Federal Judge Throws Out Disability Case Leveled Against Redwood City Restaurant | Eater SF

"At Viridian, the brainchild of Bay Area fine-dining alums William Tsui, Raymond Gee, Jeremy Chiu, and Alison Kwan, I learned they announced Kevin Tang—known for his Vietnamese pop-up Claws of Mantis and roles at both Nari and Mister Jiu’s—as their new executive chef, and diners can look forward to his renditions of lemongrass skirt steak, son-in-law eggs, and red braised pork belly." - Paolo Bicchieri

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!! Our recent experience with Viridian Apartments was nothing short of frustrating, and I feel compelled to share my disappointment in hopes that others can avoid the same hassle. We scheduled a tour for the evening , arriving at the complex right on time. However, upon our arrival, there seemed to be no urgency or care from the staff. We were immediately met with a nonchalant front desk employee, who informed us in the most indifferent tone that we might need to wait 20 minutes because another party was moving in. No apology, no offer to make us comfortable while we waited—just a cold, dismissive attitude. It was clear that they were more focused on their own internal logistics than on providing good customer service. After some back and forth, the front desk guy begrudgingly agreed to show us the apartment. But once inside, it became painfully obvious that he had no knowledge of the unit we were touring. He struggled to answer basic questions and gave vague, disinterested responses. It didn’t help that he was openly rude, and honestly, I couldn't help but feel that his behavior was motivated by something more than mere disinterest. Being people of color, it was hard to ignore the subtle undertones of discrimination. His dismissive attitude seemed to be reserved for us specifically, which made the entire experience uncomfortable and off-putting. Things only got worse when we asked about the logistics of moving into the unit, particularly because it was located on the third floor. The front desk agent, again in a tone that felt condescending, told us it would be "difficult" to move in and suggested we look at apartments on the first floor instead. As if that weren’t enough, he casually mentioned that the elevator was broken, so moving up to the third floor would be a hassle. We were left to wonder why such basic maintenance had not been addressed, and why there was no alternative offered. The lack of professionalism in his response made it clear that he couldn’t care less about helping us or ensuring a smooth moving process. By the end of the tour, we had made up our minds-we won’t be returning. If the staff behaves this indifferently when showing a potential tenant around, we can only imagine what the response would be if we were to encounter an actual issue after moving in. It’s clear to us that Viridian Apartments doesn’t prioritize customer satisfaction, nor do they foster an environment of respect for all prospective residents. In conclusion, I would advise anyone considering Viridian Apartments to look elsewhere. The unprofessionalism, lack of care, and discriminatory behavior we encountered left us with no confidence that we would be treated fairly or with respect if we were to rent here. There are plenty of other complexes out there that truly value their tenants and take pride in providing a welcoming, respectful experience. Don’t waste your time at Viridian.

The apartments are nice and spacious, but management is extremely horrible and full of lies. When I toured before moving in they made so many promises of renovations, none of which became reality, both elevators have been out since I moved in 2 months ago, the gym has a lot of broken equipment that nobody tries to fix. Most important the maintenance team is worthless every time I put a maintenance request they just cancel it without addressing anything I have to argue to get someone to take a look. Horrible experience don’t even consider it!

The leasing staff here are great (especially Andrew). He worked with me during move in to answer any and all of my questions. He still follows up after I have moved in to make sure things are going well. I have been impressed with the apartment complex as a whole but it does seem that things do not get fixed very quickly (the elevators have been broken since I moved in almost 2 months ago). Other than that I enjoy living here!

THESE PEOPLE WILL STEAL YOUR SECURITY DEPOSIT. I lived here for 2 and a half years. They are financially motivated to make giving back your security deposit as hard as they possibly can. As long as they make the barrier to getting back your deposit a high enough bar, enough people will give up and they will gladly keep it, earning a nice little bonus for themselves. The few people who complain will be run around in circles until they give up. 10 months later and I'm still dealing with this. They will "lose" your forwarding address and gladly just not send the check until you call. They will send the wrong amount, without the legally required itemized deductions. They will never pick up the phone or answer emails. Then once you've caused enough trouble they'll say "our bank records show someone cashed it, not our problem anymore call the police if it wasn't you" (after sending the check to the wrong address). The number of coincident, concurrent failures during this process was staggering and frankly unbelievable. They are not trying their best, they are not trustworthy, they are not trying at all. YOU MUST DOUBLE CHECK 100% OF THEIR WORK WHILE LIVING THERE, ESPECIALLY ANYTHING INVOLVING MONEY. There wasn't a single time the office did something correctly the first try. Do not trust them on a single item. - They will give away your parking space - They will keep your pet deposit if your pet dies while you live there - They will lose keys, duplicate incorrect keys, throw away keys, invent new keys, hand out keys to the wrong people, etc. - They will prorate 31 days of rent on a month with 30 days - They don't understand the 24 hour legal notice to enter - They will say they need to enter your unit to check fire alarms, washer/dryer, water meter, etc, and you need to rearrange your stuff for their access and then they won't show up. - They will give 12 hours notice requiring people to take an action, and in the same email say "this is a hard deadline, we've had this scheduled for weeks" meaning they just chose not to notify everyone in advance. - On the phone you will get customer-service speak saying they'll "get right on it" and then do nothing for weeks. I'm guessing my number was written on a sticky note next the phone labeled "DO NOT ANSWER!" The units are nice though.

Listen my unit is fine but the elevator has been put since I moved in and no notice, no update, nothing about when it might be fixed. This is a 4 story building and with the rent they charge it's pretty unacceptable that the elevators have literally never worked and there's been no display of an intention to fix them. UPDATE: I emailed the property multiple times to request information about the elevator fix...my only contact has been thier response to my review. Never got an email back :')

I’ve been thoroughly impressed with the Viridian! I have found the staff is very personable and friendly and actually care about their tenants and their tenants experiences. Andrew helped us move in and he was a delight to work with! Any time there has been an issue it has been fixed quickly, from the pool having glass in it to the garbage disposal in my apartment, not working both things were fixed within 48 hours! So far I have been impressed! I will say, we live on the 4th floor and I feel our experience may differ from people on the first or second floor.

Service is very bad. It took more than a week to resolve. Initially closed the request without even resolving it. I am not sure how this is really acceptable by anyone?? Later I reopened it again and after 4 days one person came and fixed is partially and went off. The person just came with bare hands(no tools/ no kit), talking on mobile and tried to fix it with hands. After some time he said he fixed it and gone. When we used it after some time water is still logging. Really poor maintenance and careless management. Disappointed with the service.

3 days before my move in date here they emailed me (not even a call) to let me know I could not move into the unit I had applied and signed a lease for until the end of October. This was unacceptable as my current lease was ending and what was I to do for a month? They offered to move me into a different unit for the same price I was going to pay and when I looked the unit up it was almost 150 less than what they had offered me even after screwing me over. A total joke of a place and an incredibly stressful situation to be put in the middle of a move. New movers beware. A huge waste of money and time.
