"The Vista is a movie theater for people who love the act of going to the movies. Built in 1923,it retains much of it's golden-age-of-Hollywood charm and architecture. There's something about a big red curtain being pulled aside on the theaters only screen to kick off a flick that makes the experience that much more enjoyable. The extra leg room and cozy seats help too." - Cris Cimatu

"Opened in 1923 and recently restored with a new 70mm projection setup after a 2023 reopening under new ownership, this single-auditorium neighborhood movie palace retains its original charm—cone-shaped glass chandeliers, statuesque heads, and an adjoining coffee shop called Pam’s Coffy—while enforcing a strict no-cell-phone policy. A single concessions stand just inside the front doors churns out small-batch popcorn tossed with real butter (even the largest size is under $10), alongside candy, hot dogs (including vegan), White Castle burgers, RC Cola and Mexican Coke, and beer and wine; the popcorn machine rumbles under warm yellow light and the butter coating delivers a creamy, well-salted, fully enveloping flavor." - Rebecca Roland

"Owned by filmmaker Quentin Tarantino, the 100-year-old Vista Theater is reopening on November 11 with a sold-out 35mm screening of the 1993 movie True Romance; the single-screen house has been closed since 2020. Upgrades to the 400-seat theater include a new sound system and 70mm projection that displays more colors and detail, and a cafe and screening room named after the Pam Grier movie Coffy is due in the coming months (Tarantino directed Grier in his 1997 movie Jackie Brown). Vista’s chief operating officer Lance Alspaugh says the theater will show new films, classics, and older films — after True Romance it will screen Eli Roth’s Thanksgiving in 35mm on November 17, followed by Ridley Scott’s Napoleon in 70mm on November 22." - Mona Holmes

"I see that the famed single-screen corner movie house in Los Feliz, the Vista Theatre, is getting closer to reopening under new owner Quentin Tarantino, who purchased the property in July 2021 after it had been closed since the start of the pandemic. I note that plans revealed in March would include an on-site cafe, alcohol sales, and potentially an arcade, and that Quentin Jerome Zastoupil has applied for a Type 41 California license to allow on-site beer and wine sales — a strong sign that the project is progressing, though an actual opening date has not been announced." - Farley Elliott
