Pricing is affordable for families.

Google
Best carnitas burrito I ever had. Very good and perfect size burrito. Hit the spot. I never post anything but the quality of this burrito forced me to. Great place to have lunch.

Yelp
I always past by and never really paid attention to the taco spot as I'm not a big risk taker when it comes to taco spots. Either the salsas and or meats aren't the best. I sometimes leave disappointed. But today is different as my white homeboy Brett was like "dawg have you tried this place? You gotta try it." So be it we cut everybody off and came in for some grub...and. I just gotta say BOMB MEATS AND GREEN SALSA. VIP TACOS GOT THE GREEN LIGHT. And this coming from your fellow nopal paisanito. Pasenle raza!

Yelp
Tacos are really good, what makes them special is the handmade tortillas. However customer service during my visit was not that welcoming. Cashier looked like she didn't want to be there. I was looking forward to tasting the beans de la olla, but there were no more little trays. cashier was busy with another customer so I asked a guy who came from the back for a container to get beans and cashier responded with "I got this" I waited just for her to say we don't have anymore. Very disappointed, she could have easily given me a foam cup. I guess that's why there is a sign at the door looking for a cashier. So if you are looking for a job and have great customer skills don't be shy to apply!

Yelp
Stopped here after ducks game. Great spot to pick up some quick tacos and some real tasty eats after a sporting event. Hands-down the best thing we ate, was the quesadilla you got to go for the freshly handmade tortilla. Best way to go it's almost like three tacos and one when you add meat really enjoyed the tacos but could've rocked with a bunch of quesadillas and been super happy. Not a lot of seating inside, but for the most part, the eats are pretty quick. It's pretty straightforward so there's a lot of turnover. It's open till 12:30 in the morning so you can grab your tacos real late. We ordered probably 20 tacos between us and they came out super fast.

Yelp
This time we ordered burritos since they were on special! The burritos were a decent size for $6.99 (you can't find that price at most places anymore) and they had a good flavor. The burritos come with the standard items: rice, beans, cilantro, onion and meat, and you can choose to remove any of them (they asked if everything was okay). Since it wasn't taco Tuesday and it was raining the restaurant was quiet we were the only people dining in. Definitely a visit if you're looking for a real taqueria. For salsas I def recommend the green avocado and the red (it's spicy so beware). It's nice to have a place that has legit salsas.

Yelp
Worst asada fries ever the fries looked old af they were dry and shit brown, the horchata is fucken mid do better smh. "shits ass wacK del taco is more mexican than this shit-roger"

Yelp
Stopped by after a late night concert and there was a small line, but it moved quick. They were cleaning the inside (which is always good to see that they clean before closing) and while the chairs were being stacked (we must have come close to closing, sorry!) it looked like there were plenty of seating if dining in. Service was very friendly and they had to go cups for the salsa to pack them up with your food. We ordered carne asada burritos and while they're a little pricey, it's pretty standard pricing across shops and the burrito itself was delicious even after sitting about 15 mins to bring home. The burrito was loaded with carne asada, rice, beans, onions, and cilantro and hit the spot. Would definitely be down to come back and try more! I heard their carnitas is really good as well so I'll have to try that next time.

Yelp
I've only had the crunchy tacos, soft tacos, fries and nachos. They are all so good. I like that they offer chicken Al pastor and they also have the traditional options.

Ben ..

Yelp
I should've read the reviews before ordering here. I ordered an asada burrito and crtripa taco. The burrito was 90% beans and rice and the asada was bland. The taco was almost $4 after tax and only came with one taco. The tripa had no flavor either. It was deep fried to the max and became dust in my mouth when I bit into the taco. Would not come back here again.

Yelp
The quality of this place went down A LOT, i used to drive an hour just to go get carne asada fries and have been telling people to go there instead of any albertos arsenios whatever but had it this past weekend and the quality of the food and service is down bad, they have little takuaches taking the orders now cuhh.

Yelp
I visited on a Sunday evening around 7, outside there was plenty of parking and there's tables and chairs outside for dining. Inside there was ppl eating and music playing. Menu prices were really reasonable compared to a lot of the places I've been recently. My plate was only $10. I got asada fries. They come with pico de gallo, cheese, guacamole, and crema. Nice authentic Mexican flavors and ingredients, not Americanized with liquid nacho cheese. Everything is fresh. They have a cart with veggies and salsas, I tried the two green ones; verde and guacamole. Neither is spicy, very flavorful. The staff was nice. Place was clean inside. I'll definitely be back. It was nice to have the 7-11 right next door too for a slurpee

Yelp
I asked them for no cilantro. And they literally covered my plate in cilantro. Not sure if it was a prank or joke. But when I brought it back the cashier didn't seem to care. Never coming back here.

Yelp
Back at this tacos place again after so many years it's still my favorite tacos place since college. It can never go wrong when it comes to Tacos Carnitas here. After all these years the quality, service are still outstanding. Brought my significant other and our daughter here, they couldn't agree more with me. And oh did I mention the handmade tortillas? It's real good.

Yelp
NEVER COMING BACK My family lives close by so we've been coming here since they first opened. Every year the food and the service gets worse but today solidified we're never coming back. We did a large order as we always do and they got my quesadilla order wrong (as they often get orders wrong) I asked for a flour tortilla, and they put it on a corn tortilla with very little cheese, seemed more like a Sope. It was simple, so I called and just asked if they would be able to make me my correct order, and he said ya he could just make sure to bring the receipt so my brother went to get it for me. When he got there and asked for the order agreed upon on the phone, cashier proceeded to say sorry but the cook says we cant make you another quesadilla the way you actually ordered the first time but we will charge you half price. It turned into them arguing, he even admitted that he heard me ask for a flour tortilla and that he said on the phone he'd remake it but the cook was now refusing for whatever reason. They refused to let him speak to a manager and said the only person able to make decisions is the head cook who refused to even come out front. The cook refused to even apologize for the inconvenience of not making a correct order in the first place and for them saying over the phone they'd remake it so we drove back for it and everything and then deciding not to make it. After voicing displeasure and disappointment with the way the events unfolded the cashier who wanted to help the whole time but had his hands tied due to the chain of command set in place at least gave a full refund... all I wanted was a quesadilla

Yelp
I really like this place, so here's a warning. 1) Don't go starving, because it takes awhile for your food to come out. It's good food not fast food. Lol! 2) Watch out for that tortilla when it comes out because it's HOT!! 3) it's a small place so there's not a lot of seating. Their tortillas are handmade and super filling. Had mulitas, al pastor taco and al pastor tostada. The tortilla for the taco is pretty big and they pour a lot of meat on it. Once you're done eating the itis just hits zzz. I'm already thinking about going back.

Cris G.

Yelp
Food is excellent, the service is horrific. They no longer take phone calls to order food. Not once, not ever. I'm afraid the vegetables and self help salsas are going downhill as well. It's what happens when a business becomes successful, they stop trying.
google avatar

Isaac Z.

Yelp
Its worth the try, definitely. Get the shrimp tacos FS they loaded & the sauce is bussing. Salsa cups are small just like the place lol. Not too mind blowing.
google avatar

Nellie M.

Yelp
Food good Very disappointed no guacamole will my plate as advertised the girl they don't serve like that like the picture They should change there signage when u order something that's what u are expecting food was good Fresh and handmade tortillas

Jingyi M.

Yelp
I had the pollo, asada, and fish tacos. The pollo ans asada are both really dry, they also charge 3+ dollars for each taco which is on the expensive side. We ended up spent close to 30 dollars for two people, would not come back again.
google avatar

Elizabeth C.

Yelp
Food is ok, the service is terrible. Salsa bar not fresh. And there isn't enough space for several people. Last time I came to this place was few years ago and I decided to go today and give them one more chance but after today I realized that they still are not really doing the great tacos that they did in the beginning when they first opened this taco shop. They have music videos playing which can be entertaining and daily specials.

Carlos F.

Yelp
Food it's really good but food specials for everyday change goin. Post new upgrade prices for everyday

Yelp
If you want food that has no flavor and service that sucks, come here! We stopped by after an Angels game and we ordered a huarache and burrito Al pastor. The food was bland with no flavor or seasoning, my burrito had huge chunks of Cilantro like if wasn't diced at all. We should have seen the warning signs when we got there, the two young employees that were behind the counter were just standing around looking at their cellphones and the salsa bar was dirty and empty. When we got our food I asked one of young kids that if I can get some salsa because there wasn't any left and he said "There is still some there!", clearly there wasn't any but I should have known better. This generation of young adults do not understand the saying "good work ethic", the 2 employees looked like a couple of Tacuaches just staring at their phones. Instead of calling this place VIP tacos, they should call this place either "No quema Cuh" or Tacos by Tacuaches" or maybe "Taco-aches".

Yelp
8/24/23 compre un menudo con tortillas hechas a mano, pero la carne del menudo estaba muy cosida y salado. Las tortillas amarilla estaban crudas y sabían a mucha cal, tube que tirarlas.
google avatar

Scott L.

Yelp
Cashier just wasn't having it today... I asked for a small water up he said wait to our food comes out. I asked for a small thing to put the beans in he said wait for your food then add it to your plate. Hence I'm eating here & just wanted to try it.

M R.

Yelp
So i wanted to place a phone order ahead of time I called 3 times no answer I was 5 mins away from VIP just thought it would be busy and it was a good idea to call before but they didn't answer me and I get there and the cashier was on his phone he had no customers so why couldn't he answer the phone call. By the way I believe his name is Jonathan!

Leah Q.

Yelp
Food is so good and you get so much!! Don't forget to try the beans!! We had the Carnitas fry's which where amazing and I had a carnitas casidila that I had enough for lunch and will have enough for dinner

Yelp
VIP tacos never fails.. love that this place is open late and is around the corner from me. Always a great pit stop on the way home. Their burritos are amazing.. my fav is quesadilla - it's so delicious ! Service is pretty fast, you stock up on your own hot sauces and condiments. Their carne asada fries are also good! They also have daily specials like mauleta Monday's, Taco Tuesdays, Burrito Wednesdays!

Maricela S.

Yelp
I've been coming here for more than 3 years. The pastor meat is good but never have I gotten the tacos too greasy. The quesadilla tortilla was also soaked with grease.

Yasmin G.

Yelp
Okayyy so I saw them on insta & I was sooo excited to order from them cause I live down the street from them (Lincoln location) and unfortunately I was so disappointed 1st I got about 5 tacos they are so greedy with there meat . 2nd time let me give it another try got the asada fries same thing greedy with the meat :( my main thing that makes a good spot is the meat! If I wanted a whole plate of fries then I would have ordered a plate of fries. Maybe it's because I only ordered take out? But still wth? Maybe if I dined in it will be a different experience ‍

Carmela H.

Yelp
Good tacos hand made tortillas could have been fresher they were reheated. Neat little dry. But ok

Yicsel G.

Yelp
Every time I CALL to make an order they answer and the next 10 seconds they HANG UP and it continues until I end up giving up I get there and food always takes forever to get I want to be and out with my food but it's impossible if they hang up every single time I try to order on the phone!

Chris C.

Yelp
The best Mexican food in the area. The carne asada and carnita tacos, nachos, carne asada fries, pineapple agua fresca. Highly recommended to my friends and family. Went there multiple times and will return when I am in the area
google avatar

Rob M.

Yelp
Son and I hit this place on way back to hotel after Angels game. It was recommended as a "authentic hole in the wall" by a local resident. The location is a little sketchy, but the food was solid. The tacos come with slightly crispy hand made tortillas. I had shrimp and asada and they were good. Son had his usual asada burritos. He said they were good, but were on the small side. Prices are a little steep and they take a while to make the food, but it was worth it. Not a lot of seating, so I recommend getting the food to go.
google avatar

Norma S.

Yelp
If you are looking for good authentic mexican food... this is the place. Try there carnitas. Everything here is great! There frijoles de la hoya are amazing.

Daisy V.

Yelp
Honestly this is by so far the best taco place I've ever heard of, it was recommended by a friend and was 100% satisfied with the place. The service was awesome, friendly staff, clean area, and the tacos were so bomb . Definitely recommend and will be coming back!!!.. Asada/pastor are very good and juicy, Carnitas are tasty and bien blanditas.
google avatar

Afsaneh A.

Yelp
This is our go to taco spot! I love the al pastor tacos and I could never bring myself to order anything else because those are so delicious. Finally tried their Al pastor loaded fries and someone on our group got a burrito and they were all a hit!!! They have an amazing salsa bar selection- & those pickled onions are sooo good!!! Love this place
google avatar

Rebecca R.

Yelp
Best place in Anaheim I come here 2-3 times a week love the fact that they have handmade tortillas
google avatar

matt g.

Yelp
The shrimp burrito wasn't anything to write home about. It was slightly below average but I really enjoyed how spicy their salsa verde, guacamole salsa and pico were. Idk if it was a normal or just a fluke batch of hotter than normal jalapeños.
google avatar

Yelp
After the angels vs dodgers game we wanted to grab something quick to eat. This was right off the 57 freeway on lincoln. It's located in the 7-11 plaza. When we got there it was 9:55pm, and we noticed a sign that says one dollar taco after ten pm from Sunday to Thursday. So we decided to go into 7-11 to get a drink and kill some time. Normally tacos are 2 dollars and on taco Tuesday they are 1.50. So if you can hold out until ten pm, it's a good deal. We ended up getting AL pastor, Carne asada, carnitas, chorizo. These tacos are actually pretty filling and the tortilla they use is thick, which is perfect so it doesn't break when you go and pick it up. The best one was the AL pastor one. It was juicy and full of flavor. They also have a salsa bar with a lot of different levels of sauces. They also have cucumber, onions and radish. They also have pinto beans you can put on whatever you order for free.
google avatar

joel k.

Yelp
What you need to know - - Salsa Bar is fresh and plentiful. You even get plastic gloves to handle the cups+ladles - Tortillas are really, really good and handmade - Regular burritos are $7 and hearty on the portions. I came on a Wednesday and they are $4, yes FOUR DOLLARS(check the specials menu) - Can't do five stars as I've only tried one item, but I will be back once a week until I've tried it all.
google avatar

Dona N.

Yelp
It was ok. I ordered the fish tacos and asada quesadilla. The quesadilla I recommend. The corn tortilla were falling apart as I was eating.

Christopher C.

Yelp
What a terrible place So I went in and no one was in the line so I was happy. Ordered 2 tacos. Then waited. Then another customer came up and ordered a lot of food. She got her food first still waiting. Then other customers came and ordered and all got there food. The girl up front was rude and not professional and didn't care to help me. This place is terrible service and they are racist too. I was the only white person in there Illl never go back that's bs
google avatar

G J.

Yelp
We come from northern CA and always look forward to LA trips because we stop here. Great food! In a sketchy shopping strip but just be aware of what's around you.
google avatar

Tina C.

Yelp
I was hungry after a long day, and this place had a special deal for tortas on Thursdays. They're 5$ on Thursday's. My total came out to 5.92 after tax. It was really good! All of the ingredients blended well together. They offered a ton of condiments on the side. The salsa there is delicious but it is actually spicy! Definitely much more spicy than the usual chain of Mexican restaurant. I would recommend coming on days where they have a deal to try it out.
google avatar

Jacoub Y.

Yelp
Good asada tacos with the cheese. Fast service and reasonable price! Will be back to have more of those amazing tacos

Isabella B.

Yelp
Worst nachos I've ever ate ... they just stuff some white cheese in crumbs RICE and pico de gallo ... You
google avatar

Drew S.

Yelp
Saw this on social media and the pictures looked great, upon arrival my first impression is that it's a hole in the wall taco shop. It is a hole in the wall taco shop located not far from Angel stadium, my only gripe is the price and this "convenience fee", I asked the cashier what it was and got a look and a response that "it's a convenience fee". Right..... hand made tortillas os what you're paying for. I had an asada, pastor, and a pollo. The pastor was good and the asada is good. Both are similar you'd have from almost any taco truck. The pollo is dry and tasteless. For 2.50+tax per taco, and that "it's a convenience fee", I wouldn't go out of my way for this place. VIP tacos is average and if you want hand made tortillas. Then it's good.

Pedro G.

Yelp
Place is okay. Tortillas are the best part. Meat is nothing special. Salsa bar was pretty messy which happens time to time. But trash overflowing trash cans is unexceptional.
google avatar

Six D.

Yelp
Never had a bad experience from here. They have daily deals. Salsas are good. They have the spicy pickled onions. I get my tripas dorado. It's deep fried, so good.
google avatar

Nelson E.

Yelp
They make homemade tortillas the tacos were amazing there is a little bit of a wait I would call ahead and place an order before I pick up if not you will be waiting a little while food is amazing I keep going back and I drive about 10 minutes to get there so that does say something
