16 Superb Local Pizzerias to Order Delivery Instead of the Big Chains | Eater LA

"Classic New York City-style pizza joint Vito’s has multiple locations around town — from its West Hollywood original to the Westside and Downtown. The large, thin crust pies are terrific for sharing with the family." - Farley Elliott

Live down the street from the place and never tried it until last night. So disappointed I didn’t try it sooner! Great vibes, very reasonable prices, awesome service and amazing food. Pizza crust was baked to perfection, meat was high quality and the veggies were the perfect amount of cooked yet still fresh and crisp on top. Salads were great as well - excited to have a new go-to pizza spot nearby.

I’m so glad we stopped in here - Vito’s did not disappoint. The pizza was one of the better options and definitely reminded me of a NYC-style slice. We ordered the meatballs, white slice, pepperoni slice and pesto. While the meatballs reminded me of something you’d get from the freezer section at the grocery store, the pizza was fantastic. 4.5/5. Service was super friendly. We’ll definitely be back here again. Atmosphere gets a 5/5 purely because they were playing American freestyle. Lil Suzy took me back to another place and time.

A friend invited me to try Vito's Pizza. I ordered the Senza Formaggio Slice -red sauce, tomato, basil, and kalamata olives and no cheese. To balance it out, I also ordered a Pesto Slice - ricotta, mozzarella, pesto. The Senza Formaggio is delicious. The sauce sort of hangs back, then the big chunks of tomato burst in your mouth along with the kalamata olives, which add the perfect saltiness to the mix. The basil was chopped and plentiful. I highly recommend! The toppings were fresh, and generously piled onto the slices. I'm not sure if it's on purpose, but the distribution on both seemed to push toppings toward the back of the slice - the first bite doesn't get you many toppings. I think it's because the crust is too thin at the center to support the weight of the toppings. I think the pesto slice would have benefited from a little more drizzle. The ricotta on the pesto slice was the stars and highlight. The crust is very thin and reminiscent of a New York slice! It's a nice open space - minimalistic and provides screens to watch sports, etc. Definitely stop by Vito's Pizza for a slice!

Really excellent thin crust pizzas that come out hot and huge! They have one size pie and it ends up as 8 slices that are on the large size. You can get half and half pies too, we did the pepperoni and hot honey and cheese for the kids and it was devoured. They have beers on tap and wine by the glass. My sister got a Paloma so they also have liquor, I stayed with water. Their salads are good, also on the large size. We got a meatball sub and it was delicious, we had to use a fork and knife for sure. The baked ziti is penne and not baked, but that’s ok it was also delicious. If you want a spot with quick service and good food this is a great option. Family style seating with a few TVs to watch. One star off because the expo forgot two slices and the pasta and we had to ask a few times. No issues otherwise.

Google
A little piece of NY made it to Santa Monica. The pizza is very very good! the star is definitely the garlic breadsticks. The pizza is very similar to New York but just a tad thinner than my preference. Will come back. No regrets no complaints. Oh be careful to read GARLIC SALT before you use their public seasonings. Even a drop is too much for your pizza.

Google
Good pies and pasta friendly staff and atmosphere along with reasonable prices! The pizza is New York style and portions are on the big size so order wisely! Great spot if you are dining with family and kids.

Came here after a day at Santa Monica Pier for some light dinner and this place was in walking distance of our hotel. Came here with Mum and we ordered the mediterranean salad and a meatball sub to share which was delicious! Nice pub bar setting, good place to just relax and unwind after a big day.

Food is generally good and typically decent service, however i went last week, it was 20-30 min before closing to be fair. Ordered a couple of slices and sandwiches to take home. Got it, when I got home I realized that the slice with veggies had all veggies basically not cooked at all, just thrown on pretty much raw, maaybe 30 seconds of warming. Terrible, i couldn't eat it and threw it away. I called and the younger girl who took my order answered. I explained that I completely understand that staff wants to get home, but if that's the case and they don't want to prepare the food, they need to let the customers know ahead of time so i don't order. She said sorry it seemed that kitchen staff was in a hurry, she'd refund that item (it was only a few minutes since i live close, so she still had my receipt and info). This was a week ago and i never got anything back on my card. At the end of the day it's just $7 or so, but it's the overall issue. I don't appreciate their service at all. Either make my food correctly, or let me know you don't have time to make the food, but that's not cool.

Yelp
Best pizza in Santa Monica I have enjoyed Vito's for years and just went to the location in Santa Monica Friendly, Fast and Great Food Thanks again

Yelp
Good pizza, not the greatest but very good. So I always judge pizza by the plain cheese pizza, being I grew up on pizza living in the Bronx makes me a tough guy to please! So had cheese pie and a margarita pizza I was not that crazy about, but the cheese was very good. We got there late on a Monday night just before closing. The service was great the gentleman behind the bar was very nice. Cool vibe inside, and probably a great place to drink and eat pizza. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Yelp
worst pizza i ever had. Cold, tasteless, over priced. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Yelp
Food was great, prices fair, and service on pint. What's there not to love?!? I'm sorry for those who said their pizza was not crispy in all the right spots were you too busy gabbing that it got cold way later??? Seriously bc my pizza and my penne with pink sauce were definitely above the 3.5 star expectations I had. I'll Definitely be back when in the area. Seriously worth the stop!

Yelp
I just spoke with Luis and he is so understanding. I haven't eaten the pizzas but I know they delicious. This place is great for family and friends for a get together. If you ever wanted to watch a sports game, come here.

Yelp
LOVE Vito's. Pizza yummy, beer is cold, lots of space for families, teams etc. They make it easy and fun to hang there. service is great, just a very chill place. thank you!

Jonathan C.

Yelp
We order from Vito's regularly for the kids and enjoy it for what it is. Historically an order of meatballs includes 3 meatballs, they have changed it to 2 meatballs, but the picture still has 3 meatballs! So for regulars a plain 2 in the description is not clear. Please update the picture. This picture attached shows 3 total orders. Thanks!

Yelp
Pizza was great. Service was not. We were a group of six and told by the guy with long hair and glasses to clear our own table -- there were no other open spots. When we started doing that, the guy with the beanie and beard got upset and snapped at us for touching the dishes, saying we made him stop what he was doing to wipe the table. Both employees were rude and dismissive. One had time to chat with a friend at the bar but no time to offer decent service. We were also criticized for ordering by the slice instead of whole pies. I get that things can get hectic, but don't take it out on your customers. I regret leaving a tip because they didn't deserve the $3.... (20%)

Yelp
The pizza was delicious. If I could describe it... it tasted like it was made with love. The bartender with the sleeveless shirt was very kind in offering a special beer refill in honor of all the fathers in the world on Father's Day. So it was a pretty special refill. We were full of love and joy when we left.

Yelp
I sent my kid in to buy a pizza slice with a $20 bill and the girl behind the counter scammed her and charged her $12 for a slice!! I had to go back in and demand my money back. The girl played stupid. It was clear she was just trying to scam some kid out of $12. Her little boy toy behind the counter acted all tough. They finally gave me my money back. I didn't even want the slice after this. It's a shame because I love the LA location, great pizza. But what kind of people are they hiring here?? Makes me worry about the food. Terrible people who would trick a kid out of money?? Weirdos.

Yelp
Originally from the East Coast, I have a deep love for New York-style pizza. I've been trying different pizza spots around LA for over a decade now, and Vito's remains one of my favorites. I didn't realize Vito's had a location in Santa Monica until recently when I drove by it. Walking in, I was impressed by how spacious it was, with bar-style ordering and plenty of seating. I think I've been lucky to always visit during times when it wasn't busy, so parking and getting seated were never issues. The white pie is my go-to order, and I'll probably always stick with it. YUM. I've tried a few of their pies with more meat toppings, and while those are delicious, they tend to be on the heavier side due to the generous amount of toppings. If you're ordering their pies, I recommend keeping it simple with the toppings--like just pepperoni, just the white pie, or just sausage. The vibe of the restaurant is casual. It takes a bit of time for the pizza to finish cooking, but the atmosphere is welcoming, making it a great spot to catch up with friends or go on a very casual date. I will most likely be back for another visit the next time I have a craving for pizza.

Yelp
Delicious. Just go. Really, stop reading, just go. Somewhat Upscale order up neighborhood pizza place, with surprisingly solid standard restaurant fare including tortellini, and an amazing baked ziti (they completely nailed this dish). They have a small but well curated the selection of beers on tap, as well as a full bar. The atmosphere is upscale though seating is basically at picnic tables and two tops. Very well lit, clean, spacious, the place just feels "fresh." Very friendly service. Definitely a go!
google avatar

Yelp
Taste is fine. Zero crisp to the crust, but overall decent pie. I just need to find a place in LA that knows how to cook a pizza properly and let the crust develop.
google avatar

Jon D.

Yelp
Ordered 2 slices and house salad. Slices were soggy I had to send back. Anything slid off. No flavor. Had to remake 3 times. House salad was a joke. Could have made a better salad at home. Missing half the toppings. Skip this place. 2 stars are for the nice people that work here. Quite possibly the worst pizza I've ever eaten.

Yelp
Food and enviroment, ok fot groups its has a lot of space , tvs had sports on for people thats likes sports.

Yelp
I thought the pepperoni pizza was very good! The vibes were chill, I stopped by on a Sunday night and it wasn't too busy. I also tried the margarita pizza and it tasted better than it looked.

Yelp
The food, vibe, and music is great here. A great place to come to eat with kids. It is loud and there are always kids running around so for those who don't have kids, that might get annoying. Place where you can get great pizza for the kids and drinks for the adults (they have a awesome variety of beer and a full bar). Been here twice and both times ordered the breadsticks which are the best ever. The complaint I have is that they take a really long time to make. Both times the breadsticks took forever to come and arrived after everyone else was done with their food. The last time it took literally an hour to get them. Both times no one gave us a heads up that it would take almost an hour to make.

Yelp
They sent me a fake ass pizza. Guess they had a bunch old slices lying around that they cobbled together and threw in a box. Wtf? Never seen anything like this before. Look how the pieces don't even align!

Yelp
Quote from someone elses review: "If there's one thing that's hard to mess up, it's Pizza." I COULD NOT DISAGREE MORE! A solid pizza with good fundamentals is incredibly rare, especially on the west coast. And then I found Vito's! A NY style spot in LA. And it's an actual great NY style pizza. I got the 18" Red Meat pie for $36 which is enough pizza for 2-4 days for me. Beautiful undercarriage. Nice thin style crust. Fresh ingredients. Only complaint: a little too floppy for me, but I got it delivered and it's quite a lot of toppings. I'll try the pepperoni next time. Highly recommend this place for anyone who's particular about your NY style. I've tried many pizza places in LA and haven't been satisfied. This is an 8.4 on the Dave Portnoy scale btw.

Yelp
Wow! This pizza is just so bad! I was actually stunned! I ordered a plain cheese slice and a slice with sausage. The flavor of the pizza isn't bad, but the dough is what ruins it. It was supper floppy, but I would have been willing to forgive had the bottom had some kind of crunch. The texture was like biting into a pancake. How does a re-heated slice have ZERO crunch?? That says A LOT! Plus it's way too thin and small and there is nothing east coast about this pizza! I grew up in NYC and I recognize good pizza no matter where it's from. I'm a fan of all types, even Chicago and Detroit styles. This was a huge disappointment! Prime, which has two locations in this area, is way better. I will say the staff were very nice, but there is no excuse for such terrible pizza!
google avatar

Yelp
I love Vito's pizza. It's been around for many many many years for a reason. I typically just get two slices of pepperoni with extra garlic. I definitely crave this pizza.
google avatar

Mickey T.

Yelp
The white pie is awesome, ricotta is a bit sweet and the other cheese is a bit tangy. Highly recommend. Pizza is a little expensive for what it is but it's all good. Slice and a draft beer will run about $15.

Yelp
Not the same Vito's pizza... :( Vito's pizza on Santa Monica Bl in Santa Monica was a spontaneous and regrettable experience. It's been over 4 years since my last visit to Vito's at the DTLA location, which apparently closed. I liked the cool space, super nice staff, the pizza, pasta and a glass bottle of Topo Chico to wash it down. This SaMo location only has limited street meter parking. The spacious interior has ample seating with tables and chairs and picnic benches. A few small tv monitors. Upon entry, walk towards the counter and place and pay for your order. If paying via Apple Pay, the touchpad is not within reach, so you can hand your phone to the staffer. The staffer who took my order must have been last in line when given vocal cords...she whispers she doesn't speak audibly and was NOT cordial towards Me and the other two customers. Ordered a slice of my favs: slice of White, slice of Garibaldi, chopped salad. Disappointed, the drink menu didn't offer one of my fav sparkling mineral water Topo Chico :( After taking pics of what looked semi familiar, but looked tad too oily, so I used silverware to cut a piece and try each pizzas. After a bite of the pizzas I almost gagged! Both pizzas tasted awful, stale and inedible. I was furious, I hate spending $$ for horrible food. What the heck happened to the once delish pizza?!! The chopped salad looked good but even that was a let down. Had everything boxed and walked out asap. Steps away, was a homeless man and I asked if he was hungry for pizza and salad...he was grateful and accepted, otherwise would have trashed. When I ordered, I didn't see a display of pizzas as you normally see at pizza places. Perhaps, that's a major clue, that the pizza slices you get are NOT fresh, because that's exactly what these pizzas tasted like. Shame on Vito's owner/management for serving such horrible food. The negative reviews are accurate, add this one star review. It's NOT the same Vito's pizza! Cannot recommend.

Daniel B.

Yelp
Definitely not better than it's original counterpart, but I like the physical location better inside. I just ordered a simple cheese slice. To. Go. Uncomplicated. Let's go. I received a floppy, greasy mess. And I waited aPproximately ten minutes for such a disappointment. They cover the bottom with a thin translucent, paper spread, so that the pizza doesn't stick. But it still did. Well, the cheese slid off its triangular axis. I've had whole pizzas from this joint before -- and they were put into shape way better than this. Wouldn't recommend the slices.
google avatar

Jason I.

Yelp
Came in to try a slice. It was nice and clean. Brendan was behind the bar and was super helpful. He even showed us other menu items as he was delivering to other tables just so we had an idea what stuff looks like. Can't wait to go back
google avatar

Allen L.

Yelp
So bad... just so bad. Soggy and disgusting. Topping all fell off the second you picked it up. Truly a waste of money.

Yelp
I love this neighborhood spot. It's not fancy but has great pizza! Been here several times and this place is amazing. Great staff, great food.

Yelp
So after my not so great vegan thai experience that left me hungry and needing a palate cleanse, I made my way into Vito's Pizza and I'm glad I did! It was soooo refreshing and it saved Santa Monica dining for the day! Lol I was greeted and it felt welcoming! The two gentlemen were great and helped me with popular choices! The atmosphere feels almost Midwest barn style with its cool range of music playing just loud enough to entertain and add to the ambiance, but not loud enough to drown out conversation! So I decided on veggie slices and a root beer. Great choices if I may say so myself! Lol at first glance the veggies on the slices looked kind of undercooked, but Oh Was I WRONG! I am now convinced not everything on a pizza has to be over-cooked and burned! The veggies were cooked perfectly and the combination of the ricotta cheese and the actual cheese on the pizza was sooooo good!!! I will definitely be back to try a slice of cheese and their Baked Ziti and I recommend you do the same! - Veggie Slice (5 out of 5) - Root Beer (5 out of 5) - Sparkling Water (5 out of 5) Overall Experience: 5 out of 5)

Yelp
I went with my son today, it was so busy. Only two people were working but they handled it so well. Great service. Casual and delicious food.

Yelp
popped in on a random Thursday around 2pm. the restaurant was pretty empty. I ordered a pesto pizza slice + sausage and it took a bit longer than I expected to come out. other than some excess oil on top (easily rectified with a napkin) it was good! the pesto and cheese tasted fresh, and the crust was thin and crispy. I liked the slices of sausage more than your typical Italian sausage pizza topping. I can't say I'm a pizza expert but I was happy with my slice. the restaurant is large and seating was spacious/clean. I'd definitely come back again!

Jessica K.

Yelp
I have been coming here for over a year bc of the delicious pizza by the slice and yummy salads. It used to give the feeling of 'zero compromise' and house-made but now it's clear they have sold out, sadly. Hidden Valley ranch instead of their usual homemade sealed the deal for me. RIP Vito's. Another one bites the dust.

Mairead G.

Yelp
Horrible. I ordered a margarita pizza and got this! The women who took our order was rude and took 30 minutes to get this cheese pizza with huge chucks of tomatoes...thanks

Yelp
10 stars if I could give that many. I've been eating at Vito's for a over a decade, first at the weho location off la cienega, walking (or stumbling) over from our small apt back in my younger days. Then as we got older we migrated to the Santa Monica Location, not sure why maybe the space and beer and family friendliness. We ordered Vito's for our 5 year olds birthday and a ton of food at that. Two days before the birthday she got sick which is the saddest thing ever since she was looking forward to this for so long after two long years of no parties. Eff Covid! So we had to cancel and the crazy thing is Vito's refunded everything. Most catering places would not do that and I can't say enough good things about this place. We have ordered and eaten at the restaurant a number of times but this just reenforces how fantastic they are. And another thing is, we had emailed a few places when we were deciding where to order from and most places weren't super nice and had to "check their availability" and Vito's was the only one that replied they would "love to do the birthday". It was just such a nice message. Anyway we still ordered a few pizzas on her actual bday to support a business that is just awesome. We will have pizza for days but that is ok. Their white + pesto is amazing. Their garibaldi is amazing. My kid loves the cheese and I mean you really can't go wrong with any pizza. We are loyal customers for life! There will be more bdays to be had....

Yelp
Came in here after work on a Saturday it was pretty low-key kind of started getting busy. The bar stocked ,had a great old-fashioned. The Mediterranean salad was fresh tasty full of great veggies. We got a big pizza Terraferma full of veggie sausage delicious! Great place !
google avatar

Yelp
This place is INSANELY delicious. Super NY vibes with the buy a slice or an XL 18" pie. Love the open seating with large open windows. There is a new owner that took over earlier this year and they're in the process of making a lot of changes here I am excited for them! I cannot stop thinking about the breadsticks and salads I ate yesterday. The chopped and caesar were so good I meant to ask if they make their own dressings for those because they were exceptional. I know they make their own ranch which is stupid good I had to take some home to eat with our leftover pie slices today. I haven't gorged myself at a pizza spot like this probably ever. The garlic oil and those long breadsticks! They have a full bar! Def family friendly. Staff is wonderful. This is not the "pizza place" of the 90s I remember in high school. This is an elevated food experience with drinks to boot! Any prior negative reviews I am sorry you missed out on the epicness that is Vito's. The Actual Vito makes the sauce and dough fresh for his 2 locations and just wow. This is so special, highly recommend. This is def going to be on our regular rotation list. Bravo!

Yelp
Reliable pizza shop that I have gone to for years. I usually get individual slices which aren't too expensive. The pizzas can sometimes be a little too greasy so just be prepared to use a lot of napkins but the taste and options are phenomenal. You order at the bar and then sit down with your number so it is great if you are in a time crunch. A lot of natural lighting from the windows and skylights and has tvs for sports.

Yelp
4.1/5 - Cool NY spot on the main drag in Santa Monica, spacious inside with rough parking. Shop - pretty big spot! A big box with scattered tables and a long bar. Knocked down a really spicy, flavorful Old Fashioned while I waited. Super good cocktail. Music loud, plenty of space 4.5/5 Structure/crust - traditional NY pie, big round and relatively well cooked. These are big slices and I expected some flop....a break of the back crust and the cheese slice held up fairly well. Pizza was a tad undercooked for my personal liking, I'd bet a quick run in the pizza oven would crisp it up nicely. Caught a faint taste of fermentation in a few bites, but not a ton of development. Overall, really good, not great. Chewy enough, just a bit short on crunch for me. 4/5 Sauce - standard issue, good balance. Typical milled tomatoes and maybe a pinch of salt. 4/5 Cheese - good spread of mozz w something a bit sharper to build the flavor. Decent pull on the bite; enjoyable. 4/5. Just enough hipster to be Santa Monica, just enough NYC in the pizza to get the nod from an East Coaster, I'm sure. Would try again...don't sleep on that bartender's old fashioned - mama mia!

Justin F.

Yelp
My wife and I get Vito's fairly regularly but the quality keeps slipping. Ordered two pies for delivery, 1 cheese and 1 with mushroom. Cheese pizza so overcooked its inedible. "Classic East Coast style." Being from NYC, i can't think of a single pizza joint that would let this pizza leave the restaurant.

Yelp
Love the New Team. Bryan really took care of us . Bring the entire family and enjoy their amazing pizza and full bar !! Thank you

Yelp
What happened to Vito's? i used to LOVE this place but the last few times I've got pizza from here it just did not taste the same. Tastes bland. What changed? Anyone else experience this?

Yelp
Took a small group of coworkers to lunch on 8/14/24. Arrived, place had only a couple of people. I paid $110+ and gave them an $18.00 tip for the worst food and service. Two pizzas (Terra Firma Pizza and Pepperoni), one salad and an order of breadsticks. Terra Pizza hit the table so fast, seemed like they had a pizza ready in the back, threw some vegetables on top, barely heated it and served it, vegetables almost raw and this was the better pizza. Crust was at least crispy. We waited until that pizza was almost gone before the pepperoni was brought out. Half of the group waited for that one only to be served a soggy pizza dripping in grease. It was so soggy in the middle, not even foldable to eat a piece. So far into lunch hour, we could not wait another 20 minutes for another pizza. After that disaster, along came our breadsticks! We had been there so long we forgot we even ordered those. Hard, no sauce, waste of $9.00. Hard to believe it could all go so badly, yet we paid a premium price for the pizzas ($34.95 and $28.50) and tipped for service we did not receive. I have gotten better pizza from Dominos!

Yelp
The server wouldn't serve my nephew cuz he said his license seemed fake. Said he wouldn't serve him and they opened late too! Wouldn't come here to watch games with the small TVs and food was just ehhh! Really frustrating and just crazy. We showed him Passport and he said no still. And his parents were here too! Wasn't like he was with a bunch of young kids but family. Apparently they changed owners and it's not for the good No scanner to verify!

Yelp
My coworkers and I (12 people) came in on a Friday lunch break. Seating is casual though plentiful, with tables and picnic benches. We got two 18" pizzas, one cheese and one pepperoni. The pro was everyone left full! Cons? The pizzas were EXTREMELY oily. Like took multiple napkins to blot enough oil away to enjoy the slice. Also, the total was $67 for two 18" pizzas. Not insane by LA standards, however not reasonable for the quality. Overall, the vibe is casual and good for groups, but pricey for sub-par NY style pizza.

Yelp
Look, if there is one thing that is hard to mess up it's pizza. I did a reddit search for pizza in Venice Beach area and a number of names came up as recommended for good pizza. This is how I found Vito's. With high expectations I dismissed the people who said that there is no good pizza in LA, as I scrolled through Vito's menu I saw pictures of a meat pizza with meatballs, pepperoni and salami. This is exactly what I love about pizza. They also had cannoli which is my favorite dessert. Quick press of the button and door dash was on the way. The pizza. Was just not great. First off there were no meatballs instead it was like a meat crumble saucey weird mess. The "meatballs" was like someone and strained out the meat from spaghetti sauce and slapped it on a pizza. The flavor was ok, but it definitely was not meatballs. The other ingredients were ok, but not anything special. Next issue was the crust.. This crust ran a gambit from being so soggy in the middle it couldn't hold the slice up, to being rock hard at the edges and nearly impossible to chew. A good crust should hold up under the pizza but not be so hard at the edges that you're afraid of breaking a tooth. Next came the cannoli, first the good, they didn't try and gussy it up with a bunch of extra stuff, on the other hand the filling tasted a little sour like it was about to go bad, and the shell was over cooked and somehow both crispy, and stale. Overall it was fine for a one time dinner but I would not order from them again maybe it's fine for LA but I promise you guys pizza gets so much better then this.

Yelp
Very good pizza!! Friendly, helpful, nice, service!! check it out. Try the Red Meat pizza plenty of protein on the slices.

Yelp
First off, Natalie, the nice young woman who helped me on her own, gets 5 stars. I ordered cheese/pepperoni & margherita slices. Huge & delicious! Was surprise they had a full bar, so I also had a gin & tonic, also made well by Natalie. Good food and good service! I'll be back!

Yelp
Ordered on a rainy hurricane day and I wasn't satisfied, but not fully disappointed. A few things I look for in a pizza. Strong crust, good toppings, and good cheese to tomato ratio. Sadly this pizza only had good toppings. Picking up the heavy slices, the toppings and cheese would fall off and it was impossible to pickup some slices. Way too much tomato sauce and way too many toppings! The food itself was good, but for a reputable place I expected better!

Yelp
After reading some of the reviews here I am still scratching my head. To start, my four year old boy describes this place to his mom with a simple body language of extending his arms to the sky as describing a monster. The pizza is big!! Simply put, he approves. For me as a pizza lover, my criteria for a great pizza is the crust and the taste- not necessarily the size as my son puts it. Well I cannot compare Vito's to Pizzana because it will get crushed base on the criteria I stated here but if you're looking for a great pizza hang out then Vito's is it. You just can't really hang out at Pizzana. It won't handle the capacity if you want your buddies or your kids and their friends to join in. That is the reason why Vito's stuck out for me on my visit. Now before I go into the place further I will say this is a legit east coast pizza place. My east coast buddies who live in LA swear by this place and one of them took me here. As for my own criteria above, the pizzas (cheese and Margherita) I had here were still really good by all means- crust and taste are definitely above par but like I say you can't compare it to the fancy places. Now if you compare it to Prime Pizza down the road I prefer the taste here at way better value. My biggest gripe about westside is that there isn't a really good pizza hang out aside from Pitfire Pizza, which is slightly out of way for me. The non-fancy pizza places here are usually pick up driven or have just couple tables. What's great about Vito's it's got a long bar that crosses the entire width of the place and lots of tables to choose from. For pizza parties this is probably an ideal go to place. Will be back soon!!

Yelp
Not sure what I like most about Vito's, the inconsistency in the food or the annoyed attitude served up by the woman at the counter when I arrive to pick up kids $30 cheese pizza... PASS The app won't let me post without more words... first hit Vito's in October 2020. Pizza was amazing. Over the last couple of years, sometimes it's good and sometimes not no much... with a product like that, best not shortcut the counter workers. But to get attitude at that level, Vito's is asking it's customer to choose differently. Message received.
