How Chicago’s Food Industry Is Responding to Black Lives Matter Protests | Eater Chicago

"At Virtue, the lauded Southern American restaurant in Hyde Park, chef Erick Williams planned a 'Dinner in Black' to honor the memory of George Floyd and has shown solidarity with other Black chefs by outfitting his staff with JuneBaby T-shirts from Seattle; the piece also notes the restaurant was named Eater’s 2017 Restaurant of the Year." - Eater Staff

The people and the vibe are right! They rent out their space for events and it’s such a perfect location. You can bring in your own food, they provide the wine, and the service is excellent. Highly recommend Virtue for their wine, space, and hospitality.

These guys are amazing! The staff is very knowledgable and actually enjoy sharing their thoughts and knowledge on their wines. And that is just the staff! The quality of their wines is incredible, and in my opinion that’s an understatement. I honestly love every wine they have. The atmosphere is fun and family friendly. If you find yourself in Edmonds, you have to try this place!

I cannot say enough about Virtue Cellars, we visit regularly and enjoy it every time. The atmosphere is casual and friendly. It is always busy but somehow never overly crowded. The owner, Jake, always makes sure the experience is what the customer wants. Being a wine drinker but not an enthusiast he makes recommendations with out drowning me in information that is not relevant to my personal enjoyment of his excellent wine. If you are a wine enthusiast he will happily expound. Stop by for a glass!

Excellent wine tasting experience with some friends. The staff were all super knowledgeable and friendly. Satisfying variety of wines to try, each grounded in a unique story of flavors, place, and significance to the wine making. We had two wine tastings (ends at 4pm, when it becomes a wine bar) for $20 each, and picked up two bottles for $110 total.

I absolutely loved Virtue! Not only was the wine spectacular, but the service was also incredible! I went this last Friday and my sandal had broken before going in —embarrassing— so I couldn’t wear it. The owner who was working helped me fix my sandal with duct tape! He was so kind! And in my eyes that was completely above and beyond. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a relaxing and fun environment with phenomenal wine! Had too much fun so I wasn’t able to take any pictures. Also I heard that the labels on the wines are painted on which I also thought was a very cool touch!

Modified from my original review: Now that I’ve gotten to know Jake, Katrina, Adonis, Lauren, and the crew, and now that I’ve been here many times and have joined the club and taken home a couple of cases, I have to say… I wish I could give Virtue six stars, or review them more than once, like stuffing the ballot box. Their presence in Edmonds makes Edmonds a better place, not just because of the wine, but because of the people. This is made more so by the plaza and by the community it gathers. This is a great place to be, and a worthwhile addition to a wonderful city.

We belong to a number of wineries. This is the only one that we won't cancel. Our only problem is picking the wines and finding the space to store all that we love.

Wonderful selection of wines. You will not find any variety that you don’t enjoy, and the owner/operator/winemaker, Jake, is warm, down to earth, and loves to talk about wine. He’s an Edmonds/Shoreline local. The space is cozy and conveniently located amongst lots of great restaurants. You can even get a pizza from upstairs while you do a wine tasting, or order one of Virtue’s cheese/charcuterie platters there. We can definitely be a little picky about our wine, especially my husband who collects it, but the Virtue crew really knows their stuff! We are lucky to have this gem right in our backyard! They have 2 labels, Virtue & Bonita Cellars.
