"Irvine has flashier dining options, but Vishnu, located in an industrial park near the 405 and 55 interchange, has become a staple for its weekday Indian lunch buffet. Hyderabad native Ram Kadiyala has been filling steam tables since 2013, naming Vishnu for a Hindu god that works to balance good and evil. The offerings are served cafeteria, but servers still bring water and bread to tables beneath two versions of Edward Hopper’s painting “Nighthawks,” including one starring Simpsons characters. Depending on the day, highlights might include butter chicken, roasted baby eggplants in peanut sauce, or okra curry. Meals also come with complementary naan, lacy dosas, vegetable rice, chutneys, cooling raita, and sweet rice pudding with raisins." - Eater Staff, Joshua Lurie

Pretty solid Indian food in the area for lunch. Their lunch buffet is pretty cheap and includes a decent assortment of dishes. The best part for me is they offer Dosas, a south Indian crispy rice dish. The dining space is pretty small so you have to get there early if you want comfortable seating for the lunch buffet.

Being a tourist it took us ten whole minutes to find the restaurant. It was located in the smallest corner in the middle of a commercial building. The restaurant was clearly not a foodie spot but more of convenience for the employees in the surrounding buildings. When we came in there weren't many people, but to be fair there weren't many chairs either. It's not definitely a family place either as they had no high chairs for kids. The Good - The food was quite okay. The pulav was good but not excellent. The Bad - The restaurant looked a little filthy and the staff did not look friendly at all. The Ugly - If you are looking to dine in with your family then this is the wrong place to be at. If you are looking for a quick bite even then the food isn't that great or the ambiance to dine here.

closed without any notice. I went there as it showed up under Indian restaurants on Google maps.

One of the best Indian lunch buffets I've been to in a long while! They had a wonderful selection, and everyone receives a fresh, crispy dosa! $8 including tax, so it's a great deal. There can be a wait for a table as it's very popular. My only complaint was that it was very crowded - like you have to walk sideways to get to the buffet. Only a small inconvenience for such great food, though!

We got their takeout special yesterday and it was awesome! Such a huge amount of food for only $12, that could have fed both of us! Great spice, and loved the samosa. They even let me text in my order, how easy is that? We were impressed and plan to go back.

This place has no atmosphere, and may be too small. But the guys who run it are great, it's some of the best Indian food I've ever had, and it's dirt cheap. The line forms quickly here but it's worth the wait. If you even kind of like Indian food, you should check out Vishnu. You'll be really, really happy you did.

This is an all you can eat Indian buffet. Very good, tasty and homely food for $8 including tax. Sufficient variety of food items. Small place and a bit difficult to find the first time. Sadly they are open only during the weekdays for lunch. The Mango pineapple sasam brought back some childhood memories :) Great value for money!
