My wife and I randomly chose to have dinner here on an impromptu date night Saturday night, March 15. I'm so happy we did! We started with an old fashioned made with Buffalo Trace and a smoked apple pie old fashioned. Both were good, although we preferred the regular old fashioned over the other. Next round was 2 side car martinis - one in original form and the other was their cinnamon side car. I asked for a cinnamon sugar rim and both drinks were fantastic. On to food, we started off with a wood fired pizza made with house made pepperoni and house made sausage, along with basil and fresh mushrooms. This was hands down the best pizza I've ever had! Then we had a risotto rice cake appetizer which was also unique and tasty. After all that we decided to share a roasted 1/2 chicken dinner which was like none other! Finally, we polished it all off with a baked Alaska and washed that down with an espresso martini. I'm an impossible-to-please person and never give out a perfect 10 for anything but I have to say our experience here was a solid 9.9! Stephanie was our bartender (we sat at the bar) and her knowledge, expertise, and recommendations were all on point. I highly suggest you try this place out if you haven't already. Especially great for couples or those going on a first date. This place will impress her and score you points before you even open your mouth 😆

Amazing spot, fit for foodies! Lizzie the sometimes bartender and often server is THE best. Get the very unique tomato gimlet drink (can’t remember what it’s called but the name does not remotely come close to describing the deliciousness of this drink!). Lizzie convinced me of it my first visit and that is the main reason I go back…and bring new friends to discover it each time. Fantastic spot!

I am visiting the area from NC for work and this restraunt was highly recommend by the locals here. I got the chicken parm (#2 Coppala) and it was worth every penny. Very good food and great customer service!

My husband and I visited Vistro for the first time on our 5 year anniversary. We were so impressed with their hostess, bar staff, waiters and the operations manager. We arrived early to our reservation where we sat at the bar to enjoy some drinks and the chickpea almond snack. We then headed outside at our reservation time and were immediately met with some champagne to celebrate our anniversary. Throughout the night we were given spot on food recommendations and left so full (wedge salad, burrata, strip steak, Diane sauce, broccoli cheese curds). Dinner at Vistro made our anniversary so special and we can’t wait to go back and try more food!

Best food, service and ambiance in the Chicago area. No need to go into the city when the best restaurant is right in town. Cocktails and wine are perfect and dessert takes the cake!

I recently visited Vistro in Hinsdale, IL, and unfortunately, it was a bit disappointing experience. I ordered the chicken wings, and they were tough, and seemed like they were frozen before being fried. The lobster bisque was also underwhelming, with no lobster in sight, just breadcrumbs and a bland, watery broth. The pizza was plain and forgettable at best. My total bill came to about $120, and for the quality of food, I felt like I was seriously overcharged.

Delishhhhhhh. First time here and can’t wait to go back. The restaurant week menu was perfect with solid options

Overall, the food was not bad at all. But the sea food tower was very light for the price. Our hostess for the day was quite funny and personable. Not a bad spot.

Yelp
My sister and I stopped in Vistro for drinks and apps, and we had a great time! We sat at the bar, where we were able to chat with the friendly bar tenders and servers. The bar and restaurant were lively, yet cozy! I was talked into ordering the Pickled Tomato Gimlet, and I was NOT disappointed! It was delicious! I'll be returning if out in Hinsdale again!

Yelp
My husband and I came here for my birthday and we had a great time. Our server, Krista T., was great, very friendly, there when I needed her and I even got a complimentary birthday dessert. Our food was delicious, our drinks were strong. That bone marrow was to die for and the gooey butter cake was phenomenal. Thank you

Yelp
Exceptional mixologists, seasonal cocktail offerings, and a charming bar area. And that's just the start! This is a family favorite for celebrations of all kinds. Even if you dislike kale, you must order it - you'll have a change of heart for certain! HOMEMADE CHEEZEITS!!! Best wedge salad I've ever had. And the burger with pimiento cheese is crave worthy combined with perfectly cooked French fries. I'm drooling as I type.

Yelp
We had a great date night here! Our first time trying Vistro and the entire waitstaff was welcoming and attentive from beginning to end. We told them we were celebrating an anniversary and they immediately greeted us with champagne! We started with the Maine mussels and Bone Marrow. We love both of these apps - and absolutely loved the lemon addition to the mussels. The bone marrow was amazing, just needed a hint more flavor (loved the salad that came with it!) Since we came for a later dinner we split the filet & a baked potato. WOW the baked potato was fantastic. The steak I would actually give 3 stars - was over cooked (ask for medium rare) and a little too salty. The team surprised us with a chocolate cake for dessert and really made the night very enjoyable. It was loud and people were watching football, but we weren't looking for a stuffy steakhouse - this fit the bill!

Yelp
The elegant oyster They have a happy hour from 4:30PM to 5:30PM with a short menu of offerings. My friend suggested this place because of the happy hour oyster deal. I'm a big lover of good quality, fresh oysters. This restaurant serves East and West Coast oysters on the regular menu; however, the happy hour menu only serves West Coast oysters. I got 6 of them and they were all gone in a matter of minutes. Yes, the oysters were good and they were $2 each. The fact that I like raw oysters I can say that $2 each is actually a really good price. The restaurant is very elegant and feels like the kind of place to bring a date or an intimate group for dinner. They also have an outdoor patio which is nice, but you can only partake in in happy hour if you sit at the bar. I think this place is really nice and has a lot of potential. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that I was bored and left right after happy hour. I stayed one hour and left. It's kind of boring there. I can't recall if there was any music or background noise. It just felt very clean and nice. The menu is a bit pricey except for happy hour. The burger on the menu I think was over $18, so it better be a really good burger. I didn't try the burger but I'm not sure I'll ever go back. Nothing wrong with the place, but it just felt stuffy.

Yelp
Had an amazing experience here! So much attention to us as well as our service. Food was 10/10, anything you choose on the menu is 100% worth it! The ambience is casual but can dress it up. It's relaxing and cozy, a place where you can have an intimate night with your significant other. Will be back!

Yelp
I used to love this place, but unfortunately it's not what it used to be. Still good, but no longer great. Let's start with the PROs: We went to celebrate a birthday and the chef brought out a little birthday cake which was incredibly thoughtful. It was wasn't a dessert I was keen on, but my husband enjoyed it and the presentation was beautiful. The bussers are amazing here! They're so attentive to clearing your table, keeping your water filled, and being polite. The restaurant is clean and comfortable. Cons: bread "service" that is $10 for 5 small slices of sour dough bread that were full of holes as most SD bread is, but when it says service, you'd think it's bottomless to some extent. Nope. Salted butter still remains delicious, but the old rolls were top notch. This new bread was very underwhelming. The waitress was great at the start, but once our order was in, she disappeared and I was basically through my entire meal before I found her to ask for salt and pepper. Our dessert came out, but one was completely forgotten. Again, couldn't find our server. The place isn't that big so what on earth - where was she?! We got a busser to get our server and apparently she thought we wanted the check, so she brought us that. When I mentioned the dessert was missing, she was barely apologetic. She took it off the bill (& still didn't bring it) and brought a tasting portion of one of the missing items, but I feel like when you're sitting there for 15-20 min with no dessert and no sign of your waitress, something should be comped at that point. It was disappointing that I picked this place to celebrate my birthday and was embarrassed instead.

Yelp
Nice ambiance, the restaurant was spacious VISTRO SPRITZ tito's vodka, marie brizard elderflower, citrus shrub, lemon, cava 14 - not for me. Mac and cheese - was edible but bland. I wouldn't order again. Mashed potatoes - delicious. Very creamy, smooth texture. 8oz steak - was cooked perfectly (medium well). I wish they asked me if I wanted any of the sauces, I would have ordered one but forgot. Hummingbird cake - delicious. Perfect for two people. Pricey, good food but jury is out on if its worth the price. Service was on the slower side.

Yelp
The whole menu is extraordinary. The freshness and quality of the ingredients make Vistro Prime a destination restaurant. It's worth traveling to Hinsdale to dine here. Come for dinner for the WOOD OVEN ROASTED SEAFOOD with lobster tail, backfin crab, black tiger shrimp, crab claws, grilled lemon, seafood butter, sourdough $109. The kitchen cooks seafood to perfection. Add the Seasonal Vegetable to whatever you order. It's always extraordinary. Fish of the Day is always a winner. Great restaurant!

Yelp
Definitely will not return! Food the steak was way to salty and size was like a breakfast steak and eggs for the price. Martini drinks were small in glass

Yelp
Very good food and excellent service. It's a bit noisy and the TV in the front is annoying, but otherwise a solid restaurant.

Yelp
This spot in downtown Hinsdale is very cute inside and a good setting for a nice dinner out for the night. I was overwhelmed with the amount of menu options available. Almost every menu item seemed promising. Highlights- Smoked Apple Butter Old Fashioned: This was the ideal winter whiskey cocktail. It featured hints of sweetness and also a pleasant rich flavor from the whiskey. Highly recommend! Brussels Sprout Salad (Came with the Fish of the Day): The brussels sprout salad was fresh and flavorful. Hummingbird Cake: I haven't found this type of cake at too many places in the Chicagoland area. I was excited to see it featured on the menu here and it lived up to my expectations. It is a decent sized slice that could be shared between two people or one person that is still hungry after dinner. What Could Have Been Better- Other reviews mentioned the long wait time for food. Unfortunately, this was our experience as well. I believe we were waiting in the neighborhood of about an hour for our main dishes to come out. We enjoyed sitting and enjoying each others company while we waited, but this scenario may not be ideal for someone with limited time. The Fish of the Day (Halibut)- Overcooked and dry. I had high hopes for this halibut, but it was disappointing. I considered sending it back, but was worried that it would add on more time after already waiting a while. Mac and Cheese- I also had high hopes for the mac and cheese, but it was also disappointing. The cheese sauce did not have enough flavor in it. Final Take-------- Our waiter was really nice and accommodating. This helped contribute towards a positive environment during our visit. My friends that got beef focused dishes seemed to like them. I think I just made a mistake in this case by getting fish as my main dish. If I ever came back, I would just try to stick with safer options from the menu like steak.

Yelp
This was our 2nd time at Vistro. Our first time, it was great and they gave us a bottle of their steak sauce (which is what they do) to take home. My husband loves that stuff! Because we had a positive experience the first time, we brought our friends for a last dinner before they move out of state. They are from Naperville and had never been to Vistro. Let me preface this with the staff was very cordial. All 4 of us ordered the French onion soup. The worst we have ever had. No flavor to the broth whatsoever...like warm water. We were seated outside and the weather was rainy...so our server was scarce. Two of us ordered the Bavette steak medium...it came out raw and they did not offer their steak sauce. Twenty minutes after our meals were served, my spinach side dish came out. By that time, I left the steak and waited for our server to return so we could send our steaks back to be cooked. Since one of the steaks had a blue cheese crust, it had to be totally recooked with a new steak. The other was simply cooked longer. By that time, the other two diners in our party were finished with dinner so we asked them to just box up the steaks. So, not only was the dinner a big disappointment, we did not even get their steak sauce to use or to take home! There are so many great restaurants...I am sorry Vistro...you are not what we remembered.

Yelp
Everything at Vistro Prime was perfect from beginning to end! I called to say we were running a little late and the hostess on the phone was very friendly and reassured me that our tardiness would be fine. When we arrived the two young hostesses were so warm and welcoming. They walked us through the restaurant and told us we could choose where we would like to sit. It was a very sweet touch. The cute downtown area of Hinsdale is adorable. The small storefront restaurant had all of the charm to match the neighborhood. Big windows faced the street. Black & white penny tile and a large bar that flanked the left, created a vintage, warm environment. There were a brick wall and shelves with books and plants. The overall vibe was fantastic. Our server Alfredo offered the warmest and most efficient service. He was knowledgeable, nearby when we needed him, didn't crowd us and was all smiles. He was so pleasant and helpful, which elevated our experience to another level. The menu is interesting and creative. Everything we tried was superb with a twist. The Crispy Risotto Rice Cake was better than I could imagine, Crispy yet soft, with a sprinkling of salad. The Seasonal Gratin was made with plantains. My halibut was cooked perfectly with a jalapeño lemon butter sauce with capers. My friend loved her scallops that had a light broth. For dessert we shared the Molten Valrhona Chocolate Cake with cream and raspberry sauce. It was the lightest cake I have ever had. The texture so unique, like it was filled with air and the taste was smooth and not too sweet. Our cocktails were expertly crafted. We had a classic Side Car and a Paloma. Yum!

Yelp
So this was a lovely night out with friends at a place that had promising food, but didn't deliver. PROS: The manager was very apologetic for the delay for our food and gave us a credit back, which was nice. Our waitress was VERY nice throughout this whole ordeal. CONS: The service was the first thing that was very problematic. As mentioned, there was a delay for our food. Now it wasn't just a delay, but I think there was a complete misunderstanding about how the food should come out. Some of our food came out as appetizers (oysters, shrimp, bone marrow) etc. However, there were salads, wings, and a ton of other appetizers ordered that did not make it to the table until we got our entrees. Our entrees hit the table at the same time as the salads. Which is incredibly poor pacing. I understand that the salads may be entree portions. I understand that given the amount of food that was being ordered the pacing may have been confusing. I understand we were a table of 9 people. However, when there is more than one entree order the communication needs to be clear. In addition we didn't get our entrees until A HOUR AND HALF until after we sat down. We were SO HUNGRY at a place that serves food. Now the service can be forgivable because everyone has a labor problem, however the poor food was unforgivable. The problem here was EVERYTHING was over seasoned. I had the chicken which looked flat, possibly over cooked and over seasoned. Now it wasn't just a bit over seasoned, but it was brined, which is fine, and then the skin is over seasoned. Now I like my chicken seasoned, but I was dipping it into the mashed potatoes to cut the saltiness. This seemed o be an issue through out as the complaint at the table was that the steaks were too salty as well. I am hopeful that my experience is not indicative of the typical experience here and hope to give this another shot. The place needs to up its decor to be slightly fancier and really focus on the flavor of the meats in order to make this restaurant worth coming back to.

Yelp
I can't say enough amazing things about Vistro Prime. Not only are all of the staff welcoming and thoughtful, but they put customer service above all else and if any problems should arise (which have been non-existent in the 30+ times I've been) they immediately address the issues and offer a solution expediently. The food is incredibly flavorful, the cocktails and wine Program is top-notch and you absolutely need to pay Vistro some love asap. This is the kind of restaurant every town needs and the staff feel like family there. April and Liz at the bar are always quick to expertly make drinks and Julian, Laura, Krista and Alfredo are superb servers, always going the extra mile to make their diners' experiences the best possible. It's a shame to look at some of these poor reviews below, as it's typically a minor detail that gets blown out of proportion and ultimately shows poor form, knocking such a fantastic group of employees for doing their best to make the 100+ people in the restaurant nightly as happy as possible. Again, I'd you haven't been to Vistro Prime, it's one of the best restaurants in the Western Suburbs and you're missing out!

Yelp
Service and ambiance at the restaurant were great. However, the food was extremely salty. Nearly every dish had an overabundance of salt. Doubt that we will return again.

Yelp
Delayed review from the summer! My husband and I tried Vistro Prime for the first time for my birthday. I would describe the ambiance as upscale casual if that makes sense. We sat at the bar and Julian the bartender took care of us. He was super friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu and did a great job describing the dishes and drinks. We arrived just 10 minutes before the end of happy hour and he was quick to let us know in case we wanted to take advantage of the deal so I ordered a glass of cava (basically prosecco). Here's what we had: Sirloin sliders with the Dijonnaise on the side - the meat was so tender and the brioche bun was nicely toasted. Vistro Spritz - I saw Julian make this drink and it looked good so I ordered that as well. It was light and refreshing! Smoked Brined Porkchop - this was my husband's dinner and he enjoyed it Vistro burger - so good! It had nice thick bacon, grilled onions, and melty pimento cheese. My husband and I agreed the fries that came with it were crispy and delightful! Molton chocolate cake - Julian knew it was my birthday and had us choose a dessert and they brought it out with a sparkler. It was rich and chocolatey and very yummy! It also had raspberry sauce that was nice. My husband had an espresso with it Everything was really good and we would absolutely return. I would consider Vistro Prime more of a special occasion restaurant for us and not one we would find ourselves at as regulars, but it was excellent!

Cori E.

Yelp
Went for dinner on a busy Saturday night. Seated quickly at a nice table. The restaurant is a little loud but OK. The waiter was very attentive and always there when you needed him. The appetizers were nothing special. Fried calamari was fine the fried risotto cake was more like saganaki cheese and little rice. The butternut soup was very good but rich. The Cesar salad was great. Ribeye was thin but very tender and done perfectly. The filet was perfect and very tender. Recommend the hummingbird cake. Excellent and very refreshing. Entrees were all great but the appetizers were the weakest part of the meal. Would recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
Vistro Prime's first burger night was a success in my book. As always, the food and beverages were perfect and the staff are exceptional. Chef Paul, Grace, Patrick, Paul and Liz made us feel welcome and are all just truly warm and nice people. I'm always impressed by their wine list and the staff makes great suggestions for pairings with the excellent food. I can't remember ever seeing Muscadet by the glass anywhere else and it was lovely as was the Zinfandel that Patrick suggested to pair with my BBQ burger. Thank you for a lovely evening and great food. Just what we needed after working hard all day preparing to host Thanksgiving.

Fred B.

Yelp
Favorite restaurant in Hinsdale. Everything here is fantastic. Pork chop is very unique. If you like smokey food and pork you will love it. Service is very rock solid as well.

M W.

Yelp
Beware if you're celiac! I ordered what was supposed to be GF but was not. The kitchen "missed it" even with my notifying waitstaff of allergies. They apologized but it's been a long day in the bathroom recovering!!

Lily O.

Yelp
Previously, I had given this restaurant 5 star reviews and the service was very good, but I don't think we'll go back. The food was just fair this time and just too expensive for what you get. Our guest, an adult with a normal appetite, got a $16 salad and a $36 strip steak and dessert (and sampled some of our dinners, too) and walked away hungry. The strip steak looked very small, very thin, and was only about half-edible - a lot more fat than one would expect with a strip. The plate was bare, too - it comes with nothing. Our kale salad was not good like I remember, entrees just OK. They used to serve a selection of good breads with the soups/salads; now, if you ask, you can get a just-OK roll. The recommended ($12?) cake dessert was dry, nothing special. Maybe the neighborhood customers don't care how much they spend (or perhaps they're there for the drinks), but we've decided that if we're going to pay this much for a special dinner, there are several places within a 10 minute drive that provide better food and a lot better value.

Yelp
Food is ok. Decent place to dine in town. Would definitely check it out but wouldn't be my first choice to eat in town.

Arlynn M.

Yelp
We figured with a Paul Virant restaurant you can't go wrong...Vistro Prime was excellent as expected. Filet mignon was perfect and I loved having the smaller 4oz option---blue cheese crust was an extra bonus. The wedge salad and twice baked potato were the perfect size to share. My husband had the smoked pork chop and although it was too smokey for my taste, he loved it. The rolls, which many restaurants have eliminated or charge for, were simply delicious. Prices were reasonable and the service was very attentive and friendly. Definitely would go back!
google avatar

Paul L.

Yelp
This restaurant is ROCKSTAR status!! The burger, the wings, and the Kale Salad were out of this world. The venue is just perfect and the staff could not be nicer. I would strongly recommend this place. It's one of our very very favorites of all time, and we will be back soon!

Debbie B.

Yelp
We enjoyed a spontaneous lunch of butternut squash soup, sauted spinach, wedge salad, sliders and grape sorbet. it was the little extras that made each dish stand out. the soup topping, salad seasoning, and sorbet were the stand outs!! It's nice to be spoiled in the middle of the day.

Alan J.

Yelp
Very disappointing meal. The steaks were anemic, and the fish offering was mediocre. The sides were not tasty. Although the wait staff was welcoming, the overall service was slow. For the money we spent on that meal I would have expected much, much, more, both on quality and preparation of meat/fish and service.

Yelp
Pretty standard steakhouse and seafood place. Very fancy, delicious food, great service. The had a veggie burger which I devoured. My party ordered all sorts of meats and seafood which they loved. I would come back!

Yelp
If you are in the mood for incredible food and service get to Vistro Prime ASAP. We had one of the best dining experiences ever last night. The oysters are incredible, fresh and delicious! Then we went with wedge, chefs cut for steak, chocolate cake and homemade soft serve for dessert. Each course was exceptional. The service was the best we have received anywhere, Tally was our server and Paul the manager was super welcoming. Cocktails were delicious. PUT VISTRO PRIME ON YOUR FAVORITES LIST trust me you won't regret it!

Richard B.

Yelp
Great dining experience from start to finish. Atmosphere, service and food were exemplary making for a wonderful evening with friends. It was St. Patrick's day so I had the Rueben with the homemade corned beef and it was delicious. We also had the menu special gnocchi as a shared plate for the whole table as an appetizer that started the meal off on the perfect note. All of our entries, ribeye, filet, halibut and the Rueben were well prepared and presented, and full of flavor. Deserts were really special with the Key Lime pie being some of the best we have ever had. Drinks were all great as well, martini's, Gibsons, and wine were all top notch. And I can't forget to mention the incredible service. Liz, and everyone else on the staff, took wonderful care of us all through the evening giving us a nice overview of specials and answering questions with great details on preps and recipes. We could not have asked for a more memorable experience! Keep up the great work.

Yelp
Everything is great! One of the best steakhouses in the Hinsdale area! Enjoy food and drinks!

Yelp
If you love yourself, this is the place to visit!!! My fiancé and I have been so fortunate to try so many delicious restaurants and Vistro Prime is 100% up there with the top contenders (we regularly go to Capital Grille). From the moment we sat down to the second we got up to leave, we felt completely taken care of. Ashley in the kitchen was absolutely amazing and the floor manager was constantly making rounds to ensure that service was nothing less of the best for all the guests. Our server made sure he was always within arm's reach if we ever needed anything at all. Not only was the service top notch, the flavor and quality of food was incomparable. My filet was cooked perfectly blue and the roasted garlic literally melted in your mouth. There was not a single thing we ate that we didn't like (and we ate a lot). I have never felt so satisfied walking away from a meal.

Nancy P.

Yelp
The food was amazing and the service was excellent! So much better than the other steak house options that we have in the suburbs.

Yelp
Great service. Incredible food. Paul the manager was beyond helpful. I can wait to go back and try more things on the menu! Must haves: mussels, crispy kale, the WEDGE with everything seasoning and the scallops! Not to mentioned a great atmosphere!

Yelp
Great steaks, seafood and service. All locally grown and harvested. Pickles galore!!!!! What else could you ask for!? Maybe the woodfired oven and pizzas, chicken, chops?... Vistro Prime has it all!!!!!

Yelp
My family and I recently went to Vistro for the first time and had a disappointing experience. We arrived at 4:27 for a 4:30 reservation to find the door locked. A young lady came to the door and told us they opened at 4:30. We asked if my elderly parents could come in to sit down as my dad just had ankle surgery and was with a cane; he was also wearing a surgical boot. The girls said, "I'll check," relived the door, and never returned. We knocked on the door at 4:31 and were allowed inside. The food was delicious but we were dumbfounded by the experience. When I emailed the restaurant to share this experience, I was told the restaurant is "passionate about hospitality" and they were sorry we arrived too early. They also said its their policy not to open the doors until they're ready to serve people. In retrospect, we should have left and gone elsewhere and needless to say, we'll never return. A restaurant whose staff are not empowered to allow an 80+ year old couple inside 3 minutes early is not deserving of our business. Joanne

Yelp
From the moment we walked in and were greeted and immediately seated by the host & hostess, our evening was off to a perfect start. The casual atmosphere that blended with an upscale and elegant menu created a wonderful dining experience. Our food was amazing and delicious - every plate was embarrassingly clean when our server cleared the table...truly incredible food. Things we loved: the house salad, the wedge salad, steak frites, salmon with ridiculous cheese polenta, and the desserts-all crazy good! Our server overheard our discussion about being at Vistro for a birthday and sent a beautiful dessert to our table- a very kind gesture. The food, service and atmosphere all added up to the perfect night out... Can't wait to go back!!!!

Yelp
I'm a big fan of the "ambiance" of the restaurant and it makes for a nice but not fancy dinner spot. We tried this for the first time on a Thursday night and the place was pretty busy but we got a table right away. As a starter I went with the French onion soup, which came out steaming hot but really good, while my fiancé got their beet salad. For entrees we split their fettuccini and chicken coq au vin. Both dishes were solid and the perfect amount of food. Although the menu is not huge, it has a good selection for everyone and we will definitely be back.

Yelp
Having recently moved to the suburbs from the city, I have been looking for a great dining experience and Vistro Prime hit my expectations. The atmosphere was classy but approachable. The steaks were perfectly cooked and the drinks were delicious. Overall a great experience!

Yelp
Steak was extremely dry, they ran out of filets for a 5:30 reservation on a weekend night, had to find our waiter multiple times to place drink/ food orders, rare orders came medium well. All of the hiccups were not worth the price at all, don't recommend.

Yelp
Expensive, food is fine, service continues to be clunky and not well trained. Not a great experience for the price.

Yelp
I had a good meal - but most importantly - great company. My husband and I came here with our dear friends and truly enjoyed our evening. Our server was more than knowledgeable about every question we asked about the menu. We wanted to order (1) something different and (2) something common for appetizers, so we opted for the sardines and the cheese plate. First off - the sardine dish was AMAZING! It was definitely a great way to start out our night. Pickled veggies went with them and large crisp wafers gave everything a perfect crunch. I have never ordered sardines from a restaurant before - so glad we did. The cheese plate is small - but it's an appetizer! It is supposed to be small. There were four of us and we all had a second serving of the deliciousness that was on our plate. The jam was homemade and we all enjoyed it on a slice of warm baguette. Entrees were okay. Don't get me wrong - we all ate everything on our plates. I had the fish over rice. The sauce was delicious. As I looked at my friend's plate (Gnocchi), I was wishing I ordered hers. We swapped a small portion of each other's and agreed hers was FANTASTIC! The dessert was a delicious swirl of grape sorbet and vanilla ice cream. Truly a magnificent way to end the meal. I loved my bookend flavors for the evening. Started and ended strong. I am looking forward to my next adventure here and I am going to order the burger! It seems that the burger is where it's at.

Yelp
I've heard a lot about their burger and I finally got a chance to try it for myself. Let me tell you, it did NOT disappoint. One of the best burgers I've ever had--the pimento cheese oozed out of the bun in the most unbelievable way. The burger itself was so well-seasoned and a perfect cook. The bun held everything together and was a stand-alone in and of itself. Even the fries were killer. I will be back to try the rest of the menu (along with the burger again).

Yelp
We came the Wednesday before Christmas for the pizza and wine deal. The food was great! And we definitely appreciated the good deals. Why I didn't give 5 stars: There were a ton of kids running crazy all over the place. We were there with our kids and I know it's a family friendly place. I'm not usually bothered by some kids having fun. But this one table, all the adults sat at one end and their kids kept running back and forth to the bathroom, running into our table and chairs. The parents did nothing. It was to the point where it would have been reasonable for someone from the restaurant to say something nicely to the kids. It was really out of control. If you want to let your kids run wild take them to Chuckie Cheese. I know the kids were excited to be out of school, probably excited to visit with their friends but there's no way they needed to each go to the bathroom 15 times.

Yelp
We went to Vistro for the burger that was featured in the Tribune and that was delicious. We ordered the Kale for an appetizer and that was surprisingly good. I ordered the Buffalo Salad.......OMG!!! It was horrible!!! I don't know where to begin. I could have made a better looking and tasting salad. I wasn't getting the pickled celery, it was so sour. There was hardly any chicken on it and the it was drenched in a bland dressing!!! It was probably the worse salad I have ever ordered!

Yelp
This was my first time to this restaurant. Very pricey which I don't mind if I really enjoy my meal. Oysters were very good but the cocktail sauce they served had way too much horseradish in it. So I really didn't enjoy them as much as I wanted to. Bistro burger had no flavor and the ceaser salad is over priced. The Staff is very kind I must say.

Yelp
I really wanted to like Vistro. I've read so much about its chef and his restaurants. Went for dinner and found it disappointing. PROS: Cute spot with excellent service in a more casual bistro atmosphere. Brick walls and accent lights add to the ambiance. I checked in on Yelp and our server brought a complimentary bowl of House Cheezits which were good. Also don't skip dessert. It was the best part of our meal. Had a strawberry rhubarb tart that was amazing. The pastry chef is talented. Our server was also very knowledgeable and provided great service. CONS: I found the menu limited and the food just missed the mark. Ordered the wood oven whitefish, which did not live up to its description or our server's recommendation. A filet of whitefish sits on top of three fried green tomatoes and is topped with a mayo sauce with some pieces of shrimp. A handful of pea shoots on top add some color and it's served in a cast iron pan. It's a nice presentation, but it wasn't good and not worth $31. Whitefish isn't a firm fish, but this was mushy in texture and didn't seem particularly fresh with a very "fishy" smell. The texture of the shrimp pieces in the mayo also seemed wrong and had no flavor so they added nothing but a little pink to the dish. This dish also had no wood flavor for being cooked in a wood oven. Overall, the dish was lacking some acid to balance out all the richness and with the flavors being off this was just a bad dish that I regretted ordering. My spouse ordered the house-made veggie burger. It was the better dish, but at $15 it was overpriced. The burger in its entirety was flavorful but dry. We opted for a side salad instead of the fries and the salad had a very good vinaigrette. As I was leaving the restaurant I was thinking of all the places I could have ate dinner and had better food and paid less. A sure sign I won't be returning anytime soon.

Yelp
Vistro Prime is an outstanding addition to downtown Hinsdale. The service, vibe & food were all excellent. We sat at the bar and enjoyed the burrata with tomatoes and the wings. They even had homemade gluten-free bread for my celiac self to enjoy! We ordered a great bottle of French Syrah to accompany our steaks & roasted carrots. The steak sauces are amazing - cacio pepe and the 5 cheese were delicious. The staff was genuinely so nice, well versed and a joy to be around. They've nailed it - finally a true gem in Hinsdale!!!
