Came for a work dinner and sampled quite a bit of the menu.
Our items: Smoked Gouda mac & cheese, roasted brussels sprouts, teriyaki wings, Rigatoni & vodka sauce, fried green tomatoes, calamari, and pasta puttanesca. We also ordered The Bees Knees cocktail, a hibiscus martini, the flourless chocolate cake, and fried donut centers.
The mac and cheese was very creamy and seasoned well. The smokey flavor was a little too rich for me, so I passed it off to a coworker to keep. The pasta puttanesca was too spicy for me. When red chili flake was listed, I suppose I underestimated how much of an ingredient it would be. I am super sensitive, so I had to send it back and exchange it for the rigatoni with vodka sauce. I'm pretty sure most people love red chili flake a lot more than I do, so I don't believe it was a quality issue.
The fried green tomatoes, calamari, wings, and brussels sprouts were all good. Out of them, I would recommend the tomatoes or the teriyaki wings most. The tomato batter was seasoned quite well. The wings were more of a soy sauce based sauce than teriyaki, but I may just prefer something a little sweeter than some folks would prefer. They were still quite good. The brussels sprouts were a sort of odd flavor. I'm not sure what was missing for me, but I couldn't give them a 10/10.
Once I exchanged my food, I was super happy with the rigatoni and vodka sauce. Virtue really did a great job with the vodka sauce. It had all the creaminess you could want, with a good bit of flavor packed in. The Italian sausage in it was lovely, as well.
Our waitress warned us that the drinks would be pretty strong. We are not big drinkers, so the Bees Knees slapped us right in the teeth. My hibiscus martini tasted like perfume. The waitress warned me that I should add some raspberry liquor in it, so I did, but I still could not believe how strong it was! Virtue will give you your money's worth for the cocktails.
The service was good, and our waitress was very attentive to drinks and water. Someone at our table was drinking water like a fish and she kept his glass full nonstop. Virtue is really not the type of restaurant I'd pick for a personal meal, but we enjoyed our server humoring us and providing good service for our rowdy table.
