When strolling through Union Market I highly recommend you stop in to Vitis Fine Wines & Spirits! They’ve got a little bit of everything from wines to liquors including those that are locally crafted and women owned. The employee working the sales counter was very helpful and welcoming. Next time you’re looking for a housewarming gift or something for yourself stop by!

Vitis is the best store in DC! Vanessa has always been extremely helpful and has gone out of her way to ensure every customer finds the perfect wine/spirit at great pricing. I had been searching for a specific (very hard to find) bottle for several months, and within just a few weeks she managed to find one for me - best of all it was much lower cost than other stores in the area. 100% recommend!

What an amazing liquor store! Union Market is super cute and this is such an amazing wine bar. Vanessa is so knowledge and friendly! Great little shop with a nice atmosphere. You can tell that every item is purposely picked by the owners, and employees always seem very knowledgeable about the story of each bottle in the store. Great place to go if you're looking for something that's local (both locally owned and stocked with local brands), interesting, unique, and thoughtful.

Vitis Wines has an amazing and carefully curated selection of wines! The owner/manager, Vanessa, is incredibly helpful and helped me select a wonderful bottle of wine (a Chenin blanc from South Africa) to go with our salmon meal we had planned with some friends in the area. As someone with some wine knowledge, but not a tone, this was incredibly helpful advice to elevate my meals! They also carry a wonderful selection of women winemakers (like the Chenin blanc we got) as well as wine made/owned by Black and Latinx folks. Absolutely wonderful place— best way to spend your money in the Union Market!

Vanessa was super helpful in picking out a gift for a friend. Her passion and enthusiasm for wine was amazing and got me super excited to give her pick to my friend and tell the story behind the wine

A spot of sunshine in DC for a deep dive guide to selections that you may not have had before. Looking to expand your palette and gifting beyond the conventional this is the place. Chris is an extremely knowledgeable guy and Vanessa is ready to answer any question you may have about their selections.

A small discovery of wonderful amazement. If you are a wine nerd or not , go see Vanessa and staff at Vitis. Thoughtful manicured selections from around the world makes it worth the stop every time. I absolutely adore this place.

Scratched that itch by recommending an excellent light beer to go w lunch! Got the locally sourced wheat beer from silver spring. Very tasty and light!

If I could I would not give this shop any stars based on the service we just received. We wanted to buy a bottle of wine but the staff was non receptive and did not want to assist us.

I came here with my mom and sister who live out of town. When we walked in Chris (I asked for his name) was helping a white couple pick out wine. Once the couple left he sat down and started using a laptop. He didn't look up once to ask us if we needed help. My sister asked him if he had a Merlot and he said 'no' and went back to working on his laptop and didn't say anything else. As we walked out another white family walked in and he got up immediately and starting helping them. I then went back and asked for his name. I've experienced this several times were ppl don't think (black ppl) we can afford expensive items/wines. It's upsetting and I will never go back to this establishment.
