"Back in the '50s, when famed industrial designer Dieter Rams was the head of design at Braun, he developed a modular shelving system to hold his now-iconic hi-fi systems—and a company, started by Neils Vitsoe, was born. The system has been in production ever since, and in an anti-obsolescence testament, it's changed very little, meaning that original Vitsoe owners can still add onto, and change, their systems today. It's incredibly strong (Rams was an architect), meaning it can house huge vinyl and coffee table collections—and then you can take it with you when you move. (The planners will re-draw your systems for you for free.)"

I bought the shelf system in 2010 and it's about to move to its third apartment. I love it - it's super flexible, easy to rearrange, simple to install (unless you're drilling into brick, but nothing makes drilling anchor holes in brick easy), and always backwards compatible. It's also probably one of the best retail experiences I've ever had - the staff are super helpful and will help you plan every single inch of your system. They'll also give you a bag of screws and anchors when you walk in off the street 5 years later, no questions asked!

You should definitely look at the system in person to fully appreciate it. The tracks double as cable channels to hide wires out of sight and out of mind. I'm not a people person, but the customer service and consulting was not only top notch, it was free. I ended up getting Wolf to help me install one of the 3 systems, because it was a difficult wall in a two story room. They were well worth it.

This place is a dream for designers. It's all about minimalist goods, and although they technically sell shelves they have all sorts of books and gadgets for you to browse. I had an excellent conversation with the guy who worked there and we got into design philosophy. You'll walk away inspired and refreshed.

a very cool space with amazing furniture. while extremely expensive, the quality is definitely high enough to warrant it. employees seemed devoted and offered free services and replacement parts if needed after purchase.

This system and the Team that manage the 33 Bond Street showroom in NYC are simply the worlds best - nobody and nothing comes close!

I'm biased as I used to work for Vitsœ but this store has always looked great and in a great building. A great place to view the furniture collection of the company.

Love their retro shelving system, I've used it for 15 years and it still looks brand new

Yelp
I recently purchased a home with Vitsoe cabinet systems and had to expand what I inherited from the former owner. I went to the store to chat on what I needed and Faith went above and beyond to assist with the components needed. My handyman ran into install issues and Faith also assisted us with additional drill bits at no cost. Really great service! Thanks Faith!

Yelp
Vitsoe is a company that believes not only in good design, but good service as well. Rob Fissmer worked with me in getting a 606 Shelving Unit, and came back with enough drawings perfect for what I needed. He was also incredibly detailed in marking sure he had everything he needed from me. I sent him some picture with a dresser blocking a power outlet I had forgotten about, and he knew to make sure to ask me if there was such an outlet behind it. He also responded within 24 hours. The Unit was shipped on time, and handed off to a great freight service. Usually the last mile is a problem for some furniture services because of the service the company chooses. I can tell Vitsoe makes sure every part of their customer lifecycle is taken cart of. The unit itself is beautiful. I remember first seeing it in the Dieter Rams SFMOMA exhibit years ago, and have wanted it ever since. It's well constructed and timeless, though I imagine if you're considering buying it you already know what you're getting.

Yelp
Vitsoe makes and sells the 606 Shelving System designed by Dieter Rams in 1960. Rams was the designer of many iconic Braun audio products in the 50's and 60's and inspired the product designers at Apple today. This furniture reflects that same timeless Mid Century Modern aesthetic. Extremely durable, this stuff is meant to last several lifetimes. You're not just buying some furniture, you are making an investment in a future family heirloom. Each installation is custom designed for your space but modular for easy reconfiguration. Your complete order is white glove shipped from the factory in England to your location. We never visited the showroom. The entire transaction is completed on the Internet. You work with a designer via email, pictures, design schema and even old school phone calls if necessary, until you are happy with the design. It took several months for my wife to tweak the designs to her satisfaction but now we have an amazing wall system that holds tons of stuff and looks great. Installation is DIY. You will need a level of expertise about one level up from Ikea in difficulty but a million times better in quality. A power drill/screwdriver is also handy. But with perseverance, you'll get the system built and if you ever move, the second time you put it together will be much easier. There was much cursing involved in my first install. But the precision specs that this stuff is made to means that once it's up, everything will be sharp and plumb and durable and finished looking. Recommended to fans of mid century modern and industrial design.
