We screened our film, Guacamole Yesterdays, at VisArt and it was one of the coolest experiences we've had on this tour. Such a rad venue, wonderful audience, incredible staff that made us feel super valued. VisArt is all the best parts of the indie film scene rolled into one. Now on my "must-visit" spots every time I'm in Charlotte. Can't wait to be back!

This is a great venue for hosting a party! Brenda was easy to work with and the staff worked hard to take care of the details before and during the party. The space was perfect inside and out. The ice cream sundae bar was laid out so well. The staff refilled the drink containers as needed and helped with every request. I had no worries during the party. I would definitely recommend this venue for your next event!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ VisArt Video isn’t just a video store—it’s a pillar of Charlotte’s creative and inclusive spirit. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warmth, personality, and a genuine love for film. The staff are passionate and knowledgeable, always eager to recommend hidden gems, indie masterpieces, or classics that shaped cinema. What sets VisArt apart is how deeply community-driven it is. It hosts events that go far beyond rentals: film screenings, open mic nights, art shows, educational panels—you name it. These gatherings reflect the diversity of Charlotte and make space for voices that don’t always get heard. It’s clear that VisArt actively champions marginalized communities, with a curated selection of films that include international cinema, LGBTQ+ stories, and hard-to-find documentaries. The space itself has character—cozy couches, handwritten movie notes, eclectic decor—and it feels like a place where everyone belongs. Whether you’re a long-time member or just dropping in, there’s a sense of connection and welcome that makes you want to return again and again. VisArt isn’t just keeping physical media alive—it’s keeping a piece of cultural soul intact. It’s a space where conversations bloom, where art feels personal, and where inclusivity isn’t just a buzzword—it’s a way of being. If you love film, community, and good vibes, this place is a must-visit. Charlotte is lucky to have VisArt.

Very fun experience! Today I felt like I was back in time, in like the 90’s and going to rent a vhs. I even decided to get a membership card along side with movies and a cute cartoon sticker all for just around $9.00 Will be back!

This is the epitome of the Charlotte experience! When you combine nostalgia, cinema, popcorn, candy, and great people doing amazing work, you get VisArt. They have more titles than most, if not all of the streaming services, and the act of browsing the store brings you back to those Friday nights with your family when you used to go to a video store, pick out a few titles and veg out on popcorn and Milkduds while indulging in a cinematic excellence. We’ve been going here for a couple years now and the staff is so welcoming and willing to suggest titles if you’re indecisive. They’re super knowledgeable and it just feels like one big family. They’re always involved in the Eastside community and even did “Movies-on-the-wall” for some time — so fun! A couple of other highlights: they have a micro-cinema which you can rent out and watch movie with your friends and family. You can alway rent out the space for various other events, too. They always collab with Eastside Local, so that adds an extra layer of community. Also, they have various movie clubs hosted by Jon and Matt where you learn a ton and just have a good hang. Basically this is the best place in Charlotte. Ok, I’ll wrap it up. This is a Charlotte gem and the best thing to do is go check it out. In order to keep them around, we should show our support in anyway possible. Go check them out and maybe get a dvd or vhs for ol’ times-sake. Enjoy!

This place is AWESOME! Soon as u step in the feeling of nostalgia overtakes you. They have soooooo much to chose from, stuff you have heard of and maybe stuff you haven’t. They often do free old school movie showings in the “cave”. I went for Saturday Morning Cartoons and they provided free coffee, cereal and little pastries. So glad we have a local place like this.

I absolutely LOVE Vis Art! I would like to give a special shout out to Ms. Kat who did a lovely job of coordinating my son's graduation party. She was professional, punctual and very creative with ideas of how to run the whole event. It was the perfect set up!!! We had about 30 guests and there was plenty of space both inside and outside in the garden area. We could have easily fit over 100 guests there. We had a DJ, food, a cake and a space for the graduation cookies! The customer service here is top notch! I would also like to give a special shout out to Matt and Johnathan who also helped with all of the tech support during the event. They both are laid back and cool. Did I mention the awesome video store??? You have to see it to believe it. This place is a hidden gem right off of Eastway! Thank you again! If you need a great space for your next event here in Charlotte, Try Vis Art!! You will love it too!

Yelp
Amazing selection and friendly staff! We were visiting from out of town, so we couldn't rent anything, but this is a great spot to visit if you're a film lover. Well organized, there are sections for local films, tons of horror, even videos and laser disks! As an out-of-towner who is nostalgic for the VisArt Video back in Durham, this was a great place to run through before hitting up the used book store in the same plaza.

Yelp
If you are a fan of superheroes and fun places to hang out, this place is it! This place is a nonprofit organization celebrating film education and filmmakers with a passion for the power of movies and a museum with a selection thousands of titles. It even has a coffee shop. Nice! Staff is incredibly friendly and helpful and the prices are accessible. VisArt is conveniently located in a shopping plaza with plenty of free parking. I stopped by jist to check it out, and immediately fell in love with it and got a cip of coffee and an awesome Spider-Man t-shirt. 100% recommended and can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Remember that Friday night feeling in the 90s when you looked forward to a trip to blockbuster to pick out the best movies to have movie night with the family? Yea this is exactly the feeling you get walking in here. Brings back all those memories when life just seemed easier and simpler. The nostalgia is amazing. They have a lil mini theater in the back that they host various events. I came on a Saturday morning for a showing of Shrek. I've seen it plenty times on tv, but seeing on a big screen felt so good. They have a lil cafe right next door where can go get a coffee, soda, tea, snacks and pastries and other goodies to take back inside to watch a movie. Or you can sit on the patio when the weather is good and enjoy your items. I can't rate this place high enough, so glad we it in Charlotte. Can make for a great date night, solo adventure or families since they offer various events for all age groups. Believe me I will be going back again and again.

Yelp
I've been shopping at VisArt Video for 14 years since 2011, And I know it's the only video store that's survived in the Charlotte area, Since Blockbuster Video & Hollywood Video been gone for so many years now, I love shopping at VisArt Video for VHS tapes & of course, DVD movies, So to my next 14 years at VisArt Video.

Yelp
On top of the rude and aloof workers, they sold me a Criterion Blu-Ray neglecting to mention it didn't come with the original case until AFTER they processed the payment. As a collector, why would I want a Criterion film in a cheap jewel case? Terrible experience all around.

Yelp
Visart is a really cool place with a lot of cool movies to rent. But the guy who is literally always working there and almost 8/10 times wearing the KENough hoodie is kind of a dick. The other workers are pretty cool tho, idk if it's just his personality or something. Lol

Yelp
When you walk into VisArt, you feel like you're stepping back in time (mid 90s vibes for sure). When I visited over the weekend, they had a Harry Potter movie playing on an old TV by the register :) I was on the hunt for one of those "East Side Pride" tshirts with the old Eastland Mall sun logo on the front, and they had plenty available in different sizes. Also grabbed a Topo Chico out of their soda cooler, which was next to a stack of candy bars for sale and was a very nice touch! I don't have a DVD or VHS player anymore and am not a gamer myself, but if you are, you absolutely have to check this place out - their selection cannot be beat!!!

Yelp
It's a very nice video store, while also do bookings at a very affordable rate. I think they said their back room movie theatre can hold like 180 if you wanted to rent it for something else other than movies. I like how you can just show up and even chill out with your friends. All the employees are very chill and welcoming. They have a bigger movie selection than even Netflix their honestly amazing. -Keke the photographer

Yelp
My entire life I've been a junkie for movies that are so bad they're epic! (think The Room, The Undertaker and His Pals, Urban Sasquatch). Last week I found out that Visart was showing Road to Revenge aka GETEVEN, which has been on my to-watch list for over two years now. There was no way I was missing this. Before the movie started, I had a chance to browse their selection and it's a film junkie's garden of Eden! This place has everything you can possibly want. From your regular stuff to insanely obscure and hard to find gems that must be watched! We eventually made our way back to the cave, which is a small room in the back set up like a little movie theater, and were greeted very warmly by a couple of the staff who offered drinks and popcorn for a small donation to help them continue showing movies. I gladly offered to help. For the movie, It was a small crowd in a small room with a decent projector. The atmosphere lends itself flawlessly for the movie we were about to indulge. The film was introduced by a very knowledgeable guy who knows much about the movie and its stars. Then the movie rolled and we all laughed hysterically for nearly two hours. A local artists creates unique art based on each film they show and it's auctioned off at the end as well as some prints for sale. This was a great experience, and one I plan to continue to attend.

Yelp
Such a hidden gem! Everyone was so friendly and helpful, and there is such a large collection of movies to rent (and buy). We wish we lived a little closer so we could utilize their membership but it's still fun to come here and explore. They sell really cool posters and shirts, and they even have a mini movie theater in the back where you can have parties! I asked the person running the register about the membership, and it's actually very reasonable priced for 3 or 5 day rentals. I told them we lived far away, and they were willing to extend dates or whatever I needed. Very kind people. Will definitely come back when I'm looking for a unique gift for my cinephile husband.

Yelp
One of the true gems of Charlotte. This place is absolutely everything a movie-lover could want. Beyond just being one of the last movie rental stores anywhere in the state, it's a great spot for collectibles/memorabilia, too. It's also got a neat little theater (with concessions) tucked away in the back that's often showing something cool, making it a fun place to hang out. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Fantastic video store with an excellent selection. I've always received top notch service and they've made me feel like family every time. VisArt is a local treasure for the community and city. You can get just about anything there and very reasonably priced.

Yelp
This video store is awesome. 1 million times better than any Blockbuster. The staff is friendly and they have a ton of selections in every genre! Takes me back to my childhood
